The Leviathan

Rate this book
These survivors must confront the darkest secrets of their past…

Beaten, bloodied, and barely alive, the survivors of Black River’s cursed families have been cut off from their bloodlines for violating old traditions. But they continue their battle to end the evil of the Bell Witch and release the town from her reign of terror.

Pursued by the witch’s minions, the group takes shelter in the Leviathan, an abandoned opera house built a century ago. Its corridors exude supernatural power, and they soon discover that the haunted old building was designed for a very special purpose… to trap the Bell Witch within its walls.

But something else lurks within the ancient structure, something they never imagined in their darkest nightmares. And as the enemies close in, one of the survivors must risk their life in a devil’s bargain with this sinister presence.

Or none of them will survive the night…

Georgia police officers found a live newborn baby at the scene of a pre-dawn crash involving a pregnant woman earlier this week, according to a local report.

Krystal Jones was rushing her daughter, Crystan Graham, to the Gwinnett Medical Center on a wet road after she went into labor before dawn Monday, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. Jones lost control of her Chevy Tahoe and hydroplaned off the Lawrenceville Highway.

Lilburn Police Department officers frantically searched around the wreck before finding the baby in the back of an SUV, as seen in bodycam footage.

“We thought the baby might have gone out the window because there was so much debris in the back,” Officer Danny Bride told the outlet. “Our concern was whether the baby got tossed into the backseat or got tossed through the window.”

Bride and Officer Cepeda Huff were both in the area at the time of the crash, where they saw broken windows and debris strewn about. Police Sgt. Matt Madden arrived soon after.

The bodycam video shows them searching the dark, wet ground and turning up nothing. But after they move to the inside of the vehicle, Huff plucks a tiny newborn from beneath one of the seats -- alive.

“There is like a small little drop-off under the seat,” Huff told Fox 5. "And that’s where the baby laid right into a little pocket. And that’s where I found her.”

He picked her up, rushed her to a waiting ambulance, and the officers told the new mom and grandmother.

“We got your baby,” Bride says in the video. “Looks to be fine. She’s breathing and moving just fine.”

“Thank you Jesus,” Jones responds. “She’s alive!”

Baby Cea is recovering in the neonatal intensive care unit at Gwinnett Medical Center, according to the report. She weighed 3 pounds, 9 ounces

Basheba, Cadwyn, Ozzie, MIna and Jeremiah have defeated Katrina, the witch that has been killing off their family members for centuries. However, they are still being hunted by something. They believe it might be the demon that Katrina would unleash upon family members if they failed her trials. The group needs to find a safe place and according to Mina's research, Basheba's ancestral home of the Leviathan might offer enough ghost shielding to keep the demon at bay. However, the Leviathan and the Kraken that Basheba's family built it around have other plans for the group.

The Leviathan is the fifth book in The Bell Witch series and definitely needs to be read in order. The Leviathan jumps right into the action with ghastly hauntings and gory minotaur attacks and doesn't let up as the group faces multiple demons, the wrath of the kraken, Basheba's grandmother's snake, demon dogs and multiple ghosts of the people offered up to the kraken over the years. The Leviathan shows us a big dose of insight into the mysteries of Basheba's Allaway side of the family and her home. I enjoyed exploring The Leviathan and it's hidden passageways even if each nook and cranny offered up another horror. I was amazed at Basheba's secrets and her history with the kraken. Through their trials at the Leviathan, the group strengthens in their dedication to one another as they have to make difficult decisions about survival. With some big changes and new knowledge, I can't wait to see what is in store for them in the last book of the series.

Hier steckt einiges drin in diesem Teil. Man wird etwas atemlos hinterher zu kommen. Manchmal wusste ich nicht wer denn jetzt der Akteur ist, aber es ließ sich schnell auflösen. Es bleibt auf jeden Fall spannend

I was super excited for this book and it did not disappoint! There’s so much going on in this story- but not too much that it’s confusing, enough for intrigue and the need for a countdown for the next book! There’s a game changer in this one and I need to know what happens next!! I love these characters, they are amazing and so in-depth. Definitely start with The Harvest and read through the series, you won’t regret it!

Where do I even begin? This book has so many freaky elements I can't even remember them all. The Harvest crew travels to an old opera house called The Leviathan that is owned by Basheba's family, or Basheba herself since she is the last surviving member of her family. All of the players are hobbled by injuries sustained in the last book, both physical and emotional. The horrors they find in the bowels of The Leviathan defy description but they face them nonetheless. It all leads up to a final confrontation with the demon that has been haunting their families for two centuries.
I still like Basheba. I could never live with her but I like her. She is totally up front about her nuances, and some of them are pretty gruesome. I have to say that if I were ever in a situation similar to the one the characters in this book are, Basheba is the one I'd most want watching my back.
Without giving too much away, the ending dropped huge hints that there will be at least one more book in this wonderful series. I can't wait for that.

Werewolves, water witches, demons and leviathans!! This series definitely took a turn that I didn't see coming.

Each character is nursing injuries but they still have to face demons etc in this to stay alive. I honestly don't know how they are still functioning!! Something is revealed to be true about Basheba that made me like her less but more intrigued about her upbring! I would love to see her backstory eventually. The plot took an interesting turn that makes me excited for the next one and I can't really say much more because there would be too many spoilers!!

I will say it's another darkly disturbing action packed read though! While there's plenty of gore, it's more the spookiness of the plot that makes it so dark. A lot happens and there's no let up but it makes for such an awesome read.

The narrator nails the performance. His tone and voices are impressive and he knows how to bring the atmosphere to life.

What a thrill ride

I really loved The Leviathan written by Sara Clancy and the Scare Street. I didn't expect there to be another book in this series but gosh am I happy there is. This one is a fantastic continuation. The authors came up with an imaginative plot that takes us on a thrill ride with our friends. The pace is a Neverending Rollercoaster ride that leaves you wishing for nothing more. There is always something happening. There were some nice twists and turns in this one I didn't see coming.

The book had an unexpected ending that was perfect and it sure seems like there will be at least one more book. I can't wait to see what will happen next!

God I love this series! And basheba is bad to the bone funny yet venomous! Def want her as a friend! 😳 there has to be another book because Barnaby and Claudia need their asses handed to them! Barnaby only got a small taste of what basheba has in store for them both! And I anticipate that being a sea witch will have major repercussions for cadwyn... but his furry has been building and something like this was not unforeseen... this was the most intense book of the series for this group! Please tell me this will keep goin??? These peeps are way too much a part of my life now...

A Little Convoluted

I read all 6 books in the Bell Witch series. The driver to do this was primarily for the characters, and secondary for the plot. But the plot started to fall apart or get too muddled for me after the 3rd book. In a way it was disappointing. The main characters started to get too far out there about the 4th book. I honestly believe the author should have left both the plot and characters alone. The scene settings were fairly decent and remained constant throughout the series. All in all it was worth the time and effort, and I found it enjoyable.

Book 4: The Leviathan missed the mark for me. I’ve enjoyed this series so far, but this book had me detesting some of my favorite characters. Basheba, while I’ve come to like her “this is me, take it or leave it” attitude, takes it a bit too far in this book for me. I really want to know what’s up with Cadwyn’s “fevers,” still no explanation, just that’s it’s “supernatural.” I did enjoy seeing Mina and Ozzy overcoming their fears in this book. The author is a good storyteller, with lots of details. Not horrible, but not my favorite in the series either.

Definitely start with Book 1, The Harvest. This is a fast-paced series with very likable characters, along with some deplorable ones of course. Unpredictable storylines that keep you guessing and sometimes creep you out. Sara does a good job tying each story together and developing character dynamics. I can't wait to see where the series goes next.

As the group bands together, they discover that they have been banned from their families. Power seems to be a constant struggle, and as the two sides battle over which is correct, the horror continues.

Within the Leviathan, they are determined to stop the monster once and for all - but new horrors await, and there is going to be one consequence that no one is prepared to deal with...

Good read! Enjoyed this one! Can't wait to see how this series winds up!

I love this series

Thought out characters, Anerican history, twists, turds, witches, cults and horror, oh my. It’s a great alternative to Anerican history on the bell witch, brought to modern times, if your ready for a roller coaster of seeing good, evil, ancient packs and modern evil, read the series... so with it!

Good series

I read books 1-4 of this series. They were all good and the story was good. I gave it four stars because it wasn't always clear on the events and was at times confusing. Not so much that the books were not enjoyed.

This is the fifth in the Bell Witch series and the most fun and fast paced of the books. This one had everything from demons, ghosts, hell hounds and a kraken. I love the small group of characters that Ms. Clancy has developed along the way in the series.

(Un)Holy moly!

I don't even know where to begin. Our group doesn't get a lot of downtime in this book. Even less than the other books! I lost track of the different things they fought! So exciting, and there are a few major changes that occur. I'm moving right on to #6!

I love this story so much and find the characters incredibly enjoyable.

I only wish the six books were condensed into three. The story feels a little slow but that is the only critique I have had so far.

While I can’t say this was as good as the first four books. Nor that all the ends were tied up. It was still a really great book! Buck is still my favorite of the gang but everyone has a favorite.
