What a super sweet slow burn this turned out to be!
Get ready for bucket loads of pining and longing because this fanfiction will surely tug on your heartstrings. (If you liked Andy's pining in Telanu's Truth and Measure then there is a good chance you will like this fic as well.) Yes it's a Swan Queen fic and it has an element of magic but that is really a minor detail and it can be read by anyone.
Regina gets banished from Storybrooke and due to an invisible magical barrier at the town line, no one can leave or enter the town again. Soon however Emma starts to experience cabin fever in the small town and she starts showing up at the border only to find Regina there as well. As time passes both women keep meeting and slowly form a tentative friendship. The problem is their feelings for each other start changing but how can you have a relationship when you can't touch each other without being zapped by an electrical current?
The only thing that I missed in this fic were more chapters or perhaps an epilogue. After waiting and wanting to be together for so long the ending, though great, felt a little abrupt and is why this get's a 4,5* rating.
*This is the same author that wrote Meet Me Halfway. So if you like that book, give this a shot.

Nicely written Once Upon a Time fanfic aka "Swan Queen" pairing between Emma Swan and the Evil Queen Regina Mills. I do not watch the show so I did not know the how or why they ended up separated - the Storybrooke residents (including Emma) are behind an invisible, impenetrable wall and The Evil Queen/Mayor/Regina is banished outside in the "real world". The author does a good job revealing how they ended up in this situation as the story progresses.
This is truly a slow burn romance. Because they are separated, they progress from enemies, to friends to lovers - unable to touch and just talk on either side of the barrier. If I remember correctly it takes place over a course of 2 years.
If any of you can recommend any other favorite OUAT/Swan Queen fiction, I'd appreciate it! I prefer Uber, but not opposed to straight (so to speak) fanfic.

Having read this fic, a staple of the Swan Queen community, I can understand why it's earned that description. Although short, the story focuses on the two women and how their interactions help each to understand and define who they are. Regina and Emma cannot physically touch throughout their developing relationship which forces them to fall in love for who they are, not solely based on attraction.
It's a good little story about these two ladies, an easy introduction to the wonderful, broad reality that is the fandom.

5 stars. Perfect balance of angst, heartfelt moments, and a lovely romance. Regina is banished and there's an invisible force between her and the town. Emma meets her just at the edge of town and the two bond and it is beautiful. I couldn't get enough. A very soft romance and the ending was absolutely fantastic. It's short but is well developed and gorgeously written. hunnyfresh is one of my favorite writers of the fandom for sure.

A beautiful slow-burn story. Regina is cast out of Storybrook and a magical barrier is erected to keep her and everyone else out. The problem with that is that no one in Storybrook can leave. Emma and Regina meet at the edge of town nearly every day and slowly fall in love. Regina excepts her exile but Emma does not.
