Walking by the Way: Homeschooling in Light of Eternity

Rate this book
How can we know if we are successfully homeschooling our children? Is our focus where it needs to be or have we become distracted by the things of this world? Having been exclusively homeschooled and now in my ninth year of homeschooling my own children, I want to share with you what I have learned to be the most important aspect of homeschooling - reaching the hearts and eternal souls of our children. True success isn't measured by test scores or academic achievement, those things are wonderful but quickly fade in the light of eternity. We can take advantage of the moments we are given as we daily walk by the way with our children. We can tell them of our Savior's love and His wonderful plan for their lives. My dual perspective of student and now teacher provides insight into the many different facets of homeschooling and how we can use them to point our children to Jesus. As we open up God's word together you will be blessed, encouraged and challenged in your homeschool journey. In Walking By the Way, Erica shares from the unique perspective of being a homeschool graduate and a homeschool mom. She addresses many of the nuances and challenges that the homeschooling journey can bring and holds them up to the truths of God's Word. She brings clarity as she reminds the reader that education truly is discipleship. As believers, we are called to walk out our faith in every aspect of our lives, including education. This book is a call to homeschooling parents who are on the fence about taking their children home. It's a poignant reminder of our God-given right and responsibility to raise a godly generation! ~ Durenda Wilson Author of The Unhurried Homeschooler and Unhurried Grace for a Mom's Heart This book is such a heartfelt message to home school Moms that is so needed today! I wish I would have had this guidance and and encouragement when I first started homeschooling. Every thought, idea, and lesson is based solidly on scripture - just as it should be. Erica will become your new best friend through the pages of this book as she continually points you to God's Word. ~ Tina Mauldin Pastor's wife, homeschool mom for 20 years and former school teacher Excerpt from the forward written by Karen There is nothing more important in this age we live in than to teach our children the absolute truths of God’s Word and how to live those out in an ever-changing culture. It is difficult these days to find an author that doesn’t waver on this or water it down, but thankfully Erica Hunt stands firm. I appreciate Erica’s real life and practical views on discipling our children. If we as families and as homeschoolers can unite in this area, imagine the mountains we could move!...I am confident this book will point others to Jesus and ultimately give glory to God as Erica reminds homeschoolers of their purpose. We need more soothing voices like this in a noisy world that continues to stray from God. Thank you to Erica for this light in a dark world. ~ "Karen Debeus - Simply Living For Him Author of Simply Homeschool, Called Home and Real Homeschool

Excellent! It's a great reminder of "why" we decided to homeschool our children. It's so easy to get discouraged and caught up in the "what do they know" or "do they know what they are supposed to" that we forget about the process and joy of the everyday learning they receive from life, and more importantly from us as their loving parents. This book is a great reminder of that, and I am sure I will read it many times to remind myself that what God has called me to do, to homeschool, although it can be a challenge, is all for His glory! Thank you Erica!

This book is filled with sweet reminders of our "why" behind homeschooling our children. There was nothing in this book that I haven't heard before but it is always encouraging to read the words again and again. As a homeschool mom, we can use all the encouragement we can get. And we should constantly remind ourselves of the bigger picture.

This book read like sitting down with a friend for encouragement. A very wise and discerning friend. I loved all of the scripture throughout and I could see re reading it just to highlight and be reminded of why we are on this homeschool journey. Why it’s not just about academics. It’s about our kids hearts and who we will send out into the world.

Encouraging and helpful

This book offers practical advice for Christian parents/caregivers who are homeschooling children. Erica gently reminds us of the importance of discipling our children in their faith walk with the Lord through the homeschooling setting. Her entire book is written with passion and encouragement. I am a grandparent who is helping our daughter raise our granddaughter. I am also a kindergarten teacher in a Christ-centered homeschool co-op. I have found this book to be a great reminder and encouragement to not grow weary and to continue sowing with intention unto the Lord.

Cute little book. A good encouragement to the true reason why I homeschool. It was also nice to see other homeschool Moms use the same Scripture as the basis of their homeschool as I do. I think this book would be an excellent read for a family who is brand new to homeschooling.
