Male-Order Mates #2

The Lonely Lynx's Omega

Rate this book
Ever since seeing my best friends with their new family, something inside me has clicked.

I’m done with the old Roman. He was a player, and damned good at it. I don’t want to play anymore. I want an omega. I want the family. I want someone to come home to.
Without telling anyone, I’ve applied for a Male-Order omega and am just waiting for that beep, telling me that they’ve found me one. If they do half as well as they did for my friend at the ranger station, I know we’ll have a happy life.

I’ve had a crush on Roman ever since college

I had intended to reveal my love for him the night before I left for Norway for a foreign exchange student program. But after a whirlwind of events and some unexpected turns in my life, I stayed in Norway and ended up finishing college there and starting a career as an architect. Sure my long ago crush would have found someone by now, I applied on the Male-Order app. Imagine my shock to be paired with Roman.
And we are a 99 percent match.

The Lonely Lynx’s Omega is a super sweet with knotty heat MM mpreg featuring a hotter than hot forest ranger and his second-chance romance with a foxy (literally) omega from his past, resulting in the cutest baby shifter ever. It is the second book in the Male-Order Males series but can be read as a stand-alone.

Wow! Another awesome love story!

This time between a lynx and a fox! Love these two guys! Also like that the author is bringing more side characters into the stories! Just so much fun!

I'd give this 1.5 stars, at the very most.

I had one major issue with this book and, unfortunately, it completely spoilt it for me (which is such a disappointment as I enjoyed the first book). As was mentioned in the previous book (and is mentioned time and again in this book) Roman was a 'play boy' prior to seeing what he was missing out on when Hawke met his mate. Realistically, Roman hadn't yet realised he was ready to settle down and was (perhaps) treating some of his loneliness through hooking-up.

Unfortunately, this book goes on to do its best to completely slut shame him in the most disturbing and aggravating manner. It is repeatedly stated that Roman never led anyone on. He was always safe when he had sex with people and was clear that he wasn't interested in relationships. He didn't tell people he loved them so they'd have sex with them, he didn't trick them into sleeping with him with promises of a life together, he didn't play fast and loose with protection. He was, from what I could see, a responsible adult engaging in consensual sexual encounters with other adults. Despite this, the reader is pushed to view his behaviour as shameful and sluttish. Roman's love interest Salem repeatedly shames him for his behaviour despite claiming he doesn't hold his past against him. Roman is portrayed as untrustworthy and it is suggested that as a result of his behaviour he must go above a beyond to prove he can be faithful. This is notwithstanding the fact that there is never any evidence that he's exhibited a propensity for cheating. Frankly, at points Salem's behaviour bordered on gas lighting (). Roman seemed to be perpetually apologising and made to feel dirty and less than.

I am sick of this trope. I am sick of any individual being portrayed as less trustworthy or incapable of faithfulness because they previously did not want to settle down. I am sick of people who embrace their sexuality (whilst being careful not to hurt others) being put down. I am sick of slut shaming. It is slut shaming no matter the gender. Being open and honest about not being ready to be in a relationship is not dirty. Just because someone has had multiple partners does not make them incapable of loyalty. It is just the most absurd and illogical conclusion to jump to and I am so tired of reading it as a plot device. What's even more upsetting is it is never highlighted as an unreasonable position to take.

We should be better than this. We should know better than this.

Cute. Not that different from the first plot wise, though I appreciate an alpha with insecurities to give the book a different vibe.

1st second chance

I would call this a 1st 2nd chance. The guys never got together before, but they were friends. Then there was a ten year gap, and now boom.

Blast from the past.

Roman and Salem had been friends in college but went separate ways. The Male-Order mates app has matched them. Fate is a strange thing!

Playboy forest ranger Roman had finally given up his wild ways and signed up for a Male-Order app after seeing how happy his friends Hawke and Aquila were, especially with their precious baby, Sam. Roman knew in a big way that he was ready for a mate and family. He was so tired of being lonely and he wanted someone to love. When his phone buzzed that the app had found a 99% match, he was amazed to recognize Victor, a friend from college, whom he had always known as “Salem”. Salem had gone to Norway to study, and they lost touch with each other. Roman hadn’t known that Salem had loved him even back then. When Roman invited him to come to his mountain cabin for a place to stay and so they could catch up, it was perfect! It was all the things Salem loved about Norway and made it easy to leave.

Being away from each other for almost 10 years, they need to build a foundation of love and trust in their relationship. Unfortunately, crazy situations arise to make it difficult and Roman’s past threatens to intervene. Despite the unexpected drama, will they finally be able to build their HEA together?

I enjoyed this well-written story and the characters we focus on this time. It was adorable to watch Roman interact with baby Sam – the reader needs no more convincing than that to know Roman will be a good dad. Grab your copy and see what the two have to overcome. Will it make them stronger? Or break them apart?

Roman has been a play-boy for years, jumping from one hook-up to the next. But after seeing his friend falling in love and getting a family, he decides that he's reading to find his own forever omega. Salem has been living in Norway since college, but after realizing his relationship is going nowhere he's ready to move on. College friends get a chance to reconnect, and maybe find love, when they're matched by Male-Order app. I liked that these two had a connection from the past, it gave them a basis to build a relationship. I did find it a little annoying that Salem seemed to flip between telling Roman that his past doesn't matter and being unable/unwilling to trust him based on his play-boy past. I did like that the drama in the story didn't overwhelm the romance in the story, that the focus did stay on Roman and Salem building a future.

Although you don't have to read the first book, The Grumpy Grizzly's Omega, to understand the story for this story, I would recommend reading it for some background.

I absolutely loved this book! Another sweet and wonderful story about finding love. Roman and Salem knew each other in college 10 years ago. They meet again when they both end up getting matched through the Male Order Mates app. Roman offers Salem a place to stay in his home and soon Roman's past is coming back to bite him. It starts with a meeting in a diner with a man Roman had a one night stand with. It gets worse when the same man starts sending threatening texts to Salem. Roman tries everything he can to make Salem see that he wants a future with him. Roman hopes they can overcome his past in order to move forward to get the happily ever after Roman never knew he wanted and Salem always dreamed of.

Ever since seeing my best friends with their new family, something inside me has clicked.
Roman is done with the old Roman. He was a player and damned good at it. He doesn’t want to play anymore. He wants an omega and the family - someone to come home to.
Without telling anyone, he's applied for a Male-Order omega and is waiting for that beep, telling him that they’ve found him one. If they do half as well as they did for my friend at the ranger station, he knows they’ll have a happy life. Salem had a crush on Roman ever since college. Sure his long-ago crush would have found someone by now, but he applied on the Male-Order app. Imagine his shock of being paired with Roman and they are a 99 per cent match.

I enjoyed this story but there was too much focus on Roman being a player in the past and there was gap in how Salem ended his relationship in Norway and how his belongings were transported - surely he had to go back to close everything and ship stuff? There were also a few gaps in the conclusion of the guy who was obsessed with Roman where we knew the conclusion but not all of the details. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content set in the omegaverse with MPREG.

3,5*

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:
A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series
from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year),
it's like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok)
It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the
whole line, dismissed, repeat the class

Solid 4 stars.

Although shorter than the first book, it felt more developed. Probably because the pair knew each other from College and had already built that foundation that new couples don't have yet.

This was bittersweet because of how much of a playboy Roman was during the time that Salem knew him and how much that hurt Salem. He pined over Roman for a decade and got to watch him play around. And then has to be harassed for being Roman's new love interest.

If not for Roman's sincerity and his willingness to gain Salem's trust I would not have liked this at all. I didn't want him to be ashamed of his playboy ways but I did appreciate that he understood he needed to help Salem feel at ease in the relationship. Because after watching him with other men, it's hard for Salem to believe that Roman would be committed to him.

Add in all the past experiences when Salem tried to get his attention or confess and it backfired, and we have a lot to get over. Thankfully, Roman was up for the challenge and wanted to commit wholeheartedly.

Of course, everything outside of the relationship happened in the background but it was fine for a short novella.

I really am liking this short books.

In this one we have Salem, an omega who's decided to stop settling for less and leaves his boyfriend, then signs up for the male order app... And finds a match with his first love, the friend he left ten years earlier.
And Roman, having spent years shunning any and all romantic relationships, and only having one night stands... Decides that he's tired of that life after seeing his friend and co-worker finding a mate and having a baby.

Now we have these two trying to make things work, Roman doing his best to prove that he's ready to settle down and build a family and Salem giving that step and believing that maybe this time things could be different and he would be brave enough to stay with Roman.

There are some issues around them, but most of the book is focused on their relationship and the rest is solved pretty fast without much involvement from them.

POV:dual
Tropes: friends to lovers, alpha lynx shifter/omega fox shifter, mpreg, reacquainted through an app, dating with the intent to marry.
Spice: low (short detailed scenes, talks about vers roles but no scene on page)
CW: a little bit of violence, talks about past accident in open sea.

The app matches you to your college crush? Fate!

Another Male Order App match! Come. Rejoin our Rangers as they face new challenges. Hawke, Aquila and Roman are here. They pulled me back into their lives from the first pages and wouldn't let me go. I love this book!
This time, Roman has tried the app. Tired of being alone, he wants it all... an omega to love, a family, all of it. Fate steps in. His match is a ghost from his past. Salem has been in love with Roman since college. Apart for 10 years, they need to rebuild trust. As their connection grows, outside factors make things heat up. From a scam, to squatters, to threats, to drug runners, they have their hands full. HEA is assured. You will love this book!
This book stands alone, but I recommend reading the first book in the series. It's a great read. I can't wait for the next book!
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

Totally enjoyable to read, really lovely, But for some reason it didnt excit me to the point where i had to give it 5 stars. Im not really quiet sure why not because the first book in this series was great and im totally a fan of this authors.

Roman was lonely, had been since his best friend found his mate, so he puts himself on the dating app, soon the results come back. And he is shocked to see who is his match....Its his best friend from back in school days.
Salam has decided enough is enough he is leaving Norway where he has been living, the man he is living with dosnt really care for him, so he puts himself up on the dating app and low and behold his match is Roman the man he loved back in school days. Roman asks him to come and stay with him for a couple of weeks... done deal
They both have to discus the elephant in the room, that been how things were school days, and once they get over that it will be smooth sailing, well one would thing so, but Romans playboy days come back to haunt him.

Salem left to pursue his education without telling Roman how he felt. He got the degree he wanted, a good job, and a partner. He was settled until he realized that he was living a lie. He decides to leave all of his life in Norway to return to the states. He wants a partner, therefore, he applies to find his mate on an app. Could Roman really be his match? Can he handle seeing him after all these years? Roman sees how happy his coworker and best friend are together with their little son. He wants that life. He no longer wants to sleep around and party every night. So, he decides to look for his mate with the same app his coworker used. He is quite stunned to find that his match is his long lost friend Salem. Will he ever forgive him for the life that he has lived? The characters are resilient, determined, and genuine. The storyline has twists and turns, ups and downs, and real emotions. Great read!

3.5 Stars Trust Bridge

How do you regain trust? How does one mend a broken heart - a shattered heart again? How do you put yourself back into the pan when you could possibly be burned by the self inflicted flames of love? How does one trust a man who broke your heart before? What can he do to build a Trust Bridge? A bridge not sturdy enough to link two hearts is no bridge at all. Or maybe it was a Bridge Over Troubled Waters that could collapse & risk one or both hearts.

How do you rebuild your life when you start a new? What if your past your very public man whore past won't stay buried? How do you get others to accept and believe in the new you? Especially the person that matters most. How difficult is it to bear your soul and still encounter skepticism? Who could possibly be worth all this agony?

The second book in the Male Order Mates is entertaining but frankly I enjoyed the first book more. This doesn't mean I won't be reading the remaining books in the series. I've always enjoyed reading Male-Order romances.

This story gave me so many feels. This second book in the Male Order series didn't disappoint. Old college friends sign up on the app and was match 99 percent. This came at a special point in their lives. Both were at a crossroads and fate brought them together. Roman see;s how his best friend Hawke's life is after he found his fated mate off the app and he wants that too. Salem wants changes in his life from the unfulfilling life he had and wants to see if there is a chance with is old college crush. The two meet again after 10 long years and the attraction is there but both are willing to take it slow and see if its just friendly feelings or more. It was nice seeing the guy getting to know each other and not just jumping in on the lust they feel. Roman going through so many trials because of his past behavior was bittersweet but I was so glad he had Salem by his side. Both balances each other and their love was sweet. This series is addictive and it seems to get better and better.

This is the second book in the series, and I am staying just as interested as I was after the first. After hooking his best friend up with the website to find an omega, it was now Romans turn to find his match. He has been a playboy since as far back as he can remember, and after watching his best friend, settle down and have a baby, he realized how lonely his life really was. The fun part was when he went online to the website to find an omega. He was matched up with someone he knew from 10 years ago. Salem was ready to start again, he had given up so much of his life to the alpha. He was with to be ignored, and put aside that it was time to MoveOn. He did not realize his match would be the one person he has had a crush on his entire life practically. They are so perfect for each other, but Romans past has come back to bite them in the butt. If they can make it through that they can make it through anything. Especially the birth of their first child.

An enjoyable & delightfully sweet, quick-read Mpreg shifter romance, it is the second book in the series “Male-Order Mates” & can be read as a standalone. I found the plot to be well-paced & entertaining. The characters are interesting with good chemistry between them & this book covers a lonely alpha & forest ranger (Roman) who decides to use a Male-Order App (Find My Mate Now) & is matched to a male omega architect (Victor aka Salem) who has always been highly attracted to him but then Roman’s past begins to interfere.
There is: various kinds of shifters, adventure, action, intrigue, drama, suspense, humor, confrontations, danger, threats, villains, attractions, insecurities, memories, redemption, determination, protectiveness, anxiety, discovery, memories, explanations, surprises, contentment, some steam & a satisfying conclusion.

This was a sweet and sexy second chance romance. Roman is a player but his life of one night stands has left him feeling hollow and lonely. His adoration of little Sam is adorable. You can feel how much he longs for a family of his own. Finding out that the mail order app has him matched with the one that got away leaves him a bit off-kilter. I was super impressed with Roman's desire to be transparently honest with Salem. Salem has his head on straight but is a bit unsure of how committed Roman is. He's smart and insists that they take their relationship slowly. He wants to be sure that Roman is ready for forever. The fact that these two talked about their expectations and desires, talked about the awkward stuff, the uncomfortable subjects, and faced problems honestly and as a team made them a fantastic pair. I loved the epilogue.

Nice story! Roman, feeling the loneliness after watching his friend find his mate. He decides to apply for a mail-order omega. Roman's best times was spending time with his nephew, Sam, Hawke and Aquila's boy. Salem, Omega had a crush on his best friend, Roman. Just as he was about to confess, he heard something that convinced him he should leave, soonest. He was leaving to intern in Norway. He stayed for 10 years and started his architect career there. He presumed, Roman had moved on with his life, so he applied to the mail-order app. He was tickeled to find he was a 99% match to Roman. Can they forget the past 10 years? Are the feelings still there? Nice story. Can a little bit of confustion from the past disrupt the future? Roman and Salem are sweet together. Nice flow. Roman used to be a player and he was pretty proud of it until he saw his friends settling down with the loves of their lives now Roman is ready to settle down he wants a family so he applies to the Male Order app so now he waits and when he gets a 99% match to Victor aka Salem from college he’s surprised and invites Salem up to his cabin. Salem has been in love with with Roman since college he had moved away to Norway and while there he applied to the Male Order app and he was shocked that he was matched up with Roman and that gives Salem a reason to leave Norway, but Roman’s past catches up with him so can Salem put his trust in Roman knowing about his player ways?. I loved this sweet romance in this story it’s a fantastic m/m read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

second chances

There is nothing like your first love, even when neither of you get up the courage to tell the other how you feel.

Salem and Roman were friends in college. Secretly wanting more. Roman was a playboy alpha who tomcatted around, and Salem was an omega who felt slighted and ran away from his feelings.

A decade has passed without either of them having any contact with each other, Then with the help of a male-order mate app their paths cross again. The timeline couldn’t be better for Salem, he recently went through a breakup and was looking to move away but wasn’t sure where. Then one of his best friends from college offers him a place to stay no strings attached. Can the love these two have for each other burn away the darkness they both have to face?

Such a cute series and am so happy I found it.

2.5-ish stars.

I think this might be where I call it on this series. I wanted to like these books SO BAD. They’re fine-ish for me. Maybe in the future I’ll be in the mood more, who knows.

The good:

Everyone has cool names.

The park ranger job and setting!

Not rapey at all.

Second chance romance between two ex-college-friends who are about 32.

The not so good:

Writing and editing quality are medium-low (issues with typos, flow, pacing, continuity, etc.). This was probably my biggest issue, which was not outweighed by anything else sadly.

Slut-shaming of Roman (who was single), very not happy with this.

The “mail order” hook is almost completely absent from the books so far, it’s like a brief meet-cute mention then nothing.

Unfortunately overall the not so good stuff outweighed the good for me.

Roman, seeing his best friend and colleague happily matched at a mail order bride(groom) service is thinking more and more about wanting the same and giving up the player in him. When he is signing up for the service, he almost immediately is matched perfectly with a man halfway around the world - and a man he had known at college.
Offering him to stay at his house is the least he can do, even if nothing should come of the match. But old hidden feelings re-surface.
A wonderful sweet story with a little mystery blended into the story to give the reader a second focus within the story.
A good blend to keep the reader interested.

"I was offering him a port in a storm, a place to catch his breath. And he was accepting that.

ugh friends then lovers, we just leave out the enemies cause they are not needed here between these two!

Roman has watched his friend find happiness and now all he wants is it for himself, how strange is it that the one person who he matches with is from his past.
Salem jetted off to Norway to leave behind and get over his crush, unfortunately that only lasted so long and he is off back to the woods. His perfect mate is none other than his crush from college.

The coming back to me vibes I got from this book were great. One leaves because he couldn't have his crush and the other is trying to make himself better to find his happy ever.
With the happy comes some of the sad and after things are revealed its almost a sigh of "we could've been.." but things work themselves out in the most perfect ways especially for these two.

Book 2 did not disappoint at all. This Lynx and Fox couple were too cute and this one was too short, I wanted more.

So I am constantly surprised at my new-found love of shift romance stories. I want to say novels but sub-100 to sub-200 pages, depending on the title, I don't consider a novel or book. They are GREAT stories though and I'm very happy to have found them.

Simple, formulaic, romances w/ cute characters, a continuity of community, and celebrations of love. What's not to come back for? Each book in the series is like a new episode of your favorite tv show. I didn't read them in order and I don't feel like it harmed the stories at all, so grab whichever one comes to you first and plow through them.

This is an enjoyable short story about friends to lovers and second chances. In book 2 of this series Roman tries his luck at the Male-Order app when he sees how happy the experience worked out for his friend. He's surprised to see he's matched with his college friend, Salem, he hadn't seen in years. Their reunion is full of unexpected drama but they do find their happy ending. I'm looking forward to the next book.
