Book As I Thinketh: Musings on Life Author: Pratima Shah Publisher: Notion Press Genre: Self Help Format: Kindle Pages: 304 Rating: 4/5
In this book, Author has penned down her thoughts on various topics that can help change our perspective on various things and help us live with joy. She gained these thoughts from self-knowledge and her experiences in the journey of life. Certain topics of book which I really liked are ‘Hormonal imbalance in women’ , ‘Our thoughts at play’ , ‘Let your mistakes go’ , ‘Self – Neglect’ , ‘Gratitude’.
Language is easy and at places author has used diagrams for making things simple to understand. There are beautiful quotes and pictures at the beginning of many chapetrs.
Cover page is really beautiful .I guess the pink color used to write the title is used for feminism. Title has done justice to the content of the book. To call it just a book would be understatement. It is more like a friend guiding you on path of life. So, why delay? Grab a copy of it.
Name:- As I thinketh: Musings on Life Author:-Pratima Shah Pages:- 304 Rating :4/5
The book is not a story it is more like a collection of some wonderful essays and understanding of the life of the author with easy to start language in an amalgamation of some wonderful thought-provoking quotes which took me to the philosophical side of Life. One such quote I loved the most is Scars on your soul. Scars on your skin. Some are on the outside some are within. Some have a story. Some are unwritten. Some you can see but most are quite hidden. The calibre of the author helped the book to make chapter short interesting and engaging. The author beautifully penned down her experience and thoughts from self-knowledge and involvement in the journey of life. This book also deals with evergreen topics which most of us avoid talking, such as a hormonal imbalance in women, Self-neglect, gratitude, self-worth and most important she talks about Love, Love-A Blessing; Not a Burden. It's a beautifully designed work which will guide you on the path of life, you should grab a copy of it.
Life learning from someone with wisdom and experience.
Ratings 3.5/5
A self-help book covering various bookish as well as practical lessons and learnings, this would make a great read for young adults and especially teenagers.
What I liked about the book: --> That it is a mix bag of poems, prose and essays, covering a myriad of topics. -->Apart from talking about practical stuff, the book also talks about academics and very general topics (which we usually tend to take for granted) like hate, discipline, respect, etc --> The author talks out of her own personal as well as professional experience, which makes the content easily believable. --> The language and text is full of positive thoughts and lines which has the potential to lift up the readers' spirits and motivate them when they are down; even fall in love with themselves. --> Each chapter deals with a human emotion in great depth and at most times the reader will feel that they have gone through the same things at one point or another in their lives too.
What I did not like about the book: --> The content and topics, though varied, lack a uniformity, which can feel like reading a journal or blog at most of the times. --> The jump between the topics can make the reader lose interest quite easily.
Quotable quotes: -->It is said that 'Silence is Golden', but many a times we face such situations when we are shattered and slammed by silence. Due to this many of us are afraid of silence. --> Silence is irritating and at the same time sometimes silence speaks volumes. -->Silence between the best of friend-speaks of their understanding for each other without saying anything. -->Silence has its own meaning for every individual. It could be a bliss, a boon, rejuvenator also, as well as a curse, a shatter for someone. -->The amount of silence at the right time speaks volumes about your personality. -->Silence builds relations and also destroys them. Silence is music in its own way. -->Even today the norms of womanhood and beauty are defined by the patriarchal society.

Many of you know that I love non-fiction books, and yeah, I love them to the core. So I always love to read them, and I read this book in 2020, and I wish that I might have got the paperback version of this book. WANT TO KNOW WHY? Here you go: One will always wonder to understand human psychology, human emotions, and how to control them. This book will give you all the answers to those questions. But when it is about self-help books, everyone has their perspectives on it. So in this book, the author explained everything and from different perspectives. I had a positive aura when I read this book. The book itself was filled with a positive atmosphere. This book is full of positivity, and you will get the same. . As I read many self-help books, I know that writing a self-help book is not easy; it requires many efforts. A reader will positively connect with the book because of the practical and day to day life topics that the author had mentioned in the book. The language is lucid and written full of positivity, which makes a reader have a positive attitude. Every chapter in the book will make you think and provide you a lot of wisdom. And even if you are not reading self-help books, then pick this book up. This book will be an excellent start for you to read the self-help genre.

"Silence is irritating at the same time sometimes silence speaks volumes. In some relations silence could be the reason for the balance whereas in some silence causes imbalance." This book is filled with this kinds of thoughts that are very relevant in day to day life. We know humans are social beings, they live in the society. So, we need some qualities, the book explores that. The book focuses on ‘igniting the learner within the teacher’; emphasizing on the need to unlearn the mind’s tendency of attending to negativity and learn to focus instead on the positive aspects in one’s life. I must say, life is a process of learning and unlearning. The author helps you to do that. This is one of the great self help book I have read this days. The title is very apt, there are muses that helped poets to write etc our life also has musings, let's search it. The book also focuses in the importance of self love. Only when the person starts to love oneself, then only he/she would be able to love oneself. She deals withvarious subjects dealing ubiquitously with human-beings and topics such as Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Soft Skills, Life, Literature and many more. This is a great work I must say. The book says : 'KNOW YOUR SELF WORTH, UNLEASH YOUR POTENTIAL AND YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF EXCELLING IN EVERYTHING. SHUN OFF THE NEGATIVITY THAT FEELS YOU SOMETIMES, GET AWAY FROM NEGATIVE PEOPLE AND YOU WILL BE A WINNER IN LIFE.'
‘As I Thinketh : Musings on Life’ by Pratima Shah is just the book you need if at any point of your life you are facing issues of self doubt and you feel lost. The way this book uplifts you and motivates you to live life to the fullest, I say the author scored! I am sure many people will relate to this because every day there is a time when we feel tired of everything and lose hope and this self help guide tells you exactly how to handle such turbulence in life. Not only that, but it also has an appreciation message for women. Women of this era, what they have achieved and how they have continued to grow and fulfill their duties as mothers, sisters, daughters while working, you name it. This book has it all.
Two of the best quotes/lines from the book - 1) You and only you have the wisdom of what you are and what you can achieve. Don’t be misguided by the conceptions of others. You have the key to your life/ success/ joys and everything you seek. No one has the power to demean you unless and until you give them the power. 2) Silence is irritating at the same time sometimes silence speaks volumes.
Apart from all this, the cover and title is very attractive, perfectly complementing the internal and external beauty of the book. Give this book a read if you wish to gain some self confidence, learn to love yourself and make your life a little happier by being a little happier!

"Personality is the sum total of what we carry in the inside and radiate on the outside."
Every single page has been weaved with successful contemplations of the creator which will assist you with boosting yourself ordinary. The book is an assortment of different contemplations of the writer, which is properly in accordance with the title of the book. It is very well written and might be a decent perused for young people, who more often in need of moral boosting and mental direction. The book is simple in language, it talks about self-esteem, character advancement, appreciation, managing uneasiness among others and raising self-assurance altogether. The writer also talked about the norms of beauty in this patriarchal society.
With that said even though I found to book to me quite boring at some point, as the written baffled about things. I mean there is no association, in a manner of thoughtlessness. At the same time at some point I felt more connected to the book. I would definitely prescribe this book. A must read!!
I wish I could share my favorite part of the book here but I can't post the whole book here.
Apart from talking about "JUST LIFE" the author has great prowess to talk about things which we genuinely don't like to talk parse hate, discipline and as basic as respect. This book is not a story, it is more of like collection of well written essays and understandings of life. The book digs deeper in terms of mere understanding and tells you to introspect and learn to live life on the way you want to. More on the motivational and observant side and less on the boasting side, this book truly stands on the title as well. I noticed one more beautiful thing about this book, it has quotes, thoughts and other sentences on the philosophical side which makes it more relevant and interesting to go through. I loved the idea of keeping the chapters short, crisp and straight. I technically am in love with the writing style and experience of the author.
The book is a collection of various thoughts of the author, which is rightly in line with the title of the book.
Coming to the content of the book, it may be a good read for teenagers, who most of the time need moral boosting and psychological guidance. The book is very easy in language for youngsters as well as it has quite a lot of relevant topics viz self-worth, personality development, gratitude, dealing with anxiety among others.
For me, the underwhelming aspect of the book was how haphazard the content of the book is. I mean there is no order, no logic behind selecting the topics. It appeared to me as if I am reading someone's blogs or journal in one book. The topics are so random that one would lose interest easily. The jump from role of silence in a relationship to a poem to a memoir to NLP (Neuro Linguistic Pragramming) for students was a major turn off for me.
Overall a good one-time read for youngsters. 💯% recommend.

This book is an amazing collection of thoughts by the author who fought with lots of phobias & penned down her view points over different topics & overcame her struggles as well as tried to help her readers to do the same. Author speaks about self love & reminds all her readers 'You only know you truly'. She tries to boost up someone who is doubtful about themself. The book tries to light up situations when we feel like give upon everything that we feel too much tired to move on. The language used is beginner friendly. One of the intriguing quote I read from this book is, 'Silence is irritating at the same time sometimes silence speaks volumes'. As the topic was nothing new, it was a bit difficult for me to read this book in a single stretch. Its a one time self help 3.5 star read book for me. Recommended to every readers looking for a lite self help book.
In this book, Author has written down her contemplations on different points that can help change our viewpoint on different things and help us live with satisfaction. Cover page is truly lovely. I surmise the pink shading used to compose the title is utilized for women's liberation. Title has done equity to the substance of the book. To call it simply a book would be misrepresentation of reality. It is more similar to a companion controlling you on way of life. Anyway, why delay? Get a duplicate of it.
