He knows he ought to forget her...

But as they become better acquainted, William starts to realize he must make Eloise his. The only question is how.

Eloise loves her new position. But William Townsbridge's arrival threatens everything, from her principles to her very heart. Falling for her employer's son would be monumentally stupid. Series: The Townsbridges #3
Publication Date: 7/21/20
Number of Pages: 105

This was a lovely, quick, short (a couple of hours) read that is entertaining and cheerful. I loved the characters, but because it is a novella, I didn’t get to know them as well as I would have liked – nor was the plot as well developed for that same reason

William Townsbridge, the third son of a Viscount, has just returned home after working in Lisbon for the last year. He’s delighted to return to his wonderful, loving family, but isn’t looking forward to his mother’s matchmaking. What he doesn’t expect is to be served the most delicious meal he’s ever tasted. Each bite melts on his tongue and bursts into the most amazing flavors. His mother’s new cook must be a culinary genius.

Eloise Lamont learned her chef skills at her grandfather’s knee – beginning when she was just a very young child. She absolutely loved every minute of it and voraciously acquired more and more knowledge. When she was ready to make her own way in the world, she had a really hard time getting anybody to take such a young person seriously in her native France, so she headed to England and landed a job cooking for the Townsbridge family. She has come to love them all and they have made her feel really welcome since she’s been there.

When William sneaks down to the kitchen one night for a snack, he is shocked to see a beautiful young woman already there. It turns out that the cook he expected to be older and plump is actually young and very beautiful. OOPS!

William and Eloise are attracted to each other, but they know neither of them can act on that attraction. So, what can they do when they come to like each other more and more? You’ll just have to read this lovely novella to if they manage to have their HEA – and if they do – how?

I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher, via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.

Falling for Mr Townsbridge shows William Townsbridge's return to London after being in Lisbon for a year. He arrives at his family home, to find there is a new cook, Mrs Lamont, who just makes the most perfect dishes. When he visits the kitchen to meet the chef, he's shocked to note that Mrs Lamont is really young, and is instantly attracted. Being a gentleman, and her being a servant, she's completely off limits, but he can't stop himself spending time with her, and struggles with his attraction. For Eloise, she's finally found a perfect position, after training under her grandfather for years. She can't let anything jeopardise her future goals, no matter how much she enjoys William's company.

Going into this, I wasn't expecting the book to be so short. It's only 105 pages, and I read it in a couple of hours, so it's definitely a quick read. Eloise was a good character, as was William, but I think because it's a novella, we didn't really get to know them very well. They meet, spend some time together at the market, Eloise goes back to France for a bit, comes home, argues with William, and flees. Then he realises he's in love, and searches for her and proposes. It was missing a bit more plot, if I'm honest, which is why it's only a three star read.

This is the third novella in the series & is third son William’s story, another well written quick read which I read in a sitting. Another well written book that I wished had been longer as I would have liked to have learned more about Eloise & at times it felt a bit rushed, however it drew me in from the start & I thoroughly enjoyed it
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

This was a very sweet novella sized story which can be read in a couple of hours. Sophie Barnes can always be relied on to write charming stories, no matter what size they are:)

Eloise is the French cook for the Townsbridge family and I wish I could have tasted all those dishes she makes throughout the story, they all sounded so delicious!! William, one of her employers' sons, has come back from Portugal and wants to meet this cook who comes up with such delicious meals and is quite shocked to see that she's young and beautiful! Of course it's instant attraction but the fact that she's beneath his social standing makes them try to ignore each other. Impossible!! Where love is concerned, though, anything is possible:)

This is a cute story overall but it also took me 5 days to read a 100 page novella. The beginning was cute, the middle was slow and the ending was cute. I liked Eloise. She knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to stand up for herself. William though I found him to be a bit forgettable as our main hero. I liked at the end how he admitted his feeling for her and how he wouldn’t give up on them and that made me like him a bit more. I really like how his family treats Eloise with respect. All of the descriptions of food was making me drool. Overall, this was a cute story with some sweet moments but I wasn’t engaged in the entire novella and was hoping for a bit more.

Falling For Mr. Townsbridge, by Sophie Barnes is a short romantic story. Sophie’s writing is light and free. This book reads with a fast pace. Sophie focus the story more on the love that grows between Eloise and William. Sophie, brings humor and a little flirtation to this story. Her characters have whit and a caring heart.
My favorite part as a reader was during the dinner role scene. I was caught up into the intensity of the standoff there. Eloise and William certainly did challenge each other when they could. My fellow readers, I recommend this book. Until next time... read on!

Will he realize in time his true feelings before it’s too late.

What a lovely tale Mrs Sophie Barnes presents us here, Eloise is moving with her grip in reality and William charming in his stubbornness.
William thought he had everything decided when he finally went home after months of absence. He was just to visit until his next move.
But a taste of a bewildering meal, and a view of the entrancing woman behind it and he is bewitched. But every bells shout caution and danger. Why after avoiding her, he walks on eggs and is in the edge to lost his mind.
Eloise while well breed and educated, she knows where she stands, and it is not in the arms of a viscount’s son, worse her employer’s. She made a living there and has dreams to fulfill and while she would not renege love in her life, it can’t be with an upstairs man. Yet upon their few encounters, feelings flourish for him but she is only a cook.

Mrs Barnes brings together two souls who should never have collided, even if only a third son, William can not entertain an affair with a servant without stirring a scandal, it would be seen as outrageous and it would ruin Eloise’s any chance of making a living in her trade.
Yet, with a twist of a turn and very comprehending relations, the author offers her characters an exit door if they are willing to choose the right path.

Falling for Mr. Townsbridge is a light and humorous short read with a very unconventional family who praises love over society’s expectations.
4 stars.

Opinions Expressed here are entirely my own.

This is a very interesting and unusual historical romance💕. I definitely enjoyed this fast paced novella of love denied💔, and true love found💘. I do not discount a 🌟for The book being a novella, as some reviewers do.
The length of a book has little to do with its quality.

As much as William had dreaded coming home, it seemed the new cook his mother had hired was amazing, with all the delectable dishes and the desserts! Oh my, heaven. When he mentioned to his mother that he should lock Mrs. Lamont, the cook away, his sister could only suggest she meet her.
What he did not expect was the beautiful feisty Eloise who was not the image of the cook he had imagined!
To say the least they form an attraction that is magnetic and the attachment begins! But is there any hope for these two of different classes?
I loved these two and watching as they came together and the journey it took with several twists and turns was wonderful. Love anything that Sophie Barnes pens and this is no exception! Prepare to sit back and enjoy!

If you have a hankering for a quick, romantic, opposite social classes attract, regency era read featuring a sassy, talented French born chef heroine and the younger son of an English Aristocrat family, you might fall for this story line in a big way, my fellow romance book loving friends. This novella is heavy on the notion of romance via mental musings, stolen passionate kisses, and amorous touching between this society forbidden pair as their at first glance, soul mate attraction and connection will not be denied. For those who like steam, you'll have to wait til near the end for the "all the way" scene but that does not mean things do not get verra heated here and there along the way.

At only 105 pages, I breezed right through it in one sitting. Being the first and only book of the series I've read so far, it did not matter I had not previously been introduced to this family or any of the sub-characters beforehand. The author did a good job acquainting me to them all.

The main importance here, of course, is love is proven to conquer all and won't be denied, even when social bias and knuckleheaded thinking tries to intervene. I enjoyed the fact when push came to shove this leading man fought for love, and they both ultimately had support when it counted most.

Title: Falling for Mr. Townsbridge, Series: The Townbridges (Book 3), Author: Sophie Barnes, Pages: 105, stand-alone but part of a series, French heroine whose a chef, only one intimate sex scene, rich but has a job aristocrat hero, conflicted social circumstances, romance safe for me.

Book 1 - When Love Leads to Scandal
Book 2 - Lady Abigail’s Perfect Match
Book 3 - Falling for Mr. Townsbridge

I received an ARC of this novella to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. Falling For Mr. Townsbridge is the 3rd book in Sophie Barne’s The Townsbridges series. It can be read as a stand-alone. William Townsbridge, the third son of Viscount Rexley recently returned home from Lisbon encounters Eloise Lamont his family’s fantastic cook in their kitchen late one night and is enchanted by the beautiful and bold young woman, and this is where it gets uncomfortable for me because he comes across as smarmy not heroic. It’s a delicate process to write a story where the power differential is such, and a novella with its short format makes it even more difficult as there is little space for the hero to grow and change. In this case, I never really got what she saw in him as they had little time to interact. He considers himself above her and never once imagines offering marriage until his mother intervenes. I have to say I was quite disappointed in this story. Steam Level: Mostly Kissing. Publishing Date: July 21, 2020. #FallingForMrTownsbridge #SophieBarnes #NetGalley #HistoricalRomance #bookstagram

William Townsbridge returns to his family home in London after a year of living and working abroad. His family has hired a young, spunky French cook. This is a delicious novella, filled with humor, great dialogue, and an endearing family. And lots and lots of mouthwatering food references!

Being a novella, some of the build up to Will and Eloise's relationship is lost. I wish we had more scenes of the two of them to really cement their connection, but there just wasn't enough pages for this, especially when they spend quite a few apart. The romance, while sweet, really only simmered. Will does a monumentally stupid thing, and I loved just how quickly he was put in his place by the women of his family!

Definitely an enjoyable and quick read.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC, all opinions are my own.

This is the third book in the Townsbridge's and in this book, William returns from Portugal. He soon finds himself smitten with Eloise, his mother's cook. Ellie is french and has an aristocratic heritage but her family has fallen on hard times. Hard times forced her to find work and her love of cooking led her to the Townsbridge family. The chemistry between William and Ellie is front and center but they continue to fight it. This was really a novella as I easily read it in a couple of hours. Are they able to overcome the social expectations of their time? A short read that I read as a free copy and voluntarily chose to review.

Men, why do their brains not work sometimes. William is clueless when it comes to Eloise. I love the way Sophie interjects lots of humor into her stories. I have not read a book by her that has not made me laugh out loud. My favorite scene is when he steals a roll from the kitchen and what ensues. Clueless, I tell you. Anyway, this was such a cute and sweet story and I loved reading about this couple.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I admittedly went into Falling for Mr. Townsbridge a tad jaded, as while I anticipated going in relatively blind, another friend pointed out the “smarmy” nature of the hero in her ARC review. And while I tried to keep an open mind, I found my opinion was fairly similar to hers.

While I understand the historical pressures people in the Regency were under to marry within their class, I think Will’s way of trying to stick to that while also being able to satisfy his desires was wrong, in that he basically offered Eloise her dream, but on the condition of being his mistress. He gets talked around at the end by his much more compassionate mother and sister, but without any depth to his character that may have come from a longer book, all you get is him being a creep who doesn’t seem to respect her because she’s a servant.

And it’s a shame, because Eloise has a ton of potential as a heroine. I loved that she had goals, and wanted to work for them, as well as maintaining her honor. Not to mention, I would have loved to see her story developed more.

More than anything, this is a story that suffers due to being restricted by its short length. I think the problems could potentially have been addressed had there been time to flesh out the characters more and have them (especially Will) really confront the issue at hand instead of having him mess up, and then have it immediately solved with an intervention that shifts his perspective.

Originally published at Reading Reality

When it comes to love and marriage, it seems that the Townsbridges are prepared to do whatever it takes, and brave whatever opprobrium society decides to administer, in order to marry the person they love.

In the first book in the series, Charles Townsbridge falls for the fiancée of his best friend – and very much vice versa. They try to do the right thing and forget each other, only to eventually realize that the so-called right thing is not the best thing and marry each other anyway in When Love Leads to Scandal.

Brother James compromises a young woman, or at least it appears that way on the surface. James and his new fiancee don’t even like each other, but the strictures of society have them stuck with each other whether they like it or not. But the lady is willing to court scandal in order to not marry a man who can’t stand her, only to discover that James Townsbridge is, after all, Lady Abigail’s Perfect Match.

But neither of these romances is nearly as unconventional as the one that occurs in this book. Because the woman who finds herself Falling for Mr. Townsbridge is the family cook, Eloise Lamont.

Unlike his brothers’ eventual wives, Eloise Lamont is not a member of the same social class as the Townsbridges, and everyone is all too aware of that fact. Not in the sense of thinking that anyone is above or below anyone else, but in the acknowledgement that any attention William Townsbridge pays to Eloise is going to ruin her reputation, no matter how innocent that attention might be.

And his family did an excellent job of educating all three of their sons that even an innocent flirtation with a servant is simply not done because of those consequences. Especially as William’s interest is not innocent at all. He’s also blunderingly obvious about it to everyone.

He just needs to look inside himself long enough and hard enough to figure out that his interest is worth courting any censure that society might administer as long as he can also court Eloise with the intention of marriage.

Something that takes him so long to figure out that she nearly escapes him altogether – no matter how little she actually wants to.

Escape Rating B: In the end, this is a lovely little romance about falling for the boss set at a time period when that possibility was fraught with even more ways that the situation can go terribly, terribly wrong. Yet it still comes out right.

Their initial teasing between William and Eloise is a bit unsettling for contemporary readers. He may intend it to be just teasing, and as the hero of this piece undoubtedly means it that way, but every single sentence is a two-edged sword that she sees all too clearly. There are obviously too many times already in her history when those exact same words in that exact same tone were just the prelude to sexual harassment. She knows it and we do too. But he has the privilege of being either oblivious or uncaring. A state that he returns to fairly often in the course of the story.

When the scene morphs into mutual banter, it’s a relief. There’s a feeling that she dodged a bullet. Until she steps right back into its path.

Because after the initial awkwardness and outright fear, there’s a mutual attraction here that neither of them is able to deny. No matter how hard both of them try to.

It felt like that was what made the story for me. They are in a supremely awkward situation. No matter how much they like each other or find each other interesting, they’re in positions that mean that his interest in her has the potential to actually ruin her life if he’s not excruciatingly careful. His entire family presses that upon him, so what would have once upon a time been the occasion for wink, wink, nudge, nudge doesn’t happen. And the story is the better for it.

I’m emphasizing his part of this dynamic because of his position of privilege. Whatever happens, it won’t affect him much. The need for caution has to be impressed upon him, frequently and often. Eloise is all too aware that the chance of this not damaging her life is vanishingly small, and she does her best to keep as far away from him as possible.

It’s his family who step in to make him aware that his privilege extends to marrying whoever he wants to, including the cook. Because for much of the story he doesn’t allow himself to think that at all and it nearly destroys any possibilities of happiness.

So, while William and Eloise form the romantic heart of this story, it feels like his family are really the heroes, because they see outside of society’s box and get him to see it too. And that part, the family love and family support – no matter how much society is going to balk – make the story.

The newest in the Townsbridge's by Sophie Barnes is sure to keep you up most of the day! I give Falling for Mr. Townsbridge 4 full steeping teacups! Mr. William Townsbridge has recently returned home from his travels and he sits down to a most delicious meal with his family, his mouth can't believe what wonders fill it and then the delicious pastry to follow just takes him away. He learns his parents have a new cook, Mrs. Lamont. At dinner, his sister Athena suggests he meet Mr. Lamont and he shrugs it off until that evening after everyone has retired. He heads to the kitchen expecting to find an older lady and some delicious pastries, instead, he finds the most attractive young woman and takes his breath away. Mrs. Lamont or Eloise is absolutely shocked to find the youngest Towsbridge man standing before her, she knew had arrived home but was not expecting him to appear in her kitchen or at least she laid claim on it but it was, in fact, his kitchen. The two are both attracted to one another but Eloise knows she can't ever hope to marry a nobleman. She pus the idea out of her head and tries to go about her days... but she can't help thinking about him nor can she seem to not bump into him.

William is also very taken by Eloise and despite his brother's advice to stay away from her, he can't seem to help himself. When Mrs. Lamont's grandfather becomes deathly ill, he helps her gain a carriage and head home but in that time he purchases a house with the help of his parents and his intent is to help Mrs. Lamont reach her dream and open her culinary school. But he also asks something else of her and this causes her world to turn upside down and her heart to shatter...

Can these two defy society and make a life for themselves? Or must they go on only dreaming of the one they truly love for the rest of their lives?

This is such a lovely read, I really enjoyed Williams' arc, he grew a lot from the beginning of the tale and Eloise is such a strong, courageous young woman and she isn't going to use what is at her hands to use in order to gain a place and society and a spot in a man's bed. No, instead she holds strong and is quite happy with her state in life. Barnes did a phenomenal job with this story, the plot keeps one turning the pages and rooting for the romance blossoming. The only thing I would say is the romance went too fast, I felt William fell for Eloise a tad too quick and also there wasn't enough tension between the two. I love that there is a class difference between the two, I think it's great seeing more authors writing about this because I'm sure these romances and ultimately marriages did occur, yes at a cost, but they most likely did occur and it's wonderful to see more books written about these romances and the struggles they must overcome. This is definitely a book you will want to add to your summer TBR!

Sophie Barnes has written a 5-star book. William has just gotten back home and is told by his sister Athena that their mother has hired a new cook and that he will be surprised with her cooking. Once he tastes the food he wants to meet the new cook. Eloise is down in the kitchen getting her list ready for the next day when Williams comes into the kitchen. She is not what William was expecting and there was an instant attraction to her. When he tells his brothers Charles and James about her, they tell him to leave her alone. If they are even seen talking to each other, their class would think that she was his mistress. He has tried to stay away from her but he can't. Eloise gets a letter telling her that her grandfather is sick and may not make it and William hears her crying to his sister Athena. William tells her that she must go to see him. She gets to her home in France just in time and she is able to talk to him before he passes away. The time she is gone, William decides to buy a house after hearing about how Eloise wants to open her own cooking school. When he gets home one night, his mother is happy and he finds out that Eloise is back. The next morning he waits for her to go to the market and he goes with her and after getting what she needs he asks her to let him show her something. He takes her to the house he bought and when he tells her his plan she rejects it and him. She goes back to his mothers and gives notice as of that moment and she leaves. When William gets there he is told that Eloise is gone. His mother has talked to Athena and finds out that Eloise and William had been talking and now his mother wants to talk to him. Once he tells her and Athena what he said to her, they both let him have it. He spends the next two weeks looking for her but she is nowhere to be found. His brother Charles, tells him that he and his wife has been invited to a house party and wanted to know if he would like to go. He agrees to go but once there wished he had not. He is surprised when he tastes the first course, it tastes just like Eloise's cooking. He goes down to the kitchen and finds her there. She tells one of the other employees to escort Mr. Townsbridge back upstairs but William tells her that he has been looking for her for the last two weeks and that he messed up. William tells Eloise how he feels and he hopes that she will give him another chance.
Can William get Eloise to forgive him for the things he said to her and give him another chance?
Will Eloise be able to get past the social difference between her and William and stay with William?
This was a wonderful short story and I would recommend it to anyone.

As reviewed at Roses Are Blue: https://wp.me/p3QRh4-1in

William Townsbridge has returned home to ponder his future, as he’s completed his last assignment. Though he loves his family, he knows he won’t be staying long, as his mother is bound to start urging him to find a bride, and to even begin matchmaking. Though he’s never been all that interested in food, other than needing it to survive, William is in rapture over the delicious dinner and dessert. When he learns that the family has a new cook, he decides to make her acquaintance. Rather than the round and jolly middle aged servant he thought he’d find, there is instead a beautiful young woman.

Eloise uses the title of “Mrs. Lamont,” though she’s not married, as is customary for cooks and housekeepers. Ellie is French, and has an aristocratic heritage, but her family has fallen on hard times, thus, causing her to seek employment. She is surprised at William’s casual behavior, and his invading her territory. Though she’s not shy about speaking up, she’s also fighting an instantaneous attraction to him, one she’s determined to suppress. She recognizes that William finds her similarly appealing, and hopes that he will not pursue a relationship that can go nowhere.

William is basically an honorable man, and makes a decision right from the start to avoid Ellie, as he’s never been the kind of man to take advantage of servants. It’s not long before his own desires get the better of him, and he’s taking drastic measures that will allow him and Ellie to pursue their mutual passion. His muddled senses don’t see that Ellie is not that kind of woman, and rather than become William’s mistress, she chooses to leave the Townsbridge family’s employ, and vanishes.

I am a great fan of a well written novella. FALLING FOR MR. TOWNSBRIDGE is very short, and therefore doesn’t provide much interaction between William and Ellie. I felt that their instant lust happened much too quickly, and that I didn’t really get to know these characters in depth. I didn’t like the change in William, as he decided to pursue Ellie, and I would have liked to see her be a bit stronger. What I appreciated the most about the story is that William makes his decision based solely on his feelings, without knowing that Ellie has some blue blood running through her veins. Overall, FALLING FOR MR. TOWNSBRIDGE is a light and entertaining read, one which will delightfully fill a couple of hours.

What a quick, funny fast read. I loved it... I don't usually like short stories but this one keeps you reading. The Characters are perfect, William Townsbridge is the third son of a Viscount and has just returned from Lisbon after a year. He is looking forward to being home seeing his family and friends.
After getting home he becomes surprised by his father, Lord Roxley. Neither have ever been over come by food it was just a necessity something one must do. Now he father can't wait for the tea and snacks. His family has a new cook, one Mrs. Lamont who they tell him is simply wonderful.
After just one bite he is in love, the food is divine. His father and sister let him know everything she cooks is just as wonderful. He knows something is up when his sister tells him he should meet her and both his parents don't want him too. Ah tell any man they shouldn't do something and that's the first thing they will do. William waits till everyone is upstairs before heading to the kitchen to find out what they don't want him to know. He is shocked when he meets her. She is petite, with dark curls, piercing blue eyes and young. He finds she is fun to tease and has a quick wit. She is also an employee of this parents he should not be going to market with her, talking with her and thinking about her all the time.
Elosie Lamont is someone he can't keep meeting and talking with.
He goes to see his brothers, and they question him about why he is so distracted.
When he finally tells them both older brothers tell him to stop whatever he is thinking and stay
busy doing things with others. He can't have her and should not even be thinking about her.
AH but the heart whats what the heart want.
This fun story has both William and Elosie knowing where the lines are drawn but neither can
keep the attention from growing.
Do get a copy of this fun book, to find out what happens when a titled gentleman and a servant meet. Their is laughter, sadness, surprises and secrets. Little sister is a hoot and you will love her.
Both say things without thinking them thru and hurt the other. Will they find a way for a happy ever after.. grab a cup of coffee and this book and have a fun break..
I received and ARC from the author and want to thank her
I am giving this review voluntarily .

Eloise is an extremely accomplished cook/baker with a secretive background, and William is the third son of an eccentric family who just found his way home. The kitchen heats up when these two meet and between cute quips and sly glances, they manage to find each other and more importantly, but the other actually needs! Not without a couple bumps in the road however!

For a shorter novella, there was a lot packed into this little book, and quite a few things to like! I LOVED Eloise. She is the heroine you always wish to see in a book. She managed to speak her mind and stand up for what she deserved while also retaining her femininity. Not an easy feat in any book, but especially a truncated one. Another win was William's family, they were lovely! And I can't wait to determine if William's youngest sister Athena has a coming of age romance! She was a pistol from the start.

One thing I didn't enjoy... William our hero! He seemed like a nice enough guy but once he enters the story his family go above and beyond to remind him not to mess with the cook. He states that he's never messed with the staff before, but based on how much his family mentioned it... it really put me off him when he fell for Eloise. I kept wondering if that was really true, did he try to sleep with staff before? It was really odd, and definitely made me think about it a lot considering the book was a novella and they had to come together relatively quick. Plus some later choices really makes you wonder how nice this guy really is...

This was my first book by Sophie Barnes but it won't be my last. The hero's actions don't negate my definite love of the book. I believe this can read as a standalone, but there were a few things that they referenced from previous books that I wasn't aware of, nothing that held up the story, but whet my appetite for those books!

These are my opinions and I give them freely and happily!

Sweet and Silly Regency Romance

This is an unusual Regency romance because it features an upstairs/downstairs couple. When the third son of a viscount comes home from helping diplomats in Lisbon, he is surprised by the better food quality at home and then swiftly becomes enamored of the cook herself. She's French and has been taught how to cook and bake by her grandfather who was a chef at a fancy house in France. They engage in some fun antics (like the kitchen scene), and the hero comes to realize that he truly enjoys his time with her and feels like he can be himself. But the social structure is certainly against marriage between the nobility and servants. She knows it is hopeless as well, yet they are both very attracted to each other. The little moments between them were often silly and sweet, and they certainly kept me reading. I really enjoyed this story. It is relatively low angst, or at least, the more angsty moments resolved rather quickly.

SPOILER
The only thing I had a hard time believing was how quickly and easily everyone in his family accepted their relationship. After the hero and heroine struggled so mightily with their feelings and what to do about them, it felt like a bit of a denouement to have the family be so supportive so fast.
END SPOILER

By the way, if you prefer your romances to be more sweet than steamy, it is relatively sweet with only kisses before the end. There is one steamy scene at the end of their wedding night that you could skip if you prefer not to read those kinds of scenes, although it was a nice one that fit the characters. All in all, I found this simply delightful.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

This was my first read to do the Townsbridge series by Sophie Barnes and now I am curious to find and read the others. This book is a rather short novella and thus is a very quick read for voracious readers.

William Townsbridge who is the third son of a Viscount, upon returning home from working in Lisbon his the last year happily returns to his family dreading his matchmaking mama. William not particularly looking for romance is dazzled when he taste the culinary delights of mother’s latest cook.

Eloise Lamont cooking skills which we find was learned from her grandfather’s is very aware of her social status from that of William and is but looking to make her own way in the world, and perhaps open her own establishment. A native of France, her youth makes being a chef harder which is why she headed to England and landed at the Townsbridges. She feels settled in with the family that has welcomed her and William is a new complication.

It’s is quite clear that William and Eloise are attracted to each other, but know neither should act on that attraction. I personally felt that the characters are not quite developed enough for my taste, but being a short novella that could not be helped. I give this book four stars as I loved watching the two of them fall and love and try to figure it all out. I recommend you read this cutesy novella to see how these two manage to make out.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book in exchange of my honest and sincere opinion.

The aristocrat who is a 👨‍🍳.

William Townsbridge is the third son of aristocrat father, William had had returned from Portugal and when he came to his father house he will meet Eloise Lamont a young French that is the cooker of the family. Well, William is the third son, this is third book of a series the Townsbridge. Eloíse is an excellent cook and her talents call Wlliams’attention. What a book a romance made made in the kitchen. Eloise is French who escape from the France revolution. Her family was almost wiped out in the guillotin. She is a French emigre but nobody knows who she is. Well, William and Eloíse feel atracción for each other. She hides well her true indentification and fell for each other. I really like Mrs Barnes writing. First this a novella that I like more than the novel. The relationship between both look like is doomed based in the difference social class. The struggle between both are tough William frustration because Eloise is a French of an aristocrat background but she does not wants to reveal who she is. I just discover Mrs. Barnes, I can not understand how I missed such good writer. I read the#1 of this series novellas, and I recommend the series of Diamonds in the Rough. I started with #1 and I get into it. I am waiting for the next book. Do you can bribed that after I read #1 I went to the bookstore and I bought the book then I went agains and bought for second time the book. Now I own ebook and two books. How good it is. Unlikely Duke. Buy it gave to Mrs Barnes an opportunity you will not be disappointed.

Falling For Mr Townsbridge by Sophie Barnes is the third book in the series called The Townbridges. The books follow each of the children as they find their “other”. Their mom is a hoot; constantly focused on getting each of her children married. Each child is looking for the person to love like their parents are in love. This romance is about William and Eloise, two people from two different classes in historical Britain.

William Townsbridge returns from abroad and knows he needs to be careful and not fall in his mother’s trap to find a mate. He is happy to be home and before he knows it he is eating the most scrumptious meal of his life. William is determined to find and thank the new cook. Eloise Lamont is petite, young and a wonderful cook. William is knocked out meeting her and really wants to know more. His brothers try to warn him off, his father tries to warn him off, but his sister tries to set him up. What are Eloise and William going to do? Both are going to make choices that are not positive, of course…until…

This is a new book and a new author for me. I found some of the characters interesting and the storyline was unique. I liked the writing, but I was not enamored with William most of the way through the book, but he did pull it out in the end. Falling for Mr Townbridge was a pretty good read.

A delightful love story with a situation that is forbidden by society

William Townsbridge, Viscount Rokley’s 3rd son, returns to the family London townhouse after a year on the Continent working for the crown. He meets the family French cook, and immediately becomes besotted with her. The cook, Eloise Lambert, also becomes enthralled with him, but she realizes that their match is not possible, given societies attitude. William decides that she should be his, and tries to figure a way to make that happen. He foolishly devises a scheme that he presents to her, that stuns her. Essentially he wants her to live in his house and effectively being his mistress. She immediately bolts, runs away from him, quits her job with the family and disappears.
With advice and council from his married brothers, his father, and his sister, William realizes that he has been a fool, and that he should get her back, apologize, and tell her he loves her and wants to marry regardless of what society thinks. He finds her working at a house party and we end with an HEA.
This is another of Ms. Barnes’ excellent regency romances. The characters are real and the plot makes the reader feel good in the end. I highly recommend it and the reader will not be disappointed.

William Townsbridge had just returned from being away from his family while he worked in Lisbon.
He was not the heir but he was wealthy. His father was a viscount and his mother ran around trying to find mates for her children. He was the youngest and he had two older brothers and sisters. When he sat down for dinner he was so surprised it was excellent. His mother told him she had hired a new cook. When he met Mrs. Lamont he was very surprised. Not only did her food taste good but she was young, lovely, and charming. She was also French. She had been trained by her grandfather who was still in France. Their attrition was instantaneous. They both tried to stay away from each other but it didn't work well.
This is an exciting story and it gets better as you read on and see their silly shenanigans, and their heartbreaking ones, too. The characters you had no trouble relating to them. They were funny, confused, and still wanting each other. I think you will really enjoy this book and find it satisfying. It is a novella so it is a little short but very well written and put together
I received this ARC from Net Galley and voluntarily reviewed it.

I received this novella from the publisher through Netgalley in return for an honest review. I have not read many novellas but the ones that do work, in my opinion, are ones with characters who already have a history and are just resolving something. In this one, however, the characters meet, fall in love, overcome obstacles, have a brief pause and get (positive) closure with such speed it sometimes feels like it is narrated by a four year old. Some scenes are very well-written and engaging while others seem terribly silly (like William's brothers knowing that he has feelings for Eloise two minutes after seeing him; or William's mother going from total shock to complete involvement in a clearly sub-par marital project for her son in under two pages). It's a pity because I really liked the characters but the plot was horribly rushed. The reader doesn't only need to suspend disbelief, occasionally has to cancel the cognitive function. This would have worked a whole lot better as a novel.
