The Misfits #3

Bunny Misfit

Rate this book
Being a bunny in a family of wolves leads to Claire running away from home. But when her BFF needs someone to investigate a possible lead on her missing parents, Claire hops to the rescue.

My name is Claire, and I am a bunny shifter who happened to be born in a pack of wolf shifters. Which, needless to say, didn't go over well.

Before the people I thought of as family made me their next dinner, I ran away, and I might have stayed away forever if my best friend hadn't needed my help.

A secret organization has been kidnapping shapeshifters, experimenting on them, too, and someone has to stop them.

Not me, I should add, because I'm a rabbit, not a soldier, but I am good at poking my cute little nose into places I shouldn't and getting information. My mission is to locate the bad guys' HQ so the cavalry can ride in and put a stop to it.

What I didn't expect was to run into an old crush of mine. A werewolf by the name of Derek who isn't bothered at all by my large floppy ears. Lucky me, the only kind of nibbling he wants to do is the delicious kind.

Before we can find out if a bunny can have a happily ever after with the big bad wolf, we've got to stay out of the clutches of some mad human scientists.

Bunny Misfit by Eve Langlais

3rd in the Misfit series. Best if read together. Paranormal romance with lots of humor and a rather large bunny with berserker tendencies.
Claire, born into a werewolf pack, runs away when she turns into a bunny instead of a wolf. She friends a couple of other misfits and the adventures begin.

This book has Claire tracking the secret organization that has been kidnapping and experimenting on shapeshifters.

Told in the first person from Claire’s point of view with alternating sections in third person from Derek’s.

An amusing adventure. Lighthearted even when the bad guys get killed.

You look like someone kicked you in the schnitzels.

Lol This book is off the charts good. I freaking love this series! This is Claire's story and oh my goodness what a story! Well peeps our misfit crew is back and you no what that means? Yep lots of trouble, lots of laughing, and lots of butt kicking. Claire is off to find out info on where the evil secret hideout is. When she runs into her old crush from before she left home things get very interesting. Derek is working in this town looking for info on the missing shifter never does he expect to find the one girl who's cute bunny nose makes his wolf howl! When someone tries to kidnap Claire yet again and then blows up her motel room Derek goes full protect mode. What he doesn't realise is that Claire doesn't need it she's a kick butt ninja bunny. Can these two find the evil that's been following the misfits? They will have to fight tooth, claws, and for to save those who are being experienced on. Y'all have to read this series it's sooooo good. I truly hope this isn't the end I mean come on who's in the dang basement!!

Sexy and funny

Bunny Misfit was hilarious, occasionally unexpected, and held my complete attention from the very first word. Claire is a wonderfully written character, hilarious and charming, and 8 instantly loved her. Derek is dark and sexy, typical alpha male, who tries (adorably) to save the “damsel in distress”. All around awesome story with a perfect ending, segueing us into the new Chimera Secrets series!

This was the third of a series and I didn’t read the first two. Probably should have, because those characters were featured prominently in this one. In any case, we have a woman who is the daughter of wolf shifters. Sort of. They’re werewolves, so there’s a full moon influence. That was confusing. But then she’s not actually a wolf/werewolf, she’s a… bunny. And she’s not your usual bunny, she’s like Bunny Hulk. Can’t picture it? Instead of green think fluffiness and floppy ears and claws.

Then there’s the hero, who’s just an average werewolf. He was so sweet. He just didn’t step up when they were kids. He’s a team player. He was kinda overshadowed by the extended cast. There were demon angel cross breeds, Vikings, siren mermaids. Even Neptune the demigod made an appearance. Truly, nothing was sacred. For a while there I thought I saw the Carebears, honey. (Bonus points if you get that reference.)

But wait, there’s more.

The villains in the story were mad scientist types who liked to experiment with genetics. The kind of people who turn up their nose at pineapple on pizza but drool over avocado lattes and dip hot dogs in applesauce. You know, things that should actually be illegal. What was never explained was how all the hybrids were fully grown adults and there were no babies or children. I guess that’s the next book. It’ll probably feature aliens.

The most fascinating thing about the book - IKR? - besides Claire wanting to finally jump her guy while they were in a cage with cameras, EUW - was her metabolism. That girl must have consumed an entire 5 pound bag of sugar over the course of the book. And the regular food, too. I was jealous. And now I’m hungry.

Picked up the bundle of the first three books in this series as audiobooks, even though this was the only one I was somewhat interested in. Decent narrator, funny pronunciations for some fairly common words.

This one is...fine. Nothing to write home about. Looks like it has some strong similarities to previous Langlais works which isn't terribly surprising—you churn out enough quick fiction, and you'll repeat yourself in no time. This reminded me a lot of what I've read of her Chimera Secrets series. I didn't find this terribly hard to follow premise-wise, since it was so closely related.

Overall this is cute but not something I'm excited to read the others in the series for. She has better works out there.

Real rating: 2.5 stars

My biggest issue with this is it was a more fatphobic work—lots of negative commentary about other people's bodies, especially fatness + obsession with diet/foods—which is always a bummer to run into with Langlais.

* You need to read the first 2 books before reading this one. Otherwise you won't understand a thing of this story.

Claire is a werebunny ( with a twist) and she is going to help her BFF Lana by finding her parents. For this endeavour she needs to go back home, even though she doesn't really want to. When she comes home she bumps into her old highschool crush and she finds a lead in the quest of the missing parents.

Pro's:
+ Claire is cute and energetic, but also has to deal with the downsides of her bunny side. This is her first adventure on her own and she owns it like the badass she is.
+ The creepy reseach people turn out to be a whole lot more creepy than I expected from the first 2 novels.
+ I loved finding out about Claire's other werebunny. Even though it was hinted at, it still took me by suprise.

Con's:
- This book really has an open ending and I don't like it. Will there be a part 4 or will Eve start another series based on this one?

Also loved this entry in the series, but was a tiny bit bummed out by the ending. The romance is nothing special, but the heroic tale of Claire really shines in this story. I wasn't sure about the bunny angle, but Eve had a bit of her trick up her sleeve. Definitely worth the read.

Absolutely one of the best books I've read in a while! First of all, I love Eve Langlais, and most of her books are absolute must buy books for me. This one continues the Misfit series that I fell in love with, and it is easily as good, or better than the other two. There's something about Claire that just makes you smile like she's broken a little bit, but she knows it, she's not dwelling on it, but she'll still figure her issues out eventually. She is a funny character, lots of hidden talents hidden under a dumb bunny guise, like who could NOT like her on sight? ( I know, she's not real, lol, but I imagine that I know someone like her) Derek has been lost to her since they were teenagers, so it's no wonder that he falls so hard for her again. They are on a definite quest for answers, to conquer evil scientists, and run into some adventures that are life-threatening and action-packed. I loved reading this, it was a great way to spend an afternoon. I can't wait for the next one!

Chocolate rules the world

See Claire might be a misfit but she could also be Miranda's long lost cousin. And are we sure Dr. Cheeks is dead? They have pills for that. And are we sure he's not in conspiracy the dr.s from f.u.c. Interesting...can't wait for the next book. I love Dereck and Claire's story. She was witty and he was so serious. They brought the best out of each other. I will not tell the story but I read it in one setting. Loved it! And for those who don't know PMSing is real. Hence chocolate rules!

Worth it.

My first ever pre-order and I absolutely loved it. I did not read it in order and it did not confuse me however I do think for a first timer for this series it would be better if it was read in order since it was connected to each other. I have read Siren Misfit before so I knew the characters and that helped but I do think if it was my first time for this series it might confuse the hell out of me.

I like it. I do. But this bunny seems awfully similar to the Bunny and the Bear book of FUC series. Just the bunny. Not the story which has some cliffhanger (to the arc and not Claire and Derek’s story.

Cute couple. She kept him on his toes. Hehehe.

It was nice to catch a glimpse the other couples though. And Claire’s parents are great, her dad made me tear up.

Nice book. Shades of FUC though. 3.5 stars.

This is the third book in the misfit series. I really enjoyed the first two books but I think that I liked this book the best.
I absolutely LOVED Claire. She was funny, courageous and determined to keep her friends safe.
Derek was yummy too.
The story was fun to follow and moved quickly.
My only complaint was that I forgot to put it down and had to remake dinner. BAD BOOK.
I absolutely recommend reading this book, but make sure you turn off the oven first.

Mightier than you thought

This book was awesome! I love the quirkiness of the bunny and the adoration of her wolf. Between the two of them, the laughs keep coming and the love slowly grows until they get their HEA. They might have had a long journey, but they eventually make it to where they are supposed to be. I can’t wait to read the next book.

More of EL's absolutely insane paranormal fiction. While is not obvious how this Misfit series relates to other series by the author I am quite sure it does. Are scared bunny is a perfect match for a wolf in hero mode. It doesn't matter that our bunny is the real hero only that our couple have their HEA.

Claire has been one of my favourite characters the whole series, I'm so glad she got her own book! I love the idea of a bunny shifter born into a pack of wolves. Her childhood friend Derek was a great character, and I loved their steamy scenes together. The overarching plot of the series really progressed in this book and I'm Very intrigued to see where it goes.

Claire is a little all over the place. All that bunny metabolism and speed. She’s on the hunt for the lab that has Lana’s parents. Too bad it’s forces her to confront her past and her childhood crush. I love their dynamic and her rage persona. I kinda want to use it for a dnd character lol. Also. Non RH but kidnapping trope of 2 points to add to my tally

Great read

Eve writes great stories. It’s a great stand alone with HEA but is so MUCH more entertaining if you’ve read the previous books in the series. It gives more depth to the story.

More bunny goodness

I liked the story. I love how ditzy Claire is. The only thing I didn't like was how quickly everything wrapped up in the last seven minutes of the book. It just felt rushed. Otherwise great book and funny.
