1. Four other women also want that prize money.
2. There's ten suitors all contesting to take Hailey and the other virgins' precious hymens . . . by any means necessary . . .

I enjoyed this book more than I usually do with extreme horror. It's absolutely filled with gore, action, creepiness and smut. What sets it apart from other books of the same theme is that it's more real and raw. The characters aren't just one dimensional villains doing whatever evil they can to other equally evil people. These people are more genuine and it was refreshing to read.
I was enjoying all the disgusting action when about 3/4 of the way through, the book threw in a curve ball and got crazy bizarre!! I wasn't expecting that!
The way the book ends makes it clear there's going to be a sequel (yay!) but I was very glad to see this one still had a proper and satisfying finish.
I highly recommend but only to non psychotic and well- balanced adults because this book could take a piece of your sanity :)

"... there were lots of ... things she’d seen on The Virgin that she’d like to repress into the dark vaults of memory: things like watching a two-headed Siamese vampire draining the blood from someone; things like watching three screaming people dissolve into mush in an acid bath; stuff like a roomful of surgically redesigned people, including one man whose entire face had been moved inside his mouth."

Hi, Men's game show, The Virgin, features an underground internet competition for the entertainment of the rich and privileged. In the course of several hours, five armed female virgins compete to keep their purity intact while being pursued by each other and by several masked suitors. Booby traps and unexpected attacks by freaks of nature add to the graphic mayhem and bloodshed. I can't say that I really cared for any of the contestants, but the action was entertaining and the story moved quickly. If you think this subject matter appeals to you, dive right in. But stay within a good ten feet of the swimming pool. You've been warned.

Somewhat like Hunger Games for virgins, Hi, Men! escort agency offers women with intact hymens a chance to win ten millions dollars while battling other virgins and lustful suitors intent on defilement. With little more than hopes and dreams plus “...the power of...pure virginity...” five women must fight (possibly to the death) to preserve their maidenhood.
Hi, Men! (hymen)—(what a clever name for the agency!)—entertains the top upper crust of societies from all over the world; those with too much money and too few moral values. Everything can be bought when you’re rich and filthy filthy rich. Even virginity.

I’m always impressed by Wol-vriey’s dark and beautifully twisted imagination. This story is wildly creative and full of action, gore, violence and some very unexpected surprises. I love how how Wol-vriey mentions places and people from his previous stories. His characters are always well-developed and have their own distinct personalities. Annette was particularly fascinating. I found the ending extremely satisfying, though I am hoping for a sequel/companion novel.

The Virgin by Wol-vriey is a story of complex Extreme Horror that slides brazenly into the realm of Splatterpunk. Oh yes, the synopsis blurb is just a tease.

Wol-vriey has taken the premise of the game show horror story to new heights off depravity and intricacy. His characters are vivid and entertaining, with colorful backstories that are skillfully revealed over the course of the book.

Then there is the shocking storyline twist.

You could have knocked me over with a strong exhale when the story took a hard right into another subgenre mix. I cannot say more without spoiling the surprise, but I will say hold on to your mind and your lunch.

The Virgin is an exceptionally fun extreme horror read, much like watching a good Rob Zombie or Eli Roth film.

Highly recommended for the Extreme Horror crowd.

Grisly. Brutal. Compelling.

Take your favourite survival-of-the-fittest action film and throw out any hint of restraint, censorship and sanity and you might end up with "The Virgin". Less smutty and more "WHAT DID I JUST READ?" than I expected, this was a whole lot of (sometimes cringe-inducing) fun. Not for delicate constitutions or the easily outraged.

The only reason this book is getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because it had a slow start. Once it got going, it was great. Plenty of blood, along with a decent story. I really hope there's a sequel of Final Girl
An underground internet show if offering millions to virgins for a 3 hour live show of them fighting for their lives and hymens.
There's booby traps, men to avoid, and contestants trying to kill each other.
It was a slow start, but we'll worth the read. I didn't get hooked until I was about 70% in. The ROC room was brilliant. I hope that's the sequel. .

The blood level was pretty good and in very creative ways.

Virgin is a very popular annual t.v game show that has five attractive bikini clad female virgins from all walks of life battling ten suitors drugged in a high state of arousal in a challenge to maintain at the end of the three hour show with their virginity intact to win the main prize of 10 million dollars.
Each lady has their own personal reason for needing the money and all are as desperate as each other. They are set out separately on a course rigged with cameras everywhere. There are buildings to hide in and out of and they wear watches that map their movements and so the producers and viewers can see everything. Every contestant has an array of weapons and they can use any means necessary to try and eliminate every other person in the game.
Some competitors try hatch cunning plans to lure others in to their lairs and others try strike deals to work together in order to split money but everyone is really out for their self.
Throw in some unexpected curveballs like creatures such as a Siamese two headed vampire, surgically redesigned people, a horribly disfigured man with his face collapsed in to this mouth, hidden transexual suitors, booby traps and a insane lab basement full of freaks and this is one gameshow our main protagonist Hailey will not forgot or wish to repeat.
I liked the pace at which this story moved with the simultaneous sections of each challengers story.
I wanted to keep turning the page to find out who would be the winner and so I read it in one sitting. Some aspects I guessed and others shocked me.
When faced in such a position for a money it was interesting to see the survival instinct fight or in some case surrender.
It is quite a macabre tale and fairly erotic but it all ramped up the tension.
I felt a little deflated with the ending but it didn't detract too much from my overall thoughts about the book. This author has one quite wild imagination and I for one enjoyed the ride.
My thanks go to the author who provided be with a arc in return for a honest review.

The running man meets cabin in the woods. This was a fun book and I read it in two sessions. Some areas were predictable and then there were some areas that made me question if I liked the way the book was going. SPOILER ALERT FROM HERE ON :

The whole monster scene threw me off, I didn't hate it, in fact I enjoyed it but at the same time I felt like it didn't belong in the book and was only a quick way to advertise for his book called "the final girl" (which I have not read). Overall it was a fun book and I will read some of Wol's other books, I'm just not sure which next.

Amazing

This was an amazing read. It has everything an extreme horror fan wants blood, gore, brutality and viciousness. On top of all that a great storyline.with fantastic characters. I really enjoyed it. I was gripped from the start, wondering where it was going to go, but very soon knew. It had you rooting for certain characters and then changing your mind. Then feeling physically sick at parts but still excited. It was captivating and had there seeing it all and wanting to read faster. A really great book and now one of my favourites. I'd definitely recommend to anyone not easily offended.

** Editing to add that the author has contacted Gavin to confirm the random chapter is related to their other works.**

‘Hunger Games’ meets ‘Running Man’ meets ‘Survivor.’

Yup.

Look, I’ll admit, the synopsis intrigued me in a “really?” sort of way. It was offered up, our odd/strange/bizarro guru Ben posted a hilarious meme to suggest he would like to review it, but I was pulled in. So, it was sent and I read it and just, huh.

What I liked: The premise intrigued me the same way ‘Revolver‘ from Michael Patrick Hicks intrigued me. Revulsion, horror, shock, outrage, curiosity! Let’s take some virgins, toss ’em on an internet reality show, where they need to keep their maidenhood intact for three hours. If they do, they win their portion of $10 million. Five contestants enter the small town set. Then they discover that there are ten male suitors, trying to take their innocence and that they can kill each other or deflower each other in any way they see fit to eliminate the other virgins.

I enjoyed some of the action sequences, it had me intrigued and as the chapters went along I really did want to know just who the hell was going to survive and win the cash.

What I didn’t like: Three things really. The first – I wish this had gone through another drafting stage. There were parts that just seemed overwritten and not refined enough and there were some areas that felt like they’d been cut and paste from a first draft. It’s hard to really describe, but some chapters read magnificently while others just seemed to be tossed in last minute. The second thing – I cared not for any of the ‘behind the scenes’ chapters with the hostess. Most of these chapters were ones that felt thrown together, but I didn’t find it added anything to her as a character.

The last thing – there was a totally, completely and 100% out of left-field chapter that left me head-scratching. At the point in the book it appears, it made zero sense, had not been foreshadowed or alluded to anywhere prior and while it was then referenced at the very end, it almost caused me to DNF as it just was such a shock to the reading experience.

Why you should buy it: Judging from the author’s tongue in cheek biography, I think if you enjoy the torture-porn/extreme horror side of things, this would be an author you’d be excited to discover

Review of “The Virgin by Wol-Vriey”

I will admit the synopsis for this book pulled me. I had been consumed by curiosity thinking of picking this book up until I finally gave in. It’s books like these that have me wondering when I became so tainted. Human curiosity can be disgusting and I’m ashamed to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It’s an extreme Hunger games with a dash of bizarro horror.

The Virgin is a dark web TV show where 5 virgins are in a contest to win 10 million dollars if they can stay alive and intact for 3 & 1/2 hours. Not only will the girls have to fight off 10 male suitors but they are also competing against each other and anything goes. Major Trigger Warning for rape just so you know.

“𝐈’𝐦 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐚 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭. 𝐍𝐨, 𝐈’𝐦 𝐧𝐨𝐭. 𝐈’𝐦 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐈’𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐭.“

Whether it be greed, money troubles or extreme acts of violence with no consequences, every woman has their own reason for joining this crazy game. We see through the eyes of 6 strong female characters, all from different walks of life. The game is constructed in a walled bordered around an abandoned town with various houses and stores for hiding. One of things that really got me were the traps hidden filled with various creatures (spiders, bears, rats, etc.) that can be set off by the opponents or by the controllers if they hiding for too long. This story was nonstop entertaining to me and I read all 183 pages in a day. (I’m a slow reader so that is a big deal to me.) I do have to give a trigger warning for rape and also the editing. There are many words I caught that were misspelled but that doesn’t bother me as much as it does other people so I thought I’d at least mention it. I gave this book 5 ⭐️ for creativity and nonstop entertainment.

If you made it this far into the review, I’m sorry for this quote but I love it so much.

“ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭, 𝐠𝐮𝐲𝐬, 𝐢𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐧𝐨, 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐠𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞, 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐣𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐟𝐟.”

Incredible book that hooks you in and entertains you right from the opening scene. If you read the Hunger Games and wished it was a whole lot more raw and visceral, this is the book for you. This novel is pure, unadulterated entertainment and is a fun ride, but it gets even crazier at the 70% mark and there is a twist that would make even the most hardcore horror fans queasy. This book gets a rare 4/5 from me.

Although it’s not as brutal or extreme as some of Wol-vriey’s work, perhaps the most terrifying thing about The Virgin is just how plausible it is. In a world of reality TV, ever-more-absurd game shows, the dark corners of the internet, and sheer human greed, it’s all too easy to believe such an event could happen. That’s assuming, of course, it’s not already happening, making this a documentary . . . which, aside from a few final twists, is not that hard to believe.

The concept of The Virgin gameshow is simple – 5 virgin women are dropped into an abandoned neighborhood where they must survive 3 hours with their hymens intact to win 10 million dollars. As it turns out, however, their darkest threat doesn’t come from the 10 virile men who are chasing a bonus for every deflowering, but from each other. Picked as much for their pride, lust, envy, and wrath as for their greed, these women aren’t interested in alliances, and have no intention of splitting the prize money. It’s a no-holds-barred, anything-goes contest, one with zero real-world consequences, and each and every one of them will kill to win.

My first impression of this was that Wol-vriey did a fantastic job of establishing the characters, giving each woman personality and purpose, but the overall story was feeling strangely toned down and reserved for what I’m used to from him. Sure, there were impalements, stabbings, and beatings, but even the first fatality felt kind of, well, standard. I was enjoying it, but had kind of expected more.

And then we discovered the boobytraps.

You see, to ensure the contestants are always on the move, maximizing the potential for sex and violence, many of the buildings are boobytrapped, ensuring nobody feels safe or stays idle for long. The first time one of those boobytraps comes into play is when two women are locked in battle, attempting to deflower the other with whatever’s on hand. A horde of massive, poisonous spiders come pouring down from above and, within seconds, the unfortunate woman directly beneath then is a swollen, bloody, paralyzed mess, hardly ripe for the taking, but easy prey for any man who stumbles upon her.

That upped the ante, pushed the story into darker territory, but it was the surprise beneath another boobytrap that plunged this into patented Wol-vriey splatterpunk bizarre. I hesitate to say too much about that surprise, but it comes as two women are trying to manipulate one of the men into deflowering the other, only for all three to fall through the floor into what seems an inescapable basement. There’s an odd hallway leading off the room, however, that seems like it shouldn’t be there . . . with doors marked by an odd red octopus image . . . and horrors unimaginable behind the only door that opens.

What may surprise readers who are unfamiliar with Wol-vriey is that The Virgin is actually very feminist, more about feminine empowerment than misogynistic exploitation. There’s a woman with her own (ahem) unique virginity behind the show, and it’s a game where the women hold all the power. They’re contestants, not victims, fully aware of what’s at stake, and not only armed, but equipped with smartwatches to map their progress. If they had chosen to team-up, they could have quickly taken out the men and then waited out the 3 hours to earn 2 million dollars each – they make their own choices, leading themselves to deflowerment (or death), with the men little more than tools. It’s a fantastic story, fast-paced, violent, and full of fantastic twists, and well worth the read.

****This book contains triggers for those that are sensitive to rape/deprivation/extreme violence****

The Virgin is a story about a game show. This is a game show that only women who are virgins with hymen intact can participate. The prize is $10 million dollars to the winner who survives 3 hours in the game setting while keeping their hymen intact. The Hi, Men! corporation has selected 5 women to compete for the grand prize, but 10 men they call suitors will do anything they can to make sure the women do not win the game for a prize of their own. Anything goes in this game setting and I mean ANYTHING. Cameras are everywhere watching as the event is filmed live and played for those who are willing to pay and place bets on the contestants. The women learn very quickly that the game is not truly just a game, but a lesson in survival not just for their virginity, but for their lives.

I really did not know if I was going to enjoy this book after the first few chapters. I stuck with it and found myself rooting for the women playing the game. This was very much a cross of Hunger Games and The Running Man for me. There are some brutal scenes that occur throughout the book. The clause in the game that women consent to “anything goes” just by playing the game was a little hard for me because I am very conscious of the true meaning of consent thanks to my friends in the BDSM world. Overall, the story was good. WOL-VRIEY has woven a story that combines brutality, imagination, and viciousness for us that works.

Man this was a ride!!!! As soon as I read the blurb I was fascinated and keen to get my teeth into such a unique story. This didn’t disappoint.

Wol-vriey has wound together an extremely interesting premise and the end was a big twist that I’d never have guessed.

The Virgin is a weird and awesome combo of spatterpunk, gore, erotica and horror. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the situations and scenes described in The Virgin, and then seriously questioned my sanity as this is... well... an extreme book.

If you’re looking for something as trite and poorly written and unimaginative as the 50 shades series then don’t bother with this. Unlike that trash heap, this is well written, is actually erotic and propels you devestatingly towards the end where you are smacked in the face with a shovel with a twist.

If you are a gore fiend I highly recommend this!!!

I was provided a free PDF copy of The Virgin in exchange for an honest review so here it is:

WHAT IN THE WORLD!!! I love extreme horror novels (my fav genre) and while I have seen many 'process of elimination' movies; I had never read a process of elimination book before, so this was a treat.

I was excited to see how this book would end (I even chose who I thought would win - I was right!) and then I was stunned when the big moment occurred. I felt like the big moment had no place in this book and it felt like two separate stories. I started to lose interest because of the big moment, believing that it was displaced in this story line, it just didn't make sense to me, UNTIL it did, on the last few pages when it all came together. BRAVO Wol-vriey!

I was provided a free PDF copy of the novel in exchange for an honest review.

I'd never heard of this mostly unknown splatterpunk author before, but when he came my way offering me a copy of his latest work in exchange for a review, I accepted. I'm glad I did because as far as horror stories go, this is a fun one.

Wol-Vriey has created a cinematic read that has an idea of where its story is going, something a lot of horror authors, particularly splatterpunk authors, miss. The gross-outs in the story (there are plenty) all help propel the story forward instead of just existing to simply gross out the audience and are well-placed for maximum effect.

The characters are all understandable and easy to tell apart, and the story reads fast and dirty.

My one criticism of the story is a small one.
I felt like it was weird that The Virgin, the titular show, didn't try and create characters for any of its contestants. Reality TV, even an underground online version like the show's, always try and create an archetype for a person to fit into to keep people watching because you want to see that one particular person win.

Seeing as a sequel to this book seems likely with the sequel hook, I'd be more than willing to read it whenever it's written as soon as I can.

Ok. Its now the next day and i'm still not sure what to say?

Firstly, let me start by saying I loved the book (although I feel kinda dirty for doing so). It has also taken longer to read than it should as I had to read in short bursts.

This book was both horrific and entertaining in equal amounts. Its basically a 'reality show' on the dark web kinda like the Hunger Games but where the woman can lose not only by being killed but also by being caught by one (or more) of the suitors and losing her virginity. The suitors get a cash bonus for every virginity taken.

Ive read a lot of extreme horror and this is the first that has made me feel guilty for enjoying it... Not sure if that is a plus or minus. With that said...Ive just added the sequel to my Kindle Unlimited list so make of that what you will.

I think the scariest thing was how real it felt (well...until the basement that is...)

Now i think i need another shower...

(I havent given it a star rating as I genuinely have no idea what to rate it.)

The Hunger Games of Maidenhood

This story caught me quickly and reeled me in until the last page. There is a very unique idea and it is done with a sense of female empowerment instead of an orgy fantasy most would expect from a man. My only complaints: Teresa and her "biatch" ugh.
Also, there were a few mistakes that as a reader broke the flow for me. With a good editor, this could be AMAZING!

There is actually not as much sex as you would expect from a story about 5 virgins fighting to keep their hymens.

Side Note: I lowkey want a HYMEN PROTECTION hoodie now.

I was provided with an ARC copy of this novel in return of my honest review...

One word ... WOW! I was hooked from the very first page and once I’d started I just had to finish it!

This is like “the hunger games” crossed with chainsaw massacre, topped with a few desperate money fuelled virgins and finished with a handful of testosterone fuelled sex deprived men! I loved it!

At times I was cringing at the graphic content but I could not stop reading!

I did feel like I wanted to know the characters in more depth because I didn’t really feel like I was routing for a particular “girl to win”... but overall it’s a great book.

If you like fast paced, grim death and sex this book is for you 🤙🏼🤣

Game show

I read a similar story not to long ago by Matt Shaw called the Game. It was similar because there can only be one winner. Mixed with the new movie The Hunt and add virgin women fighting to keep their virginity. I wanted more. I also loved the bonus material in the basement.

Thank you to the author who gave me a free copy in exchange for a review.

A very interesting synopsis, one that I think would intrigue most people. I read it very quickly because there was a lot of action. Extremely gory, and made even more disturbing by the fact that this is literally about trying not to be raped in a hunger games-style arena.

I thought the main character was built on slightly sandy foundations, in that in the beginning, she was very aware of her morals, yet as soon as she went into the arena, the violence she showed came quite naturally to her and she didn't really seem phased that she had turned into quite the psychopath. Perhaps I'm being naive but I'm not convinced that someone can become unbothered about their actions that quickly.

Overall, the book had a good concept. Very different to what I've read before, a disturbing mix of horror and smut. However, the characters did not have the depth that I would like to have seen, which means it gets 3 stars from me!

I really love battle royale type stories so I picked this one up and it’s really good. There’s not really a bad thing I can say about it. The characters are unique and diverse, it has a lot of underlying societal messages, and I was afraid Hailey would seem… basic, but she subverted my expectations and turned out to be a fairly interesting character. I actually found myself rooting for her. The only part I didn’t really like was when they fell though the basement. I wasn’t expecting it and it felt like a change that was making me question too many things. You’d think a show as significant and thorough as the virgin would check to see what sort of stuff was under their battlefield but I guess they weren’t careful enough. Though despite my slight criticism, I’m disappointed there isn’t a sequel. I really liked Miriam and her husband as antagonists (I guess they would be antagonists) and I want to see their antics and ideas in more situations. I hope that one day we can get a sequel.

I like extreme horror for some of my reading and viewing consumption, though I didn't know from the description going in that this book was in that category. However, it set the reader up for it nicely, gave you fair warning if its not your thing, and delivered good on its promise.

The premise is pretty insane but also believable, elitist rich watching on secure sites for boredom relief might not be too far from the future. Picking contestants for fitting certain parameters has to be common for any reality show. Stacking the odds in favor of ratings, making it as exciting as possible, its pretty on the nose. And then it goes off the rails.

I wonder if the author mentioned will be brought up in any resulting sequels. The latter half of the book introduced things that were grotesque but fascinating, because I think that if there is a sequel, they will factor in greatly. I enjoyed the book and would read the next one.

When I read the blurb for this book I knew it could go one of two ways: a brilliant jab at rape culture with a lot of grit or just rape fantasy gore porn. It was the latter. This has the worst of “men writing women poorly.” It feels amateur and not fully fleshed out. I think the author is gifted with a wicked imagination but needs to spend longer on character development, atmosphere, thematic sophistication, and more comprehensive editing.

That being said I at least need to give 2 stars because it was pretty action packed and had me intrigued enough to finish the whole book in one sitting. I really think this author could pull off something 5 star one day because wow that was wild.
