I learned a lot from Franklin's lives, since his childhood to elderly state he always keep and maintain to be productive and active throughout his career.

He is indeed a multi-disciplinary man, trying lot of things from invented one of the most important invention in science world, to politics, economics, policy-maker, writer, etc..

He doesn't stop in one discipline but the other way around. Money is not the end target for him, it's just a tool to obtain better life quality and feeling of comfort. Although he reached very wealthy state during his life, he still maintain a very low-key lifestyle with considerably low spending on unnecessary luxuries

I wondered why Benjamin Franklin was so popular in France when I read the biography of John Adams, so now I understand why having read this book. His life was so interesting. For a person who only had two years of formal school, he achieved a lot in life. A self-taught genius.

I picked this book up on a whim. Ben Franklin is one of the most intriguing of the Founding Fathers, and I didn't really know a lot about him other than the lore that is taught in school. I was especially interested in his negotiations with the French during the Revolution, and this book didn't disappoint in that regard. What I found most intriguing, however, was Fisher's treatment of Franklin's religious journey. So may people argue about whether Franklin was a Deist (and what exactly a Deist is) or whether he believed in a God at all. The problem is that many people try to use a snapshot of Franklin to defend their position. Fisher's book looks at Franklin's religious journey, first away from God and then back to Him.

Don't let the publication date of this book scare you. It was written in the late 1900s, but it is so well written that today's reader should have no problem with it. In fact, the clarity of style is better than much of what is being written today.

I learned a lot about Franklin that was new to me....especially detail of his earlier life (prior to the war of Independence). He invented the lightning rod and describes details of other inventions that he designed but never built. He was quite a party guy while in France. Best biography that I have read so far.

mine was not the large print, I can still see ok. Any book about Franklin is interesting. this was not an exception
