Liv-
I came to Sunnyville broken, battered, and bloody.
I was saved, rescued by an angel wearing a badge and from that point on, I wanted to be just like him.

Flash forward two years and I finally have my opportunity.
But then Topher Harding asks me out on a date.
He’s sexy, he has dimples, and he’s a cop.
One date turns into five turns into me thinking this guy might be my forever.
Unfortunately, things don’t always go to plan.

This is my life and I refuse to let anyone, or anything stand in my way.
Especially a sexy, dimpled cop who thinks I need a hero.

Topher-
From the second the new dispatcher walked into the station, I wanted her.
She’s smart, quick thinking, and on a scale of one to ten, her body is a fifteen.
For the first time in my life, I want to stop adding notches to my bedpost and buy a new bed.
One I can share with Liv for the rest of my life.

After everything she has been through, I need is make sure nothing and no one can touch her again.
Then I find out she’s been keeping a secret that I can’t get over.
So, I let her walk out of my life.

Now she’s back with a shiny new badge of her own.
And being the department’s Field Training Officer, she’s put under my wing.

She still doesn’t need a hero.
But she does need me.
And I’ll prove it to her.

My GOD people, there is no end to the amount of esteem I hold for this author's skill.
EVERY.SINGLE.BOOK. Perfection

So, right off the bat, you’re gonna need a minute. To say that Liv’s past/history has baggage would be the understatement of the year. It’s brutal and in your face and it happens to more people than I care to even analyse. Children are my kryptonite. You mess with one and I will burn you down. So, I was off to a great start with this story . My emotions were on high alert and truth be told; they stayed that way thru most of the story because this story is emotional on all kinds of levels. There are feelings and secrets and unexpected actions all up in this story that will turn you inside out in the most glorious of ways because who wants to read a boring story?! Lol

I was affected by this story because it is real and relatable, and Liv could be me or you or anyone. I was also affected because it’s a really good story that is well written with a perfect blend of heat and conflict and heart all wrapped up in a cocoon of hope!

"one thing for sure. She'll never feel pain or fear like she did growing up. Not if I have anything to say about it and for as long as she'll let me, I'm going to have a say"

Misty walker has a way with her words.
she gets you to know her characters and they feel like real people.
I loved Liv and Topher.
They came from similar background but the difference in their faith made a huge effect on their future.
Liv carries so much pain and trauma and she needs to really trust someone before taking off her mask
Which makes it really hard for her after falling in love because she knows her plans for the future could have a weight on her relationship, but she has to do it!
Topher has a painful past but he has people supporting him and he knows what he wants:
He wants Liv
And he doesn't want his loved one to be a cop like himself
He lets her go
And then she comes back
And he has to make a choice, he needs to accept his love's choices in life in order for them to have a future.

Liv's flame-hot relationship burns out as quickly as it started once Topher finds out her secret. But Liv doesn't let that stand in her way. No, she has a singular dream - become a cop so she can help people as she was helped when she needed it most. So Topher will just have to deal because she's not giving up that dream just because his stubborn stupid big-head alphahole self can't deal with the thought of her in danger. But becoming her Training Officer will only stir the pot of his hostility toward her. Will the two ever be even civil to each other? Are there still dormant feelings beneath the surface just waiting to be fanned?

I liked Cop-Out for one main reason - Liv. I loved how determined and strong she was, even in the face of Topher's aggressive anger. She had a seriously awful childhood and did not let it bring her down or make her give up on her dream. I liked how sweet she is and her character in general. Now Topher? Nope. I could not stand him at all. I love me an alpha, but he's got to have redeeming qualities, and I didn't think Topher had any redeeming qualities. He absolutely refused to see Liv's perspective and he was a dick to her because of it. The ending was rushed, but I do like how they got their happiness finally, after all they went through, or more accurately, everything Topher put them through. I liked Liv enough to make up for hating Topher, and the story was entertaining, and well-written, so 4 stars seems fair.

'Cop Out' by Misty Walker is a book of the 'everyday Heroes' world. Told in dual perspectives, this book was a memorable contemporary romance for me!

Liv and Topher have an amazing take that pulled at my heartstrings. Topher has always loved her and finally has got the chance to ask her out. One date turns to two and soon they are both falling hard and fast. However secrets and dark pasts seem to surface, pulling them apart.

This book was a light read, but it did have some triggers. A definite recommendation to all the contemporary romance lovers out there!!

4 Stars!

Misty Walker was brand spanking new to me when I read this book and y'all, I was crazy impressed.

Cop-Out was really, really good... a fast burning- packed with so many emotions and so much heart- love story that was riddled with complications, secrets, past demons, loads of heat, crazy undeniable chemistry, all of the feels, and had one alpha who is gonna make you swoon, cover to cover and have you falling headfirst...hard.

Stop what you're doing and go check out this book if you like alpha males and strong heroines like me. Cop-Out was a real page-turner that had me flipping the pages fast and rooting on the sidelines for Topher and Liv.

I'm definitely gonna have to check out the other standalones in the Everyday Heroes World and the backlist from this author too.

I recommend this book.

Wow this story blew my socks off. I absolutely loved every word of it.

Topher is a hot, sexy cop. Liv is a lovely likeable character. I really loved these two characters and was rooting for them hard.

I’m not gonna say anything about the storyline. You really do need to read this yourself.Brilliantly written story that pulled on my heartstrings.

This is my first book in the Everyday Heroes world and it was a great one! Liv has been involved in unimaginable horrors in her life and her dream is to become a policewoman. She gets involved with Topher, a policeman, who thinks it’s his job to protect her but Liv prides herself in not needing a man to protect her. She has armed herself with the weapons needed (not literal weapons!) to protect herself from the world whenever she needs it. She’s a strong, kickass woman even if, at first sight, she doesn’t seem like it. So what happens when she has to fight against someone who loves her and wants to protect her instead of letting her be her own woman? We find out in this great story about a woman overcoming horrible odds to be a success in her own right! If you are looking for a hot story with a sexy, alpha, tattooed policeman and the woman who can take him on then this is the book for you!

Cop-Out started out with Liv's past in full color, and it was heartbreaking.  Luckily, an angel in blue rescued her, and now she is determined to become a cop as well to pay it forward.  As she's waiting to get into the academy, she's working as a dispatcher which is where Topher came across her. He's a cop who is older than her, who has wanted her for some time, and finally made his move. They're building something together when he finds out what she's about to do, so he dumps her.  Honestly, I could see the reason why he was upset, but here's the thing.  The choices he made right after really set me off because he totally put her out of his life like she was trash, so as far as I'm concerned, he was a lying liar.  When she comes back to the department with a badge, Topher is supposed to train her, but he makes her life a living hell to get her to quit instead (there were so many times I would have throat and/or junk punched him). Things take a turn in their job, and supposedly it made him see the light, but I'm calling BS.  I never warmed up to him after turning on a dime like he did but I loved me some Liv though, and it was a fast paced story that I didn't put down. Anyway, this is only my opinion, so please decide for yourselves by hitting those one click buttons! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Cop Out was a fast paced emotional page turner that will give you all the feels right from the very start. Told in dual POV, his was an Age-Gap, Friends-to-Lovers, Small Town romance set inside K. Bromberg's Everyday Heroes World.
Your heart will go out to Liv and you will be rooting for her throughout the story as she tries to prove her strength and independence and show she can live on her own. Topher is the protective alpha male and the chemistry between him and Liv was quite evident. However their story was not an easy one and I will admit there were times I did not like Topher however but I enjoyed seeing the development in their characters and the progression in the relationship. This novel was a good blend of heat, conflict and emotions. I did enjoy it and would recommend it to all lovers of contemporary romance.

ARC for honest review with no compensation received from Grey’s Promotions 4.5 stars

Cop-Out by Misty Walker is part of the Everyday Heroes World written by K Bromberg. This is my first book by Ms. Walker and I will certainly be looking to read more from her!

What an emotional, taking control, lots of sass, ups, down, painful past but determined to build a life and future of her choosing. Liv is a determined young woman and will let nothing get in her way to becoming a police officer but Topher knows the risks and is determined to convince her to find another profession..so not happening...can these two find a compromise? Only time will tell...

Liv has overcome a devastating past and is creating a new life for herself and while she enjoys working as a dispatcher for the police department, she has bigger dreams for the future. While she is working there, she meets Topher, who is police officer, and the chemistry between them ignites she makes a decision he can’t accept, and they go their separate ways.

Months later their paths cross once again except now she is police officer and he is her partner. He is determined to show her that this isn’t the career for her while she is determined to show him that she has the skills to succeed. Who will win this battle of wills?

Liv’s strength and resilience shines through as she is not about to give up her dreams for anyone while Topher may have had her best interests at heart he will have to decide what he can live with and who he can’t live without.

4.5 STARS REVIEW

Contemporary Romance, Age-Gap, Friends-to-Lovers, Small Town

First Person, Dual-POV

This is a standalone story inside K. Bromberg's Everyday Heroes World.

Original plot concept, lovable characters fast-paced, sexy romance!!!

This book was extremely good! It kept me invested in the characters happiness from the beginning.

Protective love!!!

31.5/35 STARS –  4.5 STARS (between 31.5 stars and 33 stars)

Addictiveness: 4.5 Character: 5 Cover: 4.5 Freshness: 4 Plot: 4.5 Romance: 4.5 Writing Style: 4.5

Action 3/5 Angst 3/5 Darkness 0/5 Humor 1/5 Romance 5/5 Suspense/Mystery 2/5

Would I recommend? Yes, for all readers of steamy contemporary romance!

Would I re-read this book/series? I think so!

Would I read more from the author? Definitely!!!

Addictiveness: 4.5/5 This was a fast-burn romance with lovable characters that kept me interested from the beginning. As addictive as ice cream!!!

Character: hero 4.5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 Multidimensional characters with good background stories and great personal growth during the book.

Liv was a strong heroine. She had a back start of life, but came out stronger for it. She conquered her fears and was able to opened herself for second chances. She was very easy to love and connect.

Topher was a good hero. Yes, like most men, he had some too-stupid-to-live moments. From within him came out some chauvinism, but he was always fighting them and trying to get better. He was a good guy, very alpha and protective, and a bit of a jerk also. His personal growth during the story was good and it felt realistic.

Secondary characters I really loved them all and I'm really looking forward to read a Bray-Carly story. (Hopefully there will be one!)

Villain/antagonists there are no villains. Their fight and struggles were with themselves.

They were all easy to love, to connect and understand!!!

Cover: art 4.5/5, title 5/5, color-font 5/5, subtitle 2/5, background 5/5 buy 5/5  I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. I always try to be true to myself, I buy so many books because of the cover and I have skipped many because of not very appealing art. Covers are part of the experience for me and I do like to understand them. This one was perfection!!! I really liked this art. I can totally see Topher and his tattoos here. I only wished we had some subtitle here that gave a glimpse of the story. I would easily buy this book by its cover without needing to read the blurb!

Freshness: 4/5 Unique! Even though is was another small town, contemporary romance, it felt original. The author amazingly turned the things around by creating a fast-burn romance, that looked perfect, until it wasn't anymore. It felt fresh!! As fresh as mint mentos!!!

Plot: believable 5/5, conflict 5/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 4.5/5, opening 5/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 4/5, twists 4/5  Amazing opening with an interesting ending. Great plot, with well written dialogues and fast-paced. Good setting, with ok subplot and a couple of enjoyable twists. High level of enjoyment!

This plot concept was really good. Even though this could have been another contemporary, small town, cop story, the author gave a fresh vibe to it that felt original.

Romance: believable 5/5, chemistry 5/5, description 5/5, development 4/5, steam 4/5  Their chemistry was undeniable and their love story seemed perfect, until it wasn't. Their struggle felt real and very believable. The smut here was amazing with so many panty-wetter scenes. Sexy romance!!!

Writing Style: 4.5/5 This was a first read by the author for me and I'm really looking forward to read more from her. Characters were very well developed with lot of depth to them. Plot was interesting, original and cohesive. The writing was clean, without loopholes. The romance was hot and dirty enough! Amazing writing!!!

Because I try to be very analytical and I don't really believe in perfection...

I think the second part of the book was a bit rushed. I wanted a little more groveling. :)

You MAY read this because you follow the author; you SHOULD read this because you like the series; you MUST read this because of the great plot!!!

I really loved how Cop-Out immediately dove into the worst of Liv's past so that the reader could see how strong and capable she had become since escaping her abusive father. She had worked on strengthening her mind and body, and worked as a PD dispatcher until she could go into the police academy to become an officer.

Topher started off as an okay H; he claimed he was giving up his manwhore ways with the badge bunnies because he was intent on pursuing Liv. He even took things slow before they became intimate, saying, "Liv, I want your heart, your mind, your soul, and your body. I want it all." Of course, once they solidified their relationship and professed their love for one another he found out she was going to the police academy and lost his ever-loving mind! Ugh. No more mature love from him, no more kindness or appreciative words for the strong woman Liv was - - he was done with her and dumped her AND went back to his skeezy badge bunnies while she was gone.

So when Liz came back to join the police force, everyone was happy except for Topher who was still acting like an immature twank and made things hard for Liv on the job. Cue in one intense situation that Liv handled like the bada** cop that she was and then he miraculously never stopped loving her and she immediately forgave him for his treatment of her before and after she left and then let him have unprotected sex with her when she knew darn well he'd been with the badge bunnies while she was gone. Ew!

So, I really, really liked Cop-Out until 55% into the book (that's page 135 out of 243, in case you are wondering). The rest was ruined by Topher the Gopher.

This is an ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.

I wish I could give this 3.5 stars. This would have been a solid 4 star read except for a scene at the end. I rounded up instead of down because if that scene had been scrapped it wouldn't have affected the book.

Cop Out by Misty Walker is a part of the Everyday Heroes World started by K. Bromberg. This book moves slower than the other books in this series but I really appreciated that in light of the subject matter. This is an age gap romance. The playlist that starts the book really sets the tone of the book. This book was better than I expected. I really liked the police references that were very specific and not just the standard repetition.

Liv and Topher start out as work friends with a friendly banter that quickly becomes more. Liv has had a difficult life and worked to overcome those past traumas. I really like the two of them together, they are good for each other.

When I started this book I thought McIntyre was going to be the love interest for Liv and I wasn't really ok with that. Thank goodness I was wrong.

The steamy scene at the end of this book never would have happened. With the accurate portrayal of policing in the rest of the book I can't believe that this was left in. I will not give a spoiler but just no. No. No. No.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and would read more from Misty Walker.

Misty Walker has given us a Fantastic Addition to The Everyday Heroes World With Cop-Out.
Liv Salverson is a young woman looking forward to a future where she has all the power and control over her life after living a painful past. She has a great job working for the Sunnyville Department but she’s looking forward to becoming a cop and proving not to just herself but to everyone that she can do whatever she sets her mind too. What she never expects is Topher Harding and all the ways he’s going to change her life.
Topher Harding is a cop for Sunnyville and the first time he sees Liv he knows he wants to be more than colleagues but what he never expects is that even younger than him she has a lot spunk and sass that will have him becoming a little more than he expected.
The chemistry between them is off the charts and as you turn the pages you can’t help see how they can steam up the pages but sometimes what you want isn’t always what you get. There will be some ups and downs and some bumps in the road but if you stick to your guns you just might get what you want but what you deserve.

I enjoyed this book. The story offers up an entertaining blend of romance, drama, tension, turmoil, secrets, angst, heart and heat. I found Liv and Topher quite likable and I loved their chemistry. Topher was a very swoon worthy hero and Liv was an incredibly strong heroine that had risen from the ashes of her painful past. She made my heart ache. In all, I thought that this was a really good book. This is my elective, forthright review.

This book wasn't as action packed as I was expecting but still sends you on a rollercoaster of emotions.
With an inspirational plot and female character you'll find yourself turning the pages at a fast pace.
The only part I didn't enjoy was the chauvinistic male character. I get being bull headed but it's the 21st century and his poor behaviour went on for too long.
In saying that fantastic end and hope to see them all again someday.

Wow really loved this story! Misty Walker really hit some heart strings with this one! The heroine has went thru things that are cringe worthy and her strength and will to live and become someone bigger and better are awesomely written! My heart broke for both the heroine and hero at times in this book. This story could certainly be an abuse trigger for some, but this story is so much more! It’s the heroine fighting for herself and being unwilling to give up on herself that truly makes this book awesome! The romance and hotness is a bonus! ❤️❤️

Liv Is a dispatcher that had a rough childhood and had 2 amazing guardian angels. Topher is a seasoned cop. Topher has his eye on Liv. Liv has her eyes on becoming a cop. Can Liv open up to Topher and trust him with her heart? Can he learn that she doesn’t always need to be saved by him? I truly enjoyed reading this book. I loved the rollercoaster of emotions this book took me on. This was definitely a fast paced story. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

The blurb for this book had me desperate to get my hands on it, absolutely loving the Everyday Heroes World books so far, I couldn’t wait to start this one.

The prologue had my heart breaking for Liv, who was living in a horrendous situation and made me instantly fall in love with Joe.

The story is set in two parts. Part one is where we find Liv a couple of years later, no longer the battered and broken teenager, she’s now a dispatcher for the Sunnyville PD and living a good, but slightly sheltered life. This is also where we meet Topher, an older policeman who has had his eye on Liv for a while, but finally decides to make his move when Liv accepts an invitation from her friend to join them on a night out. Topher is the epitome of a ‘man something the rhymes with spore’, putting it about as much as he can and isn’t discriminatory about who with (yuck) until Liv changes all that, but sadly once she reveals her ‘secret’ that all changes. Now, to me, this secret is not a big thing, I understand Topher’s reasoning, I even understand him splitting up with her over it because of his past and his beliefs, what I don’t understand is the way he treats her, this made me instantly dislike him, and he couldn’t redeem himself in my eyes.

Part two is 8 months later when Liv returns, a fully certified policewoman. As promised Liv goes back to the Sunnyville PD where she is partnered with Topher, who is vile to her. He is immediately cruel, unsupportive and vows to make her quit her dream job, she has wanted to do since she was saved by Joe, so she can return the favour and save others in situations like she was. Also, in her absence Topher has returned to his old ways. After weeks of run ins it takes Liv getting in to a tricky situation where her life is on the line, for Topher to finally see Liv as the strong, capable, determined woman she is, and Liv falls straight back in to his arms.

Sadly for me, this just didn’t hit the mark, I adored Liv, her strength and character, and I loved Joe and his protectiveness of her, in fact, I was hoping there’d be something more between them, but alas, nothing but sibling feelings on both sides. For me, I couldn’t get behind Topher as a hero, I didn’t feel like he truly cared for Liv, he wanted her to give up her dream, whilst he was living his. His actions during their time apart spoke volumes and his treatment of her on her return, infuriated me. I enjoyed Misty’s writing style, the storyline and the majority of the characters, but the chemistry between the couple just wasn’t there for me on this one unfortunately.

Cop-Out is my first book by Misty Walker and I'm so sad on what I've been missing out on. I'm going to immediately start reading her backlist.

Liv Salverson is a dispatcher for the Sunnyvale Police Department. It's no surprise she has a need to work with the police department after her horrible past. Liv is fierce, strong, and learning to stand on her own two feet. She has lived with Joyce since she made a decision to make a call that changed her life forever. Topher is an officer who works at the SPD. He's older than her but their chemistry and attraction is pretty clear right from the start.

Their relationship was definitely something that happened quick. They went from zero to a hundred. But during their relationship Liv has a secret she keeps from Topher knowing he wouldn't be happy when he found out. When her secret is dropped by someone else it ends their relationship. No pause or question. It ends as quick as it starts. However, that didn't surprise me and made perfect sense. I may not have agreed with all of Topher's reasons, but I knew why he was mad about the secret. I didn't agree with Liv hiding things but I did kind of understand her reasons behind it.

When Liv comes back to town almost a year later things are bad between them. Topher is a jerk to her and everyone around. While it's clear he is because he's not over her, he goes about it the wrong way. Liv comes back trying to prove her strength and independence. She no longer wants to have a security blanket. She needs to know she can live life on her own. I respect and understand that need.

Just like their relationship the first time around the second time everything happens quick. I think it happens quicker because of some events that happen that cause Topher to get his head out of his butt.

Misty Walker had me hooked on Topher and Liv. I loved everything about this book and it was such an amazing introduction to Walker. She has me dying to go back and see what else she has to offer. Cop-Out is a 5 star addicting read!

This story was really passionate, a journey full of emotion with a hint of luxury and very hot pleasure.
Cop-Out was something new and full of steam, where we met Liv, the young woman who suffers abusive violence from her father at home, a young woman who had her dreams and achievements taken away when she broke down in the face of so much brutality, more Liv even over everything that she knocking hard she clung to the hope that one day her life would change, until the young policeman knocked on her door and everything that the young woman who lived about fear found herself willing to change.
Years goes by and Liv has a chance to start over and conquer her desire to become a police officer in order to help those who pass or have been through the same as she but she ends up being in a hurry in the arms of the blue-eyed policeman and a hot body , but what Liv didn’t expect was that her world would turn upside down and she would have to decide between her dreams or her love for Topher.
Does Liv stick to her dreams? Did Topher support Liv even after all she was through?

Again Misty surprised me by making me turn each page in order to learn more and more about what this story had to reveal to us.
Liv is my hero even for the past she has stood her ground and followed her dreams. Topher won my heart even though such a hot and wild guy had a huge heart.
For you who like alpha males and strong heroines like me. Cop-Out was a real emotion that made me support Topher and Liv a lot.
I recommend this book.

Cop Out

I now have a new appreciation for cops 😉.
Cop Out by Author Misty Walker was a very enjoy read although I must warn you it does have a few triggers.

Liv was saved in more ways then one in the middle of the night by Joe a police officer who took her under his wing and with the help of his mother Joyce and alot of love and kindness and patience helped Liv get back on her feet again. A few years on she is older, wiser and after intense therapy and martial arts and self defence classes she is able to persue her dreams of becoming a cop she wants to help people who have been and still are in situations that she was once in.

Topher is a cop, a good one he's alpha , good looking , kind and is in love with Liv she works as a dispatch controller at the police station and He finally gets the nerv to ask her out on a date soon one date leads to two and then four and before they realise it they are in love and leading a happy life. But Liv has a secret that could tear them apart will they be able to move on once the truth is revealed or will Topher make a huge mistake and let her go ?
I really enjoyed this book the highs and lows of each character and the friendships that flourish between the individual characters . The protective streak between Joe and Topher and the love that Joyce has for Liv is beautiful to see . I would love to read more from this author in the future and I give this book five stars.

Living her 18 years of life with her abusive drunk father, Liv survive and life her life day by day towards her dream. To be a police woman. To able to help other like when she was saved. To be an every day hero. Not even love for the man who break her wall could make her let go of her dream. But will Topher, the man who's always be an Alpha, a cop who know the dangerous in the field, a man who only wants his woman to be safe, could overcome his hero complex and accept Liv's dream come true?
Will their both strong hearted and will, become the very thing that separate them?

I like how Misty bring out this story. A victim of child abuse survive the world when people care to look and help, we need that in real life. I'm glad the author didn't put too much details on the abuse, cause child abuse is always a hard limit for me.

I like the conflict between the main characters. There's no white and black between their strong opinion. I like how Misty put the conflict as real as can be cause it's no secret the dangerous being a cop and how hard to be couple with both of them in uniform. It's all comes back to acceptance and living your life the best so you can come home safe to your love ones.

The steamy scenes are 🔥🔥🔥
The dirty talks are DIRTY 🔥🔥🔥
The side characters need to have their own story.
Love the ending how Liv handle her dad
Usually the police man with his cuff on are hot. But dangit, imagine Liv with her confident and ability in her uniform, that's super 🔥🔥🔥
