A week ago, the nation crumbled under a mysterious cyber-attack that crippled the power grid, took out communications, killed thousands and forced Alex Reid and his ex to flee across a lawless country in search of their daughter.
A second wave of attacks are unleashed.
After blowing a tire on the outskirts of Denver, Alex and the survivors find themselves trapped in a ruined city overrun with autonomous killer drones. But when a chance encounter with a feisty, thirteen-year-old promises safe passage out of the city, they soon find themselves in danger from a secretive group who know far more about the event than they’re letting on.
Every attack has its consequences.
Still reeling from the Petaluma siege, Elisha and Garcia leave behind the city and retreat to the small northern town of Willits, California in search of safety, however, safety is far from what they discover.
As Our World Falls is book two in the Cyber Apocalypse series, a post-apocalyptic survival thriller that follows a husband and wife as they fight to stay alive after an unknown attacker destroys the country and power supply.

This is a very good addition to the series. I flew through this one and it picks up right where the first book leaves off. I think my only criticism is that I wish it was longer. It is a shorter second book but nonetheless was very good. Our characters are thrown into some pretty wild and unique situations. I am enjoying following them through this adventure and across the country. I cannot wait to see what kind of trouble they get into next. I love the integration of gangs in this book as well. It adds a very unique flair to the problems that arise in this book. I am no stranger to Kevin pierce his work as a narrator. He was fantastic as always and really gives attention to those things that require it. Every character has a unique voice and it was just overall very enjoyable to listen to this audiobook. I received a free copy of this audiobook from audiobook boom in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected my opinion of this work.
After Sophie and her foster son Ryan rescued Alex from a watery grave it was on to California to find their daughter. They run across a couple of Alex’s old friends, spending a bit of time at the friend’s grandfather’s store, becoming involved in grandpa’s family issues. Later, Alex and the crew spend the remaining time at a ranch commune with a definite cultish feel. Finally getting a bit of action, we’re invited to The Battle for El Dorado! Meanwhile, in California, Alicia is trapped in a collapsed building with a new acquaintance Liam. Afterward, they head to Liam’s home, receiving a particularly unfriendly welcome. Garcia is near, keeping a protective eye on Alicia and the other eye on his gang issues. Maybe someday all these folks will come together to reach some sort of conclusion. Volume three perhaps? Three.point.five for potential togetherness. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I was hopeful that this book would improve from the first but found it disappointing. The Denver group scenario was a little over the top and I found it not credible that Alex etc would simply give up their weapons to strangers and then don the cult robes. After all they had been through, I just can't see that happening. I found the California group a bit more interesting though the gangland plot was wearing a bit thin. I was really floored by the ending which seemed to have a very, very fast wrap up in literally a few paragraphs. It was such an abrupt ending that I thought this was going to just be a 2 book series...until I saw the advert for the 3rd. I have no idea where this story is going.
I am a big fan of this author having read 15 of his books so far. I gave book 1 in the Cyber Apocalyse (this series) a 5* rating and I couldn't wait to start book 2. However, I am giving this title (book 2) 3* - I struggled to finish this book and debated whether I wanted to more than once. For me, the problem in book 2 was to many new characters and what I would call 2 parallel stories going on all at the same time and it just became confusing and difficult to keep track of who was doing what to who. I did finish the book however.
I certainly wasn't expecting the crazy turn of events some of the characters had and am sooo glad the inevitable reunion didn't get dug out further I was worried there for awhile. And what about Ryan?! Not wanting to add spoilers let me just say this is an enjoyable series that doesn't leave me feeling depressed like most PA series I've read. Worth your time for sure.
Alex and Sofia continue their trek to California, and their daughter, but still have the arguments they've had since their son's death. When Alex turns out to be right at the Guru's compounded, Sofia seems to be more inclined to start afresh with Alex. Time will tell.
This action of the saga, fast paced though it is, seems more like a bridge tale ...
I'll reserve judgment until I read the last book of the adventures of this "apocalypse light" saga. It is proving to have some neat segues and some handled with a bit less finesse. All in all not a bad read though. Now just read it and decide for yourself. 😷.
Jack Hunt has done it again. It's not often I find books that pull me in, captivate me and have reading them instide a week. Yet that is precisely what all of the books I've read by him do. I find myself unable to pull away. This is awesome post apocalyptic reading. I'd recommend it to anyone.
Again I find myself i.pressed at the way that Jack Hunt's characters defy expectations. They respond more like real people, not always doing the right thing and sometimes proving to be gullible. I also appreciate that the novel doesn't stay with only one character's viewpoint providing the reader with more of a bird's eye view of the story.
Always grateful when an author can show a different perspective on the apocalypse story, which Mr. Hunt has accomplished. The story moves at a fairly quick pace and kept my interest even when he jumped back and forth to different characters. He also didn’t make the majority of people into crazies. Appreciated!
I like the story and most of the characters. But, Elisha is in the Coast Guard, she would have received firearms instruction during basic training! It ticks me off that she’s portrayed as completely unfamiliar with firearms. Other than that, it’s pretty close to a possible reality.
An estranged couple struggle in their journey cross-country in a valiant attempt to reach their daughter in California, their trip cut short by deadly drones and a charismatic cult leader. Meanwhile, their daughter is caught up in the midst of gang warfare. Will they ever unite?
Love the series, characters are unique. Can’t wait to see what’s happening next. Nothing like the love of family. With all the unrest with our country it’s scary.
I am hooked!!! That is saying a lot! The series and especially book 2, haven't read 3 yet has cost me sleep..." ok, just a little more...." Jack Hunt is entering the Clancy Zone in my opinion
Action packed second leg of the saga. I was kinda disappointed with the ending at the ranch or I would have given it 5 stars. I think all in all a fun saga during these stay at home days.
The only thing I would suggest is a bit more diversity. More African Americans in a positive role. Other than that it was all good. Maybe a bit more intimacy between the lead characters? No one has sex? Just a thought.
This book reads well and keeps one reading page after page. Some of the adventure are similar as other books. I will refer this book to friends and continue future books by this author.
Its a downhill ski slope fast ride of a story. Very fast paced and danger is everywhere....loving the characters more and more and so looking forward to the next book in the series. Keeping this short so I can go dive into #3.
Solid writing, good story, some surprises and pleased with how the author approached this with a different terrorist attack. I will continue reading as I enjoy apocalypse stories but was burned out on zombies.
I read dystopian novels for the escapes, the excitement, and even more for the survival skills and abilities sandwiched between the escapes. The author provides a satisfying read, interesting characters, and I 'm moving on to book 3 with anticipation.
For fans of apocalypse themes this is a good read. There is an entirely new reason for the apocalypse but believable especially in light of all the hacking we have experienced lately.

Well written and adventure filled. Mr. Hunt fills the book with a spirit of comradery that is shared within the community and is needed to ride out the storm. Thanks Mr. Hunt!
Interesting storyline with a few twists to keep the reader guessing. Very annoying characters, Sophie and Alex, they argue like children not middle aged adults.
First two books have been page turners. Can't wait to read the next one. The character development is strong and not too much prepper/military mumbo-jumbo.
