HELLBOY: THE GOLDEN ARMY is a 16-page comic that details the rise of The Golden Army--the indestructible force that Hellboy and his team in the BPRD fight in Universal Pictures' upcoming action-thriller Hellboy II: The Golden Army, in theaters July 11th. Written by Mike Mignola, from a story by Hellboy II director Guillermo del Toro, the prequel comic features three different collectable covers (Hellboy, Abe and Liz), and will be distributed at conventions and events leading up to the film's release.
The HELLBOY: THE GOLDEN ARMY comic is making its debut at WonderCon at the Moscone Center in San Francisco on February 22-24. A limited number of copies featuring the "Liz" cover will be available.
Guillermo del Toro is a Mexican director mostly known for his acclaimed films Pan's Labyrinth, The Devils Backbone, Crimson Peak and the Hellboy film franchise. His films draw heavily on sources as diverse as weird fiction, fantasy, horror, and war. In 2009, Del Toro released his debut novel, The Strain, co-authored with Chuck Hogan, as the first part of The Strain Trilogy, an apocalyptic horror series featuring vampires. The series continued with The Fall in 2010 and concluded with The Night Eternal in 2011.
Obviously this is from the film continuity but I think it's funny to imagine 1955 hellboy (who in the comics is a fully grown adult with 3 years field experience at the bprd and been in dozen of deadly battles) still requires his dad to read him a bedtime story ever night.
A pesar de que el estilo de ilustración no fue mi favorito, estoy super emocionada de tener conmigo el comic en el que convirtieron la parte introductoria de Hellboy II, mi película favorita de Guillermo del Toro.
An illustrated version of the movie's prologue where Broom reads to Hellboy the story of the golden army. Quite good, but not really necessary. Perhaps a full comic of the movie would be cool.
