I get that question a lot. It’s fair—weirdness and nutjobs cling to Tarpon Cove like seagrass in a tangle of mangrove roots. And a dead body found near The Cottages is an excuse to line up the lawn chairs, pass the margaritas, and indulge in the Cove’s favorite pastime—speculation.
But this time trouble has followed me home. My own husband—Creole. They said the head injury he suffered when he was kidnapped might change him. Getting him back won’t be as easy as partnering up with Fab to find a purloined pooch or repo a not-exactly-stolen car.
What am I saying? Somehow the simplest jobs wind up going south in a hurry. Sometimes the easy answer is the right one.
Deborah Brown is the author of the Paradise series, Crazy, Deception and Trouble Florida Keys mysteries, which makes the reader laugh, cry and cheer...
My personal ad would read:
There's nothing a new pair of shoes can't cure.
Redhead. Long legs. There's nothing like a strawberry-lemonade in summer. Favorite activity: Filling my pockets with seashells. An avid rule follower when eating Animal Cookies: Broken ones get eaten first, match up the rest, duplicates next, line them up favorite to not, least favorite go first. South Florida is my home, with my ungrateful rescue cats, and where Mother Nature takes out her bad attitude in the form of hurricanes.
This continues to be one of my favorite series ever, and this installment was so good. A bit of editing mishaps but nothing drastic. I know this one just came out recently, but I'll still hope for the next one to come out very quickly.
Creole is not himself since being held captive. Madison is blaming it on his brain injury, but he is getting more and more out of control. New murders at the Cottages, have Mack and Rude thinking they are PI's and causing all kinds of trouble. Fab and Mad are still up to their necks in cases that go wrong. Another great book in this wonderful series.
I devour these books. The girls just cannot stay out of trouble. The cast of quirky characters found only in Florida make the side stories entertaining. My only disappointment is the lack of proofreading though it has gotten better in the latest installments of this series. This book referred to a new security business as securities which word is used to describe a financial firm. A typo using causalties for casualties and another as interrupted for interpreted. While these errors do not detract from the book, it interrupts the flow of words while I am reading.
Heart-Wrenching Drama This book is part of a series that would be best enjoyed if read in order. The story is set in South Florida and revolves around two PI-type women, plus their families and friends. This episode has many investigations going on. It is emotionally traumatic and difficult to put down. I have been binge-reading the series and am not even close to being tired of it. Each book is a complete mystery (or set of them). There are not any cliffhangers on the mystery side. On the interpersonal relationship side, sometimes.
The story takes up pretty much where book 20 ended. But it takes a turn that I never expected. The husbands are kidnapped. Madisen and Fab investigate. They finally get a clue about what is happening. The hubs are found. But Creole has a head injury that has affected his memory somewhat. Things take a crazy turn down I path I never expected. Sometimes you can plainly see the mystery winding up. But this book had me stumped. I love it.
I love how Brown develops her characters throughout the series so you never feel like you're reading the same story twice. I was seriously feeling down for the first part of the book. And I couldn't put it down because I knew there had to be a twist. I wasn't disappointed! This was another great book! I love the characters and the storyline and oh my gosh the dialogue had me laughing out loud!
Book 21 of the series is fabulous. You might need to get a box of Kleenex out for this book. Deborah Brown took this book and totally turned it around until you are sad, angry, laughing, and as going to hug all the characters. This is one of those series you hate to see end.
I don't want to give away the soap opera twist this book took, but I have mixed feelings. I was heart broken during part of this book. I stopped reading a different favorite series because I didn't like the feeling part of this book elicited. We get the HFN ending the other books have. But not all of everything is resolved with what happened.
Personality changes after a head injury. Bizarre behavior. Madison is not liking it! She is perplexed. Who can she trust to talk to. She is enduring so much it's overwhelming and scary. Did not see the reason coming, good writing on the author's skills and creativity.
Cannot say enough about this series. This one had me disheartened until we find the secret. We just knew it couldn’t be true. I love the setting, the characters, the storyline....each building on the last. They are wonderful books. Author is amazing.
This book, one in a series by Deborah Brown, is an excellent read. It has lots of action and great dialog. I recommend reading the series starting with book one.
I have read the first 21 books in this series. This one is in the top 3 for best so far. Do yourself a favour and start at the beginning. Very entertaining and addictive.
Wow! Will Madison marriage get back on track and will Creole’s injury heal? Can Mac and Rude be the new Madison and Fab in the Cove....only time will tell.
I read this book in one evening, it was too good to put down. It almost broke my heart several times and completely fooled me. You will have to read it to understand.
