A definite suspenseful story. TSU Kim is now trained in Espionage. Her first assignment is to find a Russian scientist and his daughter. A gripping story that has you guessing as to the end. Loved it.

Tsu: Desert Heat - a review by Rosemary Kenny

The action is red-hot from page one of David F. Berens and John Hopton's new series opener, Tsu: Desert Heat, a Tsu Kim Spy Thriller, Book 1, as we 'see' the violent kidnap of South Korean biologist Hwan Jeung and his daughter Yu-mi, in broad daylight from an Istanbul Street cafe, by brazen unmasked enemies.

In Seoul, Tsu Kim, an agent for the South Korean Intelligence Service is on a dinner date, when she's summoned to the Director's office. There she's told she's graduated ahead of time, then (after a token protest from him), sent first to Turkey then into the UAE desert, to retrieve the father and daughter from a Maharaja's palace, before it's too late.

With one ally agent killed literally before her eyes, a second who abandoned her in the desert and a possible mole or double-agent in the NIS, Tsu's first mission would deter either James Bond or Ethan Hunt, with its gritty, life-or-death fight scenes and shatteringly close-call completion of the rescue mission, in which her involvement has been denied by her boss at the NIS.
What's on the slip of paper the Director gives Tsu after telling her she's sacked?
Where will the feisty do-or-die agent go now?
Is her spy career over just as it got started?

This book starts a great new series.

Tsu was introduced in Berens' previous Chris Collins' CIA thriller, Rogue Enemy. But who is she?

Tsu is an agent for South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS) who had recently completed her training.

After convincing her boss that she speaks three languages used in Turkey, she is off to her first mission. And that mission is to retrieve a Korean scientist and his daughter who were kidnapped by unknown parties.

The adventure really gets started after Tsu arrives in Istanbul. Then, after obtaining a leads to the possible kidnappers, she is off to Dubai, then the desert of India.

So read this exciting story and find out if Tsu completes her first mission.

TSU: Desert Heat (A Tsu Kim Spy Thriller Book 1) by David F. Berens and John Hopton is a top notch beginning to a thrilling series. Tsu is the top CIA trainee sent on her first mission without field experience mainly because of her never quite attitude. When the situation changes and she's ordered to leave the kidnapped scientist and his daughter, she is intent on successfully completing her assignment, regardless.

A Korean scientist and his daughter are kidnapped in Istanbul. Tsu Kim, an agent that was at the top of her class is sent to rescue the pair. She gets inside the building where they are being held. Then she gets orders to abort the mission. Tsu is trained in combat. This novel is a thriller with a lot of action.

Tsu's first job in espionage almost turned into a disaster. Anything that could go wrong did. Tsu, however, is not one to give up, not when there is a young girl and her father to be saved.
Lots of fighting scenes and very interesting methods of fighting! For those who like action thrillers they will definitely like this book and the others in the series.

Tsu's origin story follows her on her first assignment as a South Korean agent. The authors have packed this short tale with plenty of action, and a few unforeseen twists. This is a book to read if you enjoy spy thrillers. I received and Advance Reader Copy and chose to provide this review.

I was really disappointed. This book did not live up to what I have come to expect from David Berens. Although entertaining, it seemed to be a cross between Pixar and a 70's Bruce Lee movie.

Desert Heat is the start of the story of Agent Tsu Kim.  Her first mission is just a preview of what is to come.  She has all the skills necessary to be a top character.  The action and suspense are always a part of David's books.  I know that if you like plenty of action and a book that keeps you interested, then you will for certain like Desert Heat.

Fantastic introduction to a new series…

This story chronicles the first assignment of a newly minted spy, Tsu Kim, who has recently completed her grueling training with the NIS (National Intelligence Service) of South Korea. As an unseasoned operative hungry to make her mark, she is ready to singlehandedly take on the incredibly wealthy and powerful Maharaja Bhardwaj and his entire private army in his Rajasthani palace in order to rescue a kidnapped Korean scientist and his daughter. The pace is relentless, the action is non-stop, and the plot is captivating as Tsu must negotiate obstacles both physical and political to accomplish her objective. If you have been following the Chris Collins CIA Thriller series by these authors (which I highly recommend), you will remember Tsu from Shanghai Crossfire. This book, however, affords a much more in-depth exploration of this complex and fascinating character who deserves her own series and I believe that all armchair adventure junkies will, like me, be eagerly anticipating each installment as fast as the authors can dream them up. Buckle up for some pedal to the metal adventure!

I was provided with an advance copy of this book from one of the authors but I am voluntarily offering my honest and unbiased review.
