She went from designing buildings to crafting stories while living in Texas with her husband, son, their rescue dog, and her five chickens. "Her lips, my lips, had always made perfect sense."

While I've seen Melissa Ellen's name making the rounds on Facebook, I hadn't been able to squeeze her onto my calendar until now. I did have one of her books on my TBR, but the minute I saw Honor, I knew I needed to make time. I'm glad I finally did, because I got to not only introduce a new author to my lineup, but also a new series that I need to follow. New author. New sub-genre. The neat thing is, this was my first mafia book!! Honor was a slow ease into the crime family world. There was a lot more action and suspense with some sweeter elements of a love story that literally beat the odds - and I really enjoyed that aspect. I feel pretty invested in the Leoni family now, so I am definitely rooting for a few more books for some of the characters I met in this one.

"I see. A cocky gentleman."
"Confident. It's only cocky if you can't back it up."

I really liked this book!! It was a super easy read without all the gore and boring details of what that certain kind of life can entail, so I was able to follow along without issue. The story was full of action, but the forbidden aspect was my favorite part. When Mario and Lena were together, you could feel their chemistry. The sparks were evident and the love was sincere. There was just something about Mario, a sort of comfort in knowing he knew exactly what he was doing and that I needn't worry about how he was going to get through any situation. He was always one step ahead of everyone and everything, and that 'confidence' was very sexy. Lena was in tune with him, just as he was with her, but the trust she had with him was very prominent.

"I'm not sure I ever had a chance."
"At what?"
"Not falling in love with you."

Sigh I loved the way he talked to her and how true his feelings were. The way he loved her and cherished her, always aware of her feelings and emotions. It just made their love feel that much more authentic. They were so sweet and so determined to be with each other, so when they had those stolen moments, it was pure bliss on the pages. Mario and Lena had a love...worth loving, and one I couldn't help but root for.

Honor was a quick and easy read; a well told story but without a lot of angst or depth. If there is one thing I would mention - but isn't really a complaint, it would be the lack of depth or heaviness that I would have associated with this kind of subject and/or storyline. It's not bad, and I'm most definitely not complaining - I am just trying to pace it in my own mind as well. Overall, it was a light and easy read, which made for a nice vacation read for me. This book will be a huge hit for people that like an action packed, great love story, with a lighter edge to it. I can and will easily recommend this book. This was a great introduction to Melissa Ellen's writing and I am eagerly anticipating the second book in her Made Series, Burden. I will most definitely be following this series.

"I knew what her lips tasted like, knew what it felt like to kiss her. But every time, my heart raced like it was the fucking very first time."

★5 Stars★

After reading some intense, dark, twisted and mindf--k books, Honor by Melissa Ellen was like a Band-Aid for my wounds. Sweet pure love. Melissa Ellen never fails to deliver the sweetest and purest love stories. I've read all of her books, I've seen her grow and getting better and better as a writer/author. So if you never read a book from her, you should definitely try them...They are AMAZING!

Honor is something new and something else...And is so good. Mafia, suspense, mystery, intrigue, action and of course, love. The writing is so great, it's like you are there with the characters. The main characters are AMAZING, and the secondary characters as well. You fell in love with everybody...Honor is the story of Mario and Lena.

Lena Moretti...Her father is the mafia boss. Mario's father worked for Lena's father. So they grew up together, they knew each other since they were kids. At first, Mario was always teasing Lena, but when they grew up, Lena made the first move. They loved each other very much, but their history is filled with stolen moments. Her life and her future were sealed, they can never be together and free. They both hated Lena's father, but there was nothing they could do.

Mario Leoni...Growing with the mafia, seeing and feeling everything first hand, especially with his own father, Mario wanted a different life for him. He goes to school and after he joins the military. He walked away from the love of his life, from Lena, but now, after almost losing his life, he decides it's time to come back for her. I was amazed by his relationship with his mom and sister. But also with his determination and devotion to getting Lena back and being free together.

You should definitely give this story a try...I am beyond happy that it is going to be a series and some other characters are going to receive their story. I wonder who will be next and I can't wait to read and find more about everyone!

I highly recommend this book! 💗

Thrilling story!!! I absolutely loved reading this book!

Fast paced and suspenseful, this mafia based story kept me glued to my kindle.
Honor is part of a series but it can be read as a standalone, as there's no cliffhanger in it and there's no loose threads, everything clicks just right in the end.

Mario is one sexy and intelligent man. I loved to see his interaction with both his family and Lena.
Lena is such a strong woman! I love characters like her, that doesn't stop fighting for what she wants!
They are just meant to be and together, after years, they fight for their happiness.

Cant wait to read the next book and see what the author has waiting for us!

Mafia book? Check! Romance? Check! Suspense? Check!

Honor by Melissa Ellen has a lot of elements involved which made this book so good. This is the first book that I have ever read by Melissa Ellen and it won't be my last. The writing was great, the characters were likable, and the story line kept you on the edge of your seat! I need to run out and find more books by Melissa Ellen! I haven't read a lot of mafia themed books but this makes me want to read more about this "theme." I am Italian myself HAHA.

Mario and Lena have been friends since they've been kids. Mario and Lena are also kids with fathers involved in the mafia which means their destiny has already been predetermined. I don't want to give too much away but it's so good. Strong male and female characters with a very captivating story. You won't want to put this book down!

With its mafia storyline and one twist after another, Honor, the first standalone romance in Melissa Ellen’s new Made Trilogy, kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end!

Lorena Moretti, or Lena, was promised to Lorenzo Ricci, the next in line to take over her father’s roll in the Italian mafia. She was also trapped in her families’ business with no hope of getting out. Lena's character truly pulled on my heartstrings. I admired that she was strong-minded and courageous in trying to stand up for herself, but it wasn't easy, and I despised how cruelly both her father and Lorenzo treated her and with so little regard.

Mario Leoni was a fantastic hero! I already admired his character as the Blackwood’s bodyguard from Ellen’s previous Blackwood Series, but I was so impressed by the loyalty and love he carried for Lena and his family in this story. Although Mario was incredibly strong and determined, I really questioned his ability to survive the situation he put himself in, but he proved himself tenfold to me at every step along the way!

Mario and Lena were so sweet and caring with each other, and simply put, destined to be together! With Mario’s families’ close ties to the mafia, he and Lena had grown up together, but when the military and his career took him away, Mario had to leave his heart behind. But now he was back for Lena, and with his calculated plan, more determined than ever to win her back. They really were perfect together, and their romance was so passionate, filling me with the hope that Mario's plan would play out as it was designed!

Ellen did a superb job in balancing this complex storyline out, and it was very intriguing with many mysterious layers and surprises at every turn. It seemed a little slow to me at first, but it was necessary to set the stage for the suspenseful read that was coming my way. The ending, wow! I didn’t see that coming at all, and I would also like to thank Melissa Ellen for the two epilogues that provided the remaining answers and the super sweet happily ever after that I was hoping for!

I really enjoyed all of the secondary characters in the story as well, so now I’m curious to know whose story will be next in this series... Perhaps the tough as nails Agent Rhodes and Declan or Eric? I’m not sure, but I am intrigued and really looking forward to more of this series!

4 Stars for Me!

Mafia at its Finest

If I ever had to choose a sub-genre in romance that was my favorite it would be mafia. There is just something about the dark undertones knowing that the characters are teetering on the precipice of being good and bad. Nothing is black and white in Mafia. They are considered criminal and yet live by a sense of loyalty that is not often felt to the same degree in other cultures. Loyalty is demanded and I love to watch the characters vacillate how to stay loyal while also being loyal to love.

This author took these elements and ran with them. The prologue sucked me in and had me on the edge of my seat. She made my heart soar with how well this was done. I am very picky about mafia BECAUSE it is my favorite and she did not disappoint. I kept trying to figure out how this was going to have a happy ending considering loyalty was being tested and how the prologue had ended so it was nice to read a book that kept me guessing. The storyline was plausible, the characters were great (even the secondary ones) and I was thoroughly invested in seeing how this story was going to pan out. Mario and Lena were perfect together. The flashback scenes were great and one in particular really book-ended the story in the conclusion.

I hope there are plans to continue this story and talk about other characters. My interest is really piqued by Agent Rhodes and wants to see more of her. I also really need Gia's story.

This is a new to me author but I can say now that i am a fan and will be looking for future releases from her.

Now that was a read I will think about long after the read, isn't that how it's supposed to be?? I haven't read this author before and man have I been missing out. This mafia read is filled with the normal killing and take overs and women being used as pawns by folks they love but man take it up a notch and you might reach where this author took us. There's plenty of suspense and some real serious twist that make this an awesome read. While the heart is the initiator for all that happens it is truly a brilliant mind that puts it all in play. Nothing is what it seems. Yet as you sit reading this rocking and saying over and over no, no, no, omg noooooo it will seem all to real. Awesome read with characters that will steal your heart and boggle the mind. There will be others that if you had the chance to save them with little effort you wouldn't waste the energy. Personally I'll take his kind of honor any day of the week.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I am so happy that I took the chance. This is a mob family romance that is filled with double crossings, secrets, lies and loyalty. The characters were great and i never saw the end results coming. The writing kept me hooked into the story and I read it all in one sitting.

Mario and Lena have a history filled with stolen moments and hidden feelings. But being a part of the family is much trickier than being allowed to love the person of your choosing. Will they ever be allowed their HEA or will they forever being told how to live?

Grab your copy today if mafia romance suspense is your thing! You will not be disappointed!

Another excellent read by Melissa Ellen! A theme unlike others I’ve read. Mafia, forbidden love, sultry, sensual, intrigue...you won’t be disappointed!

Mario and Lena make you want to always do whatever it takes for love. I related to their love story even though the circumstances are different. Their connection is undeniable.

She somehow always make the characters relatable; their stories captivating to the readers. Can’t wait for the next one!

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW

Narrated by Connor Crais
and Allyson Voller

Honor by Melissa Ellen is book one in her Made series. I devoured this story and Connor Crais and Allyson Voller were fantastic in their performances bringing these characters to life. Connor's gritt and emotion was incredible and Allyson's voice carried her character's fierce, passionate personality perfectly.

There is so much to love about this story. Mafia, romance and tons of suspense and action to keep me guessing as I listened. Lena and Mario are destined to be together.Their love story began when they were children and their connection deepened with time. For Mario growing up in the Leoni family he knew one thing. He did not want anything to do with the mafia business, or following in his fathers footsteps. Lena Moretti is the daughter of a mob boss and although she and Mario fell in love early in their life they were forced apart due to an arranged marriage that she couldn't get out of. Despite this obstacle circumstances bring them back together and Mario will do anything to protect Lena and get her away from a life of misery. The moment Lena and Mario re-enter each others life, the heat, passion and chemistry between them is scorching and undeniable. Like no time has passed.

Melissa Ellen's take on mafia romance was lighter and sweeter side than I am used to but refreshing and no less heart pounding or suspenseful than some of the darker mafia books I have read or listened to. The story is full of action, drama and suspense but is also heartfelt and emotional and Ellen captured all the things I love about her writing. I am looking forward to more to come in this series.

This is my first book by Melissa Ellen and it was amazing! I love Mafia Romance books and this one had me on the edge of my chair!

Mario Leoni has severed his family's Mafia ties, and gone to California with a security job. His father is in prison for a murder he didn't commit because of his loyalty to the family, and Mario left the love of his life behind, Lena Moretti, who is now engaged to Lorenzo, right hand man to Lena's father.

Now Mario returns home, he realizes he can't live without Lena. But she now belongs to a made man and it goes against the code of honor to touch another's woman. He has always tried to be an honorable man. He wants to do less than honorable things to Lena. He still loves her.

OMGOSH this book is so good! There are so many twists and turns you are running just to keep up!! I freaking loved Mario, he was such a sweet guy and loved Lena so much! He was just the perfect guy! And the ending, it will totally shock you! I was crying!!! Not what I thought at all!! You have to read this great book! I am putting this author on my list NOW!

I went into this book blind, not knowing what I was getting myself into, since this was a Melissa Ellen book and Melissa ALWAYS provides a girl with an amazing read. I’ve been reading Melissa Ellen’s books from the beginning, with her Blackwood series, and I was so happy to read about a familiar character. I am addicted to crossover series! I found Mario intriguing when I first met him in the Blackwood series and was ecstatic that he got his own book. Honor was fast paced and grabs your attention from the first page. It held me captive with its unpredictable story line and drew out so many emotions throughout the book. Mario and Lena were PERFECT together! As her first Mafia romance, I think Melissa did one heck of a job and I hope this is the first of many to come. I particularly am dying for Declan to have his own book, so fingers crossed! If you haven’t read from this author before, trust me, you won’t be disappointed picking this book up.

Hidden twists to a story and a powerful love.
by sewsummore

Mario had loved Lena , his childhood companion since he was nine years old. As they grew older their love deepened until he was forced to leave her for her own safety and for his. Such a love would not be allowed by her mafia father so he left but never forgot. Years later he returned with a plan that would see a reunion of their love and the safety of his family. I enjoyed the drama of this story, the suspense and the twisted ending that saw Mario, Lena and his mother and sister free from the mob living their lives far away from enemies that thought them dead and buried. There were hidden twists to this story that added intrigue I never saw coming and a powerful love which we all seek to have for our own.

Wow. I have no idea where this series is going to go next, but if this book is an example, I want to be there to see it. There ae so many cleverly plotted twists, turns, and miss-directions that I was starting to doubt my own loyalty by the end. Mario and Lena were positively adorable together. The only issue I had was my own fault. There are some mentions in the story to previous events that left me scratching my head, wondering what I’d missed. Well, what I’d missed was just about the whole Blackwood series and that’s why I was missing those couple of references. You don’t have to have read the series to enjoy this book, but I wonder how different it would look if I had…?

Surprisingly intense and compelling for this genre that can overly bloody and raw. This one seemed to have just the right amount of violence, intrigue, mixed with passionate romantic overtones.
The heavy presence of evil, twisted in with the ideals of warped mafia family loyalty lay like an oppressive canvas over this whole story.
Mario knew he faced death and destruction of his family for the love of his life Lena. An impossible star crossed lovers scenario that seemed destined for failure.
I loved the way the author wove this passionate tale of Mario and Lena. Well written, fast paced, full of action, drama and suspense.
A thrilling ride from start to finish!!

Fist time I have read one of Melissa Ellen’s books, but I have to say I am now a fan. Honor is a Mafia romance full of suspense with twists that will leave You hanging out for more. Mario left the life behind including Lena the daughter of another mafia family, deciding to go back home he knows Lena is the one for him problem is she is now engaged to one of her fathers men, can he break tradition and the rules of their world by going after another made mans woman risking his life and hers ? Best of all it comes with strong characters who,are actually likeable, no cliff hanger and a HEA for Lena and Mario.part of a series but a stand alone book

If you have ever read any of Melissa's book you know that she keeps you on your toes and this one is no different. This one is a fantastic mafia story that we meet some great characters and some shady men. They make you really think, Mario is one guy that makes our hearts pump but at the same time gets what he wants. Lena is his heart and soul and they try everything to be together but things sort of go downhill but come full circle at the end. This series is going to be great I can't wait t I see who gets the next story. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy.

First off, I didn't think I would love mafia books and the more I keep reading them the more I can't put them down. This book was about a young man fighting for his family. He had a plan, a mission to make sure everyone was protected. But sometimes, there is a price to be paid. What's the price? His life? Who will you Honor in the end?

The twists and turns in this book were so captivating that there was no way I was putting this book down. I am so happy that I stumbled upon this author and thank you to all my Bookstagram friends who were able to bring her to my attention. I WILL be reading more of her books.
