Lucy Langton was born in Boston but currently lives in Maine with her husband and their beautiful twin daughters.
She has a PhD in English literature from Columbia University. Her field of expertise was 19th-century British novel. After college, she went backpacking in Europe where she met her husband. It was love at first sight!
Lucy knew she wanted to be a writer ever since she was a little girl, writing stories from different eras to read to her little brother. Her first story felt like a dream come true.
When she’s not writing, she enjoys painting, eating pizza and baking… not necessarily in that order! She also identifies herself as the biggest Jane Austen fan!
@50% ⎼ oh, thank god! This book nightmare is finally over! . . Wait…it isn’t over? I’m only done with 50%?!?
*major sulking, pouting and tantrum throwing* Finally gathers up the courage to read ahead:
@69% ⎼ it goes like this:
Catherine is mad at Marcus (her husband) and she has reason to be cause he didn’t trust her and threw her away, not that I blame him, he found her with another guy in her bed. Now she is wary of him because he didn’t trust her. And their conversation goes something like this:
*Catherine doesn’t trust Marcus* *Marcus is sexually frustrated* *He is trying stuff to make her trust him again..*
Marcus: ”I think we should try something” Catherine: “Oh! What is that?” Marcus: “I think we should be intimate again. It would allow us to feel what we felt for each other”
*Catherine’s inner thoughts: if she and Marcus were to have a happy marriage, the only way to that would be to be intimate with him on a regular basis.*
Because, of course the only way to trust a person is to be “intimate” with them. I’m sorry, my mistake.
That part was literally the last straw for me. But, as you guys may probably already know, I’m a lover of self-sabotage, which was why I read ahead and surprise, surprise being “intimate” did help them….a lot. Am I the only one who got some Corrupt vibes here? Kai healing by having a threesome with Rika and Michael?
Anyway, I obviously hated this book and wouldn’t recommend it. I had high hopes from this one, because it was my first historical romance but I’m probably gonna stay away from this trope for now.

Miss Catherine Hall finds herself in a predicament after her parents' death because her young brother, the new Earl of Sedgewick, has squandered their family fortunes. She will likely soon become homeless and a spinster without her dowry. Her options are now limited, so she becomes a companion for Lady Evergreen, at the manor of Lord Marcus Kingston, the new Viscount Ralston. After the death of Marcus' unmarried brother, he finds himself in a predicament as an infant nephew appears. He won't raise the child as a bastard, he needs to find a wife. There's only one immediate option, arrange to marry Catherine so the child will be raised as theirs while also providing security for her. Arranged marriages happen all the time, but their feelings suddenly start to change. Enjoy the developing plot as things begin to sizzle while more trouble brews. A beautiful story by Ms Lzngton.
Loved Marcus and Catherine’s story. After loosing her parents and her younger brother squander his inheritance and her dowry she needed to find work. She became a companion to an amazing woman. While at the orphanage she meets her companions nephew. Marcus comes home to be the new Earl after his brother dies. All he’s known was the Navy. He meets his Aunts companion and is intrigued. When he gets home he finds his house in an uproar with a baby that was left on his door step. The note attached says the girl is his brothers child. When he tells his aunt of the dilemma she suggests he marry her companion since she was raised to be a lady. He offers she accepts and is happy to be mother to Beth. Unfortunately someone wants to ruin Catherines life. An intriguing story with a wonderful ending.
This is a wonderful story! I absolutely loved it. Lucy Langton did a great job with writing this book. The story line is terrific, it pulls you in and holds your interest from cover to cover. The book is very well written and the characters are wonderful and engaging. It's action packed and full of adventure and romance, and kept me on the edge of my seat from page to page wondering what would happen next. Of course, it has a wonderful, heart-warming happily ever after ending for Catherine and Marcus; and I loved both the epilogue and the extended epilogue. If you love a well-written book, this story is a definite must-read!
It would appear Aunt Daniella knew best. I got a new arc from Lucy Langton and I am thrilled. The characters enter into a marriage of convenience but is not all it seems when a villain shows up to muck the whole thing up. Catherine faces life as a spinster then she meets Marcus who is raising his infant nephew and they enter into marriage. Then the twist that destroyed it all and Catherine returns home with the snake called brother. That is not all because more twists are coming. I really like the characters and the challenges they faced and I loved how they were going to spend Christmas.
Marcus enters into a marriage of convenience with Catherine to secure a future in Society for his orphaned niece. When a man with a grudge against Catherine returns into her life to cause harm, he gains help from her brother by bribing him with the means to pay off his debts to his creditors. Marcus falls for the ruse and bans Catherine from his home, thus sending her home with her brother that has betrayed her.
To Tempt a Dashing Lord A Historical Regency Romance Book
A very good and enjoyable story about love and family and friends and forgiveness. Marcus is an Earl that has a baby left on his doorstep so he married Catherine a young woman that was born a noble but due to circumstances is working as a helper .The plot is a good one and The characters are strong and emotional A good read
Liked that Marcus and Catherine's marriage of convenience led to love. She should've told Marcus about the Earl assaulting her when he showed up at her home for the ball. Also, she should've been honest about her brother's problems. Glad the Earl died and Denver was redeemed. Great idea to turn Catherine's childhood home into an orphanage. Good romance story with some twists and turns.
A very well written story that is so good it has you on the edge of your seat. Two people who need each other because of circumstances that were unavoidable in their lives. Scared of the unknown, very emotional, suspenseful, intriguing, surprising and much more. Can they make this attraction into much more? I highly recommend it. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
This is another brilliantly written story that is full of surprises and some great emotional moments. The extended epilogue as always is beautifully written and finishes the characters story's brilliantly. This is a book that will suit anyone who loves a hot 🔥historical romance with plenty of intrigue. I read an ARC copy

The romance had a rocky beginning, however Lambton wove a path that brought the lovers together in an honest and meaningful way. I truly enjoyed the aunt. What a spitfire she is. Her character ensured the lovers would have a successful marriage.
I love all of Lucy's book they are all wonderful I love the story of Catherine and Marcus after all of what Catherine has been through it's good for her to have a happy ending.
A very convoluted story with a truly great ending following much mystery and excitement in a good way. I was enthralled by this story which took many twists and turns.
