As tragedy befalls Xin Siyue, she soon finds herself transmigrated into a novel world as a character. To her disappointment, she became the villainess who obsessively chased after the male protagonist while scheming to tear apart his relationship with his beloved.
To avoid her death route, Xin Siyue carefully avoided the male and female protagonists at every turn. Instead, she went off on her own to enjoy life. But somewhere along the way, she made a mistake– the male protagonist took notice of her!
Xin Siyue’s eyes teared up as she was being kissed in Chen Sinan’s arms. ‘No! This wasn’t in the plot!’
It's a 118 chapters story split into two parts for translation. The story progressed to my liking until chapter 135 part 2 according to translation. I'm going to share a part of the review by Tutubitter on NU because it's what I was thinking. Great minds think alike I think.
"A series of two narrow minded fools' infinite counter of "you never try to understand me" whilst not trying to understand the other. Speak one-sidedly, think one-sidedly and act one-sidedly. They push their opinion on each other but don't actually try to be considerate of the other. They're both good at their profession (as told in the story that they are successful) but d*mb as f*ck when it comes to each other."
I didn't know what I was thinking trying to push forward until the end. The story should end while readers still like it but, the writer decided to pile on multiple antagonists and their schemes to catapult the story.
Chen Sinan, the ML, kind of proposed to Xin Siyue, the MC, and she rejected the idea because it's too early and she's not mentally ready. First of all, they worked and live in two different city. Even if the got married, that's not going to change anytime soon unless the ML forced the MC to resign. Second, they couldn't be together all the time if they're not married as boundaries and such. And so, marriage was a good solution for the ML to have a concrete excuse to be with the MC.
When your man proposed, it meant he's serious. If you still need time to think even after that, then end the relationship so that he can pursue someone else that's ready.
actually, i read this book last year.lol...but i love it, the story so interesting for me, with a satisfied ending. if u love a transmigration novel theme, with a handsome CEO or if u want to read how the FL try to avoid the ML with every chance possible way.and that's really hillarious.just read it, ok?and you'll understand.hahaha
A vacation re- read. Long, pretty intense rebirth-into-a-novel story. There’s the main romance story, the background of the MC in her other world as well as the endings of all the side characters. Really, my only questions had to do with what happened to the novel’s original heroine? She was a pest! A good story with minimal idiocy.
"Avoid the Protagonist" is a webnovel that has garnered significant attention for its refreshing take on the popular transmigration/reincarnation genre. Instead of the usual trope of becoming the overpowered protagonist destined for glory, the story centers around a character who actively tries to avoid any interaction with the main lead and the chaotic events surrounding them. This simple yet clever premise forms the foundation of a compelling and often humorous narrative.
The story typically begins with the protagonist transmigrating or reincarnating into the world of a novel they once read. Armed with the knowledge of the original plot and the protagonist's eventual rise to power (often through dramatic and dangerous circumstances), their sole goal becomes self-preservation through obscurity. This often involves choosing to be a background character, avoiding key plot points, and generally living a peaceful and unremarkable life.
One of the strongest aspects of "Avoid the Protagonist" is its unique perspective. It flips the familiar narrative on its head, allowing readers to experience a well-trodden genre from a completely different angle. The tension arises not from whether the protagonist will succeed, but rather from whether they will fail at their goal of staying out of the spotlight. This creates a different kind of suspense, driven by the constant threat of accidental entanglement in the protagonist's turbulent journey.
The character development, particularly of the "avoider" protagonist, is often well-executed. We see their clever strategies, their internal struggles with their past knowledge versus their present reality, and their often humorous attempts to remain unnoticed. The supporting cast, including the oblivious or sometimes perceptive original protagonist and other key figures, are also generally well-written and contribute to the overall dynamic of the story.
Humor is frequently a key element in "Avoid the Protagonist." The irony of the situation, the protagonist's often exaggerated reactions to potential plot flags, and the misunderstandings that arise from their avoidance tactics can lead to genuinely funny moments. This lightheartedness often balances out the underlying tension and makes the story an enjoyable read.
However, the success of "Avoid the Protagonist" often hinges on the execution of the plot. Some iterations of this trope can fall into repetitive patterns or introduce contrived scenarios to force interaction with the original protagonist. The pacing can also be uneven, with periods of quiet avoidance followed by sudden bursts of unwanted attention.
Furthermore, the world-building can vary in depth depending on the specific webnovel. While some stories meticulously craft the world and its lore, others focus more on the interpersonal dynamics and the protagonist's avoidance strategies. Readers looking for intricate world-building might find some stories lacking in this aspect.
In conclusion, "Avoid the Protagonist" offers a refreshing and often entertaining twist on the transmigration/reincarnation genre. Its unique premise, engaging characters, and potential for humor make it a compelling read for those tired of the typical hero's journey. While the execution can vary, the core concept provides a solid foundation for a captivating narrative. If you're looking for a webnovel that subverts expectations and offers a protagonist with a decidedly different goal, "Avoid the Protagonist" is definitely worth exploring. Just be prepared for the constant comedic tension of whether they will succeed in their surprisingly difficult mission of staying out of the limelight.
