Didn't really wow me, though I could see some kids enjoying the Wonka-esque chocolate egg factory and my youngest enjoyed trying to spot the hidden Easter eggs in some of the illustrations.

I'm not typically a huge fan of Easter-themed books. Despite the title this one focuses less on the holiday itself and more on the adventure the kids have as they explore the tradition of bunnies & chocolate in spring.

The artwork is the real jewel of this title, though. Randall uses a spectrum of bright, cheery colors that evoke feelings of spring, without the cliched use of a strictly pastel palette. The folksy style conveys the happy spirit of the text. It was a joy to read!

Four children go on an outdoor adventure tracking down the Easter Bunny's eggs until they find a cave of bunnies and a secular meaning of Easter: appreciating new life in the springtime.

Yeah, sure, it's an Easter book. But the illustrations are bold and inviting to listeners, the rhyming text is short and bouncy, and a secular explanation for Easter is a delightful addition to the shelves.

Easter books for kids are generally terrible. I would typically rate this book at 3.5-4 stars, but since it pulled off "not a terrible Easter book" I'll give it an extra bonus.

This book is not memorable, but it is a sweet and cute Easter read. I appreciate the nod to appreciating new life as a way to add some meaning/depth to a non-faith based Easter book, and the illustrations and beautiful. My daughter loved this book, and we have read it many times since checking it out from the library!
