Holt is ten years old. All boys want to do is to have fun and play. His fat has him working on chopping wood. He sneaks off and goes swimming. He is enjoying his stolen moments. When he returns he is shocked to see what happens next. His father is killed and his sisters too. The killer takes his mother and rides away with him fighting all the way. Holt soon runs away and is saved by the Cheyenne people. They take hi. In as one of there own.
Willas step father is a horrible man. She runs into Holt and helps him get medication for his people.
Vengeance is definitely the game here. Holt was 10 years old when he saw his family being murdered. And that is something and someone you never forget. He was taken in by Indians. Now all grown up he’s out for his vengeance...but will he be able to get it ? As the murderer owns so much to include the police. This story makes you wonder how many times this really happened in those days. Sad but captivating with suspense and twists.
As a long time fan, and avid reader of westerns, I have to say this is one of the worst I have ever read. Virtually no action, long drawn out musings , a boy orphaned at 10 , raised by Indians, yet has plenty of cash. Blonde curly hair to his shoulders but is mistaken for an Indian. Rides equipped with a lantern so he can track at night! Really? Won't be reading any more of these books.
The Last Call for Vengeance A Historical Western Adventure Book
This is a great story about Holt a young man that saw his family murdered when he was ten and then raised by the comanche. Then he met Wills and it turned out that her stepfather was the man that killed his family.A good plot, and characters are strong and emotional A very good extended epilogue
As a young boy, Holt had lived in two worlds, the one he was born in to and the one that he lived in with the Indians. Both ways of life served him well. He was a bitter man who felt much had been taken from him. The book is filled with action and human suffering. We have enjoyed the way this author writes as both my hubby and I have read this book.
This is the first book I have read by this author and will not be the last. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a story about Two people who lost their families, finding each other.
It has murder, suspense, intrigue, plotting, stealing, love, romance, and a happy ever after so I am sure you will find a lot about it you like.
This is a book of good over evil and was nice to read a book that told the story of the compassion and good of the Indian people rather than characterizing them as just savages . There is not a lot of violence as is normal but the story and the characters had interesting story lines and you felt like you got to know them.
This is written like an old fashioned western. Men were men, and women were lower on the list than a horse or gun. There were also good Indian tribes and bad tribes. Everything was plausible, but not likely.
Ethan Westfield writes a gentle kind of story with positive outcomes. Although the style is not perfectly to my liking, I'm positive many will think otherwise.
I did not finish reading the book because of the language. The story might have been good if the author had not felt it necessary to put profanity in it.
I have always enjoyed reading western and this was a great book. Was also a good Love story. Also gave interesting information about the Comanche way of living.
