Lowering Clouds
Gabriele is an actress who, as her career approaches its end, takes a trip to the city where she spent her adolescence. Her sudden visit awakens something unexpected in two of her friends, who see in her an escape from their grey, monotonous days. Through her friends, the actress sees the life she could have had. The burden of fame has been pursuing her for forty years, and only one thing is evident: this trip awakens passions and changes the lives of everyone she visits.

16 books14 followersNúria Añó (Lleida, 1973) is a Catalan/Spanish writer, translator and speaker at international conferences, where she presents papers on literary creation, cinema, cities and authors such as Elfriede Jelinek, Patricia Highsmith, Salka Viertel, Karen Blixen, Alexandre Dumas fils or Franz Werfel. She has spoken at the University of Lleida, the University of Tunis, Jaén University, the International University of Andalucía, the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC-Madrid), the Sysmän Kirjasto Library in Finland, the Shanghai Writers’ Association, Fudan University, East China Normal University, Sinan Mansion, the Cervantes Institute in Shanghai and Krakow, the Conrad Festival in Poland, Massolit Bookshop, Bar Baza and other cultural institutions.
Her work has been translated into Spanish, French, English, Italian, German, Polish, Chinese, Latvian, Portuguese, Dutch, Greek, Arabic, Romanian and Swedish.
Her first novel, “Els nens de l’Elisa” (2006), was ranked third in the final shortlist for the Ramon Llull Novel Award. She later published “L’escriptora morta” (2008), translated into English as “The Dead Writer” (2020); “Núvols baixos” (2009), translated as “Lowering Clouds” (2020); and “La mirada del fill” (2012). “El salón de los artistas exiliados en California” (2020), translated as “The Salon of Exiled Artists in California” (2020), is a biography of screenwriter Salka Viertel and the community of exiled artists in Hollywood. Her most recent book is “El chico de la medalla de bronce” (2026).
Añó has received numerous international grants and residencies, including Nuoren Voiman Liitto (Finland), the Shanghai Writing Program (China), the Baltic Centre for Writers and Translators (Sweden), the International Writers and Translators’ Center of Rhodes (Greece), Krakow UNESCO City of Literature (Poland), the International Writers and Translators House (Latvia) and the International Writing Program (China). Her writing focuses on the psychology of her characters—often antiheroes—and explores themes such as injustice, communication and the unspoken layers beneath human relationships.

La scrittrice si sofferma esclusivamente sulla descrizione psicologia dei vari personaggi. Non c'è nessuna storia sottostante, gli intrecci risultano essere incoerenti ed inconsistenti.
