Drive to the snow resort. Teach snowboarding. Rinse and repeat.
Kano was enjoying life, though broke, as a snowboarding instructor in Lake Tahoe until an accident happened. Due to a hospital mix up, his life takes a novel turn and he ends up inside New Lands Online, as it’s first ever digital human.
He never signed up to be the main character in an ultra realistic virtual reality game, where bodily functions are as real as can be, and has to learn new skills to survive.
Will Kano level up inside New Lands Online, or will the game world get the best of him for the 978th time? Find out in book one: Encounters and experience the epic adventure!

Ok. I read the first 3 pages of this book. It starts with two dudes walking down the road and an elderly woman asks if one of them can help get her kitten out of the tree. One of the characters pulls out a rifle and shoots the kitten.
This is not a book I intend to read further, nor will I ever read anything from this Author.
Just what I needed after the last few books I'd read being disappointing in one way or another. This one filled the bill quite nicely. Some building, but not the central storyline, which is good, because that allowed for development in other directions. Can't say I understand why the main character is so curt with the goddess, but whatever works I guess. We never really get an explanation of what the first few chapters are all about, though there are hints dropped here and there, so if you're a person who likes things wrapped up all nice and neat, this one will stick in your craw to be sure. On the other hand, there are more books in the series, so perhaps they will go into greater detail. There's other (minor) issues storywise), such as how the tracker got built, since the main character never once encountered anyone capable of such a featuring. But, game mechanics I guess. Anyway, despite the minor plot element complaints I have, this was a relatively good story, and I recommend it.
The MC is a snowboarder. due to some bad circumstances he gets a super drug infused. He ends up in a game world and the bad boys want his DNA. I didn't like the MC much. He is a bit of a pushover and is way too willing to do what others want from him. (paying tax for a dead man - paying blood money to widows of men that tried to kill him, etc...) The game system could be used with more finesse. Every stat on the same level gets kind of boring. Also - real life skills are converted into game skills and he is a super snowboarder but has no single exp on acrobatics to start with?! I would guess that this is one of the authors first books. Promising and I wont object to read another one of him - even if I maybe stand back from reading another in this universe. Average litRPG. 2-3 stars
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Aside from how long it took to get into the ‘game’ (too long), there were far too many over-explained references to meaningless moments. Not only do we learn the MC took a fencing class, we also ‘needed to know’ he skipped class a lot because of an ex-gf *and* he had a friend who who was a serious martial artist. Did this truly develop the character? No. Was it terribly important to the plot? Not so far, so no.
By the way, when someone is running for their life in an arena and they “slide”, their boots will *not* noticeably become ‘hot from friction’. They *should* have other things on their mind. Not dying, for starters.
I have never read anything like this before but wanted to explore the genre. I also wanted something different to just get away from regular stressful life. I think this was a good first book for me for litRPG! I really enjoyed how the main character got sucked into the virtual world. I hope the author does take the suggestions from other reviews, but overall this was a good read for me!
I hate trying to write reviews because there are really only pass/fail results for me. Did I make it all the way through? Yes? 5 stars. No? There would be nothing here to read. In all fairness, if an author holds my attention from page one to the end, they’ve done their job. Anything less than 5 stars is petty criticism from someone incapable of even doing the job let alone doing a better one.
So in respect for the author and their work, I am going to start pasting this along with a generic review I found somewhere. “This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”
Now, since I have to keep explaining myself to people who don't like my reviews, I guess some clarification is in order.
1. I am 100% against criticism for works of art. Art is subjective, meaning reviews are irrelevant. The observer's opinion is only relevant to the observer. It is my belief that regardless of what others might say, I have to experience the art for myself.
2. I read upwards of 20 books a month. The $10/month I spend on K U, feels like I am cheating the authors. But since I can't afford 20 books a month if I were to purchase them directly, all I can offer is a positive review. That leads us to the final point.
3. If I get to the end of a book, then it was worth my time. I give those books 5 stars because it helps the author get exposure. That is the only reason I write reviews at all.
I understand that people are people and they are going to do what they do regardless of my stance. I know the way that I review books upsets some people. I am sorry they feel that way but as many have said, they will just ignore my review going forward. In fact, if you made it this far through my review, you should definitely read the book and completely ignore all of the reviews here. You are a much better judge of what you will like than anyone here.
A very interesting book with lots of content and sort of a staple litrpg story but also at the same time and sort of very unique definitely a must-read for any litrpg fan
