Laura Roberts writes travel themed contemporary romance and short women’s fiction, with steamier stories under the pen name Laure L'Amour. She currently lives in Sacramento, California with her artist husband and their literary kitty, Percy. When she’s not writing, she can be found editing manuscripts for indie authors, transcribing reality TV (her day job), watching rom-coms, testing chocolate recipes, or searching for more typewriters to add to her collection.
I picked up this book as a Sacramento native and was surprised by the format. It's a group of very short stories about couples finding love in popular Sacramento locations. It was a quick read, but enjoyable and definately a feel good novella. It was a great way to spend an hour with a glass of wine.
This is quite possibly the cringiest thing I’ve read. The stories are super short - about a page each - going through the alphabet with names and locations. I liked the references to Sac locations, like Gunther’s, Leland Stanford Mansion, Midtown, Pachamama Coffee, and Shady Lady Saloon. I liked the first one about running on a Thursday afternoon and talking to yourself, because I do that LOL. Also, this was written in 2020, so it references Trump being president and the unexpected pandemic.
This collection of short stories makes for a fun snack between meals. Each snippet introduces a situation and couple in a different setting around the city of Sacramento.
