All five steamy novelettes in the Victors of the Fornix series!
Sexy gladiators. A determined woman. A hidden world beneath Ancient Rome’s Colosseum.
Sold to an illustrious brothel beneath the Colosseum, Valentina’s favors are reserved for the brutal gladiators who survive the emperor’s games. But not all of them are violent beasts. Some are tempting. Some are surprisingly sensuous. And one of them is Valentina’s true love, Marcellus, sold to the Ludus Magnus two months ago. The next victorious gladiator who walks through the fornix’s door could be Marcellus, and Valentina lives in hope of seeing him, of perhaps one day leaving this place with him. But will he appreciate all she has learned of pleasure, or will he despise her for what she has become?
Cara is an author, reader, and history lover. She reads and writes across genres, but her heart is reserved for romantic historical fiction and mystery. Her Bow Street Duchess books are fast-paced historical mysteries featuring a slow-burn romance taking place in Regency London. The series begins with Murder at the Seven Dials. Cara lives in rural New England with her family, where she is at work on her next series, the Spencer & Reid Mysteries.
I read the complete series boxset, and even though this genre isn't my normal go-to, I was absolutely blown away by how amazing the story was (all the stories in this series, honestly). Super sexy, super hot, super fun. These are quick, short pieces out together to create one story, and I'm thankful I got the boxset because I was frantically turning the pages to know what happened next.
Ms. Devlin definitely did her research on the time period. All the historical aspects were woven nicely within the story and didn't feel forced at all (which I tend to find a lot in historical stories). Even though the stories were short, they didn't feel that way.
I loved everything about this series. I'll be reading more from this author.
I LOVED this story! Featuring a heroine sold into slavery as a whore in old school Rome, this book was the perfect mix of sex and intrigue. The plot really carried this tale. I immediately fell in love with Valentina and my heart ached for her and her lost lover. Told from her point of view, I was completely invested in her journey and her sexual awakening as a pleasure slave for gladiators who won in the arena. This was an amazing read with something for everyone. I highly recommend this to any fans of Ancient Rome and erotica!
I read the first book and immediately downloaded the full box set because I absolutely love this author's writing! This an extremely well-written erotic story about Valentina's quest to be reunited with her love, Marcellus. Along the way, she has a sexual awakening that takes her through many twists and turns before she can find her HEA with her true love. The history is well-researched and Valentina's POV immerses you in the story. It's just a fantastic set of novellas and I enjoyed it immensely!
