A raw and honest account of a man who doubted the western medical system and beat cancer on his own terms. Through fasting, injection of B17 and other eastern practices (breathwork, meditation, pain release massage etc.)

Also includes an incredibly raw and gripping account of his descent into brief insanity after dipping dangerously low on electrolytes.

Lots of interesting takeaways. I feel grateful for the human experience and for another signpost on my path to God.

This man is a prophet, taken from us way too soon. This book is brilliant. Read it.

Basic Summary
This book talks about how Stefan was diagnosed with cancer. This caused him to look back through his life & he realized that he was lacking connection & love. He is a self proclaimed womanizer & is shut off from emotional attachment. He went through some rough stuff mentally when he was diagnosed with cancer (depression). Ended up taking B17 (an illegal drug) that he injected himself. Also, went on a 45 day water fast to try & kill the cancer. Even though his doctor told if that he would die if he did that. He lived & found God in the process

Meaningful quotes (Highlighted Passages)
- “communist until you get rich, feminist until you get married, atheist until the plane starts to crash”
- “man is man, God is God. Man can only imitate God but never become God”
- “for when wisted into darkness, we will find that the darkness itself was the thing we were afraid of, & inside the blackness, there is nothing but our own soul reflecting back at us”
- “Man can feed his mind synthetically through books he reads & teachings from others”
- “most doctors won’t recommend chemo to their own wives as they know it doesn’t work, but they sell it anyway”

Some notes in the book I took
- when you are at your highs others follow when you are at you lows you are all alone
- the only people to really count on is blood family

Overall
This was a solid book. Definitely liked the original hard times create strong men better. I am not sure if I would reread.

Waste of time and money.

This guy is just selling his own lazy ramblings! His books go no where. Like trying to teach a pig to sing. It waists you're time and annoys the pig? Spend your money else where. A painful reading experience!

First of all RIP Stefan Aarnio, he was a great writer and businessman. Secondly, this book was amazing. This book has Stefan reflect on his many regrets in life in the face of death. The vulnerability throughout this book and the realness of it all is what made me love this book.
