I am unfortunately slightly disappointed by this book. The premise had potential and the characters were likable. It just fell flat. The timeline got extremely confusing (things from 30% of the book ago were “last night”? Like how much is happening in less than 24 hours?).
It also seemed like their interactions before the “forgetting” were inconsistent with what was described afterwards. We didn’t get much except that she had a major crush on him and he came into her bakery and flirted with her a bit. I didn’t get the impression they knew each other well at all before the hook up. But then when she’s relaying their “relationship” to him later on it’s described like they were in love. I was honestly really confused.
The second half of the book was much better than the first. The writing seemed to smooth out some (maybe I just got used to it?), and their banter was so much better. Still, I wasn’t overly attached to anyone, and honestly quite a bit of plot wasn’t explained very well. A lot happened and it was like whiplash at times moving from one thing to the next.
2.5 stars for mediocre execution, but rounded up because the spice was so well done and hot, and the banter was good in the second half.
