Después de tantas emociones en el tomo anterior en este decayó un poco pero sin embargo vimos un buen avance en el tema de las relaciones de los personajes.
A pesar de que debería odiar al "villano" que nos encontramos hasta el momento... No puedo odiarlo. No lo justifico pero tampoco considero que de el verdadero villano de esta historia.
Kagetora is a ninja assigned to keeping princess Beni safe. However, when they are attacked Kagetora is pushed from a cliff, falling into a lake. But something strange happens and he ends up in modern day Japan.
Beni is a direct descendant of princess Beni, baring an uncanny resemblance. Kidnapped and forced to the top of a tall building, she is locked in a verbal battle with her captor (actually trying to convince him to kill her) when Kagetora falls from the sky in a hail of rain.
Kagetora is captured by his enemy (Hitaki) who followed him from the past. Beni is forced to tell her unwanted fiance about her trip to the past and we get a glimpse as to why Iwatsuru (the fiance) is doing what he's doing...sort of. They strike a bargain for Kagetora's life...and this entire volume deals with the fall out.
In Conclusion
Things are getting interesting! Too bad I find to find where to get the next book...
Binge read the whole series in half a day and I loved it so, so much! I always love stories that have time travel just because they're that much more complicated so they take that much more effort and planning from the author(s).
The samurai feel made me think of Itsuwaribito, which I also enjoyed!
I loved the romance between Kagetora and Beni! At first I thought it was too much of instant romance, but later as I kept realizing more and more about their story and being connected over a large span of time--everything made sense and they are seriously a beautiful couple, fated to be together!

I didn't think I was going to continue with this series after reading Volume 1, but I'm glad I did. It gets better with each book. Beni and Kagetora are just so cute! They're thoroughly entertaining. Beni's dad pisses me off and so does her fiance, whom she is being forced to marry. Altbough many ideas in the series seem preposterous, ludacrous - basically all of those words that end in ous, I think that's part of the attraction. It makes the series a fun read and keeps me wanting more - I can't wait to see what's going to happen next!
Iwartsu is classic abused male - he tends to get mean and abusive in stressful situations - I like that about him. Kagetora is deeply wounded Beni would make a deal for him. I wonder if Beni can really predict the future? What's up with the storehouse? I like that Kagetora is starting to realize he can change with the modern times and think about a future with Beni. Meanwhile, Iwartsu is also falling for Beni, he's not as honerable in getting what he wants as Kagetora!!
BOTTOM LINE: The plotting is good, though not as smooth as Black Bird.

Very good continuation with some great, heartfelt scenes between Beni and Kagetora. I'm now torn about Hitaki and Rihito. I always am when hints are given that the villains you love to hate may not be as villainous as they've been portrayed. I am starting to have some doubts about the plot, because there's a number of elements that have been introduced and I'm not sure how they're going to be resolved. But it's a fun ride, and I'm willing to keep going.
We learn that Beni's fiance has a rough life. You feel kind of sorry for the guy. Guess he and Beni do have something in common. And now Beni is acting differently around Kagetora? Wonder why. Can't wait for the next volume!
