She should have just been a cheer-camp hookup, but fate decided to toss Echo Rosenthal back into my life ten years later. She coaches the Heartwood Bulldogs, the squad that beat my Corsica Tigers at the New England Cheer Championships. Now we’re both headed to Nationals and I have one thing on my mind: revenge.
My squad is fired up and ready to go—until the Rosedale High School gym burns down. Guess who has to host them for practices a month before Nationals? Now I, Kiri Kentwood, am forced into even closer proximity to Echo and she’s really starting to get on my nerves, not to mention she’s in ridiculous shape and can still do a standing full. Bitch. I can’t decide which is worse, that I want to ram a set of poms down her throat, or that I want to shove my tongue in her mouth.
As the pressure builds toward Nationals, I can’t get her out of my mind and, after a huge argument, we end up right back where we started: in bed.
We’re headed for a battle, and I don’t know which one of us is going to come out on top, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to lose to her again: on the mat or off.
Chelsea M. Cameron is a New York Times/USA Today/Internationally Best Selling author from Maine who now lives and works in Boston. She's a red velvet cake enthusiast, obsessive tea drinker, former cheerleader, and world's worst video gamer. When not writing, she enjoys watching infomercials, eating brunch in bed, tweeting, and playing fetch with her cat, Sassenach. She has a degree in journalism from the University of Maine, Orono that she promptly abandoned to write about the people in her own head. More often than not, these people turn out to be just as weird as she is.
Cute and I liked that it was about cheerleading coaches but I got bored quickly and started skimming by the end. Also, super instalovey but that seems to be a given in f/f lol
I love Cameron’s books, because I can depend on them to have: - Fun characters - Excellent chemistry and sexy times - Zero angst
Bring Her On delivers on all three counts! Plus, it has the same level of antagonism between the leads that I enjoyed in Anyone but You, but with new characters I could fall in love with.
This was a fun fast read. If you are in the mood for a quick sexy romp or just something to put you in a good mood this book is great. It maybe was a little light on plot, but it’s straightforward earnestness felt realistic and I appreciated that there were no contrived misunderstandings just adults figuring out if they can work
i really wanted to like it, but i just really didn’t like the writing style and i felt like there wasn’t much happening and characters felt flat. the biggest reason i didn’t dnf was because of how infrequently i find wlw romance books, especially for adults.
WARNING! THIS STEAMY LITERATURE HAS A LOT OF CUTE AND FUNNY SCENES WITH TWO CUTE LESBIANS!
I liked this book. But "Bring her on" is not a Chelsea M Cameron's great work. My past read literature by her were a lot better. And with writing skills and with plot. However, the main plot of this book was so much entertaining, about cheerleaders competition. And I think, the competition, rehearsal, teaching scenes were much lighter and interesting, rather than love storyline. Regardless I won't lower tension and passion between Echo Rosenthal and Kiri Kentwood.
There is a plenty of humor in this book too. I laughed in some jokes, like really hard. Thanx for that Chelsea.
PS:CMC really good at writing beautiful, funny and easy love stories.
Fav scenes/lines:
“Okay, everyone at the same time. Energy eleven.” I clapped my hands and they all smiled as shot in the ass with a sunshine dart.
Part of me considered dropping all my responsibilities and getting on a plane at least once a day. Sometimes you just needed your parents, even if you were fully grown.
The only way to make them see what they were doing was to show them what they were doing.
I had to be classy, not assy.
“I’m grateful for all of you, I’m grateful that Mack wasn’t more seriously hurt, and I’m grateful for my three cats.” They all laughed because I literally always said that I was grateful for my cats. I actually had a social media account for them that all my cheerleaders followed and they were always commenting on the pictures. It was really cute.
Can you go outside right now? My stomach dropped into my feet. You’re not going to be on my lawn waiting to stab me or declare your undying love, are you? I was part joking, part serious. You couldn’t be too careful. No, I promise. Just go outside. Curious, and still a little nervous, I went outside. Okay, now what? Look up. I did and gasped. It was a full moon. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky and the moon absolutely glowed. It’s a blue moon, she sent after a few moments. It is. It’s beautiful. I doubt I would have noticed it if it wasn’t for Echo drawing my attention to the sky.
“Do you ever wonder if cats think about why we wear clothes? Or if they just think we change our fur?” Echo asked, as I mined the fridge and pantry for sustenance.
“I can lend you some clothes, but I think you might break my shirts,” I said. “That’s okay, I don’t want to Hulk your clothes.”
We’re such a part of each other’s lives for such a short time and then it’s over. And it will never be the same.”
Echo made me feel like kissing was new, something I’d just discovered, and not a thing I’d been doing for years.
I can’t make them understand that just because someone else is a lesbian, doesn’t mean we’re meant to be together.”
I leaned over and gathered her in my arms. She was so strong, but even strong people needed someone to lean on sometimes.
“Come on, let’s go practice making a baby.” I gave her a look. “Do we need to talk about how babies are made?”
4⭐️ Okay.. I fucking loved this. That’s all I really have to say about it. Other than I felt it could’ve been a little longer because the ending seemed a little rushed through. I just really connected with this with whole cheer aspect, and it was just so freakin good.
Kiri’s plans to focus on getting her high school cheer squad ready for a big championship take a massive tumble when she’s forced to share a practice space with a rival squad coached by Echo Rosenthal, the woman she has a brief, but hot and heavy history with. Tensions are high between the two, but the antagonism may just be concealing an even more distracting attraction.
Bring Her On is a funny and quirky second chance romance. Kiri is hilarious in her prickly attempts to ignore her reignited feelings for Echo and hang onto a years’ long grudge. The chemistry between them is hot from the start and it only gets steamier as they spend more time together. The drama between the couple is charmingly offset by entertaining secondary characters, especially Dom, Kiri’s friend and assistant coach. In addition, the excitement and angst of the cheerleading world serves as a fun and fast-paced setting.
2 high school cheerleaders week long camp hookup tests, twists, teases & taunts them a decade later as the head coaches of rival schools preparing their teams to compete at Nationals. Very cute story, like Bring It On: Adult aka The Coaches (hence the title & movie mentions & references!) that's heavily cheer-centered considering the characters don't actually cheer, just coach. Not deep, emotional or complex, but for sure its entertaining & interesting to be enjoyed.
“I was such a sucker for pretty women, and all women were pretty. It was a dilemma.”
26 year old Kiri Kentwood has spent the last few year as head coach to the Corsica Tigers cheerleaders. She has goals on top of goals for her squad. After losing to their rivals during state, they have another chance to come out on top at nationals. With only one month to prepare, Kiri vows to have no distractions. But no one anticipated the gym to Rosedale HS would be burnt down or that 26 year old Echo Rosenthal would be bringing her squad to use their practice space. Now Kiri had to figure out a way to stay away from the hot mean girl from her past.
Cute second chance. No drama which is sometimes appreciated. Not always needed.
My opinion of this book improved immensely when I realized there would be no angsty blow-up fight between the characters once they were together. Fun characters with little-to-no angst, what could be better? Except it was a little rushed, and could have used some padding out to make the pacing work better. The cheer sections were good (I assume, since I learned some terminology that I hope is right). I'm left wanting to read more from the author.
I wasn't a fan of the writing style of this book. It over explained itself in ways that were repetitive and didn't allow for me as the reader to figure it out myself/ read between the lines. It was a hard read and the characters weren't fleshed out enough for me. The character development was shortcut by the over explaining the character did about her actions and thoughts. It just didn't flow.
But it had some cute moments, not enough build up but an okay read to pass the time.
This is a fun light read based on the theme of reuniting with someone ten years after a brief intense summer fling. Kiri's willingness to hold a grudge indefinitely gets a little old after a couple of chapters but the angst is not too serious. The main characters achieve their HEA and, as an added bonus, it appears all of their cats get along as well.
Essentially a second chance romance between high school cheerleading coaches who used to hook up back in their high school days. The forced proximity elements worked well, and while I essentially gave zero fucks about the cheer competition aspect of the story and I would have liked to see some of the teen characters fleshed out a little more, this was decent.
Lovely read. Another great story from Chelsea M. Cameron, this one, though, about reluctantly opening ones heart to the possibilities of falling for ones old crush years after the relationship had been over.
Great read. Didn’t know anything about cheer before reading this. I do know it keeps you in shape. Good love scenes. I enjoyed all the characters in the book. Would recommend to friends.
It was quick and fun and not too serious. Exactly what I needed right now. No great angst and nothing too sad happened. Just a nice and predictable story. Perfect for my mood.
The beginning was really good and the story had potential but the last third of the book felt flat for me. Every challenges were resolved way to quickly. Still a book read for the summer
