Nisio Isin (西尾維新 Nishio Ishin), frequently written as NisiOisiN to emphasize that his pen name is a palindrome, is a Japanese novelist and manga writer. He attended and left Ritsumeikan University without graduating. In 2002, he debuted with the novel Kubikiri Cycle, which earned him the 23rd Mephisto Award at twenty years of age.
He currently works with Kodansha on Pandora, the Kodansha Box magazine, and Faust, a literary magazine containing the works of other young authors who similarly take influence from light novels and otaku culture. He was also publishing a twelve volume series over twelve months for the Kodansha Box line; Ryusui Seiryoin was matching this output, and the Kodansha Box website stated that this is the first time in the world two authors have done twelve volume monthly novel series simultaneously from the same publisher.
In February, 2008, his novel Death Note Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases was released in English by Viz Media. Del Rey Manga has already released the first volume in his Zaregoto series. His Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari and Katanagatari novels have been adapted into anime series. Nekomonogatari (Kuro) has been adapted into an anime TV movie, and Kizumonogatari will be release in theaters this year. Monogatari Series: Second Season, adapted from 6 books in Monogatari Series will air in July 2013. Another of his works, Medaka Box (manga), has been adapted into a two-season anime series.
After helping the lost snail, Mayoi Hachikuji return home at last Koyomi and Hitagi begin their new life as boyfriend and girlfriend and life goes on as well as any who have had to deal with aberrations can. Now together a Koyomi has garnered the attention of a popular student of the school named Suruga Kanbaru. While extraordinarily cheerful and seemingly overflowing with positive views of Koyomi this elite underclassman has her own darkness as Koyomi puts the pieces together after a seemingly chance encounter not only destroys his bicycle but puts him in danger as a cloaked figure with a beastial arm attacks him.
Thus begins the manga adaptation of the 2nd part of the 3 books that make up the Bakemonogatari tale. Through the imagination of Oh! Great the colorful characters are brought to life once more showing how even when things can seem normal there is often times a dark under tone in the lives of those who have encountered aberrations in the past. Of course between the mangaka, Oh! Great, and the original author of the light novel, NISIOISIN, don't be surprised by the plentiful fan service that will accompany the wild artwork, action scenes, and character interactions as each participant of the tale finds their own paths in this world shared by the unknown.
Enter the Monkey(-armed) Girl, Suruga Kanbaru. Excellent introduction and retelling of Koyomi's first very violent encounter with the Monkey's Paw aberration and the events leading up to it. As Hitagi's new boyfriend, Koyomi didn't stop to consider he just might be provoking a spurned rival for Hitagi's affection to act out in a jealous rage. Beautifully illustrated action scenes & fanservice.
Chapter 3 : The Suruga Monkey kicks the story into another gear. Providing more action and drama in addition to the love-relationship blossoming. It just seems to be a total hit with me, the introduction of new character Kanbaru is amazing. She fits so well and adds incredible depth to an already awesome ride of a story. Full marks on a masterpiece of a volume, on to volume five.

I found the nonlinearity and coincidences and framing in some key moments more disorienting than it needed to be. Otherwise, consistent with previous work.
