It's not what you do, it's how you think about what you do.
A must-have resource for any educator working toward student achievement at ever-higher levels, 10 Mindframes for Leaders: The VISIBLE LEARNING(R) Approach to School Successbrings the mindframes of ten world-renowned educators to life. Each chapter, written by a different thought leader, details a mindframe at the heart of successful school leadership. It includes:
- The most current, up-to-date findings from the Visible Learning research, including the factors from Visible Learning that support each mindframe
- Practical ideas for leaders to implement high-impact strategies in classrooms and schools
- Resources to help educators clarify and refine their own mindframes
John Allan Clinton Hattie ONZM (born 1950) was born in Timaru, New Zealand, and has been a professor of education and director of the Melbourne Education Research Institute at the University of Melbourne, Australia, since March 2011. He was previously professor of education at the University of Auckland.
For anyone familiar with Hattie's work and Visible Learning (R) then there is nothing new here. What it is though is a thought-provoking, succinct summary of the key ideas of VL related to school leadership. On that level alone it is worth reading.
Reading this book for a college class on leadership. Like all books in this genre there are some golden nuggets to take away, and other things that were just eh.
