She meant to call the help-line during a panic attack and accidentally dialed Jack Raze......

Prone to panic attacks, Rebecca dials the suicide hotline with an episode one night. After the person finally manages to talk her down, he informs her he isn't a hotline worker at all, he's David, a random man woken out of a dead sleep to a woman on the ledge.

After a bizarre and entertaining exchange, David realizes he doesn't want to stop talking to his new friend-- sweet and naive as they come. He convinces her she owes him at least a picture of herself for the inconvenience, and the moment he sees her, it's decided--he has to have her.

When he learns she's a book-a-holic, he divulges his profession as an erotic romance author-- Jack Raze-- who just so happens to be in dire need of a new editor. As fate would have it, it's her dream job come true, but for David, or in this case Jack Raze, she's an erotic fantasy he's been craving to indulge in.

I’m a husband and author, and I may be a little religious about both. I like writing hot sex and encapsulating it in the delicate white silk of devotion, commitment, and psychotic obsession.

2,5✨ (english at the end)

e pra me deixar mais triste o plot “wrong number” acontece durante 3 páginas.

-
“wrong number” has a lot of sex scenes (bdsm) but that’s it. i felt like the author could developed everything around the book a little bit more. and the “i called the wrong guy” plot it happened for like 3 pages ??? so yeah, that’s a no for me

I do not think I have ever wanted to change my name to Lizzy and dial up a wrong number as much as I would like to right now.

You will need an air conditioner on when you read this book as it is a scorcher! Lizzy and Jack’s chemistry is off the charts thanks to the wonderful writing style of Lucian Bane.

Lucian truly puts great emotion into his characters. I could feel Lizzy’s anxiety and unease as I was reading. Jack at first made me want to punch my kindle. I thought he was going to be the king of all slimeballs. Thankfully, he won me over. I also cannot forget about Auntie. Such a great motherly figure who genuinely wants the best for Lizzy. We should all have a family member like her looking out for us in our life.

I highly recommend this book. Those who enjoy a sexy read with some mystery, laughs, a touch of sadistic tendencies and an HEA will thoroughly enjoy Wrong Number.

I think I can describe this book with just two words: PURE SMUT . Seriously though, if you remove all the steamy moments there are about 20-30 pages left. Regardless, I liked the writing style, it was smooth and I would have loved it if it was actually a novel and not an erotic story. I love my heroes twisted! Just perfect!

Wickedly sensual.. Deliciously hot..
The characters were fun to read and the storyline moved together beautifully and the sexy hot scenes.. Whew!
I’m just sharing a small section of a quote that called to me..
“It was etched on every surface and crevice. It was all just as he’d promised. She was owned by him.”
This author has the words and in some cases.. can really touch your heart.

This is a story that starts a fiery inferno right from the start. And there is no letting up. You are introduced to the main characters Lizzy and Mr Raze with a simple wrong number call We should all be so lucky to have that problem. Manipulation that turns to a beautiful love story, with a couple more twists to keep you on your toes. Mr Lucian Bane has a talent for creating characters that have flaws seem perfectly matched with others in the heart and soul.

A wrong number dialed changed her life forever. Lizzy did not know what she would be getting into when she dialed the sexy romance writer Jack Raze by mistake.

He offered her all wildest dreams come true, but with that came consequences, secrets and steamy desires that she could never imagine.

Mark my words you will need a cold shower or two! Lucian Bane does not disappoint!

Mistake #1: My expectations coming into this were too high.

I was really tempted and curious about the plot that I couldn't help but pick it up. And it was good at the beginning. Then when chapter 7 and beyond rolled around, I lost interest. I realized I didn't care about Liz or David. And then when chapter 12 rolled around, I was about to call it quits. I was already over 50% done it, so I'd rate it and move on. I don't know what possessed me to stick around, but I did and finished it. Didn't do it any favours.

David always talked about all the kinky sex he wanted, but he never really did anything super kinky. Sure, a tiny kinky, but nothing like sticking—what was it? A cucumber?—a cucumber up Liz's ass and eating it after. It was the basic kinky little stuff.

Liz acted really young. Like early twenties. The running away bit is a classic cliche too. Good thing David didn't let her leave.

See, the thing about smut... it's hard to discuss with people who don't read it. Trust me, I know. I love smut. I read it a lot. Most of my friends though, do not. Most of those friends don't even know I read it. So yeah, I get it.

I think this would've been better as a novella.

I received a free ARC (advanced reviewer's copy) of this book from Booksprout. This is my honest review.

I'm conflicted on this one - I liked the overview and thought it was light romance/erotica. It's actually a high-energy (light) BDSM sex romp that moves along at a good pace, but has some quite dark and non-consensual elements I wasn't prepared for. My bad for not doing research on m. Bane before accepting the ARC. Their Goodfreads profile Lucian Banemakes their speciality clear, I'll be more careful in future.

Having read the 'romance writer writing about about a romance writer character concerned about their character inception meme' before, it's always fun and Bane does it well. You do have to wonder how much of Bane is bleeding into Raze... and the reverse. What's really going to spin your noodle is when you start thinking about how much of Lance is in Raze, is in Bane. ...and the reverse. Where do the authors stop and the characters begin? For that matter where do you, the reader fit into this? You bought into this, so what does that say about you?

I really struggled straight away. I was captivated at first by the dynamic extended dialogue which goes on for two chapters but showcases the characters and introduces them and their foibles in a natural and engaging flow. Bravo to Bane for doing so well here and not falling to some pedestrian filler dialogue. Each playful line shines and illuminates the characters, as well as building the inevitable tension.

...and then my suspension of disbelief was shattered when she voluntarily gives a total stranger her date of birth, full name, almost her address (why not throw in your SSN and CCV and accept identity theft forever while you're at it?) and then agrees to turn up at a random address for unspecified 'work' at $35/hr which I gather is far above the average wage. Yeah, nah, not buying that scenario - it screams 'rape dungeon and shallow grave' to most women, they will never give you that info. By strange coincidence I am cold-calling right now as part of government work with proof of relationship credentials, I can barely get people to even answer a call or text, and they are incredibly wary of releasing any personal information. I don't buy this.

I also don't buy the beautiful-virgin-with-suppressed-passions/loveruined-debauched-kinkmaster stereotype - I don't believe that no-one has tried or succeeded with her or that she's that repressed, nor he so damaged and unapproachable. Not in this age of G/Tinder and very early experimentation. Nor how she goes from bookish virgin to full-on dungeon escapades. I guess we just have to accept this one as a premise. Bane does do considerable work to expand on this and actually slows down the action later to follow up and fill in the missing parts. I do accept from personal experience that Lizzy's history can produce that effect also and goes to some length to explain why the leads act the way they do. Sometimes life is just weird and strange. And broken.

Similarly, although I must give m. Bane considerable credit for repeated honorable formal consent requests, but there's some darker and unsafe behaviour/control issues from David which I believe is not kink-community supported and shouldn't be glorified. I totally get that's it's fantasy but there are still boundaries. I am concerned people might cross that line between fantasy and reality if this is their introduction or believe it's a thing.
(Side related note: Lots of guys seem to think from bad examples that choking/surprise anal during sexytimes is de rigueur, protip guys: It's rare and found only in special and trusted relationships. Most women hate it and you're messing them up and every other guy they meet by trying it. Try listening and talking instead.)

On the pro side, this story has hot hot hot scenes and seduction, and really well written dialogue with imaginative descriptive variation that's carries the action along without ever feeling awkward or forced. If you're into control and sub-dom, it's great, it just goes on and on and on and on, with inventive twists and turns in the sexcapades that build and build until their inevitable and satisfying conclusion. Highly recommended on that side. Other parts like that scene with Scotty are really unnecessary and feel quite weak, rushed and less genuine compared to the stronger relationship between Lizzy and David.

Ultimately, it was a good read and although I slightly dropped rating because of the above elements in my biased opinion, in the end they are part of the story and m. Bane's métier, and incontrovertibly intertwined.

Congratulations m. Bane on making me confront several aspects of myself I really don't normally hold up to the light, but perhaps it's better that way rather than shamefully hiding them away. I salute you.

To Right a Terrible Wrong!
by sewsummore

David was an author of erotic fiction for women, yet he was a man with no female in his life apart from his stepsister, who was also his editor. He wrote about romance, but there was no romance in his life, only convenient call girls when the need arose. Then late at night, he received a wrong-number call that changed his life. A woman who was prone to panic attacks called, her name was Becky, and she was close to hysterical, fearing she had taken an overdose. Becky thought she was talking to the helpline operator, and after she calmed down, they continued to chat. It was while they were talking about his career as a writer and his need an editor. When he learned she was an editor, he offered her a job starting the next day. That was the beginning of a beautiful relationship. He had felt drawn to Becky while talking to her; in the flesh, he was captivated. He taught her control and obedience, while her honesty and beauty drove him mad with desire. I enjoyed reading this book, David and Becky had chemistry between them that was both intense and controlling. However, Becky had a painful past that needed to be expunged, and David intended to ensure that the guilty paid for their crimes. The only thing missing from this book was an epilogue telling of their future!

There are two possible ways for me to review this book:
1)✭✭✭✭ - Enjoyed it a lot, I really liked the characters and/or the story, and would defiantly recommend it.
2)✭✭✭ - The story and characters were all right. It was an enjoyable read, but it just didn't grip me.

The story begins in a serious vein but our H has a snarky, darker, slightly bent side that lends humor to deescalate the situation. This led me to believe I would eat up this story. Side note: puns not necessarily intended.
With many of this author's work sex drives the story. Not just vanilla but BDSM, Dom/Sub play. I will be the first to admit I am not an authority on these subjects BUT 50 Shades Ain't Got Nothing on Lucian Bane. Hot and Steamy is the bread and butter.
Yet there is a story here. Two lost souls. One more lost than the other. Finding power both micro and macro via control in their Dom/Sub BDSM play.

My biggest negative is after the start, once sexy times started, it was very 50 Shads-esque. Characters: rich sexy H, naive innocent h. Contract because...well, both had contracts with limits etc... Thankfully the writing was 100% better.
Yes these characters had personal obstacles to overcome so that they could feel controlled and empowered in their lives and with each other. I guess technically I would give 3.5 stars so I will round up to 4 stars.

I wish I was as eloquent as Lucien Bane writing this review but sadly I am not. The first impression I got from the first few pages was that Lizzy was young and bit over the top but very good with the English Language. David meanwhile came over as a young ordinary person but helpful and accommodating whilst Lizzy was having her panic attack. Wrong. Lizzy was quite outspoken and said the first thing that came into her mind. David was quite another kettle of fish. He was all in control and totally alpha. I had to laugh out loud when she was reading the manuscript to the book it was totally funny and I just loved Lizzy's character. Now David was very up front in the sex department and this brings me deliciously to talk about the sex. There was plenty of it! Now sometimes when I read a book and there is sex on every page I do tend to go sex blind and skip a few pages. This was not the case in this one. Oh no. Although there was plenty of raunchy sex it was in context if you know what I mean and this brought out the inner characters. There was also a good story running through and the retribution at the end was totally delicious. A thoroughly enjoyable read and I recommend it wholeheartedly to those who like a darkish sexy story.

I am voluntarily writing this review for this book I received through Booksprouts arc.

David gets woken up in the middle of the night by someone named Becky who was having a panic attack. After telling him the whole story she finds out that she accidentally called the wrong phone number. Lizzy and David start talking about things and he offered her a job editing his books. Little does she know what type of books he writes. David (Jack ) kept testing Lizzie doing different things including giving her a massage. He was giving Lizzy want she or he wanted to give. Lizzie was a Virgin an David knew he needed to take his time even though he was ready to explode. David wanted her to sign a contract that she will be with him a year to be his submissive slave. Lizzie has been thinking what would happen after a year. Lizzie went to live with David she also liked she worked there also. Lisa, David’s stepsister went to see him and Lizzy heard them laughing and when she walked in on them it made her sick all she wanted was out of his house. David knew he had screwed up and turned off the elevator so she could not leave. He had lied to Lizzy about a lot of things but she also kept secrets from him too. Will the two ever get together or will Lisa come between them?

There were equally as many pros as there were cons for this book. While the author's writing is excellent, the turn that the story took away the enjoyment that I had. The characters each became shallow and weak in their own way. David's jealous possessiveness became hard to read and take seriously. Lizzie just came across and young and vapid. While the story was interesting enough to keep me reading, I can't say that it compelled me to read more of this author's works.

Pros
Plot - Fun (even when not quite believable)
Sex Scenes - hot and well written
Writing - Lucian Bane has a really nice writing style. He is able to keep the pacing even enough to keep the story interesting

Cons
Lisa, Scott, and torture scene - totally unnecessary to the entire story
Sex - For someone who is supposed to be so "dark" sexually, David is pretty tame in his desires
Auntie and Uncle - totally unnecessary to the entire story. All the side characters are superfluous. Remove all of them and the story between Lizzie and David stands on it's own.
Lying - the fact that the main characters constantly lied to one another began to grate on my nerves.

As always Lucian Bane knows how to make the unspeakable become a fun reality. He brings fantasy to life!
I am a huge fan of Lucian Bane, his writing, the plot, and the chemistry between the main characters are always on point and it often builds up naturally.
This is an amazing storyline but for some reason, compared to lucian's other books, this is not my favorite. Some of the days felt very long, super long that I still wondered if I missed that it was a different day until the book proves that it was the same day. Then some days could not go fast enough and I'm left to wonder what more could have happened on those particular days. The ending also felt rushed, I get the revenge but still, David probably should have involved/told Lizzy if they were supposed to tell each other everything, how did the story end with Lisa after the fact, what about Uncle Bart and Aunty?
Overall, this was a good read. If you've never read a Lucian Bane book then this is a perfect 100. If you have read his book you might be left wanting more because he's always given us more.

For the most part, I liked this story. It was entertaining even though there were several things I wasn't comfortable with. The characters turned out to be pretty awesome (again, for the most part). I'm glad that Lisa and Scott received some comeuppance for their actions against David and Lizzy. I'm not really a fan of BDSM books and if I'd realized that was part of this book, I wouldn't have read it and that would have made me miss out on a good story. There are things that I'm not comfortable with, in it but I didn't feel like it was all BDSM and no other relationship. David (Mr. Raze) came off to me as not really sure that what he wanted was "normal". Lizzy (Becky) didn't feel like she deserved good things so even if he ended up being a serial killer, she was going to chance it. I felt like you could tell that they were in love with each other a lot sooner than they did. I liked how the story ended, but I would have liked an epilogue because I'm greedy like that. I recommend reading this book.

I was drawn into the characters of David and Lizzie as I read their opening conversation when she woke him from a dead sleep after misdialing the suicide hotline during a panic attack. After David calms her down, she should have known something was up when he conned her in to sending him pictures of herself. He convinces her to start working for him the next day as an editor, her dream job, and she goes. It surprised me, really, because she knew nothing about him other than his first name, the address he texted her, and that he was going to pay her a lot of money to do a job she’d never done before. It sounded fishy, but she just went with it. As the book continued, David begins to understand Lizzie and why she would take such a chance like that with her life, jumping into the unknown with a stranger. Lizzie’s dealt with a lot in her life, and the question is can David do what all of her therapists couldn’t...help Lizzie deal with her problems.

Can I say that I was shocked that a man wrote this? All my fantasies and come to find out a man's mind can be just as dirty and descriptive - two very important must haves for a very good kinky read.
I want you to know that I'm not trying to be sexist in any way. This story was eye-opening for me. It wasn't smut with bimbos and short sentences. It was well-thoughtout and the characters had depth. Even the scenes for the characters were not only steamy but so very descriptive that you were there with David (Jake) and Lizzy (Beth).
I loved how real and authentic they felt too. Some of the things that David went through as a writer makes me wonder if he goes through some of it, hmmmm 🤔🤔🤔🤔??? So folks, this is a super cute, steamy read that you definitely want to wait to read at home (be careful listen ing to it at work as I can attest to 😂😂).

Who knew misdialing a help line could turn into so much fun - Lucian Bane that's who!! The main characters Lizzy and David/Jack Raze I absolutely loved them. Their interactions were written so well - from that first misdialed conversation to the first meeting, which was so 50 Shades lol, to all the others in the book - their connection just sprung off the pages of the book.
Izzy has some issues for sure - of course she would have to - to call a help line, it does take a bit to really get into what those are but once you know oh, what a punch to the heart! I was in a state of awe over how David handled her coming out - brought tears to my eyes and goose bumps to my skin - he was amazing!! As for some of the minor characters - I do wish there was a bit more to them - especially Lisa/Scott - but other than that - this was a good read and you won't be disappointed!

I read this book with high expectations thinking it was something different than what it was but I cant say it was bad, It's just set to a particular persons taste.
Becky/Lizziy- A woman who has always played it safe works a simple job, lives alone and has a limited social life accidentally dials the wrong number trying to reach the hotline during an anxiety attack and gets more than she bargained for when author Jack Raze answers the phone.
Jack Raze- A man who writes "romantica" as he calls it with a particular interest in his women develops an interest in Lizzy one she may not be ready for. This book has a lot to grab your attention and is worth reading all the way through if you happen get disinterested.

Wrong Number is a riveting story of Lizzy who calls the wrong number when she has a panic attack. Instead, she gets David aka Mr. Raze who falls into lust with her quirkiness. The chemistry between Lizzy and David was steamy hot as were their intimate scenes. One of the best parts of this was the conversations between the two, often making me smile or laugh. There were also a lot of heart-breaking moments in the story, as well as some cringe-worthy parts. This book was entertaining from start to finish as David and Lizzy had to navigate through lies, past hurts, family and an assortment of misunderstanding to reach their HEA. Wrong Number is definitely a book you will want to read!

Wrong Number started out well with Lizzy calling David during a panic attack. Thinking she has called a suicide prevention counselor, an odd conversation ensues and the reader is drawn into the story. David finds her intriguing and they begin a d/s relationship. The book then begins a copy cat combination of The Secretary and Fifty Shades. The author also can't seem to decide what to call the characters. Lizzy is known to the hotline as Becky and David is known to his readers as Jack. The names are often switched for no particular reason throughout the book. If you are unfamiliar with these well known BDSM stories, you might like Wrong Number. If you do know them, stick with the originals.

What I love about Lucian Bane’s work is how the plot lines are just deeply well written and let me tell you that Wrong Number does not disappoint!
When Lizzy dials the wrong number David answers, he is a romance writer that goes by the name Jack Raze, this sets off a domino effect of passion, secrets and self-discovery. The twist and turns that Lizzy and David/Jack take during this story is absolutely heartbreaking at times yet just when you think you can’t take it anymore Lucian takes a different turn and bam you find yourself cheering.
This story will give you all the feels and leave you understanding why LB is the best!

This was my first novel by this author, but wow! If all of his novels are this amazing, it will not be my last! In just the first few pages I was already in love with both David and Lizzy! There were times I wanted to scream at one or both of the characters, but they kept surprising me. The story was unlike any story I have read and there was more than a couple twists throughout the story, some I expected, others I did not. This story has a little of everything: steam erotic sex, great characters who grow throughout the story, and a little darkness that I won't be the one to spoil for you!

Wrong Number, right author!

Ok...just finished this book for the second time. I obviously loved it, because it just came out in April and I've already read it twice. It has all the things you can expect from a Lucian Bane book:

Great writing ✔
Lovable, quirky characters ✔
Scorching hot sex✔
Wrong-doing and retribution✔
Humor ✔
Cliffhangers...NOT THIS TIME!! Woohoo!

Also, the beginning of this book has some of the most engaging dialogue I've ever read!! I laughed like a loon, pretty much non-stop through the first two chapters. My only critique is that the ending felt a little rushed, but that didn't take away from the whole package enough to warrant a lesser rating. I highly recommend this book.

Wrong Number is my first read by Lucian Bane and I loved it. Lizzy and David's story is erotic, passionate, and beautiful. There's a bit of humor and a ton of steam. The writing is great and the likable characters have incredible chemistry. It doesn't delve into David's background much but Lizzy's heartbreaking back story certainly explains the panic attacks that lead her to David through a misdialed phone number. I was completely captivated by this erotic love story and look forward to reading more by this author.
