I love how K. Lynn Smith draws people, and this grumpy/sunshine paranormal road trip graphic novel series hit all the right notes for me. Rayne seems to be a hippie chick on a wander, but she's got a lot more going on than it initially appears. Thatcher is running not just from other people, but from his own guilt, but he'll be damned (more) if he'll admit it. I thought the resolution moment towards the end was simple and perfect. And darkly funny.

Bonus: the male MC is bi, and a bit slutty about it (love this), and that has literally nothing to do with him being cursed.

This series is complete in three volumes, or one omnibus edition. Available direct from the author.

You want to read this one. This graphic novel is a strange breath of fresh air. Since it is volume 1 we just get a bit of an introduction, a taste. And I'm very interested to see where it's going. The dialogue between the two main characters is full of humor and like that of best friends; teasing and playful. The illustrations are clean and the colors pop; so visually it’s very appealing. I would recommend this quick read. It contains a bit of profanity and there are some suggestive themes.

I really enjoyed the story. It was very interesting. The whole thing finished up a little too quickly in my opinion.

The characters are very realistic people within today’s world they’re not idolized. They’re shown to have their own problems, which is very refreshing. I really enjoyed this story. I don’t regret buying any of the volumes I just wish I had gotten physical copies.

Beautiful art style, witty banter, comical lines and scenes, and character growth/exploration with realistic themes mixed with fantasy. 😍 I absolutely love this series! I bought it (and the rest of the volumes) at my local Pride event and have zero regret!!

K Lynn Smith can do no wrong!! I backed her graphic novel, Afterglow, on Kickstarter. I knew when the For Goodness Sake Kickstarter launched, I would pledge. I backed this graphic novel back in March of this year, but I was saving this as a graphic novel read for Fall. This was so freaking good. I'm sad because I missed the campaign for her second graphic novel in the series, but I'm hoping she will add this volume to her website where I can purchase it there.

For Goodness Sake follows Thatcher, a cursed demon who's committing petty crimes because he can. He's almost hit on his motorcycle by Rayne Waters, a woman who modified a school bus to travel the US in with her dog, Copilot. Rayne invites Thatcher on her bus as they drive around the US. Eventually, Rayne begins to break down Thatcher's harsh personality and the two decide to break Thatcher's curse once and for all.

This was SO good. I don't have any negative things to say. The writing was superb. Thatcher and Rayne have this great dialogue with each other. I'm also glad that Representation is so important! In such a short four-volume book, I get to learn about Rayne's background and why she is traveling the US. There are glimpses at Thatcher and how he may have been cursed. This is challenging to do in a four-issue graphic novel. I related to Rayne's story with She realizes life is so short.

K Lynn's art has such a unique style. I like the art showing Rayne and Thatcher exploring Vegas and Yellowstone. Copilot is adorable and I love how Copilot warms up to Thatcher right away.

I wish I would have backed the second volume on Kickstarter, I'm so bummed. For Goodness Sake is such a great series and if you haven't read it yet, you can purchase it on K Lynn's website.
