Grant is the one person who ever really understood me. He supports me. Comforts me. Encourages me. He cares for me. I don't know what I'd do without his friendship. I can't imagine a world without him.

The way I see it, I have three options:

𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐒𝐨𝐧 #𝟏: Tell Grant how I feel and find out he feels the same. The best-case, most wondrous scenario.

𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐒𝐨𝐧 #𝟐: Don't tell Grant and continue desperately pining after him in silence. Not as great a scenario.

𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐒𝐨𝐧 #πŸ‘: Tell Grant I love him and risk ruining everything when he says he doesn't love me back. The worst-case scenario. My nightmare scenario.

But keeping my feelings a secret is slowly killing me. Every minute I spend with him is both torture and bliss.

Do I risk it? Stay silent? Take a chance? Play it safe?

Can I possibly risk watching my entire world crash and burn around me?

This book is an enjoyable, friends-to-lovers romance that is sure to draw you in from the first page and keep you thoroughly entertained until the very end. This past week has been rather trying and this author’s engaging, slow burn romance was exactly what I needed to life my spirits.

Grant and Liz both work at the bar Sin & Tonic and are best friends, but they also dance around that thin line of being more. Blessed with an artistic soul, I love Liz’s vibrant personality and creative flare. She is a fabulous heroine that I found to be very relatable and as such, I absolutely loved her character. In love with her best friend and coworker, she struggles with the age old question of β€œshould she risk it all” by telling him? Grant is not only handsome, he is also genuine, supportive, and thoughtful. He made some mistakes that brought tears to my eyes, but he is still the kind of man I’d love to snag for a boyfriend. These two together are like magic with an amazing connection that is full of sparks but involves a deep understanding of each other.

This author has an amazing ability to craft a story that will capture your attention from the get go. Her characters are likable, well developed and relatable and the storyline is always interesting. I love how each book has a powerful underlying message and this book is no different. This slow burn, friends-to-lovers romance has a solid storyline complete with a smattering of drama and angst and a whole lot of swoonworthy and steamy moments. Essentially, this is a book that is sure to pull anyone out of a funk and you won’t want to miss out!

Crash and Burn is book 3 in this author’s Sin and Tonic series, but it can be read as a standalone. The previous two books are spectacular so you may what to check them out as well! I read an early complimentary version of this book.

4.5 / 5 stars.

A new chapter awaits in Crash and Burn, Athena Wright's next book in her fun and sexy Sin and Tonic series. The bar is open and fun times are on the menu whenever you stop by. Don't miss out on this awesome series which has 3 books to binge so far along with familiar characters dropping by from time to time from her others series. What's not to love about that? It's a win to me!

Coworkers Grant and Lizzy's luck changes in an instant when the bar they've been working in for years goes from the verge of closing- boring, dirty and hardly enough customers for decent tips, to new owners and a beautifully remodeled, upscale hotspot called Sin and Tonic.

Live music, game nights and better clientele means the popular bartender and the server with a smile, are busier than ever and can continue eyeballing each other, not so discreetly, from across the room for the foreseeable future. Thank goodness because Lizzy has fallen for her handsome, sweet and totally hot best friend and coworker but when is the right time to tell him, if at all? She dying to do it one minute and then second guessing the next. No matter how much she tries to talk herself into doing just that, fear and risk are always the devil on her shoulder saying noooo, don't ruin what you have.

Lizzy isn't sure at all where life should be taking her but when an opportunity arises to dig deeper into the quirky vintage clothing redesign she adores, she jumps right in. Wanting more out of life than tending bar, Grant hopes to find it creating the kind of art he loves of with his photography. They support each others hopes and dreams but neither will give in to the obvious, slow burning attraction that everyone around them sees, until a perfectly timed moment changes everything! Sooooo very hot! Looks like sexy times and tender moments for these two clueless friends who swear to always make their friendship a priority but will what happens to all those pretty words when $h!t gets real and hits the big old fan???

Emotions run high, low and everything in between as Lizzy learns what major regret feels like as the rug is pulled right out from under her feet after a few life changing decisions almost break her. Grant discovers too late that not listening to his heart is one of his biggest mistakes of all. It might cost him everything that's dear to him and there's nothing he can do about it.

Bring those tissues for the inevitable angst and heartache that being fly on the wall in Sin and Tonic will bring to you in Crash and Burn. You might want to lock a few people in a closet together to work it out amongst themselves for a few days! Just kidding! This book was another wonderful offering in Athena's exciting Sin and Tonic world and I'm looking so foward to seeing who will meet up in this bar next. It doesn't matter though, because reading whatever comes my way in this series will be a pleasure, as it always is with a book from this talented author for me!

An advanced, complimentary version of this book was provided and these are my honest, unbiased thoughts after reading it.

A 3.5 star read for me. I have already read some of Athena's books and most have a rockstar theme. This time she took me by surprise by writing a romance about best friends to lovers. It was a slow burn theme that leads to a HEA. Liz and Grant work at a bar together with professional ambitions of their own. Liz has had a crush on Grant for some time and she never has had the chance to tell him the truth. When she finally decides to take matters into her own hands, she realizes that Grant had been hiding his strong feelings for her. Both characters are so very alike. I must admit, at a certain point my sympathy lessened in Grant's regards but fortunately he recovered points at the end of the book. Overall a nice read that fills the reader's heart with hope and love. I'm voluntarily leaving a review after receiving a courtesy copy of the book.

From the moment I picked up this book I could not put it down. What a great friends to lovers romance read. Liz and Grant's are friends and both have feelings for each other but they are both afraid of losing what they have. These two have such great chemistry between them. I loved reading how their friendship started developing into more. I loved the little surprise twist that I did not see coming. It took me on an emotion journey that did not stop until I finished the book. It did not disappoint me at all. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

Always a great series
4.5
Excellent romance, very well written, whose title reflects well the content, due to the strong emotions of the two main characters Grant and Liz.
The characters are very good, even if for a few chapters they annoyed me with their hesitations, but then it’s becomes very hot, full of twists and turns.
Liz and Grant both work in a bar, secretly attracted to each other for years. They are also both at a turning point in their careers. When their relationship finally begins, the difficulties also begin leading to a succession of twists and turns.

This is the 3rd book in the Sin and Tonic series from Athena and is a really enjoyable read. Liz and Grant have been best friends and co-workers at the bar. Liz has had a serious crush on Grant forever but is too afraid to let him know in case it ruins their friendship. He is the only person who really understands her and who encourages her dreams of becoming a designer against her parent's wishes for her to become a paralegal. Suddenly Liz's perfect life is blown apart by two devastating events that almost make her follow her parents advice and learn to be a paralegal instead of following her dreams.

They say when life gives you lemons make lemonade, and you have to admire Liz's ability to pick herself up and her determination to go on with her life. Grant seemed such a sweet guy in the beginning but his actions leave you wondering if he deserves his happy ending until he proves his love to Liz.

Enjoy this fun read best friends becoming more and believing in yourself against all the odds.

It has been a while since I read a friends to lovers book that I hated. I truly didn't enjoy this book at all, the heroine was a whiney doormat who seemed to be waiting on the hero to make a move and the hero had his head so far up his own butt. . .I just didn't enjoy this at all.

Who says a guy and a girl can't be best of friends and maintain that relationship.Β Β

A definite must read.Β  A book well written with a friendship meant for so much but with a tragic end but a resurrection that doesn't come easily.Β Β Grant and Liz worked at a run down bar that they loved working at.Β  They both had great work ethics.Β  Soon they find out that the owner is selling it but they won't be losing their jobs.Β  Which they are thrilled about.Β  A paycheck and tips coming in.Β  Renovations and a manger at theΒ  Sin and Tonic bar, the clientele increases.Β Β
Grant and Liz are best friends and do a lot of things together, know a lot about their individual livesΒ  and go out for a late night brunch at a nearby diner.Β  They have fun in their friendship.Β  But as things sometimes happen one or both grow feelings greater than a friendship.Β  Neither one of them want to risk that meaningful friendship so the subject is never broached or lines crossed.Β  They suffer in silence.Β Β
Grant is also a photographer besides a really great bartender.Β  His goal is to have his work displayed some day at a gallery.Β  Liz loves to make her own clothing.Β  She sews outfits but does a lot of repurposing clothes that she goes hunting for at bargain stores that carry clothes.Β  Then she makes her alterations to what she pictures in her mind.Β  Very talented.Β  Plus she loves her job at the bar, bartending at times but getting customers their drinks.Β Β Unfortunately for her, her parents want her to go back to school and become a paralegal like her mother or an accountant like her father.Β  Both ideas that she hates.Β Β
So much happens with the friends ship between Grant and Liz.Β  You love the characters as well as the other characters introduced into the story line.Β
You'll enjoy the characters, laugh, get exasperated and cry.Β  Well done Athena Wright.Β  I love and recommend your book to readers.Β Β

Liz has been in love with Grant, her co-worker pretty much since they met. They are best friends but she wants more. She's just been too afraid to risk what they have to tell him. By the time she gets up her nerve Grant is dating a model. When that doesn't last Liz finally gets her chance. But just as she has everything she's dreamed of with Grant, his past steps in and it's over as soon as it began. Making her life a complete mess, she trusted the wrong person to be a mentor and her dreams of being a fashion designer are stolen away. Maybe it's time to forget her dreams and live the sensible life her parents want for her.

I gave this book 4 stars because it's well-written, not because I loved it. I usually love Athena's characters but from the beginning, I was lukewarm about these two. Liz was afraid to take chances at times and careless when she did. Her inattention to detail that landed her in a bad spot bothered me greatly. Grant never seemed as into her as she was him. We found out his reasoning when he made a decision that ended any hope of me believing in these two as a couple. I don't want to spoil anything but some actions can't be undone and can't be forgotten. He made a decision in the most uncaring way possible. Her feelings were completely dismissed for his past fantasy. He hurt Liz and lost trust. Done. I wish her well with her fashion. I hope he has a successful photography career. I hope that she finds a man that will cherish her and put her first. I don't care if he finds a woman or not. I know other readers will be able to forgive and forget. It's well-written, it's set in the wonderful world of Sin and Tonic and the edge of the rock world, and we get a glimpse of other favorite characters. Just because it frustrated me doesn't mean that others won't enjoy it fully.

Where to start? This book is a fun rollercoaster of should I, can I , I want to, but can I really risk it? In other words, a sometimes humorous -if hair pulling- soap opera ride. We meet two friends, Grant and Liz, who work together in a bar that is slowly losing business due to a competitor (owned by Walt-a beloved character in the Hard Rock book series by Athena Wright). But this time we follow a story in the life of two ordinary, non-rock star people. Fear not though, just as much angst exists for these "normal" people as is for the rock stars:) Liz has loved Grant for what seems like forever and is locked in a dilemma of whether to take the plunge and tell him. She's scared that he might not feel the same but keeps facing events that actually seem to justify her not telling him. I'm not going to give more details because I don't want to spoil the fun. (But I will never look at photo shoots the same way...hee..hee..heee) Just know that there are lots of emotions: frustrating "I wanna B-slap " both of them times, hilarious smirky instances, dramatic career related conflicts, romantic "hot" interludes, head shaking "grow up" moments, and the awesome fist pumping meet old friends snippets. Athena Wright throws the whole book of emotions at us. I'll leave with a quote by Liz that sums up the emotional rollercoaster of the book: " I'd dreamed about it happening so many times. I'd envisioned this moment over and over again...It was everything I could have hoped for. It was everything I'd ever wanted. And yet..."

Grant and Liz are co-workers at a run down bar and best friends. Grant and Liz learn the bar they work at is being sold but not losing their jobs with the new owner planning renovations that will turn their rundown bar into an upscale bar, Sin and Tonic. Grant and Liz dance around their feelings for each other not wanting to ruin their friendship. Grant is growing his photography business while helping his mother and sister out financially. Grant dreams of having his photos displayed in a gallery. Liz is constantly getting criticism from her mother about working at a bar and not having a stable job like her, a paralegal, or her father, an accountant. Liz does know one thing; she loves to make clothes and repurpose clothes she discovers when bargain shopping. What happens when Liz is given the opportunity to design for a famous fashion label? Will Grant and Liz finally give into their feelings for each other and explore a relationship beyond friendship? What happens when Grant ex shows up again? Will Liz forgive Grant for breaking her heart? Will Grant and Liz find their happily ever after? I LOVE Athena Wright! Athena is a MUST read author for this reader. Crash and Burn is a fantastic story with great characters who will make you laugh out loud, bang your head in frustration, and even cry. Grant and Liz's chemistry is explosive. I would highly recommend getting Crash and Burn and the other books in the Sin and Tonic series by Athena Wright. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving an honest review.

Grant and Liz work together at a bar and are best friends, but something is lurking in both. Their chemistry as friends is unquestionable, but would taking it beyond to the romantic side strengthen or damage their relationship. If it works...fantastic! If is doesn't, does their friendship truly have the resilience to survive intact? Especially when the past invades their exploration of ... more?

I thought the bit of drama that entered Liz's career was good - added depth to that part of the story and really made you feel for her situation.

After initially liking Grant, he hit a BIG snag for me. To be practically declaring his love for Liz and then throw it away on something long past (something never even having mentioned previously to anyone let alone the best friend!) did not fit for me. It didn't seem like cold feet, and the "what if" just didn't seem strong enough-forced. That part of the story just threw me off.

Other than that, it was an entertaining read

This is a sweet romance and it is well-written and one expects from Athena Wright. It was a bit too saccharine for my taste at the moment. There is a whole riff with Liz designing for a designer that just seems unbelievable. She didn't read the contract that was more NDA than contract. She put in an inordinate amount of work designing and ignoring a the signs she was being ripped off. She just comes off as weak, whiny, and indecisive. I know, if she just said what she needed to say and made reasonable business decisions, there'd be no novel, but ... And Grant isn't the straightest of shooters either. Again, if he were upfront, there wouldn't be a book. I kind of count on this author to write strong, bold characters and, in that context, I was disappointed. That said, it is a cute book and there are worse ways to while away an afternoon.

Best friends to lovers! It was great to finally see Liz and Grant test the waters of their friendship to see if they could work as something more. These two bartenders hold the fort at Sin and Tonic and are best friends. They don't want to risk their friendship by admitting they have stronger feelings for one another, however this ends up leading to more angst, jealousy and confusion.

They are both artistic by nature and definitely bring out the best sides of each other. Both Liz and Grant admire each others abilities, be it Grant's side business in photography or Liz's uncanny ability to make herself repurposed new and fashionable outfits. I loved their chemistry as friends and even as a couple. They both complimented each other beautifully. This was a great friends to lovers romance. I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC and this is my honest review.

I loved it!
I was curious about Liz and Grant's story since the moment I read about them first. They had an incredible chemistry and were so cute I needed more, and fortunately Athena provided, and what an amazing story she provided! They're friends and afraid of ruining said friendship if they come clean abut their feelings for each other, When Liz finally mustered up the courage to tell Grant she had feelings for him, a girlfriend she didn't know about came in Sin and Tonic, shattering her resolve. They eventually will manage to get it all in the open, but between the past chasing Grant and Liz's unsure career future they'll have a lot to face before getting their HEA. This is a must read if you loved the previous books in the series.

With things all crazy lately, I was looking for a book that will let you escape into another world. This one just so happens to be Grant and Liz.

In Crash and Burn we have Grant and Liz, they both work at the bar Sin and Tonic. This is a book where we have friends to lovers. They have such great chemistry but just never really took it to the next level. That is what Crash and Burn is about. If you have a good best friends relationship and get along with that person, do you risk all of that for a romance that may not work?

I really enjoyed this read. But then I usually do enjoy an Athena read. She helps you to just relax and escape your busy day/bad. If you have not read any of this series yet, I would I highly recommend this three part series. I enjoyed each and every one separately but with the same satisfaction of a good book.

This is the third book in the Sin and Tonic series but it can be read as a standalone. This is the only book I've read from the series and I didn't feel like I was lost or missing out on anything at all.

This story is about Liz and Grant. They work together and have become very close friends. But Liz wants more. She's in love with Grant but scared to tell him how she feels. Even though everyone else can see it, she doesn't know if he feels the same. So they continue to dance around each other. I enjoyed this book. There were some angsty moments in there where I wasn't sure how things were going to play out to make it a happy ending, but I knew it had to be coming. Definitely going to check out the other books in the series.

This is a great series and if you love a friends to lovers story then look no further. Liz and Grant are best friends and bartenders at the Sin and Tonic .
They have a great and easy friendship. They love their job at the bar and it allows them to persue their artistic of her clothing designing and his photography.
Liz has lives Grant in more than a platonic fashion for awhile but does not want to jeopardize their friendship and herself if feelings aren’t reciprocated. During a photo shoot both give into their feelings. Yet when Liz faces challenges will they have what it takes or will her fears become a reality?
Love this series and characters. I enjoy how this author makes you truly feel so many emotions for the characters as you become invested. I recommend this book and series.

Poignant, Heart-Wrenching Moments - 4.5 Stars

This was a nice story that was easy to read. There were parts in the story near the beginning where I felt some points were belabored involving the main male and main female characters. The balance of the story held my attention as long as I was able to keep my box of tissues beside me. Very poignant and heart-wrenching moments caused me to cry, as I empathized with those involved in difficult life circumstances. I calmed down with the happily-ever-after the two main male and male female characters were able to finally achieve.

I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this novel from the author and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.

I don’t know how to describe what I feel about this book. Such a waste! It could have been a great one IF he hadn’t choose his ex bestfriend/ the woman he loved and hadn’t broke up with the heroine on the 70% mark!! WTF?! Did the author really think that it would be enough pages for the hero to grovel and the heroine take him back? She is such a doormat… and he’s a f** a**hole who thought that he had to try again with his ex and did it because the heroine didn’t beg him to stay with him instead?! I want to throw up! For me that’s unforgivable and I’m tired to see another heroine lacking of self respect and forgive the hero just because he said β€˜ I love you’. (sorry, I’m being emotional and English is not my mother tongue)

Lordy, Athena just draws you in and doesn't let go until the last page! I've been waiting for Liz and Grant to get their turn and I was NOT disappointed. This one has a bit more angst but a great storyline and characters. Liz and Grant have spent years dancing around one another. Everyone else can see their intense attraction but them. Liz impressed me by growing a backbone and realizing she needed to make herself happy. Grant screws up big time and I wasn't sure he was going to make it out of the hole he buried himself in. Make sure you have time because you won't be able to put this one down.

This is a story of unrequited love, or maybe it’s just unknown love. It’s as a old as time. What do you do when you’re in love with your best friend? Do you risk it? Do you take the chance and hope. Or do you stay silent? When do you start believing in yourself and do your parents really know best for your life? Is it alright not to know where your life is headed? Or does life really happen while you’re busy making other plans? These are some of the issues facing Liz and Grant in this lovely story. There’s a lot to be dealt with but you need to discover it for yourself. I don’t do spoilers.
It’s a fast read that will bring you smiles, tears and hope.

Grant and Liz show us best case scenario when best friends toy with the idea and eventually decide YES, we can cross that line and safely preserve what we have built but also SO MUCH MORE! They truly 'get' each other, and that sets the foundation of their relationship at a much deeper level. I loved Liz and her artistic brain, and the chemistry between her and Grant was great. I feel like the author took us through so many emotions! In the end you can't help but to smile for these two!

I was pulled into this one from the start and ended up finishing reading this one in 2 days. Once I started, I just couldn’t stop. The events in this book are so real life and easy to relate to. You can just fell the anxiety and uncertainty plaguing Lizzy. Wanting to provide you can handle your own life and make wise choices and so afraid to show and discuss your failures. I definitely felt many emotions while reading this book! I truly recommend you read this one.

A friends to lovers romance. Faced with an impossible decision to make, Liz has three options: 1. tell him that she loves him and hopes that he feels the same, 2. don't tell him and continue to love him from afar, or 3. tell him and he brushes her off. The heart pounds when trying to work the angles and come up with the option that she believes will be the future happiness she seeks. Love a story that is a slower burn telling with a more realistic set of circumstances.

A friends to lovers romance that makes you want to jump up and say hey she loves you, lol. So many times I thought Liz would tell him but she kept chickening out. I have to say I wasn’t real sure if grant liked her not for most of the book till they slept with each other lol. But I was with mason when I say thank god they were together finally, they make such a cute couple. So glad they got there happy ever after!!

Crash and Burn is the third book in the Sin and Tonic series but can be read as a standalone. I really loved these characters, Grant and Liz are so well developed and great to read about. They are best friends but Liz wants more, she is in love with her best friend and she doesn't know what to do about it. Will she risk everything and tell Grant how she feels?

This book was fantastic! It is a friends to lovers, slow burn romance. I absolutely adored it. 5 stars
