Kiernan Kelly and Brooks McCarthy were both born into football royalty. And one fateful meeting will change the course of both their lives. Everyone at Cambria University knows that Brooks, the most popular, handsome and talented guy at the school is destined for the National Football League - alone. His father, Rhett, passed on not only his DNA, work ethic and love for the game, but also a set of rules to keep his son unattainable. Kiernan, on the other hand, tries to hide her famous lineage as she dazzles everyone with her skill on the softball field. As the daughter of Hall of Fame quarterback John Kelly, she inherited his athleticism, but not his lust for the spotlight or the public persona he works so hard to protect. She has a plan for her life that does not include falling in love. Love makes you weak. Weak like her mother. But fate has other plans for the stunning athlete. Will Kiernan finally let someone in? Has Brooks finally met the exception to his rules? Do their families really have their best interests at heart? If their love can survive the first year at Cambria University, then it can survive anything.

Wife. Mother. Author. I love a good {bad boy} book boyfriend. Besides my obsession with reading and writing, I'm also addicted to coffee. I run on chaos and caffeine.

The Cambria University Series is COMPLETE and all three books are on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited.

Book 1, Exception, is all about star QB and cock jock, Brooks McCarthy. Book 2, Redemption, follows the story of Donovan Blake, linebacker and all-around bad boy. Book 3, Completion, features lost soul and running back, Jessup Rhodes. All can be read as standalone novels, but the characters are interconnected throughout. Happy reading!

4 STARS!!
"You're it for me."
New author with tons of talent! And, lucky me, she writes exactly my kind of story: deliciously messy, coming of age, new adult romance.

Plot in a nutshell: Brooks McCarthy is happy with his life as the 'big man on campus'. He's the full package - star athlete, charming, confident, hot as hell - and he knows it. He's never met a challenge he couldn't conquer . . . until Kiernan Kelly.
The girl has me tweaked.
Kiernan is an elite athlete in her own right, one who's got just as much going for her as Brooks . . . but she doesn't date.
I am not one to swoon, get trapped in lust-filled thoughts, or even spend time concerning myself with boys. I don't lose my head or my focus.
She has goals and none of them include getting involved with a man who, if not at man-whore status, is close . . .

Oh, you guys, I SO enjoyed the push and pull between these two. Kiernan proving impervious to Brooks' charm left a huge smile on my face. 😍 Then, watching them bend their rules for each other was a joy even when the consequences were heart-wrenching.

Because that's what growing up is all about, right?

Despite the STEEP learning curve, or more probably, because of it, I enjoyed every second of Kiernan and Brooks' journey.
Life is a series of moments. Some of those moments are so impactful that you can pinpoint an exact instant that your life changed.
And the romance? What a swoon-fest!
"She's the most important thing in the world to me. I would give all this up for her in a heartbeat."
Plus, as an added bonus, the author definitely knows her sports. And I appreciated how that knowledge was presented in a way that enhanced the story instead of bogging it down.

So why am I not handing out 5 stars?

I thought perhaps the author took the dual point of view too far. There was just too much overlap in the scenes. Though I sometimes appreciated getting both characters' impressions, I found myself skimming to get to 'new' events. But that's just me.

If you're a fan of sports romances set against the backdrop of college life - with all its homework, BFF's, frat parties, man-whores and jersey chasers - I highly recommend!

I'm off to read book 2...

🌟4 'Rules are meant to be broken' stars🌟

'Exception'
is the first book in the 'Cambria University' series by Sadie T. Williams.

"You're it for me."

Brooks McCarthy is the big man on campus. He's a star athlete 'living the life'. He has everything he wants, 'girls want to be with him and guys want to be him.' He can get any girl he wants so when Kiernan Kelly turns him down, he is perplexed, but he never backs down from a challenge so he starts pursuing her and the more he gets to know about her, the more intrigued he is.

Kiernan Kelly is shy and reserved. She plays softball and is a star-athlete as well. But she has one rule: she doesn't date. She is confused when Brooke approaches her as she isn't 'his kinda girl' and practically runs away. And even though she starts liking him, she doesn't follow through, because of her rules.

I am not one to swoon, get trapped in lust-filled thoughts, or even spend time concerning myself with boys. I don't lose my head or my focus.

I enjoyed this book was so much and couldn't bring myself to put it down. All thanks to Melanie A. who recommended me this book so thank you so much for that hon'💖

The push and pull b/w them was so fun and their conversations always left a stupid grin on my face. Watching these two overcome their fears and bend / break their rules for each other was so much more enjoyable.

The romance was swoon-worthy. Their journey was rocky and very difficult along with a lot of drama but it only made their ending so much sweeter.

Reason it was a 4 star read instead of 5 stars:

The book was beautifully written especially considering that it was her debut novel but the reason it ended up being a 4 star read for me was because I think the duel POV went too far. I mean I really enjoyed knowing both of their feelings in scenes but there was too much of overlapping and I ended up skimming in search of 'new scenes.'

Overall it was a wonderful read. If you're a fan of sports romances with a lot of swooning and high on drama, this book is highly recommended.

my issues with Exception:

-not an original character to be found.

-> if i mashed together the most stereotypical Hot Shit God Among Men Star Athletes I've ever read in all new adult romance, I would still have created a franken-character with more originality than Brooks McCarthy. he's a classic dick-bag, treating women like vaginas on legs, has a list of rules (don't "bag" a woman more than once, don't have sex in your own bed, etc.), then meets a woman who doesn't immediately fall at his feet, naked and ready, FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HIS ENTIRE LIFE, and so immediately falls in love and changes his entire personality. (But all those other women are still hoes, of course.)

->our leading lady, Kiernan Kelly, leans entirely on the exhausted (& heavily dated) tropes of special snowflake-dom: she's clearly classically beautiful/sexy but doesn't know it, she's a virgin because she "she just never found the right guy," she falls for the "reformed" Bad Boy with no evidence he has actually changed his ways one iota, the moment he gives her any attention at all, and she NEVER dresses up or wears makeup because only women desperate to seduce men do that.

-the girl hate is tremendous.

->"We're not like you, you whore bag."
->"She's a jersey chasing come-dumpster."
->"I shouldn't have trusted that ho-bag."

And on and on.

-ATTEMPTED RAPE AS PLOT DEVICE.

->because nearly every woman in this book is Evil, one of Brooks' female acolytes rages with jealousy that he seems to favor Kiernan. In an attempt to...what?... hurt Kiernan? (how in the world does this help her meet her goal of "winning" Brooks?), she fakes a reconciliation with Kiernan and drugs her drink, then convinces one of Brooks' teammates to drag her nearly unconcious body upstairs to a bedroom and rape her. It very nearly happens. BUT THANK THE LORD Brooks makes it in time to save the day.

->in the aftermath, does this lighthearted sports romance swerve into a crime drama as we pursue justice for Keirnan? um no. the woman who organized the crime becomes "a social outcast" and the rest of the football team teach the would-be rapist "a lesson." no arrests, no legal repercussions for RAPISTS. Instead, the whole event acts as a catalyst to bring our main couple together. Rape for drama's sake. Cool, cool.

After that, I just could not read anymore.

I had firmly decided to read this as a "so bad it's good" trashy romance for fun, if not for substance. But at some point, I had to draw a line.

Loved the group of friend and the funny banters

I fell hard for this book! 💙 If you are looking for a great New Adult/Sports Romance/College Romance, I 100% recommend Exception!

The characters in this novel are well written. Sadie writes with so much detail, but it never feels like it’s dragging. She really gets you invested in all characters. I am a HUGE sports fan and I kind of geeked out with all the sports talk!! 😁 I love that Cambria are the Golden Knights! Living in Las Vegas, we have the Golden Knights hockey team, so I got giddy every time they mentioned their team!

This book gave me all the feels. I can’t wait to continue with the Cambria University gang!

Review:

Brooks is a star athlete who loves to be in the limelight and is the man every girl on campus wants to be with. He is bound by few rules by his father that are never meant to be broken for anyone. He never shies away from any challenge and no girl has turned him down except her.

Kiernan is a shy and reserved girl but also an athlete who doesn't like to be in the spotlight. She lives by only one rule, that is she doesn't date. When Kiernan turns Brooks down he takes it as a challenge to pursue her. It's interesting to see how Brooks breaks his rules one by one for her and the more he gets to know her, the more he is falling for her.

The romance and drama are portrayed amazingly in the story. Brooks and Kiernan are great as a couple and the conversations and scenes were enjoyable. Kiernan is very cute and I loved her character. The writing style of the author is brilliant and although the sports part was not for me I did enjoy reading this book.

It would have been a 5 star read for me but I was losing interest with dual POV's where the scenes were repeating which kinda breaks the flow of the story. But apart from that, it was a splendid job for a debut author. If you love sports and romance with a bit of drama then this book is definitely for you.

This book was good but had issues. Kk and mac had great chemistry and the pacing of their interactions was on point. The break up phase was stupid and it was kinda unbelievable she was so lame. I also really didn’t like how the author kept flipping perspectives between the two on the same exact scenes. Most authors alternate perspectives as the story progresses. It felt repetitive and like a waste of time. So good but unlikely a favorite and Mac’s dad was a crazy raging ass. Really didn’t like him.

Such a Sweet Sports Romance

Kiernan "KK" Kelly and Brooks "Mac" McCarthy have possibly the sweetest sports romance I've read in quite a while.
Brooks, a future NFL legacy and current college all-star QB, has rules. Rules that were drilled into him by his NFL MVP father all his life, and they work to keep his head in the game and him in the zone. Rules like don't sleep with a girl in your own bed, always use protection, and never, ever fall in love. And he's never, ever broken a rule. Until her.
KK is a superstar on the softball field in her own right, but she's used to the spotlight as the daughter of another NFL legend herself. KK is well acquainted with three "Fs" in her life - football where her heart lies, fame where her father thrives, and the friend zone where she chooses to firmly plant herself. Until him.
This story was sweet, and there's no other word for it. Kiernan is level headed and authentic, and Brooks is patient and dreamy, and I was rooting for them every step of the way!

If you're looking for a feel-good, steamy sweet sports romance to keep your attention and squeeze your heart, look no further than The Exception!

Keirnan is a tomboy and one of the guys and definitely struggling to cash in that v-card she is carrying around. Brooks is the big man on campus and headed straight to the NFL. So why does this curious, tiny softball tomboy make him want to break all his rules?

I will be perfectly honest - new adult is not really my thing but this might be the exception (yes - pun intended.) There were some intense moments, some moments that made me wince remembering college... and some moments that were searingly sexy. Keirnan had some great energy and really tried to be true to herself and no turn in to someone she can't recognize. Brooks was not a dude I immediately fell for - but omg - worth the wait! I can't wait to dive in to book two!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Read it in One day!!!

I love me a sports romance. This author was new to me and I literally stumbled upon this book and I do not regret it. I loved Brooks and KK, their chemistry was scorching. I loved this new take on the QB romance him falling for the softball girl jock is something new and refreshing that intrigued me to this story.
This has literally been the most entertaining and refreshing sports romance I have read in a long time. I will definitely be checking out more from this author in the future.

New to me Author

I’ve never read one of Sadie’s books until tonight.. Exception was my first. And I don’t know why I waited so long because this book was everything you could want a college friends to lovers romance to be... and not only that but they’re each amazing athletes in their own rights, putting their all into the game and focusing on that end goal.... until a chance meeting in the Uni library changes everything. And I may be biased but the FMC’s father played for the Pats and I’m a huge Pats fan so huge props from me on that!

Love this Book!

I am always looking to fall in love with a story and characters in a book. Sadie T. Williams did not disappoint. From the first few pages when you meet Brooks and Kiernan, I knew I wouldn’t able to put the book down. They are two characters who are real and you can’t help but root for them.

AAA+ Wow!

I don’t usually give reviews. But I felt the need to give one for this book because it’s the authors first published book. The story was great, the characters were amazing but that’s not what caught my attention. It was the Authors ability and descriptions to make you feel like you were there in person. Keirnans games had my adrenaline high. And Brooks games had me out of my chair. I learned a lot about Football and Softball just from the Authors words, as if they were visual. I will definitely follow this Author and read her other books.

Review:
Kiernan: Her father is a legend and he loves his fame. Kiernan is an amazing athlete just like her father but she doesn't like a spotlight.

Brooks: He is one of the best football players in college, he is cocky, loves the spotlight and he will be soon drafted in the NFL.
Brooks lives by his 5 rules so that he does not get distracted and fall in love with someone.

But as soon as he meets Kiernan, she becomes an exception to all his rules.

It's a peachy keen college romance novel. The first of The Cambria University Series by the author. The book has a lot of drama, romance and sports that will make the readers hooked on to the story immediately. The author has delineated the characters and the story wonderfully.

Unfortunately DNF at Only 8% …
Why you might ask when i haven’t given the book half a chance ? Because I started skimming pages already !! That’s a really bad sign for me .
The first few chapters were alternating between his and her perspectives but were repeating the same
Scenes .
Both of them were instantly attracted to eachother which is ok but it’s over detailed about everything .
I like it when an author is able to get the reader to feel and know these things without having to say it . There was also a LOT of detail about the scenery what was placed where in great detail and I found this unnecessary.
DNF at 8% and won’t put a rating

DNF.
The inexperienced, virgin heroine and man-whore hero is overused. I’m sick of books like this! Especially when the heroine is basically panting for the hero, because he’s sooooo gorgeous 🙄 Honestly, as soon as she meets him, you already know it won’t take long for her to sleep with him.

P.S: The heroine slut shams a lot, like her being a virgin makes her better than other girls.

The hero acts like her being a virgin makes her better and less disgusting than others, but he was fine with those girls when he was screwing them before.

Not worth the time

Okay so this story had so many things wrong with it. Lets start with the editing - which was completely terrible and needed major adjustment. Next the storyline drags from boring to unrealistically. I had hope that it would get better since it had a really interesting g start buy somehow in the middle the author started rambling and made the story torturous. The main characters were interesting enough if they had a better background to make their love story interesting. It just wasn't for me. Would I buy another book from this author? Probably not.

DNF at 58%.

Not good. If you have read any new adult romance that was actually pretty good, you will not enjoy this one. I have quite a few bones to pick with this book but first, let's give a breakdown of the book. Mac Brooks is the QB for Cambria University. And he is hot stuff. Every girl basically wants to be with him and every guy wants to be him. Kiernan is a softball player for the same university and somehow Mac and Kiernan haven't crossed paths yet, but when Mac runs into her, he immediately sets his sights on her, despite the rules that he set which prevent him from getting too close with a girl.

That's essentially the premise of the book and it actually felt kind of long and I only made it to the 58% mark. Now let's dive into why I didn't like the book. First of all, it was just plain cringey. It has the whole "you're not like other girls" trope. No literally. Mac actually says this.

"You're just so different. You may be the first girl who has ever actually eaten anything at our place"

And then Kiernan responds with "I'm definitely not like most girls."

WOW. I actually wanted to tear my eyeballs out of my head when I read this. This is just the absolute worst thing I could have read. It's not "cool" to be "different". That's called being a "pick me girl". Shut up, Kiernan. Also, Kiernan simultaneously berates herself for still having her virginity at the ripe old age of like 20? 21? (how embarrassing!) and she also is so rude. She slut-shames right and left, which got SUPER old. I couldn't tell you how many times she did it, but I know at one point she literally says "she's dirty" about a girl.

Also, sorry if this is a spoiler to you, but when Kiernan decides to give Mac her virginity she gives him a keychain of the letter V. ICK. NO. Absolutely not. That is so so so so cringe. If I did that I would hope the guy would immediately break up with me. Hopefully, that would be a wake-up call about how stupid I was acting.

But none of these things is the thing that ultimately let me to DNF the book. It was a ploy by the author to stretch the book for another 42%. Kiernan goes from "I love you Mac and I will never leave you seriously I love you so much" and then after one TINY conversation with his dad she says "yeah we should break up because I know he's just gonna leave me and I'm not good for him and I should just end it before we get more attached." I just didn't have the mental capacity to deal with that idiocy.

So I guess I would definitely not read this book if you want to retain any brain cells you have.

Another DNF

I really liked the plot description and I think it had a lot of potential. But honestly, if I could go less than 1 star I would. The main male lead is nothing if not superficial and the typical playboy. Which I could have easily forgiven as this seems be a theme in many sports romances. The guy is always objectifying girls and engaging in "locker room" talk until he meet "the one".

But he was not alone in his degrading view of women. The main female lead could not go more than a few chapters without slut shaming. If it wasn't the way the other girls dressed, in a way that was described as cheap, it was the way they carried themselves, classifying them as the kind of girls who threw themselves at anyone and shaming them for their sexual exploits.

I could not sit through anymore of it. I got through all of 30 pages before I had had enough.

10 out of 10 DO NOT recommend.
