Heartwarming.

Two Hearts Trilogy is personal and you will know why when you get to the author's note at the end. This can be purchased either separately as three short stories or as one full book. But I recommend going straight for the full book because it is such a fantastic read with a neurodiverse character, you would want to finish the story.

I just love the way it is written. It's a slow-burn and it alternates between the POVs of Anna and Zoe and we get to peak into the internal thoughts of them both just a little bit. We get to read Anna's mind and that sometimes gets me a smile when she tries to read social situations. And we understand how Zoe feels, which makes me like her more and more.

I love Anna. I actually love them both, but Anna drew me in first. I love how much self-awareness Anna possesses. Even though she has trouble with social cues, she's fully aware that her autistic traits could be a problem for her relationships. She self-sabotaged a previous relationship, and while she also takes a cautious approach towards Zoe, I like how she comes to terms with herself and tries to make a difference this time by working on herself and getting help doing it. I love Zoe too. I think she's sweet and patient. She doesn't profess to know much about neurodiversity but she takes proactive steps to learn about it and about Anna. I love how she challenges Anna once in a while to break out of her routine and how Anna responds to it.

There are also a few side characters who add colour to the book. I personally like Zoe's teenage daughter, Brooklyn, whom Anna tries to interact with progressively, and even Anna's ex, Cynthia, who's pretty great.

This is a heartwarming and light-read. Very positive. Love it!

5 fat stars. Well written lovely romantic book in three instalments.
Zoe moves with her teenage daughter to the small town where Anna has lived nearly all her life. This is the lovestory of Anna who is in her forties and Zoe who is about 50 years old. Both have a past life. Though Anna and Zoe are attracted to each other from the beginning, Anna doesn’t realise that until a little later. Anna struggles with the fact that she has ASD and also with the for her sometimes unpredictable people and situations that surround her. Her diagnosis led to the ending of her previous relationship. There are lots of emotional moments for especially Anna and therefore for the reader, but that doesn’t make the book a heavy read. Bliss keeps a good pace and the lovers make enough progress in their relationship to prevent that. I understand that this was a very personal book for Bliss. I think it was very courageous of her to write it and hope that she will be able to fully accept herself as the person she is, like Anna did in the book, and see her own worth.

I admire the hell out of people who put themselves out there by writing about things that are personally uncomfortable, but push past it to help others gain a better understanding. Such is the case here with the Two Hearts Trilogy. This is the story of Anna Gunn, a brilliant artist on the autism spectrum, who meets Zoe Perez, the beautiful, gregarious newcomer from the big city that opens a bookstore in her small town. Anna has difficulty navigating personal relationships so she stays in her comfort zone by having just a few close friends that she socializes with on a strict weekly schedule, and family that she also schedules time with. Other than that, she is a graphic designer who works from home and paints as a form of personal expression. Anna loves books and was crushed when the local bookstore closed down. She's excited that Zoe has decided to re-open, but at the same time is completely out of her comfort zone having to adjust to a new place - and it's new owner. As Zoe gets to know Anna, she sees what Anna doesn't - an attractive, wildly talented and unique woman - and she's determined to get to know her better.
This is a very sweet, interesting story and more importantly, it gives the reader a better understanding of what it is like to be on the autism spectrum. The insecurities and fears, the doubts, the struggle to fit into society - and the difficulty in opening up to people. It's also a romance, complete with Bliss's signature sexy love scenes. I reviewed the first story of the trilogy when it was released in audio and after listening to all three, I remain disappointed by Tanya Eby's performance as Anna. She speaks in an almost robotic manner and though I believe that's how she was trying to convey Anna's awkwardness, it missed the mark and did a disservice to the character. Melissa Moran voices Zoe and she is great BUT as I'd mentioned with the first book, Zoe is Hispanic and Moran can't properly pronounce the few words Zoe uses in Spanish. I love it when writers include Hispanic characters because they're so few and far between. I would like them to go one step further and hire narrators who can at least learn to pronounce the words in Spanish with the proper accent. Beyond that, Moran's work on it was excellent. I do recommend this trilogy, but would go with the written version over the audio, if possible. Bliss has been digging deep this year with this release and A Breathless Place and ends this book with some personal commentary that makes me admire her all the more. It's fitting that Anna is a brilliant artist that doesn't recognize how ridiculously talented she is. I just hope that's not the case with Bliss herself, because that would be a real shame. Five stars for the story, less for the narration.

Damn, it’s been a while (way too long) I haven’t read a book by Harper Bliss ... I’m glad I found this "all in one" format ‘cause I enjoyed this series. I really liked it but I still wonder why Zoe & Anna's story hasn't been released under the full length novel format it would have deserved... I'm glad I bought the complete trilogy because it's in its "complete novel" form that I've been able to read the book, reading it in the divided up format would have been frustrating...

Oh !!! It's so good to have diversity in lesfic !!! As MCs, this book features a WOC (Zoe) and a neurodiverse character (Anna who has been diagnozed with ADS) … If I remember properly, it was my first time reading about a character with ASD. And there are cute dogs as a bonus !!!
I liked a lot the shift of POV from one MC to another with each new chapter. It was easier to connect with the characters…

As cute and touching as it is, from my POV, that's a real shame that this topic seems to have been quite lightly treated and the short time-frame found in the book (at least until the end of chapter 16 in the third part) makes some things not totally credible sometimes (especially the "I love yous" coming after just a few weeks and Anna’s very quick progresses in therapy)... Since Anna is a creature of habits, it seems quite surprising that, so quickly, she’s been able to change so quickly so many things for Zoe … But I’m no shrink, maybe that’s possible in real life...

I think a more important role could have been given to the secondary characters, to add some drama and challenge more both MCs individually and their relationship. It would have brought more credibility to the story 'cause the way it is right now, that's way too smooth and "perfect" ...

It remains a good and quick-to-read story, though. … My rating : 3.5⭐️

Together at Last!

This trilogy bundles the novellas Two Hearts Alone, Two Hearts Together & Two Hearts Forever. Each story takes you further along on the journey between Anna and Zoe as they meet, get to know each other and fall in love. Anna is a graphic artist and a wonderful painter. She works from home and is very awkward around people. She has a set routine and follows it closely or things begin to feel out of sorts for her. Zoe and her daughter are new to town. Zoe has reopened the book store but has made some changes which both pleases and angers Anna. Anna is a handful but Zoe is quite taken with her. Watch as these two learn how to overcome the trials and errors of a new relationship with a partner who is on the Autism spectrum and doesn’t know how to handle it. You will fall in love with these characters and the story will give you the warm fuzzies and a heart full of Awwwws.

So well done. Neurodiversity exists on a huge spectrum and I love that she unabashedly discusses the behavioral presentation, as well as the emotions behind the often misunderstood behavior. True neurodiversity is not about control, it’s about self-preservation and responding to sensory and emotional overload. So well done.

First, this is a FAVORITE ! Neuro divergentcy is handled so beautifully here. Anna has been diagnosed later in life and is having a hard time handling her diagnosis, to the point that she ruined a 6 year relationship 2 years ago.
On her walk with her dog Hemingway she sees that the bookstore has a new owner.
Zoe wanted a change for herself and her daughter Brooklyn. She loves bookstores and when this one came available she purchased it. When Anna and Zoe meet they both feel a pull.
This is a trilogy of short stories following their relationship and the struggles Anna and Zoe goe through. I love this book. I'm so glad the 3 stories are in one book. It opened my eyes! Worth more than 5 stars!

This trilogy is made up of three novellas. I considered reviewing each one separately, but by the time I finished I felt like it would be best enjoyed as a whole so as such, I am going to review it as a whole.

Two Hearts is very much a journey of self-discovery, love and acceptance. Let me just start off firstly by saying Harper Bliss is one of my favourite authors. When I discovered At Water’s Edge all those years ago, I realised what a truly fantastic soul she was. I have followed her writing career throughout the last five years, and I think this book was not only raw and emotional, but it must have taken an incredible amount of courage to write in comparison to her others.

I understand now why this book was written in three parts because there are three parts to Anna and Zoe’s story and probably a fourth if you include the beautiful, well-executed epilogue that takes part three years after the book finishes.

Anna and Zoe really do have a beautiful connection, but it’s not plain sailing for them. They both come with a heap of baggage, but it’s so worth it. As I am reviewing this as a complete trilogy, I’m not going to into much detail about the story because all you need to know is in the synopsis, but I will say this, Anna and Zoe deserve your time. I know many of my followers will love these three novellas, but here’s a tip… buy as a whole and read this as a full novel. You won’t regret it.

The chemistry between Anna and Zoe is very much there, but it’s a slow build. In fact, their non-sexual chemistry is possibly my favourite parts to read. The slight touches and flirty banter made for very good reading and helped lighten the more emotional parts of the book. When they finally get tangled in the sheets it is absolutely worth the wait, I was expecting tame, but that wouldn’t be Harper Bliss now, would it?

What an excellent book. If you’re looking for an emotional with a beautiful story, then this series is for you.

First of all - don't think you can just read one of the books! Although the first two have some small HEA - only the last one brings the closure for Zoe and Anna. On the other hand without the first two books it is impossible to understand the chemistry between the two women or what's going on in Annas mind.

I personally think, these are mostly Annas books. But I don't believe she would have made it without the loving support and understanding of Zoe.
Watching her falling for Anna regardless of all the obstacles and finally finding the peace in life she was yearning for was so good.
Still I was totally spellbound to follow the changes Anna was going through, while battling ASD.
In the end she is finally able to open her heart completely to Zoe which leads to one of the most beautiful love scenes I ever read.

I have to thank Harper, again, to have two older heroines (in this case close to 50). It is so comforting to read that - in the eyes of the right person - "the scars of life" we all keep accumulating over the years, are still beautiful.

In the Author's Note at the end we learn that these books also shows a lot about Harper's own struggle with ASD. This knowledge makes reading Two Hearts so much more special.

And before I forget - there is an absolutely adorable dog in this book!

I think in every single review for the “Two Hearts Trilogy” by Harper Bliss, I wrote: “I love this series!” Absolutely true!!!

This is my favorite series by Bliss. This might surprise most as it is a clean and sweet romance for two out of the three books in the trilogy and we all know that I do like my books to have a lot of “fun” in them (laugh). Bliss makes the story so good that it does not matter (laugh I am not a pod).

Bliss tackles a subject I did not know a lot of about, but I am definitely reading up on now. I also love how Zoe and Anna approached their relationship. I cannot say that there was one thing I did not love about this book (except Zoe’s ex (laugh)).

This is a series that will have you laughing out loud, “awwing”, and saying “hot damn.” The third book might have you squirming as some scenes should not be read in public (laugh).

I love this series. I cannot say this enough. These are a set of books that I will take out again and again because they have already brought me comfort and happiness. I already have my Forever with Zoe and Anna and you should too.

I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

Harper Bliss has always been one of my favorite authors. I don't recall a book by her I didn't love. But Two Hearts Trilogy is in a league by itself. This is the second lesbian romance I read recently with an autistic main character. But Two Hearts lets you experience if you will, live inside a person in the autistic spectrum. As I do when I read a book, I research the locations, etc. I research autism although Harper's book makes it very easy to understand. I wondered thru the book whom she knew that was autistic, as her description of the character was so accurate. I was truly shocked at the end of the book, when she thanks her readers, that she is autistic herself. I am in awe. The book is simply a work of art. It is the love story between a latino woman from NYC with a child and an autistic woman that feels she doesn't deserve to be loved. But it was the love between them that triumphs in the story, it has everything, plus adorable dogs. Harper has outdone her usual excellence in storytelling.

What an outstanding trilogy, written so from the heart! I found myself touched with so many emotions while reading. Bliss is a truly gifted writer--or as she says so well--"writing is her superpower", and, unlike so many lesfic novels that are filled with shallow, cardboard, two-dimensional characters, Zoe and Anna are embued with depth and complexity.

We learn fairly early in the story that Anna has autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and in spite of Anna's desire to be 'normal', she is shackled by her sense of shame and self-flagellation. Zoe is attracted to Anna, but soon finds herself at a loss for progressing in the relationship. The trajectory of the story shows their growth individually and together: their initial attraction and rupture; Anna's deep desire to 'get' therapeutic support and learn to accept herself; Zoe's desire to understand ASD and to offer space and time to help Anna feel safe with her; and the power of their mutual love that blossoms into an ardent deep love in the process.

This is a truly inspiring novel, and if I could give this 10 stars I would!

I already reviewed the other books separately but wanted to share what I said there. Just because these books mean so much to me.
Honestly I‘m a bit at loss for words right now and don’t think I can’t thank Harper Bliss enough for sharing this story. Before reading these 3 books I knew I‘m a big introvert. But during reading I started questioning myself if it couldn’t be just introversion but also Autism. I found so many parts of myself in Anna and could relate so much. The journey she took and the growing was just wonderful to read. Zoe is the perfect partner for her and I loved how she grew as well. Or rather how they did together. My eyes are still a bit wet and I think I will need some time until I‘m able to read another book. Just because I‘m still so into this book. Harper you really outdid yourself and I‘m so happy for you that you were able to share. So just thank you again.

Touching and genuine!
A wonderful tale of contemporary romance. Yes, this is a love story of two beautiful people set in a cozy town filled with loving family and friends. And yet this is not an easy story with made up angst to add tension as the lovers come to terms. Real issues like parenting maturing teens, disruptive ex’s and loving but not quite perfect families are themes but central is the exploration of Autism Spectrum Disorder. The vulnerability Harper Bliss shares through this story of her own journey to discovery, coping and acceptance of her own Autism is touching and real. This is a well told romance, shared in true “Bliss” style and it is complete and satisfying and just beginning.

Uplifting

Not sure what I expected when I began reading this book as it wasn't what I'd usually choose to read, but I was surprised how much I enjoyed. I really liked the characters, a must for me, and I wasn't disappointed. Not only an enjoyed read but a insight into being not quite the accepted 'norm'.

I loved this!

Written by a neurodiverse author, a WLW romance added the unexpected joy of seeing the relationship develop through the eyes of a neurodiverse protagonist. This was illuminating in ways I hadn’t expected and for that I am grateful. This is a book that has gone on my permanent bookshelf.

An engaging and uplifting read, in spite of the romance/story revolving around the chalenges Anna faces with her neurodivergence. The setting, characters and author's storytelling skills makes this novel a memorable one for me.

I loved the story set in a small town where two women who have endured challenges find each other. It was refreshing to see a main character with a disability, in these books, on the autism spectrum or as I learned, neurodiverse. It is a very slow burn originally released as three separate novellas. I really like the main characters and the development of their relationship in books 1 and 2, and it was the icing on the cake when they become lovers and partners in life in the 3rd installment. The book didn't disappoint. I loved both characters, and enjoyed their adventures if finding each other. There was one thing I was a little let down by with the ending. There was a jump ahead in the story from the time the two main characters became lovers to three years later when the book is about to end. I was eagerly looking forward to the discoveries and leanings that go with any new relationship, especially as they both overcame so much to make a go at love, particularly to see how the character who was neurodiverse went from becoming lovers to making a life together. I was disappointed not to read those adventures. Despite my wish for a more fleshed out ending, it was a fulfilling story with interesting main and secondary characters. I would love to drop back in on their lives again one day.

Slow-burning HEA with older women meeting in a small town

In this romance in three parts, the reader is invited to see intimacy and loving through the eyes of sensitive, introverted and artistic Anna and her unexpected love interest, the extroverted, equally sensitive and caring Zoe. Zoe comes into Anna's life with exuberance and a teenage daughter and her life is turned topsy-turvy, in a good way.

Harper Bliss sensitively portrays the growing attraction between the two women who come from such different worlds. The relationship helps both women overcome their individual obstacles and it is an intimate and sensitive portrayal of the autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in an HEA romance.

I am so glad I could read all three of the Trilogy in one go....I would have felt I'd been left hanging if I started the first book without having the second and third available.
It was such a good read...ignore the pun...that I went from start to finish in 2 days.
Anything that involves a dog, love and an insight into a condition I know very little about made a perfect blend. Harper has done it again with something very personal this time.

What a beautiful story! I have read quite a few books by Harper Bliss and this one is so different. It’s a book full of love, soothing, that took me through a journey of discovery and learning totally unexpected. I listened to all 3 books in one go and I just couldn’t stop until I finished. So much care, sensibility, honesty. Even the sex scenes - which we know are a specialty of this author- were so intimate and relevant for the storyline and the characters. Loved it!

Lovely trilogy

I very much enjoyed this story. The characters are very likeable and there is humor throughout. I felt that there was a section or two that needed a little editing or little more of the story filled in, but overall I highly recommend it.

I really like this more than I thought I would however I do feel like it could’ve been more. I listen to the trilogy as an audiobook, which means it was just an eight hour long audiobook for three bucks. I feel like we could’ve had more angst more and maybe you know some follow up to find out what you know went on between even Brooklyn why eve decided to leave Japan I feel like they could’ve been more there. I really really really loved the relationship between Anna and Olivia And, I love how the author who also has ASD really made Anna relatable I do not personally have ASD but my son has autism and he does display some of these characteristics that Anna displayed in the book and I can definitely relate to Olivia in the position of someone who does not have that and doesn’t understand it and doesn’t know what’s going on and I just I love the book. I love the relationship that developed between these two women. I love the connection that Anna was able to develop with Olivia‘s daughter Brooklyn and I just really thought it was an all around great, depiction of a relationship where one is neurodivergent who has ASD who who isn’t your typical every day person and how they were able to build a proper and loving relationship with a woman who is Neurotypical!

Unusually for me I didn’t especially warm to the main characters. That’s not to say they were deficient in any way or unbelievable - I think I just couldn’t see them as a potential couple.

I did however relate to Anna. Long have I been convinced that although high-functioning I too am on the spectrum and the more I read from her perspective the more I empathised with her crushing anxiety and need for timeout and space.

I also felt as I was reading that Harper was writing as someone who knows what it’s like to have ASD so I was not surprised by her note to the reader. Perhaps I have been harsh in my rating and maybe I would have enjoyed the book more if I’d read it rather than listened to it on audible. Sorry but I really struggled to relax into the book as I normally would - unfortunately the narration was just too stilted and almost abrasive for me. But then…maybe that’s the point?

This Trilogy is best invested in as a Trilogy, and read as one book, even though it is presented in three parts/books. It's likely that when you get to the end of any particular book, especially, Two Hearts Alone, you may not be ready for it to end. Even as a slow burn, its pace just seems much different than many of Harper's other books. Two Hearts Alone sets the place, and helps us as listeners settle into the town, lives and characters very well. I think that is part of the gift of this book. It gives space for neurodiversity, to planting yourself after upending your life, and to the awkwardness of establishing a new relationship, whether it's friendship or more. It gives space for the characters to linger in what they are feeling, and Harper allows the characters enough time to share that feeling with you. Oh! And all the while, you can delight in the banter. So instead of waiting on the next juicy it, lean a bit more into what the characters are feeling. It makes for an eye opening, insightful, and still pleasing gem of a book from Harper Bliss. And don't worry. There is a little spice. I have listened to this series for the second time now.

This was a pretty modern, inclusive small town lesbian romance story, largely based around self acceptance as someone with ASD and how it affects them, their relationships and perceptions/worries of it. The author includes a note at the end regarding their own diagnosis and why it was an important story to them which made it even better. Not the greatest love story out there, but one that is needed and shows how easily people should be able to set boundaries and have them respected. A really good story that takes you through their journey of ASD and self acceptance.
