Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
This book was quite exciting. I didn't want to put it down for the last 9 chapters, so I stayed up and read it all night.
I have really come to find extreme similarities between this book and overall series and the Harry Potter series.
Spoilers ahead:
So far we have been introduced to a wonderful world of magic and dragons, coming of age teenagers and a school of magic professors. The children have their familiars, and the main student has chosen a dragon.
In this book we travel to another city during spring break to take place in a Magic Tournament between 3 schools, each sending 5 students. The youngest 2 students to attend the tournament are also first year students. (sounding somewhat familiar?)
During the tournament, there is an attack on the city they are in, as well as the school that sent them. Our first year student and her dragon, along with her "frenemy", who is finally becoming more friend than anything else, play major role in thwarting the attack and kidnapping of the city's governer. By a bigger coincidence, we find out her actions have also stopped a greater plan by raiders.
Now, not only have her 2 best friends who remained at home to watch the tournament saved their school, but the 2 first year students have also saved the city, the kingdom, and, as it turns our, 2 other kingdoms by thwarting the raiders from taking the governers wife.
The professors are Headmaster Flynn, Familiar Trainer Worley, Weapon Trainer Fellows, History Trainer Bixby, and a few others that don't seem to expanded on, Professor Gilliam, Professor Dameron.
They do get introduced to a special War Mage trainer as well, Allessandra Barnasis.
All of these make me think of Harry Potter, as do many of the students and relationships of them.
It is still an awesome story, and after 3 of the 8 books, of course I want very much to keep going. I highly recommend this series to anyone.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
That's Raven Alby, with her Dragon, Leander, of course, and William Moss, Dragon Trainer, and one of her life-long friends, was very right when he said that to her.
But, of course, that was right at the end of this book, and Raven Alby, with her Dragon Familiar, Leander, plus Bella Chase, and her Firedrake Familiar, Wesley, had a huge amount of things to go through, before that end was reached!
This book was utterly riveting, and kept me entertained from start to finish.
So much went on in it, that I'd end up giving too many spoilers, while trying to even give you the highlights to them all!
But, I will say, that both Raven, and the ultra-confident Bella, very much lived up to their possibilities in this one!
So, I will encourage you to buy this series, to read it for yourselves, as it's WELL worth both the time, and money, spent!
But, I guess that's what I've come to expect of ANY Martha Carr-Michael Anderle co-authored experience, especially considering that this book was from early 2020 - the COVID times - where many authors slaved away at their computers, in order to entertain all of us stuck in Lockdown! Lol
I actually spent most of the night reading this story, as I couldn't bear to put it down. Then I fell asleep mid-sentence, and woke up cuddling my Kindle, with my face squashed in it, like I couldn't bear to part with it! Lol
It used to be physical books, that I would end up getting close and personal with, before my daughter gifted me my kindle, so I'm now hugging a whole Library, rather than one book! Lol
As I'm impatient in wanting to get on with this series, I'm now going onwards to my next book, which is, of course, Book Four: ' Warmage: Undeniable', and, once I've finished it, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think about it!
I can't help to love everything about this book and the series. It provides everything I look for when escaping into a book. They are lots of action and grabs you right from the beginning and keeps hold past the end. Yes past the end where the authors notes are like the who cream and cherry on top! I already look forward to hearing about the authors livdand sometimes news of other series they are involved in. I enjoyed this book because I love well written action scenes with the ability to draw me in and described so well i am able to visualise clearly in my mind. Then just when l think l know where the story is headed a plot twist appears that keeps me glued to what's happening and holds me to the end. The character development is right on par with what I've come to expect from this par of authors. Add in the humor and you have the makings of an excellent novel. I highly recommend this book, my favorite of the series so far. But looking forward to the next book in the series that due for release inn May 24 I believe. If you haven't started in the series yet I encourage you to pick up book one. Anybody sold love the snarky Dragon and his rider not to mention done of the other characters. Great job, Martha and Michael! As always, can't wait for the next book of a series but then hate when a series ends. I know, I'm just another demanding reader who expects what would be considered impossible by many authors but does understand this is not the only series readers including myself, are waiting impatiently for the next book. Thanks for your had work. You are truly admired and appreciated!
Carr & Anderle have done it again! This is a wonderful story set in a mesmerizing series. But WTF is the problem with mispelling the word whoa? It doesn't rhyme with noah! It is NOT spelled "woah". If you keep the two consonants together and the two vowels together, you can't go wrong. Please for the love of Webster, go through the series and fix it! And fire your editor. I mean really. It's a 4 letter word. Besides this flagrant abuse of the English language, this book has shades of Harry Potter and is just familiar enough to be comfortable. Loads of fun, an early entry into a "mage tournament" and making Bella her friend. That's the book in a nutshell. 7/10 unicorns 🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄 Send out a spell-fix update & I'll go up. 😉
This series has become a top Read for me. I feel surrounded by old friends!
I can only imagine the awesome feeling you must get riding a Dragon free style. This book does more to make me see and feel this freedom. The action, friendships of all of the growing War Mage's, pull together to make an awesome read. Mike's little comments on the end notes kill me. We don't know if you like it? Unless we get feedback, so here I go. Michael and dear Martha, I love your books. If it has your names at the top I'm going to pre order and buy the book. I don't wait for the $.99 sale because I know for $4.99 I'm getting a great book! Peace guys!
But I do not like Apple. They have marvelous stuff that may be worth the cost. But when they were asked to help with a terrorist phone, they fought it off. I thought, ok they have principles. But then, a plain white man had a phone and Apple rolled over and gave the information to the government as quick as they could. Be consistent, Apple. Being Supportive of terrorism is not a good company value. Now I may be wrong, it's been known to happen. If you know different straighten me out. Thanks
I really am enjoying this series. It's not high art, but that's not the reason for this book. I love Dragon stories. I love a story that focuses on girl power. This book/ series fit the description completely. Con's: the work is sort of fill in the blank in nature. I feel like I know the outcome when I open the book. However, the authors don't pull any punches and that do production line books. They put out about three hundred pages per book and one book per month. It's old time dime store novel fun me. Enjoy!
I really love these books - Leander and Raven are a great match, their bond is strengthening amazingly, and what they can do together is incredible. Bella and Raven are starting to understand each other better instead of fighting each other, and make a great team, realizing it isn't a competition between them but that they each have their own strengths, which complements each other's. I can't wait for book 4!!
Carr does an excellent job with her characters and worldbuilding (and I'm sure that's where a lot of Anderle's help comes in as well). That continues in this entry in the series. Definitely don't start reading the series here, but if you liked the first two, I'm sure you'll enjoy this one as well. In some aspects, I think I liked this one more than the last. Looking forward to the next one!
Wastage: Uncontrolled is my favorite. Raven and Leander have been turning heads and changing the rules...as they go. There's so much about this particular book that I simply loved but my favorite scene was how Raven and Leander made their grand entrance to the mage competition. That was badass!! You'll never know what you've missed if you don't pick up the first one in the series and keep reading... Just. Do. It. Well done!
Raven and Leander are expanding their horizons and depending their mage/familiar bond. More is revealed about the present and past, bringing us more mysteries to be solved as well.
The story is progressing, and becoming more detailed. A great read, and there’s much more waiting in the next book.
Raven and Leander move into the academy... Things only keep getting better for these 2..Raven and Bella both get picked to go to the tournament of mages,as the youngest ones yet... watch what happens when 2 of the youngest mages and their familiars join together...
Love, love Raven and Leander they are so really great characters. So nice that this story added others to the game of helping. Great to allow and see Raven and the gang grow and mature. Not sure about Daniel and will Henry wake up?
Another awesome installment in the Never Ending War series! I just love Raven and all her friends, including Leander. I can't wait to see what happens next!Keep churning out the awesome stories guys!
Raven and Bella finally good! This series gets better with every book unlike others I've read that grow stale quickly. The way Martha always adds characters and complexities to grow a series is freaking excellent! Howard S (the S stands for super)
Raven and Bella Chase reach an understanding. Coexistence has been acknowledged, not necessarily friendship, but Bella is at least willing to work with Raven. A good read and the adventure begins.
I really like where this is going. I could see her revolutionizing dragon training with a dragon mage group. The whole everyone might become magic enabled could be potentially fascinating. Looking forward to more books in this series
This next story in Raven's adventures was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love the way Raven is growing with her relationship with Leander and Bella . I am looking forward to reading the next story.
I love the book but is geared to youngsters and teens. Well done exciting story of dragons and magic. Teen age girl meets dragon and the excitement begins. Read the series!
Loved the book, can't wait for the next one! This one has more action and fun for the whole cast of characters. Plus a competition between mage academies. What more could one ask for?
Well Martha and Michael have done it again. They've written another great book in the War Mage series. This one with actual battles in it. For the main character. Just awesome!
One More GREAT trip to another time & place from the Agile mind of Martha the Magnificent!! Please keep these FANTASMIC flights going. THANK YOU so much for sharing your fantastic thoughts!!
I highly recommend this imaginative book, and the fantastic series in which it is, to all readers who love reading exciting Fantasy suitable for all ages. Enjoy!
Love this series. I love following the awesome characters as they go to school to become mages. The familiar's are awesome too! And did I mention I love dragons and magic?! I absolutely do!!! A great book!
Bella and her over dramtics is giving me whiplash. First she wants to be friendly then she wants to be frienemies. She can't make up her mind what she wants to do. Then when she doesn't want to be left out and they get i to trouble she blames her.
Awesome series this book did not disappoint. Raven and Leander continue their journey through school, learning sometime harsh truths. Could not put the book down, it was fantastic.
