Royals #1

Mr. Baby Maker

Rate this book
Brody Harrington is more than a rich, powerful CEO.

He’s a prince. As in heir-to-the-throne-of-a-foreign-country prince.

Only he conveniently kept that part of him a secret when we first met. For a reason.

The passion between us was one I couldn’t deny. We tumbled into a hot hook-up that tasted like the beginning of something beautiful. Every kiss made me feel like my curves were made just for him.

He said that he wanted to win my heart, and claim my body.

He got both.

I gave myself to him, but only for a night.

And he gave me a gift to remember him by.

However, the stakes are high. Nobody can know about the baby growing inside me. Especially my baby daddy.

Author’s note: This story takes place in Sierran, a fictional island country in the Atlantic Ocean. Come take a vacation in this land of salty ocean breeze, warm sunshine and happily ever after’s.

I am pretty new to this author but I am enjoying her writing style and this book was a great short read. I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Violet is a science teacher and was trying to escape a very uninteresting conversation with a man when she meets Brody for the first time, she spots him immediately his presence seems to command attention straight away so when he approaches her she couldn’t be happier. They spent a magical night together but when the morning comes she gets a nasty shock when she discovers that he has to marry to get his inheritance. Was everything that they shared a lie or could they possibly have found a real love and is she brave enough to take a risk and find out?

Brody was shocked when he learned that he needed to marry to gain his inheritance, as crown Prince of Sierran he is aware of the restrictions he is faced with but this he never expected. Needing to escape the trappings of his life he finds himself in America in a bar when he spots Violet, she is perfect for him and the night that they spend together shows him that he has found his match but when morning comes around and she discovers the truth can he prove to her that what they shared means so much more to him than any cron or any inheritance?

Enjoyable read and I loved how she was no shrinking violet and Brody was the perfect amount of possessive alpha male. I am really looking forward to Victoria’s story though. 4* Read.

The couple: Brody and Violet

Romance genre: insta-love
Part of a series: Yes (Royals)
Length: 93 pages

Plot: Brody is heir to the throne of a fictional country, and in order to access that throne and keep his place in the family business (not royalty, an actual business), he has to marry within the year. He's not really happy with this, as he has nobody in mind. He's upset and he leaves, traveling to America. While out that first night, he meets Violet (saves her from a creep), a middle school science teacher. He's smitten and knows she's the one. But he has secrets and Violet doesn't like that. Can they overcome her hurt over his deception?

Character development: I'll be honest - I didn't feel like his first deception was that bad. I mean, they hadn't known each other long and he hadn't really had time to tell her everything yet. I didn't feel like his second deception was that bad either - so he hadn't told her everything about his family. I'm still telling my husband new things about my family after nearly 28 years together. The only important thing for the second secret is that he should have been aware of keeping her safe. Mind you, she was fussing at him for keeping secrets when she herself was secretly pregnant!

Would I read more from this author/in this series: Yes!

I'm giving this book 4 stars but there were parts I didn't like as much so I'm on the fence about the rating I would have given it a 3.4 rating if Amazon allowed it. My issues were about the plot there first sex scene was in and ally which was weird he treats her like she's all precious then calls her dirty sex names which wouldn't have bothered me if this had been some biker romance book. Also there's a plot that's added toward the end that threw me and its left un resolved the book had a nice start for the most part but it just iritated me by the end I mean were is this beach she's on in some of the book then there's Seirran the Princes home its location is vague and there seemed to be 3 different plots at once going on. The relationship between Brody and his sister was great but the rest of his family is aloof.

Brody a prince has been given and ultimatum get married or loose the company he runs and his crown so he disappears then meets Violet a teacher at a hotel they spend time together have a falling out then she finds out a secret that she keeps from Brody till later. Brody has his sisters help in winning Violet back but everything is not happy and cheery in Sierran there's the parents that object a sister with a hopeless romantic situation and murder but thats all I will reveal. Several things going on here including Brody's interfering father and his match making schemes. Its not a bad book it just had a scattered plot for such a small read the plot needed more time to develop which a full length book would have provided. But this is my personal opinion only.

I was allowed to read and advance copy via booksprout and this is my honest review .

This book tells the story between Brody, a prince and CEO, and Violet, a biology teacher. The plotWas really confusing for me since they have a lot of challenges to face and several communication problems but they only have three of four dialogues throughout the book and they still manage to sort everything out.

I liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable. It's not a cliffhanger, but there are some questions that I'm hoping will get answered in the next book. The characters were interesting and relatable (for the most part). I think Cassandra and the King are up to something, but maybe that's just me!

Brody Harrington is gorgeous. He’s a rich, powerful CEO and a prince. Brody needs a wife and has been given a deadline to find her. He decides that he needs to get away for a while, so he leaves his country and travels to America.

Violet Vera is a middle school teacher. When Brody walks into the hotel bar where she is, everyone (including her) notices him. Violet can feel his presence even from across the bar. When their eyes meet, the connection is undeniable. Violet and Brody have one passionate night together where he makes her feel like they were made for each other. The next morning she finds out that he kept a pretty big secret from her.

Brody left Violet with not just a broken heart, but a piece of himself. He is determined to win her back no matter what. Violet knows that if he finds out about the baby he will fight even harder.

I wanted to smack Violet several times. She was so upset, but she didn't even let Brody explain. It's not like they had been dating for a while and then she found out his secret, they'd known each other for a brief period of time. Brody was awesome. I will keep him as my book boyfriend. He did all of the work to be with Violet. I liked the way the story ended, but I do wish there was an epilogue further out. I understand why there isn't since that would probably cause spoilers for the next book, but still! I recommend reading this book.

Brody is a rich and powerful CEO however he has been given a deadline to find a wife when his grandmother dies. If he doesn't follow through he loses everything. Violet and a middle school teacher that uses her summer vacation to go to conferences to learn things for her class. However she can't seem to get away from this one guy until a sexy stranger helps her out. Brody sees Violet from across the room and is immediately drawn to her. so he goes over to help her escape the annoying man. They have an instant connection and spend the evening together talking. They end up back in his room where they share an amazing night together. Yet the next morning she stumbles upon something and thinks that Brody is just using her. Will Brody be able to prove to her that she's wrong about him? Can they have a future with them coming from such different backgrounds?

This is an amazing story that will hook you in from the first chapter on. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Brody is prince and has just been given an ultimatum. He leaves his country and goes to America. Violet is a science teacher and she loves science. She was at the same hotel as Brody. There is instant attraction. They have a date and enjoy the night. The next day, at breakfast, Violet reads a letter she shouldn't have and she leaves. Fast forward a couple of months, this is where the story gets really good interesting. Throw in Brody lack of trust, his love for his sister, Violet and his grandmother, a cover-up of a murder, and no leads to find the culprit and you have a book that grabs your attention from the first line to the last line. Good story with good characters.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Brody and Violet. She's a science teacher in a middle school and he is the prince of a European country. He comes to America for a break, after his parents inform him he has to be married to maintain his position. He meets Violet at a bar and it's an instant connection between the two. Unfortunately they face an uphill battle since 1 she's an American and 2 choose a commoner. But true Love Will conquer all. The great HEA in the process.

Not Good

There was nothing cohesive in this story. I couldn't figure out how they could fall in love with each other. Why would a virgin have sex with a stranger like that. Why would a crown prince have unprotected sex with a stranger. To many questions. Why would the contents of the letter she wasn't supposed to read upset her badly. Nothing added up! I can't believe I finished it. But I'm one of those have to get to the end people. It's difficult for me to leave book unfinished.

This was a sweet story. Prince Brody has been given one year to find a wife or forfeit his inheritance and company that he runs. He will still have some money, but lose quite a bit He goes off to America and meets Violet in a bar. He sees her a nd is immediately smitten. They do have a rocky start and middle but an HEA is inevitable. I can't wait for Victoria's story

I really wanted to like this novella, but I just didn’t like Violet. She was just annoying and self-centered in my opinion. Right in the beginning I could tell she was going to be difficult for me to like, she was talking to a man, but when Brody walked in, the man was no longer interesting. Now a person can change their interest but it was literally they way she describe the man in comparison, he was decent enough to converse with, but suddenly he was self-centered man with a belly who couldn’t compare to the Adonis that was Brody; but again, I ignored it the guy wasn’t great so I moved on, but Violet didn’t improve for me.

After knowing each other for only a couple of hours, Violet learns of Brody’s ulterior motives of being in America in a letter (not really sure what the letter said we are never told). It must be stated he actually did tell her the truth, but she thought he was crazy, however since he was hot as well as charming she went out with him anyway. I don’t really understand why Violet exploded at Brody the way she did, they had a fun outing followed by a passionate night, there wasn’t time for a serious conversation. Naturally she didn’t let Brody explain that he was Prince looking for his future Queen in order to become King of his country, but he fell in love with her in those short hours. Violet doesn’t let him say a word and tells him if he ever respected her he would leave and never contact her again. Again they literally met for the first time ever a few hours before, yet she made it sound like he misled her months or years. But Brody being a gentleman, he did as she demanded with a broken heart and went home.

Two months go by and Brody is still heartbroken and his family is concerned about his behavior. He confesses the truth to his sister, Victoria, and they make a plan to win over Violet. Meanwhile, Violet finds out she’s pregnant, which she is totally shocked about because she only had unprotected sex a few times that night when she lost her virginity so it couldn’t be possible (I really couldn’t stand this woman). Then she decided that Brody didn’t deserve to know about the baby because he never contacted her after that night. She really had the audacity to be mad at Brody for not calling her when she demanded him not to, so as punishment he will never know about his child.

She goes home and Brody is there with Victoria and they convince her to come to his country. The irony is that Brody finally gets angry with Violet for treating him so rudely that night, but quickly gets over it because he loves her so much. She decides to not tell him about the baby because she’s not sure about him yet.

Things get even crazier once they get there, Violet just took off days her job as teacher last minute to visit his country. She keep debating whether she wanted him or not as she slept with constantly and fought another woman for him. Then she demanded he give her his secrets if they wanted this work, but when he didn’t answer her the way she wanted, she left…the country without telling him about his baby. The trusted family driver tried to give her some relationship advice that he learned in his loving marriage and she basically told him to shove it. But of course, she started to feel bad once she landed, but Brody was following her anyway so it all ended well.

Victoria is in love with her father’s best friend who is apparently quite an older gentleman and she’s in her early twenties.

The secret is that Brody’s grandmother was murdered, but the murder is unknown.

I just really didn’t like Violet, she really did ruin the book for me. Brody was okay, but he needed more alpha characteristics because it’s fine to see to your woman’s needs, but he overindulged Violet in my opinion.

One steamy short story of the secret baby.

Virgin h, Experienced H
Ordinary h, Royalty H
No contraception, ONS
Safe read, HEA, Instalove
No OM/OW, OW was an arranged marriage partner, but they never together
Bit cliffhanger on some family drama, but it might be concluded on the sequel
Overall score: 4 royal wedding stars

A passionate fairy tale

This novella length story has all the elements of a good fairy tale. The reader has to suspend reason to a degree and not worry about what “normal” people would do. Enjoy the story for the delicious escape that it is.

MR BABY MAKER takes us to the family of a fictional kingdom in the Atlantic where Brody is the Crown Price that must wed before he can inherit his riches and ascend to the throne. He meets Violet unexpectedly on a trip to America and their meeting is passionate.

The novella introduces us to circumstances and people for future stories. It does seem that an overarching theme for all of the stories will be finding out what happened to Grandmother Eleanor.

The editing needs some improvement because there is not always good flow between events in the book. For example, on the day Violet arrives by plane in Sierran, she meets Brody’s family at a meal. A little later that day someone mentions there is a ball that night and Violet has to pick out a dress and start getting ready three hours before the ball. The ball come out of nowhere, but seems to be an important launching point for several of the other stories.

I decided to read this as part of the free romance book day (March 31). The cover almost made me not open it, and I’m wishing that was the case.

Not a single aspect of this story made sense: she teaches science therefore attends conferences?? But the “students” at the end are young kids…I don’t think elementary school teachers attend scientific conferences (she also apparently loves research?? Why was she not a university professor?). Also? One of the kids at the end has a crush on her? The way it was written was kinda gross.

The communication between the main characters also doesn’t make sense - they barely have a conversation yet love each other. He also somehow knew the exact school she teaches at?? There were weird gaps where I was thinking “did they have a conversation behind the scenes that we missed?”

None of the characters had any sort of personality to them. They were so incredibly underdeveloped.

Overall, it was super cheesy.

I wanted to enjoy this book but sadly I did not!!!
Very shallow!!!
For a royal read it lacked the royal aspect, for Brodys grandmother to be murdered yet nobody knows it was murder is ludicrous, the adult granddaughter doesn’t know it was murder yet a girl supposed to marry Brady knows!!!
Brody meets violet after he finds out he needs to marry and produce an heir to gain his inheritance, they have sex and she runs the next morning instead of talking out their issues, she tells him if he cares at all he will respect her wish he leaves her alone.
I found this to be a bit far fetched as they met the evening before so literally hours from meeting each other.
2 mth later she finds out she’s pregnant the same day brody tries to win her back.
Violet was very immature, always running off and then wanting Brody to chase after her, a little confused bias we didn’t get the wedding, we didn’t get the pregnancy or birth so really a pointless half story I’m sad to say.

Nice story. Brody, prince CEO at Harrington Enterprises, is being forced by his Dad to marry in order to retain his job and his inheritence. Vicky, his younger sister keeps her head down, but she supports her brother. He feels the need to leave the family homestead to clear his head. Violet, middle school biology teacher, attending an annual conference. They meet, have a relationship and don't communicate with each other. Brody has a lot of family baggage that complicates a relationship moving forward with Violet. He takes her home, to meet the parents who provide a little resistance. Lots of personal battles everyone needs to go through. Nice story. Prince Brody is a little, weak. Vicky is a rock. I hope to hear more of her story. Violet is great. Characters could use a lot more development and weight. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Hated the heroine.

They get together, the hero tells her who he is, she laughs, finds out the next morning he was serious and runs.
She finds out about this bad thing that happens, confronts him, and then yells at him for keeping things from her and runs. Never mind the fact they were together for like 2 weeks where she knew she was pregnant, and only bothered to tell him as ammo in their fight.
There’s 1 scene where you think she’d run, and out of the blue she has a backbone.
This story tried to be a complex secret royalty, murder intrigue, love story and it fell short on all fronts.

All that aside, I liked the hero and his sister and their sibling relationship.

This is fairly predictable but it did have a few twist in the story. Brody is a prince who meets Violet who is a science teacher staying for a conference at the same hotel where Brody is also staying. They meet have an instant attraction and end up spending the night together for her to find out that he has to marry in order to keep his position as CEO in a company and get his inheritance. She thinks that he only wanted her for his inheritance but he wants her because he really cares. Can he convince Violet that he wants her for just her?

this had so much potential, but didn’t wow me

Oh man I’m so on the fence with this story. I knew going that is was short, like a novella, but it moved so fast there was no time for the characters to come be themselves, be endearing.... It was really wham, bam, thank you mam! It has so much potential, but fell short for me, I’d have loved to see a full length story of Violet and Brody. But it wasn’t to be and that’s ok! If you like a super quick read that does not require much thinking, you like royals saga, and a but if insta-Love, this is a great summer read!

too many plots holes

A science teacher has a one night stand with a prince who desperately needs a wife. Started off great with what truly could be a nice, quick read that I could’ve seen transfer to a fun Prime or Netflix movie (or heck maybe even Hallmark if you drop the one and only spicy scene written into the story). Unfortunately, it quickly unraveled at every seam possible. I fully understand this was a novella, but the number of plot holes, speed which the story’s timeline happens, and completely unrealistic moments made this one painful for me.

Short story but it awesome

This story was well written about a prince and a teacher. It shouldn't have ended where it did. It could have gone on for a lot longer and make the novella a real book.

Besides everything I've already wrote this book was well written. I couldn't put the book down and I wish there was more to the whole story. When it said the end I was kind of disappointed cuz I wanted to read more great book

Violet meets Brodie in a bar and it’s instant attraction. They go to a movie and then back to his hotel. A misunderstanding in the morning separates them until he decides to come back and woo her. She goes to his kingdom and uncovers murder. They have a few more bumps on their way to their HEA.

This second chance, secret baby, book 1 in the Royals Series romance is well-developed, fun, short story with well-crafted characters that have history. The characters are believably constructed and realistic in their reactions. . Will she let him know or disappear and not give him a chance. A good read

When Brody is given an ultimatum by his parents he doesn't take it well. He leaves for a break and sees the most beautiful woman in his hotel and has to get to know her. Violet is pure and lovely through and through, but will his family approve?
