In the fourth volume of this award-winning mystery series, the beloved historian of Madden, South Carolina, fails to return from a trip and her friends suspect foul play. They call on Enid Blackwell, a small-town newspaper reporter, to help look for the missing woman. Determined to find out what happened, Enid uncovers a sinister plot that puts herself and others in grave danger.

The Fifth Stone is the 4th book in the Enid Blackwell series. The Enid Blackwell series is fantastic and The Fifth Stone just carried that even further. Enid is still living in Madden as a journalist for the newspaper her best friend Jack owns. She receives a call from the historical society regarding the 'disappearance' of the local historian. Enid, never one to back down from anything, starts asking questions and digging around for the truth of what has happened to Catherine (local historian). The search for Catherine brings with it lies, preying on the elderly, nursing home abuse, cover-ups, politics, and murder. There were times I was holding my breath in anticipation of what was going to happen next!
The suspense in Teller's 4th book in the series is expertly done as it starts early and doesn't let go. The scenes are realistic and described well in a plot that is current with contemporary issues. The characters all have meaning and I enjoyed the way Teller uses them to build the relationships or create new directions that make the reader pay attention.
The prose is eloquent and I love the pace. Each book in the series competes to be my favorite.
I have read all of The Enid Blackwell Series, wonderful read is all I can say. I feel like I live in the town with these characters. Each book written by Raegan Teller gets better than the last. I met the author last year and bought the first three books and couldn't wait to get the 4th book this year. All signed copies. Thank you, Raegan, for such good books. Deborah Graham, Newberry, SC
