I've had my eye on Sophie even though, I've never met her in person. Other guys are talking about her, about making a move. I have to claim her. Now.
Sophie
Even before I knew what he looked like, he made me laugh. Now that he's here in front of me, I'm pretty sure I'm hallucinating. If there's even a chance he means what he says, can I take the risk?
I write steamy romance that’s safe, funny, and totally over the top. My heroes are always alpha males because the stronger they are, the harder they fall. Luckily the smart, sassy heroines know how to catch them and make everything better!
I never get tired of believing that love can show up unexpectedly and with determination. That it can find you anywhere, even curled up on the couch, in your jammies, while eating ice cream and binging romance novels. Then a knock on the door reveals your gorgeous new neighbor that you didn’t even know had moved in… or maybe it’s that hot friend of your dad’s you only know through photos…
Possibly the HEAs come easier because my home and office are in a romantic clearing of giant evergreens in the Pacific Northwest. Think Snow White without the Dwarves. But I do have a bounty of wild animals that come to visit. There’s even a resident nuthatch that talks to itself (constantly)! And there *are* currently seven chickens in the henhouse…
Tyler and Sophie both work for ACI, he as a soldier for hire and she’s the one that does the schedules for the men to get to their psychological evaluations. Meaning she makes sure they get through all the steps of the process and on time. One of the Man-children, is Tyler.
He liked to constantly email her and dispute every step as to why he has to do it so soon, when the paperwork itself says, it’s good for two more months. As she, and he himself knows, he being the one who does get deployed so often, and so quickly. They want to make psychologically that he’s not doing it too soon, or too fast.
She starts to notice him calling her princess. She acts put off, but she banters with him, in fun. But on the day he’s flying out early to officially meet her before his evaluation. He wants to hopefully take her out on that same day for lunch. She cuts him short, in response.
He knows somethings up. On Monday, he’s waiting at her desk, when he sweeps her up, and she seems frightened and confused. He had to show his dog tags to her, because someone was acting as him, making her feel as if he didn’t like her, now that they were in person. Which hurt her feelings.
This couldn’t be farthest from the truth. See where this tale takes you. Sexually active couple who fall in instalove. Totally enjoy this series one book left standalone books. I read out of order for sure. Kindle Unlimited free 11/14/20.
Romance genre: Series: Men of A Corps Length: 54 pages
Plot: Tyler and Sophie work for the same company, but Tyler is one of their field agents while Sophie works in the office. She has to schedule the soldiers for their psych evals, and she and Tyler strike up an email correspondence. He keeps writing her to rile her up and because he can tell that she could be the woman for him.
Commentary: I really enjoyed this one! Tyler was adorable with the way he kept writing back, not giving her the answer she wanted so she would have to respond. I always wonder in these stories when the man is all "you don't see the way men look at you - they all want you!" Is that really what's happening or is that what he sees/assumes because he's in love with her. My husband does the same thing, and I'm like, no, everybody is not lusting after me. Anyways, so much fun!
No. Just no. This is a story about lust, not love. That needs to be made clear. And it’s got a creepiness factor to it, as well. I think the writer based the story on a lot of wishful thinking, and not at all the way the world works. Someone young, without experience in the real world yet, will definitely get a wrong – and potentially dangerous – idea about relationships from reading this little book.
This is a short story (48 Kindle pages) about an older man (we aren’t told how old, but somewhere in his forties) and a younger girl in her early twenties. It feels as if it were written by a man. All that happens is male-oriented. It’s about what men enjoy, particularly in bed. The girl/woman? Does not matter. She’s a bit of fluff that the dominant male falls “in love” with because of the way she handles his appointments in her email messages to him. Hmmm.
Sophie hates her job and her supervisor, equally. She is described as “this overstuffed sofa” by the hero’s brother, no less. Yuck. Tyler is the military operative, or field consultant, a “gorgeous hunk of man,” as Sophie sees him. It’s all about appearances. There is absolutely no depth to either of these characters.
Tyler is in lust and wants Sophie. She goes along with it. This is part of that creepiness factor creeping in. Here’s an older man who is ready to settle down and make babies with someone…anyone…and here’s Sophie whom he has been cyber-stalking. He thinks she looks like Snow White, and he has a lusty passion for the Disney character. (Can we all see Walt Disney rolling over in his grave?) Tyler particularly lusts after Sophie/Snow’s frontal appendages (yeah, her breasts).
There're all kinds of wrong in their sex scenes. First, they are monumentally devoid of emotion, just a lot of moaning and groaning and moving around. And, more importantly, it’s bam, sex, and no condom. Not even discussed. Hello? STD, anyone? And our intrepid hero? Wants to get her pregnant so she can’t leave him. This is what the writer wants us to consider love…? Again, hmmm.
Tyler’s brother has a couple scenes and appears to be a deadbeat slob. I’m not sure what purpose he served. Maybe his abusive description of Sophie was the purpose, so Tyler could tell his brother that “No one talks to Sophie like that. Not now. Not ever.” I don’t know…seems contrived to me. The whole story is contrived. If this happened in the real world, we all know that in six weeks, Tyler would be on to his next Snow White conquest because he forgot to find out if Sophie had a personality. Sophie would be wondering what happened to the man who used to warm her bed and perform all those sex acts minus condoms. And maybe she’d be pregnant. Regardless…Tyler would be long gone, on to his next true love.
I rated this book 2 stars. It was a difficult read, written in first person, present tense. That is a contrived style, but then so is the book, so quite possibly it was the perfect POV and verb tense. No more of these short stories for me, thank you. And one last Hmmm.
My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.
Tyler is a field operative for Alpha Corp International, Sophie is his liaison in the office, she is an artist who has to work a regular to pay the bills. Her and Tyler have been corresponding via email for a while, curious about her Tyler looks her up and finds an old YouTube artist video she made and is instantly smitten. He knows some of the other guys are interested in her but he has been waiting to retire from ACI before pursuing a relationship with her. But when he overhears one of the other operatives says he’s going to ask her out when his assignment ends Tyler decides to act. Small misunderstanding when Tyler’s brother who is going through some stuff comes in wearing his military jacket and ignores Sophie she thinks he’s a jerk. When the real Tyler shows up she changes her mind quick. She’s attracted to him immediately and agrees to a date. Dinner, sexy times, and the next day visiting his house his brother is currently crashed at. Little more trouble with him but Tyler sets him straight. A proposal and Tyler’s overseas assignment fell through so he’s officially retired and Sophie quits to move in with Tyler. Epilogue with them married and wanting to start a family. Unanswered question of how his brother was able at get into the ACI secure offices. Tyler thinks to ask about it but book ends with no answer.

Ok, I’ve got multiple questions and problems with this story.
First of all, WTF?!!? The premise of this story is just bonkers - a guy with a fetish for Snow White ends up, essentially, kidnapping a coworker from her job, molests her, and then they get engaged to be married 2 days later?!? And she’s cool with it?!!? Nevermind the fact that his sketchy half brother is living in a cabin in the woods but somehow manages to sneak into a military-equipped security building… For what reason exactly? Who TF knows, because that was never explained. Also, the brother was a douchebag for fat shaming the FMC.
In addition, the sex scenes were pretty cringe worthy as well.
A pretty good short story to read in a single sitting. The story was cute, but not quite the military romance I was expecting (the MMC was former military, but that’s about as “military” as it got). The story was fine, it was insta-love, but you did get a peak into the backstory of the two MCs, so you get the idea that you are starting after they have already made some kind of connection. I’m all for alpha males, but there were a few times in this story that Tyler gave me a weird vibe, maybe too many LMN movies in my past. I don’t really see myself reading anything more from this author.
If your looking for a quick read to read over your lunch hour, this one is for you.
This is an older man/younger woman type of book. Tyler is a man who is ready to be done with military life. The happiest part of his day is emailing Sophie and her smart responses. He knows from a couple short emails that she is the one for him.
Sophie is a woman who can be strong but yet also feels a little invisible. She is working at a job that she really doesn't like but yet it pays the bills. The only fun part of her job is the emails from Ty.
I do love me some alpba males, but this one was sweet with a fairy tale... Inspiration? Tyler has the hots for Snow White and finds himself a real life one in Sophie, but it never felt weird. It wasn't a fetish, but like a fascination with the character, and as someone also fascinated with fairy tales... I get that.
I would've appreciated some more exposition on Tyler's half brother, though, because it felt like a useless or under utilized plot point.
If you want a very short, smutty read, this is a good one. But if you want realistic plot line? This ain’t going to do it. Tyler and Sophie meet and immediately are in a relationship. Which I understand there wasn’t much room for waiting since this is a 54 page book, but still. And military men do move fast. 🤷🏼♀️🤣
This one was rough to get through. Even though it’s a short read I struggled to get through it. I wanted to love it and could even see the potential of it being really good. But with the speed that Tyler was running I would have ran for the hills if I had been Sophie. He moved WAY TOO fast for my liking!
Sophie has been working for this Military Corp. She has been sending emails to Tyler for testing he needs done. This is the extent of their interactions.
Tyler has already looked up Sophie and his childhood crush has come to be real.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book in fact I 💘loved it. I like the romance and the close relationship between the two main characters. Would I recommend this book, most defiantly. Kept me interested the whole time.
Quick and witty. These guys have waited long enough it seems because they fall for the woman immediately! Love at first sight? Perhaps. It does seem like it and it makes for a quick steamy read. Looking forward to reading the rest of the HOT guys.
Overall it is a good quick read however it is really difficult to get a lot of info on a short story. The meet and I’m in love thing is really not my thing but still worth the read.
I loved this steamy book with Sophie and Tyler. He was fierce but soft and loving. Here really loved Sophie and would do anything for her. It has a Happily Ever After, which i always love. I highly recommend this short book. Happy Reading!!!!
It happens fast and yet the characters feel real. That's the sign of intelligent writing by an author that knows what she's doing. Lots of spice and graphic choreography in a very short (read-too short) story of instalove. Or better yet, a quickie.
1.5 STARS, I didn't hate it but won't read it again either. The fact it is 54 pages makes it a fast read, but I looked at the rest of the series and this author wants 2.99 for the next book and it isn't even 60 pages! NO
This is a very fast read, fanciful, steamy romance. However, it's kind of a fun interlude to longer books. I liked the characters. I'm not a fan of steam but I still found the short story entertaining.
I finished this short story/book a little while ago and I enjoy reading it. It was very interesting and I enjoyed reading it very much I will work on getting the others for this series.
Definitely insta love over the top. But it's pretty adorable. Sophie is a fun character and Tyler is pretty funny and how he approaches his courtship of her.
