This was the best Nate Temple book yet. So much was included to show every aspect of Nate that there is to see, including his softer side, which has been a touch absent from the past few books. What a story Shayne told in this one! Every possible element you could possibly want in one book was in Carnage.
We get to see Nate in so many positions: compromised, chastised, motivated, vindictive, vicious, loving, and redeemed. In which order is for you to find out when you read this wonderful back to the basics book with our Nate Temple. Shayne definitely outdid himself with this one, and thank goodness he did. This is the Shayne Silvers we all have come to know and love.
This is one of those reviews where I can't say anything because anything I say will be a giveaway. Very frustrating. But I can tell you that everyone is in it. We get to see everyone again, and in such weird and crazy circumstances, and with some exciting and intriguing scenes that you just get lost in, only coming out when your body screams for attention. This is the Shayne Silvers that I have been following for over 3 years and will follow until he puts down his pen and says enough...which means forever. I feel so lucky to have been around when his earlier books came out. He's not just an amazing author, he's a good man. And that is a wonderful combination.
Carnage brings out everything Shayne wanted to say and do with Nate and company, most of which are unexpected and complete Holy Sh*t moments. And those are the best kind! I love to discover new things about old favorites in a series. And I love intrigue that leaves me guessing. Believe me, this has it, in spades.
That is pretty much all I can say without giving things away, and I don't do spoilers. So, to wrap up, Shayne is back in the house in Carnage! Thank goodness!
Excellently done, Shayne Silvers! So Excellently done I savored it for longer than I should have! You've done Templeverse proud with Carnage. Can't imagine how you're going to top it with Angehellic. Giving 5 stars on this is not enough. And that is a sentiment that I find myself feeling so very often with you.

Lost its' way
I have read ALL the Nate Temple books to date. I enjoyed the series and always looked forward to the next, but, I feel the author has lost his way somewhat and I am sorry to say that, despite wanting to stick with it, I have abandoned the book half way through. There is far too much internal dialogue, soul searching and lovelorn angst to keep me interested. The continual philosophising inside Nate's head is monotonous. This series started out as stories about wizards, demons, weres, fae and other fantastical beings but has dissolved into lengthy hand wringing and male sexual fantasies! I don't really care who his true love is, if I wanted that type of book I'd look at the romance section!
I am very disappointed and think that it is about time Nate retired to Chateaux Falco with whichever woman is his destiny and enjoy a quieter life. The early books were brill but this does not do them any favours :(. Sorry.

I’ve said this before, and I’ll probably say it again: I’ve been with this author almost since the beginning, and I am constantly amazed at the way he can make the English language to darn entertaining! This is the latest in the Templeverse, and we find Nate at war once again with a god. Although this time, the god is aiming for Nate’s family. In the middle of this, he needs to find out what he heart really wants to aid him in his quest. I was quite surprised by the end of this book, as I am with most of this author’s works to be honest, but really I didn’t see that one coming. This author’s mind produces such a labyrinth of words in an action-filled story, the reader can never predict what’s coming; you just to hold on for the wild ride. I’m waiting to see what’s coming next in the great Templeverse. Highly recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Pure genius and brilliantly mental! Nate's journey has him feeling a bit blue, as he sifts through his emotions and mentality, all while preparing for an epic showdown. But can Hope sort himself out before taking on an alpha deity, or will he become one of the monsters he normally fights?
Action, heart, hilarity, and answers to so many questions from previous books, some of which we hadn't thought to ask.

Bleh far, far too much stupid in this one..find your one true love malarky a la Disney and he pulls the same BS as in his Shade of Devil series with the love interests and turns it into some insipid soul mate crap.
It's like he has some angsty teenager idea of what love is and how relationships work.......and is putting that in his book as some cheap plot twist device.
I just hope he doesn't ruin the ending of this series like he did in his Shade of Devil series......

CARNAGE : (Book 14 Nate Temple Series) : SHAYNE SILVERS.
TOE-TAH-LEE DA-BOMB
AND GOD-DAMNED GOLD!!!
The last Nate Temple book I read was just 2 months ago in Book # 4 'Silver Tongue', next I read Book #14 'Carnage' so there's a huge void of missing books, information, characters, events and plots in-between these 2 books.
When I last saw Nate, he had defeated the 'Grimm's', then a 'Silver Tongue' devil while mastering that skill himself, was madly in love with his girlfriend Indie and was about to propose marriage to.
Personally I'm not an Indiana Rippley fan and find her a bit vanilla (well boring as bat shit really) and as I'm yet to read a single Callie Penrose novel, I had no knowledge of their relationship until this book, and am quite surprised.
So I gotta say, this book was Da Bomb!
Or better yet described, it's Russian equivalent of Defanged B-52!!!
If your into the sexy Anti-Hero kinda guy, who slowly converts over time into the Good Guy Hero status kinda guy, is far from perfect, doesn't always get it right or win the fight. Is constantly on the wrong end of a severe beat down, likes to take the mickey out of everyone, including himself, is someone who oozes charm like pheromones, has a great sense of humour and a wit so quick & sharp its comparable to a razor blade?
Well then This Man, This Wizard, This Maker, not only has the smarts, skills, looks and powers, but has a heart of gold and truly cares for the innocent, the down & out, children (even those evil little girl scouts), Freaks and Regulars both, his town, his city and her people.
Well then Nate Temple is 'The Man' you have been looking for!
Carnage is one of the best Nate Temple books according to the majority of Shayne's Silvers Facebook family, The Den of Freaks!"
Silvers' devious mind is at his magical best and has them both up to their ears in 'Carnage' conundrums & chaos.
This story takes us the reader along a warring rollercoaster ride of emotion and self discovery, a journey to find his heart, the meaning of love, his role in this world, his true love and family.
Part two of this incredible three part, 3-way crossover instalment between Shayne Silvers' Three Templeverse series heroes and heroines is now half way completed and it will leave you utterly breathless and mind blown!
Shayne's writing style flows easily like a great conversation, a song or bottle of wine and he is for me, an author who is an easy read. When everything is going wrong I'm my world, I just want to snuggle down with a Shayne Silvers book and get lost in his imagination. Shayne's writes in a style that's similar to what we learnt in English in high school & collage in Australia and what makes it so easy & familiar.
He takes a breath, where I would take a breath, adding a comma, where I'd add a comma and finishes a sentence, where I'd end a sentence.
I find his style and flow much more enjoyable compared to many other authors I have read of late & why I keep coming back.
Shayne's specializes in multiple aspects of writing. His character development is beyond compare, I can honestly say I feel he truly excels here and is why his books are so popular and always hit #1 on the best seller list on release day.
It's not just his main characters, but secondary & third line characters too or those mentioned in passing that are incredible, so full of life and draw you in.
It's not who they are (as many are well known, taken out of the pages of history real or imagined), but its what he does with them that is truly impressive.
Many are so endearing, they feel like they're apart of your life, family & friends and all will make you feel something, whether that be laughter & light inside to wanting to sing & dance, love or hate, or to make you cry & despair. I've gone from laughing so hard after taking a drink which my poor tablet wears as liquid pours from my mouth and yes then the nose while uncontrollably laughing in hysterics, to bawling like a new born babe the next with a lump the size of the Grand Canyon in my throat and enough tears to fill it.
These characters are the type you'd choose to have around you, the one's you'd want as your clique, your group, your mates, your people.
Next you have the world building and there's this unbelievable Templeverse (universe), and while it's very similar to the world we live in, at other's it just as alien as Mars or Saturn.
Seriously I don't know how he keeps it all straight in his head with over 30+ books, there's so many characters, places, realms, modes of transport, world's, species & events, they jumps in space, time and from world to world and the gadgets & magical devices are limited by the imagination, he is simply put, phenomenal at what he does!
His words are so precise, elaborate and descriptively detailed it reads as if
you're watching a motion picture on the silver screen (a place it should toe-tah-lee be btw or better yet as a series on the small screen of Amazon, Foxtel or Netfix, but instead of being splashed across these screens, you eyewitness it firsthand, in of your minds eye, the one place where both your creativity intertwine giving life to the wonderful prose of a meticulously expressive wordsmith and the prowess of your own imagination, bringing it to fruition, to a life of its own.
Feeling as though you're a part of it, stepping into the shoes, playing a role in this story that your participating in.
Shayne Silvers is a genius at what he does and has an out of this world knack of building excitement suspense and drama at just the right moment bringing about the most outlandish and climatic conclusions in each & every book.
Shayne's writing always feels fresh, exciting, inviting & invigorating, but familiar & comfortable at the same time as in you sort of know what your in for but with many shocks and surprises along the way.
Its like coming home, at the end of a crappy day, putting on your favourite sweats & ugg boots, flicking off your bra, and being enveloped in a giant warm embrace by one you love in winter as you snuggle into your favourite reading nook. And while he may be an easy read, that by no means, means it'll be a boring read, actually nothing could be further from the truth. There's never any down time in a Shayne Silvers book and if that's what your looking for, you're in the wrong place, I'd suggest a romance novel or a holiday.
These books are like an endurance marathon, they get the blood pumping, the mind thinking and the pulse racing with excitement, action and magic and you're in it for the long haul.
Times they are a changing.
For clearly Shayne Silver ‘and his alter-ego Nate Temple, out do and out shine all in this book, even the mighty god Apollo, (the sun god, god of all son's, lol).
Star and creator show us a 'softer' or more 'evolved sensitive side'. Are both men evolving? Have they reached that certain age where creator & his alter-ego become men of maturity? Time to grow up, put life into perspective, while still keeping that foot to the floor, full throttle action, chaos and 'Carnage', which'll culminate into one of the biggest and baddest showdowns of all time with the one and only legendary god of gods, Zeus, God Of Thunder and his scheming Kin?
The name dropping is absolutely shameless as always and out of this world, literally. Bringing together the ultimate ensemble with a cast of gods and goddesses, deities and supernatural freaks of all varieties from across all realms, realities, cultures, pantheons, the universes and lore!
In Book # 14 Nate & Carl find themselves guests of the mighty Zeus or better stated prisoners, on the wrong end of some pretty horrific beat downs by two of Zeus' sons Aries & Apollo, but at least the other 2 children Hermes & Aphrodite show some restraint which takes us full circle all the way back to book #1 in 'Obsidian Son', the biggest long game con & power play of all time (sorry no spoilers here).
Nate becomes wrapped up in the arms of the goddess of Love as Aphrodite opens up his eyes, heart & mind showing Nate the true importance of succeeding in life, but Nate will need to decide for himself, can he truly trust Aphrodite, she is Zeus' daughter after all, and blood is always thicker than water, and is she just playing him or playing with him?
Clearly Silvers has many strengths & attributes when it comes to his writing, but this book is very different to all others, in all four series.
Its not just Nate that’s undergoing a change in lifestyle here, but I believe we're seeing a transformation of both author and alter-ego (although it's fair to say, the author is already there, happily married to the woman of his dreams with a beautiful family, the dream career and stunning home).
Shayne's strength in this piece lays within the important issues of life, not the magic, not wining at all cost and not accumulating power, but in bringing about a change in Nate, allowing his heart, his maturity to really shine through opening him up to true love and I think this is why this book works, as Shayne is already there.
The meaning and sentiments behind the journey this wild sarcastic head strong crazy know it all, billionaire playboy wizarding genius finally comes to realise is a lesson we must all learn sooner or later, life is more than the ownership of materialistic things, its not about the money, the power, the status, the importance of life is love, family & home.
Nate's been through Hell and back, but this journeys and the battles he's faced have made the man, forcing him take a long hard look at his life, his heart, his love and with the aid of Aphrodite, Nate is about to undergo the metamorphosis of a lifetime. During Nate's journey of self discovery we see the arrogant boy finally grow up, maturing, turning into the man we all knew he could one day be, the one, we have all been rooting for, the hero who will save us all including himself, and it's why we love Nate so.
In a way Nate has never been so raw, vulnerable & open, opening his heart which was completely shut down & closed off after Indiana,.
Aphrodite & Nate's work is the culmination of everything that's meaningful to us as human beings and animals alike, hope, friends, love, home, children and family.
We find all the usual laughing out loud moments of hilarity that Silvers' is famous for & they'll have you holding your aching jaw, sides and face.
He is the Maestro of Madness after all and the Terrorist of Tears, but will they be tears of joy & happiness you shed or tears of sadness, loss and sorrow and will Nate acquire this happy ending & find his true love and if so who will she be?

The name dropping is absolutely shameless as always and out of this world, literally. Bringing together the ultimate ensemble with a cast of gods and goddesses, deities and supernatural freaks of all varieties from across all realms, realities, cultures, pantheons, the universes and lore!
In Book # 14 Nate & Carl find themselves guests of the mighty Zeus or better stated prisoners, on the wrong end of some pretty horrific beat downs by two of Zeus' sons Aries & Apollo, but at least the other 2 children Hermes & Aphrodite show some restraint which takes us full circle all the way back to book #1 in 'Obsidian Son', the biggest long game con & power play of all time (sorry no spoilers here).
Nate becomes wrapped up in the arms of the goddess of Love as Aphrodite opens up his eyes, heart & mind showing Nate the true importance of succeeding in life, but Nate will need to decide for himself, can he truly trust Aphrodite, she is Zeus' daughter after all, and blood is always thicker than water, and is she just playing him or playing with him?
Clearly Silvers has many strengths & attributes when it comes to his writing, but this book is very different to all others, in all four series.
Its not just Nate that’s undergoing a change in lifestyle here, but I believe we're seeing a transformation of both author and alter-ego (although it's fair to say, the author is already there, happily married to the woman of his dreams with a beautiful family, the dream career and stunning home).
Shayne's strength in this piece lays within the important issues of life, not the magic, not wining at all cost and not accumulating power, but in bringing about a change in Nate, allowing his heart, his maturity to really shine through opening him up to true love and I think this is why this book works, as Shayne is already there.
The meaning and sentiments behind the journey this wild sarcastic head strong crazy know it all, billionaire playboy wizarding genius finally comes to realise is a lesson we must all learn sooner or later, life is more than the ownership of materialistic things, its not about the money, the power, the status, the importance of life is love, family & home.
Nate's been through Hell and back, but this journeys and the battles he's faced have made the man, forcing him take a long hard look at his life, his heart, his love and with the aid of Aphrodite, Nate is about to undergo the metamorphosis of a lifetime. During Nate's journey of self discovery we see the arrogant boy finally grow up, maturing, turning into the man we all knew he could one day be, the one, we have all been rooting for, the hero who will save us all including himself, and it's why we love Nate so.
In a way Nate has never been so raw, vulnerable & open, opening his heart which was completely shut down & closed off after Indiana,.
Aphrodite & Nate's work is the culmination of everything that's meaningful to us as human beings and animals alike, hope, friends, love, home, children and family.
We find all the usual laughing out loud moments of hilarity that Silvers' is famous for & they'll have you holding your aching jaw, sides and face.
He is the Maestro of Madness after all and the Terrorist of Tears, but will they be tears of joy & happiness you shed or tears of sadness, loss and sorrow and will Nate acquire this happy ending & find his true love and if so who will she be?

WOW ummmm
This books has been by far, the one that has given me so many emotions, I thought I might be bipolar (no offense to anyone).
I hated it at the beginning, did not like where it was going cause it wasn't giving me "my" happy ending, according to "my" standards of course and I would stop reading upset and then pick it back up to figure out what was going on. This book made me paranoid feeling like everyone was out to get Nate and he couldn't trust anyone and then I wanted to wack Nate on the head because he wanted to do everything by himself; then he would do thing like such a mature caring man that wowed me. It was a sucker punch with what happened to his love life but at the end, literally the very end, we get to see how fitting it was and how all of it was building up to it. A master piece from Shayne Silvers again, he continues to blow your mind, give you the feels, keep you on the edge of your seat and turn the tables on you when you least expect it. A must read!

We’re now at the 14th book in the Nate Temple Series. This one is another wild ride with Nate traveling back and forth between the realm of the Greek gods and that of the Norse gods, with a few brief pauses at Grimm Tech and Chateau Falco in between.
This book takes us back to some of the characters and situations in the earliest books. It also looked like it was going to go back to some of the attitudes in the earliest books. I was prepared to be offended by what appeared to be shaping up to be a sex scene between Nate and the goddess Aphrodite. But this scene morphed into something completely different – a lesson for Nate about unconditional love, and how he needed to discover who he unconditionally loved to free himself from a pair of magical handcuffs known as the Titan Thorns. Zeus had imprisoned him in these Titan Thorns, which block his access to his own magic, to assist in forcing Nate to perform some evil act for him and take the blame for it.
There is a lot of physical and mental abuse in this book, as Nate and his pal the Elder Carl are repeatedly beaten and burned by Ares and Apollo at Zeus’ instigation.
Along the way, Nate also does some astral projecting, and we see from his viewpoint his encounters with Quinn Mackenna that we already witnessed in Brimstone Kiss.
Sadly, in his quest to discover who he really loves, Nate comes to realize that it isn’t Callie Penrose and that he isn’t her first love either. When he finally discovers not only who his real love is, but who she really is, it is an unexpected surprise.
And once he has that straight, it allows all the preparations Nate has made for defeating Zeus’ plans to fully take effect.

Some of you who have read my reviews previously know that I am a brutally honest person about reviews. When I reviewed a previous book in the series, I said that Shane Silvers had become my 2nd favorite author, and Robert Jordan was my first. Well, with the release of Carnage, he has brutally seized the first place spot with all the subtlety of a rhino playing piano.
The amount of forethought and planning in this book has literally blown me away. My brain hurts from the preconceptions I had held on the outcome of this book and Shane violently slapping me right awake!! My soul hurts from the millions of threads laid in previous novels, going ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE BEGINNING, that we saw but could not see. My eyes hurt from him yanking back the blindfold and piercing us with the jolting rays of answers to questions we had asked for forever to never having them answered, our deepest fear as readers and fans.
Truly, I can say that I am a fan. How a man can write the first book in this series, knowing he added things that would prove his eternal joke to the world when they were finally discovered, I would never know. However, finally getting the joke has provided a great source of peace to me, knowing that in this difficult time of pandemic and quarantine, one author has made me forget all about it, if even for a minute - but seriously, IT WAS AN HOUR. I just sat there dumb and smiling while placing all the threads he laid at my feet into my now properly aligned view of his world. The future is bright, ladies and gentlemen. Stay hopeful because there will be more of this tale to tell.

Shayne Silvers got the title of this novel 100% spot on. Carnage is exactly what is left of your brain after reading this 14th installment in the Nate Temple series. We've seen Nate struggle through metamorphosis after metamorphosis--sometimes "leveling up" and sometimes coming out worse than before. As this book begins with Nate and one of his most indestructible allies impossibly bound by the hand of none other than Zeus, Nate must navigate the tricky paths of the gods minds in multiple pantheons as the Omega War looms on the horizon. Before long, Nate must betray almost all of his closest allies, figure out where true love lies, and solve a mystery wrapped in an illusion that has been there from the start. What Nate manages to finally discover is that no one, god or man, is who they appeared to be on first encounter and that the tie that binds might just be the world's salvation. Nate is spun through a quest to find his heart's desire, and the consequences of failure are dire. Oh, there's all you'd expect from a Silvers novel - snark, pop culture riffs, belly laughs... F*ckin' Carl! And the innuendos and double-entendres fall like rain! Set against a backdrop of coercion, torture, murder, and a whole lot of badness for humanity - or Freakanity - if Nate can't define love, and stop a heartless diety's plans.

Good
This is a good part of the story. Still a lot on unanswered questions lying around, but some interesting ones laid to rest. The interaction between people is fun in places, but skimmed over in others, which is a bit annoying, but the story itself was an interesting turn, so it's fine.

So done with this series. What started off as a great urban fantasy journey with hints of Dresden has devolved into misogynistic over the top ridiculousness. I'll miss the side characters but I can do without the whole show.

Very introspective
Nate has to look into his heart to realize who his true love is, in order to remove the thorns. As has been mentioned off and on, about if Callie and Nate ever get together, it is finally decided. There has been hints here and there about the two of them being together and meant to be, so this was a surprise. Usually the author has a reason for every surprise and revelation, so I hope the next set of novels reveal the mystery.
Although, I enjoyed this series, and I am in awe that the series is still fresh after all of this time, the author made his first big mistake. He brought politics into his novel. Unless I purchase a book for political opinion, it should never be found otherwise. I have the media for that. I am highly disappointed in the author. It was only one statement, and it was not an essential statement. It was just a personal political view. However, I do not read his books for his political views. I read his books to escape from the real world. If the author decides to start playing politics in his books, then i will find alternate authors.

The End....
well....it is now 5 a.m. and I have finished the last of the Nate Temple series.It was a spellbinding series that sent me into spasms of laughter all the way to the opposite end of the emotional spectrum with showers of tears coated in sorrow...Yet somehow by the end of the book, (and alas, also the series), the story was all tied up into a bright shiny present with a sparkling bow atop it and no loose ends or questions left hanging. No, I freely admit it was not always an ending I ever expected and yet, it left me satisfied and very happy for my " friends and family" which is what the cast of characters in these exciting novels had become in 14+ volumes. Mr. Silver's books always end before I am really ready to set them aside and yet, the thrill of the story is with me forever as a shining moment filled with emotions and memories and also... a cherished story I will long remember and relive. I can think of no sweeter gift in this holiday time of tension and uncertainty that goes with our current situation of death and fear midst this pandemic. Thank you, sir, and I look forward to our next visit in another of your books... You never disappoint.

Shayne Silvers' Temple Verse books are in a class all their own, without a doubt. Starting with the very first Nate Temple book, I have become immersed in the various stories connecting the Temple Verse and wonder what thrills Shayne has for us when they all finally converge. Although each segment can easily stand alone, from Nate Temple to Callie Penrose to Quinn McKenna, the obvious connections in each story makes the reader remain on pins and needles as the REAL story slowly emerges that finally explains the subtle (and not so subtle) hints of what roots and futures all of these characters and stories have in common. As a dedicated reader and fan, I'm anxious to read every new installment yet worry with each that it will be the beginning of the end of the tale of the Temple Chronicles, which has become a staple in my addictive reading habit. It's my hope that the series will continue for long into the future with many new revelations and adventures to come. Thank you for providing such enjoyment, Mr. Silvers.

Get comfy, cause this book is quite a ride! Nate and Carl are hidden away, put in chains by Zeus, with Titan Thorns locked on their wrists, and going through lots of torture. The thorn cuffs block Nate's magic and If he wants his freedom and the wrist cuffs off, he must find his heart. Who does Nate love unconditionally? If Zeus thinks he can control Nate and his friends, he’s in for a rude awakening! I love Nate. He’s brave, strong, smart, sly, funny, protective, determined, and has very loyal friends. When Nate has his back against a wall, he comes up swinging with very imaginative schemes to take down his enemies! This book is filled with action, magic, danger, gods, goddesses, Yahn, Kara, Pandora, horseman, mystery, betrayal, Grimm, battle, beasts, suspense, weapons, laugh-out-loud humor and more. I loved this book!

Shayne Silvers did it again... I'm pretty sure my brain just exploded, and it's 8 hours past my bedtime so cut me some slack.Wow... Definitely do not start this book at the end of night after the kids finally go to sleep because you will not stop reading until the final curtain. I now have to re-read the entire series again because 14 books ago I missed way to many clues obviously. I would say Shayne Silvers should give himself a pat on the back, but I'm pretty sure he's already done that. ( We don't want him to get a big head) If you're stumbling upon this book and checking reviews before giving it a chance go back to book one buy it now, and be prepared to laugh, cry (because you shot water out your nose laughing so hard), and laugh some more. Nate Temple is a someone I would stand behind anyday.

I hadn't realized how much I missed Nate until Carnage. This was the Nate we all fell in love with, the Nate who is self-proclaimed incorrigible, the Nate who flies by the seat of his pants and laughs in the face of danger...and the Nate who would do absolutely anything for those he loves. This is a story of resilience, triumph, loyalty, and above all else, heart and soul. It is also a head-spinning, sucker-punch of a rollercoaster ride that one comes to expect from Master Silvers.
There will be times your own heart will feel like Fenrir chewed it up and spit it out, to lay mangled and barely beating at your feet. Times you will feel like you took a cannonball dive off Charon's boat into the River Styx. But all the soul-crushing moments are worth it in the end.

Ready for the deep end?

I cant think of anything that wont be a spoiler for this book... except to say, do a complete reread if youve read these books, and keep EVERYTHING in mind. Then, buckle up, hold on, and be prepared to have your mind blown, reassembled, blown again, and then lovingly gift wrapped for you with a huge D&D label.
This book made me think. And feel. And then made me realize that im enjoying the ride very much. And cant wait for the next part to pick me up and take me for a hellacious ride. Master Silvers... i tip my hat to you. Mad props to a mind that can create such a world and a plot that takes you to the edge of Carnage and back and leaves you begging for more.

This book brings together finally a feeling of movement into a new arch of what will probably be the Omegawar.
However, because of the nature of this book, there is so much self reflection that the storyline doesn't seem to move at all for most of the book.
The author kind of hints at the answer to Nate's freedom repeatedly while Mate worries about someone close to him who has been kidnapped. However, it is smoke and mirrors.
The rest of the storyline really felt like the author has been wanting to do this for a long time but just never found the right way to do it; so he just made it work. The finale to the book works; it just took a lot of "huh" to get there.
Not his best work, but necessary for the new arch.

Hope or despair, family feud on a truly Olympic scale as Nate is kidnapped by Zeuss. Oh my. My whole family is caught up in CORVID-19 insanity (two hospitalized for other reasons, who we cannot visit, and 1 tested positive and in quarantine though no overt symptoms so far). Thank God (or Gods in this case?) for good books. It’s what’s keeping all of us sane. Carnage (Nate Temple Series, Book 14) is a particularly good one, as I expected since all the prior books in this series (separately reviewed) were fabulous, and I can count on anything written by Shayne Silvers. Highly recommended for fun ... and sanity saving.

This book was truly an emotional rollercoaster! SERIOUSLY, COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. Double the size, triple the entertainment...so many secrets finally revealed! So grab that daiquiri and hop on the boat, Tainted Nipple and his band of Dreaded Misfits are on board and ready to play! Introducing a few new friends and a couple more foes, this book has it all! So many good feels...I laughed, I gasped and literally bawled at least 7 separate times. So bring the tissues and join this dog pile of arms and limbs and love, there's plenty of it to go around...just remember if you look up and see any flying unicorn, grab an umbrella, it could get messy!

Unending Gyrations
To see one of the most powerful characters in current literature enslaved and tortured is painful. To learn the bonds can only be broken by something unattainable, and by him is worse. I despaired that this could end well, but was compelled to continue reading. While about to lose my mind in the miasma of misdirection, pain, trickery, and both the best and worst of multiple gods, I should have simply remembered the words of another famous wizard. The greatest magic of all is love.
Reading the Templeverse is worth more than the hours spent. Please friends, enjoy.

The best
I am not good with words but this author is worth me trying.I loved the characters and how you brought them all together in this book.It was well written and as always I loved the story and can't wait for the next one .I know in the coming books they are going to war and I think that is going to be a really great book too. One of the best things is you don't have a lot of sex it is hinted at but the story is what the book is about a lot of my favorite authors seem to have gotten caught up in seeing how many sex scenes they can get in the book instead of the story.You are doing a great job with your books.Thank you

It all makes sense now
The 3 new horsemen (and 1 Woman) have been busy. Shayne Silvers unique clever, humorous and thought provoking style of writing ties up many threads in both the Nate Temple and Feathers and Fire series in this book.. I didn’t read Carnage when it first came out, in part because that style of writing is best devoured when one’s mind can not be pulled away by the demands of shifting life in a world pandemic. And I’m glad I read Angellic first, because chronologically it takes place just before the events in this book begin to come forward. If you haven’t started either, it’s a reading order that makes great sense.

I'm not quite sure why I continue to read this series. It started out a fun series with action, wizards and monsters. But it continues to get away from that. This last book is the worst of the bunch. 95% of it is the characters sitting around talking or inner monologuing about sexual frustration. This could have been cut down and made the first, 1/4th of another book.
There's no rules or logic to the magic in this series. Beasts and Makers and rainbow dragons that turn invisible with butlers that turn out to be God's. It feels very forced with paper thin characters. I think this is the end of the Nate Temple series for me.
