She does not always look through rose-colored glasses, but suddenly she is, and love overcomes everything. Love, that is the little word that tries to capture this wonderful attraction to another person. In this book ten couples describe how they found their love and why this one person is the one they want to spend the rest of their lives with. Despite its rough edges, or perhaps because of them, they show that love can overcome boundaries and give the strength to get through difficult times together.
Onecouple met at a crisis in their lives, at a clinic for the treatment of acute mental illness. A man had to overcome his own emotional barriers to allow love for another man. Still others have tried to banish a holiday flirtation from the heart - but love is stronger than anything else and often provides a second chance.
Undraped, open and emotional, these lovers share their personal stories. This book is full of emotion and most importantly, it’s real.
"Everyone had to find happiness and passion for himself and not rely on happiness from another person. One must be able to develop freely."
Before I go into the details of the book, I have two declarations. First, a huge huge thanks to @marnymeyer. It was so kind of her to send me this book. It was sorta big deal for me as this was the first time an author approached me to review her book. Thank you so much. And second, I am not a big romance fan. The book has to have a message which goes above and beyond just love between two people. So, undoubtedly I was a little sceptic before I started reading this book.
The book tells the stories of ten German couples. The language is utterly simple and easy to understand. I loved how there was no attempt made to overly dramatise the events. Though every couple goes through their own trials and tribulations, unlike as portrayed in popular media, it doesn't involve one of them losing memory or both of them being terminally sick. But for most of us, the tests of love are seemingly simple yet intricately complicated like, acceptance by your significant other's family, bridging geographical distances, or just overcoming your fear from past failed relationships. Marny Meyer has beautifully captured these feelings in her book and that is what makes it different from other love stories.
Also, I really liked how her book is so inclusive and shares stories of same-sex couples too. Given that we are currently celebrating the Pride Month and if you are looking for short stories about the community, you should definitely look this book up.
I would have preferred if the characters' personality would have been explored a bit more. Two characters meet and start dating seemed a little too far-fetched. But given that the stories had to be kept short, I understand the author's dilemma here. There are some grammatical errors which can be a nuisance to a grammar nazi and which I'm sure will be corrected in the further editions.
Unmistakable Inseparable is a short and not-your-typical romance novel. It's a collection of stories about normal couples, the kind we see and talk to every day. I'll recommend this to ones who hate sappy romantic stories and yet want some love presented in a raw and matter of fact manner.
Before I begin I have to appreciate the beautiful and attractive cover!💕💕💕
This book is a collection of 10 beautiful German love stories where every reader will find a story that resonates with them.
All of these stories are based on true stories which the author has compiled into this wonderful book.
The words used are simple and sweet. Each story highlights different couples with different hurdles which they had to overcome to strengthen their relationship which showed a true side of human love 💓.
Though there were some German to English conversion errors, this book made me believe in love a little more!
This collection of German love stories has a little bit of something for everyone. I love that all of the happy endings and who does not love a good love story with a happy ending? This is a collection of ten emotional short stories. With them being short stories, there was not as much character development that I would have liked.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for fair and honest review.
Love is of all passions the strongest, for it attacks simultaneously the head, the heart and the senses - Lao Tzu
Love stories are not exactly my cup of tea. But these 10 have a delicacy of their own. Written in simple words, without much embellishment, these stories crumbled my heart with the immensity of love contained in them. The fact that these are true stories added to the flavour. Interspersed with a few same-sex love stories, each of them were unique in their own way and pulled on my heart strings. They go to show that love does exist and there certainly is happilly ever after.
One day, I would love to learn enough German to be able to read this book in its original form, as I feel much of its essence was lost in translation.
I thank @marnymeyer for reaching out to me and sending the e-book in exchange for an honest review.
I'm fussy and I talk a lot. So, this review is long.
[First of all, I want to thank the author for sending a free ebook copy of the book for a feedback.]
The book is an anthology of ten stories that center the same theme: love.
Love at a Distance
There was heartbreak right off the bat. This first story was all too familiar: falling for the wrong person too fast; swearing off potential romances; then, eventually, breaking one’s own pact and giving love another shot.
When it came to the writing, there were few awkwardly phrased sentences and the transitions are not very smooth.
Hoping for the Right Words
I would like to take a guess: this second one is the personal story of the author.
My deduction came from the voice and the flow of the story. This had a more robust structure to it, writing-wise. It didn’t sound like a retelling of other people’s stories; rather, it was expressed with rawness that reflected on the pages.
“The mundane was enough to fill them” was my favourite line. When you find the one, even silence in each other’s company can be fulfilling.
This was my favourite.
No More Double Life
Sometimes, in pursuit of our own identity, we forget that our actions can cause collateral damage. As Thomas found his truth, came the collapse of his family life.
Any LGBTQ+ struggles in finding happiness and being their true selves is worth recognizing; their wins even more worth celebrating.
In a better future, this, too, would just be another love story.
At the Bottomless Pit of Life
When someone suffers from any affliction, they need to have someone by their side. Some people even find love with the ones who go through the exact same predicament. Nothing bonds like a shared trauma, right?
By the way, I loved the last paragraph.
We Are Right
If only all parents had the same attitude as Heiki’s, civilization would prosper.
The couple went through bad breakups before they met each other. The difference between them was Stefi went forward and never looked back; Heiki rekindled her doomed relationship with her ex-boyfriend. When the inevitable demise happened, she had a spiral. Thankfully, not for long because she and Stefi met! It was a decent meet-cute.
Hey, maybe Stefi was the pastor that blessed Thomas and Edi?
Time for Love
I am a sucker for epic first meetings. This story kicked off with a wonderful setting, cruise and talking under the stars. However, I didn’t feel as giddy as I ought to have done. Maybe it’s because they were on the cusp of cheating? Well, Laura had a boyfriend.
When Metin and Laura finally got serious, it was awful how her family and friends showed prejudice toward their relationship. It’s terrible how the world seems to always find extra reasons for people to be together, instead of settling for the most important thing—they make each other happy.
“The icy autumn wind caused shivers and made her wonder if it is warm in Turkey now?” was a killer line.
For Better or for Worse
Okay, the fact that Tom doesn’t close the toothpaste tube was enough to convince me he was trouble. She should’ve ditched him the first time with the traitorous kiss.
And, ugh, she seriously said yes? No offense to the real couple, but this was my least favourite story.
Two Become Three
Omg. First of all their names, Bastian and Hanna? [I know he goes with Seba but (Sebastian and Hanna Vettel! ( )]
This was a heartwarming journey to parenthood, especially motherhood. It displayed the hardships some women go through before becoming a mother. It also ended in a touching proposal, so, that was lovely.
Light in the Dark Night
Awful display of how one endures hardship just to please religion and family relations that want to subjugate one’s control of their own life.
Also depicted that some overlook the people that are perfect for them because the others have shinier façade.
Thank goodness the kids were sensible.
First Love
A spunky teenager that knows what she wants? What could go wrong? Nothing she can’t handle, of course.
This was such a simple, delightful story of a first love enduring the test of time. I don’t buy into the concept in real life, of course. But it’s nice to know that some people made it happen.
Final thoughts:
They all had happy endings, more or less. Most of the pairs did not properly settle their disagreements and quarrels. They seemed to sweep the stuff that they were arguing about under the rug. In any case, I hope they are happy and living their best lives.
Now, let’s talk about the writing.
I am a fan of straightforward writing. Not that I mind the flowery, bells and whistles style, I just prefer the no nonsense way. This was written in a matter-of-factly manner, which I appreciate.
Although, the book could have benefited with another proofread. Or maybe it’s just me because I am stickler for Oxford commas? There are also errors on putting apostrophes when turning words into their possessive forms. (Regrettably, I did not get to mark specific passages as I was reading on my kindle.)
In conclusion, it was a light read. The stories and the words were not too heavy. It can be done in one sitting, if one has the time. But, might have been more interesting if it had more complexities (i.e., heartbreak or open-ended endings).

“Unmistakable. Inseparable. Ten German Love Stories” by Marny Meyer
Have you ever thought what real love actually is? How and where to find it? What should you do to keep it strong and passionate? If you haven’t found the answers to these questions yet, you should definitely read Marny Meyer’s short stories. 167 pages long this book is compiled of ten different love stories. They are all set in Germany and this country is presented as an accelerator of a long-lasting love. It bonds different couples and breathes life into those who has lost hope of finding their true love again. Each couple overcomes so many hardships and gets through so many walls before actually being happy for the rest of their lives. The interesting fact is that the reader constantly encounters loads of plot twists while reading. It seems as if you are roller coasting. And sometimes, the ending surprises you immensely as it appears to be completely different to what you’ve expected. From time to time I caught myself thinking: “Wow these stories remind me of so many classical short love stories and world-known Hollywood movies “New York, I Love You” and “Paris, je t’aime”. And this analogy is totally justified as all of the pieces are about love, passion, care and what loving another person with all your heart actually feels like. I also enjoyed the quotes taken from some renowned classic novels. They add certain weight to the story. The writing style is heaven filled with so many beautiful artistic devices you can’t get your eye off the page. Here are some of the main ideas that Marny Meyer reflects in her stories:
No matter what country or continent you are from. For love we are all the same. Love has no schedule. It usually comes out of the blue. “Love knows no age!” Care and support no matter what are the key factors in building a strong relationship. If “imprisoned” in a toxic relationship don’t be afraid to cast off the shackles. You only live once! Listening to your heart is the roadmap to happiness. Distant relationship is a loyalty and decency test. True love does exist and can last for ages!
I would just like to say a huge thankyou to @marnymeyer for providing me with a free copy of her book in return for an honest review. I have never been approached by an author before so this was a special read for me.
To begin with I did find the book difficult to get into. I don't usually read short stories as I find they don't have as much character development as I like. I felt the first few stories were quite abrupt and lacked detail however this is the way of short stories and there is no way around that.
As I read more I got used to the style and enjoyed the stories as they were about so many different people. They were very inclusive detailing the love between same sex, LBGT couples and different religions. Showing some of the plights and difficulties different people faced. However they all ended with love winning out and the couples overcoming their problems. What made this even better was that I realised at the end all the stories were about real life people who had been Interviewed for the book. Giving us hope that love prevails and happiness is out there for everyone.
I especially enjoyed Lana and Marks story. I found it so interesting learning about the Muslim culture and their culture towards womens rights and marriage. It was a beautiful insight into faith and its importance in her life alongside the love she felt for Mark.
Once more thank you to the author for sharing the book with me. I may not have come across it myself and I am glad I was presented with the opportunity to enjoy it.
I was sent a copy of Unmistakable Inseparable by Marny Meyer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~. This is a collection of 10 short stories based on finding love, yourself and developing relationships. It covers the gamut of emotional hurdles from heart break, loss, betrayal and overcoming hardships. It conveys the message that the path to love doesn’t always run smoothly and that we can experience hurt and setbacks in our pursuit of it while also showing the payoff of perseverance in the matters of the heart.
Each story portrays a different scenario with equally tough situations and distinct characters which I really liked. This showed the author’s depth of imagination and ability not to fall back on repetitive narratives and her creative flare for showcasing a multitude of plots.
I give this collection 🌟🌟🌟.5. I did enjoy the plots of the stories but felt they were often rushed due to their shortness which didn’t give enough time to develop the characters and the conflicts they experienced and to allow me time to really connect with them. The stories also ended up being slightly confusing due to this. I think if the plots were developed further they could really be fully engaging and make for a compelling read. Overall though a good portrayal of the myriad ways in which love can affect our lives. I also was happy to see diverse relationships shown including LGBT+ couples.
Marny Meyer reached out and asked if I would read her story and leave an honest review.
This is far from my normal style but I wanted to help her out and give it a try. Unfortunately, I did not fully finish the book but read enough to know that it is not for me. Do not get me wrong! It is a very cute book but I felt it could have had more detail describing the characters. Who are these people? What is the background? What is the full story to how they got into the relationship?
I felt that it at times was very rushed, it felt like I was reading a summary of the couples lives instead of actually reading the whole story. I personally think that if the stories were re-written with more detail and slowed down to show how the relationships formed this could be a very good collection of short (but true) stories.
I want to thank Marny Meyer for reaching out to me and I am happy to have gotten to talk with her the few times that I have. I would be happy to read more from her and give anything she has to write a chance. She is a very good writer but I think with time and some creativity she can become something amazing!
Unfortunately I decided to DNF this book at a halfway point. I finished 5 out of 10 short stories and I feel like I've had more than enough to form an opinion and write a review.
I don't know how to say this nicely - the stories were bad. Everything was rushed and I felt like I was reading a short summary of a full-sized romance novel and not a short story. Also, the plot of most of the stories I read was riddiculous. I know these are supposedly true stories but damn, these people have very toxic relationships and should not be together.
I was bored with every single story, nothing made sense, characters were to me just names on the paper, plot was frustrating and rushed and there was not a single thing I enjoyed. I am not going to rate the book because I didn't actually finish it but it would probably be a 1 star.
I would still like to thank the author for sending me an e-copy of the book for an honest review and I feel bad for not even finishing it and saying bad things but this is my honest review and I don't want to hold back just because the author sent me the book.
Huge thank you to the author Marny Meyer for sending me this book for review. Opinions are all my own.
I don't typically read short stories so some of these comments might be due to that. I enjoyed reading each of the individual stories but wished we could get to know the characters more in each. Knowing that all of the stories are based on real people and real relationships intrigued me and I hoped that would make the characters seem more real. Unfortunately, I didn't feel a connection to any of the characters and felt that everything that happened to them was over so quickly. For example, over the course of 2 pages we spanned almost 20 years of someones relationship but learnt nothing about that relationship.
As I said, these comments could be purely based on the fact that I don't read short stories and I'm used to getting know characters and their relationships over a series of books. That being said - I loved that these were all based on true love stories.
P.S: Thank You for sending me the ecopy of #unmistakableinseparable in exchange for an honest review.
This is a book of 10 short stories of people who find love when they least expect it. It explores the challenges of day-to-day life and how these are overcome when two people love each other. You will find a story for everyone, from romance to LGBTQ to drug addiction, religion... My view is that these tales are future book outlines. The storylines are very straightforward and could be worked, and thought of a bit more. I feel that some of them are too complex to be crammed in a short story's book. In all, they are heartwarming stories but you are left craving to know more about the characters, their relationships, how they truly felt and to be part of their life-challenges a bit more.
Marny Meyer reached out to me and asked if I would like to share my opinion about the book, and I was happy to help.
Personally, this is not of my taste. I am not so much into love stories, and I was honestly unable to relate to any of the stories. However, each story was different and had many ups and downs for each character.
I felt that the meaning may have been lost in the translation or otherwise, I am not sure. The sentence structures at some parts were a bit silly and transitions from scene to scene were not so smooth. More character and story descriptions would have been great.
Overall, I would give a thumbs up for the effort of the author and I believe that she can write many beautiful stories.
Unmistakable Inseparable: Ten German Love Stories tells the stories of 10 couples that went through the trials and tribulations of love only to find the one that made those challenges worth it. All ten stories had a very similar theme in which one or both of the individuals were not looking for love, but ended up falling head over heels. These short stories acknowledge that life and love are not just full of romance, but of challenges that shape our relationships and make stronger couples.
I liked that Meyer highlighted all types of couples and various backgrounds. Some of the stories were a bit redundant, but definitely drove the message home that love can be messy, but also beautiful.
These are collections of 10 German love stories reiterating and exploring the different aspects of love. Who doesn’t want a good ending, right? You can’t just hope for happy ending, you just have to believe in them, the do the work and take a risk. That is what this book is telling to each and everyone who reads it. I don’t read a lot of short stories, since I need more details about the characters and the people around them but if you want a light read and want to escape from high fantasy, this book is for you. I want to thank Marny Meyer for providing me a copy of this book for an honest review
"Unmistakable Inseparable Ten German Love Stories" - is a collection of ten romantic stories that converge mainly on youngsters. The stories are rooted in Germany and each story portrays a unique scenery of conflict and drama, knitted in the blanket of love. What caught my attention is the showcasing of some strong female characters in the stories. Amongst all the stories, my favorite is the second one, named - "Hoping for the right words". The story sheds light upon the life of a girl named Sanja, who falls in love with a guy Lars. She meets him for the first time in a festival and despite both of them being in different relationships, they grow attracted to each other. The meeting ends with Sanja and Lars making love to each other and a proposal to continue it further. But things don't go well for them and as the story unfolds, soon conflicts arise in Sanja's life leading to a series of dramas and finally, she gets rid of all relationship related ideas. Instead, she decides to be more focused on her life rather than seeking happiness in someone else's shoulder. Like Ed Sheeran's song "People fall in love in mysterious ways", Sanja too finds her love in the form of Alex who helps her make peace with her trauma and leads her into sharing a joyful life with him.
⭐⭐⭐💫 There are so many ways that people fall in love, different seasons and scenarios. This book is full of short love stories that will lighten the mood and leave you happy. If you need a break between reads, and enjoy short stories, this is a good one to do that with.
I appreciate the author providing me a copy of her book for an honest review.
Ich hatte die Ehre, im Rahmen der Buchverlosung ein E-Book zu gewinnen. Und was soll ich sagen? Es war wirklich wunderschön und leicht zu lesen. Vor allem der Aspekt, dass es sich um wahre Geschichten handelt, hat an der ein oder anderen Stelle das Herz zum schmelzen gebracht.
Wirklich schöne Geschichten wo man direkt Lust auf die Liebe bekommt! Dankeschön für die tolle Erfahrung!
Eine Lektüre, mal weg von Fiktion. Dieses Buch erzählt von 10 echten Liebesgeschichten, mit ihren Höhen und Tiefen. Kleinen Freuden und Dramen. Ecken und Kanten. Für Fans von realistischen, wahren Geschichten.
I was really honored when Marny Meyer asked me to read her book! I don’t usually read short stories so this was kind of new to me. Sometimes I did want to know more about the people in the stories because you didn’t get all the details. The stories were so interesting, so I would like to know more about their lives! What happened to their family? What happened in those years we didn’t get to see? Etc. But on the other hand it had a kind of charm to it to just know a little about those people and still feel connected to them! I love how the stories were all true, I kept forgetting this really happened to people, but the fact that it’s all real makes it so much more beautiful!
At the beginning you see two point of views and know they’ll get together in the end, but that makes it even more exciting to eventually see how they make their way to each other and how they will meet. It’s so beautiful to follow their path to love. Every one of these stories was so interesting and each one so different from the last one. I loved the variety and the adorable couples. This book also showed the less exciting parts of love and I really liked that, it made it more real. It showed the ups and downs from love. The writer captured the love stories really good in such a short amount of pages and I really applaud that!
“Life was too short to waste on things you didn’t want from the bottom of your heart”
“Only time understands how important love is in life”
Unmistakable Inseparable it’s a collection of short romance stories of ten german couples. The reader is presented with stories about normal couples without the exaggeration we know in the media. The writing is simple and sweet words are used, despite some errors. In these stories, the reader gets to know the different obstacles these couples must overcome to strengthen their relationship.
Since there are short stories, there’s no character development and sometimes gives the sensation of being told in a rushed way. Not exactly my style of reading but I recommend it for those that like happy stories that show the true sides of love.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, thanks to the writer Marny Meyer who was kind to send me this book.
In „Unverkennbar Unzertrennbar“ gibt es zehn relativ kurz gehaltene Liebesgeschichten die auf einer wahren Ereignissen beruhen. 10 verschiedene Geschichte wie sich Menschen kennen und lieben gelernt haben. Wie sie zusammen schlimme Zeiten ; negative Situationen überstanden haben. 10 Geschichten in denen sich Paare ihr Leben nicht mehr ohne den anderen vorstellen können.
Mit am schönsten fande ich die Geschichte von Johannes und Fabienne. Die beiden haben sich, in einer für beiden schweren Situation kennengelernt und haben (ich denke auch dem Fakt geschuldet das es ihnen beiden nicht gut geht) den anderen genau so akzeptiert wie er ist und haben trotz der nicht allzu schönen Umstände zu einander gefunden. Ein Satz ist mir dabei besonders im Gedächtnis geblieben: „Liebe bedeutet zu Hause angekommen zu sein“. Ich finde dieser Satz beschreibt die Gefühle die man hat, wenn man abends zu seinem Liebsten nach Hause kommt ziemlich gut :) Man sollte sich bei seinem Partner einfach sicher und aufgehoben fühlen :)
Mir haben die 10 wirklich verschiedenen Liebesgeschichten echt gut gefallen :) Ich bin gut, mit dem zwischendurch perspektiv wechselnden Schreibstil klar gekommen und die Geschichten ließen sich flüssig und leicht lesen. Da es sich um kurze Liebesgeschichten handelt, habe ich keine detailiierten Beschreibungen und Gefühlsbekundungen erwartet. Ich finde aber trotzdem ist die Gefühlswelt der Protagonisten nicht zu kurz gekommen und ich konnte mich sehr gut in sie und ihr inneres reinversetzen.
Wer Lust auf ein paar kurze, wirklich schön geschriebene Geschichten hat, ist bei „Unverkennbar Unzertrennbar“ genau richtig :)
I was given a copy by the author a few months ago. I have finally got round to a review. My apologies Marny for the delay.
It really is a beautiful book, with its lovely cover design, and romantic stories, packed in. There are ten stories altogether and each one, I am informed, is based on true life situations. The stories are very different from each other, giving you a fresh curiosity as you start each one. They are stories of everyday life, obstacles anyone of us could come up against.
I enjoyed following all ten stories and was intrigued to see how things panned out for the characters. The book was very inclusive, which I love.
Unfortunately I did find the writing a bit distracting, it could do with a few good editing sessions and maybe some mentoring or professional help with the writing, specifically. It could however be the translation as mine was in English, the original is in German. A bit more showing of the action, rather than a summary of narrative would improve this book.
Thank you Marny for giving me the opportunity to read your book. I wish you lots of luck with it.
I just finished the book of these 10 short stories and I have to say that the author did a really good job. I love that the stories are based on true stories as it makes it even easier to relate to the characters in the book. Even though I didn't like all of the stories the same, I quickly found my favorites and I think readers will enjoy getting to know different characters and their backgrounds. I personally could relate to some of the happenings of the stories. My grandpa passed away from cancer and so the feelings the people in the book felt, are feelings I have felt before too. I also loved that some of the stories were set in cities and areas not far from where I grew up. It is always nice when you read a book and know the places mentioned.
I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review. This book is typically not a genre I stick to, but I found myself appreciating this book for what it was.
It retells true love stories from people of all walks of life. I found myself really enjoying the "We Were Right!" storyline a lot. The inclusion of same sex couples was great!
I realize these were true stories, but I personally think that the stories could've been fleshed out a bit more to really bring their stories to life. While I do think there's room to improve, there's defintely something solid here for this genre.
Love comes in all forms, and I feel this is an interesting concept that should be explored more.
