A great official guidebook!

This is a wonderful book of some 92 each 9x12 inch pages (includes front and back covers) taking one on a beautiful and memorable photographic tour of the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia. A founding member of the Museum and a visitor in its very early days, I thought I should finally get my own copy of the guidebook, and it’s great! Here’s how the Museum describes it:

“Located in the heart of Philadelphia’s historic district, the Museum of the American Revolution inspires curiosity about the American Revolution and the Revolutionary generation. This official commemorative guide includes historic artifacts and art, a detailed timeline, fascinating facts, brief biographies, and compelling quotes. With colorful images and engaging text, the book captures both the famous and the lesser-known stories of the American Revolution. By Museum of the American Revolution: 92 pages.”

Also in the book is how the Museum describes itself:

“Opened on April 19, 2017, the Museum of the American Revolution explores the dramatic, surprising story of the American Revolution through its rich collection of Revolutionary-era weapons, personal items, documents, and works of art. Immersive galleries, powerful theater experiences, and interactive digital elements bring to life the diverse array of people that created a new nation against incredible odds. Visitors gain a deeper appreciation for how this nation came to be and feel inspired to consider their role in the ongoing promise of the American Revolution. Located just steps away from Independence Hall, the Museum serves as a portal to the region’s many Revolutionary sites, sparking interest, providing context, and encouraging exploration.

“This book is dedicated to our founding chairman, Gerry Lenfest, and his wife, Marguerite. The Museum’s building, named in their honor, would not exist were it not for their dedicated generosity and Gerry’s steadfast leadership.”

Again, a great book!

Is it an exciting page turner? Not really. But the book is a good representation of the museum we visited 3 years ago in Philly, particularly its pages on Washington’s tent, which Tim is still mesmerized by.
