That was nonsensical. Graham wants to see his favourite football (soccer for you Americans) team, West Ham UTD, win the championship cup in the '60s, so the Doctor takes him back, too far back, to the 1890s, where they discover Draconians are using humans to manufacture warships. Then they interrupt that and play football. And then they save the day with a football.
I think. I don't know. I zoned out.
This story feels horribly paced, and the inclusion of the Draconians is not only unnecessary, but they are also out of character. I thought the Draconians were a civil, albeit suppressive race, not warmongers?
If this story had simply focused on Graham fulfilling a childhood dream of meeting his favourite football team, this story would've been much more personal to Graham, and it could've been really emotional. We didn't get that though, we got a fairly poor short story.
What I don't understand, is why most of the stories released during the lockdown have been of fairly high quality, yet most of the Thirteenth Doctor stories have been boring, un-noteworthy, or of surprisingly high quality. It's weird how it's all over the place.
