Laguna Beach Cops #1

Fighting for Brielle

Rate this book
Forced to retire from the Navy after an ambush kills his SEAL team, former Lieutenant Commander Justice McQuaid is sent to Laguna Beach by the Secretary of State to be its newest chief of police. His mission is to investigate a possible domestic threat, though he questions why he was specifically chosen for this job, especially since he suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Nothing is going to deter Sergeant Brielle McAdams from achieving her goal of becoming a SWAT officer for the LAPD. But unless she can pass one final physical challenge, she’s out. When she meets Justice patrolling the beach, she finds herself drawn into his life and his investigation.

When Brielle goes missing, it is a race against time to rescue her from a madman. For Justice, this is a mission he cannot fail to complete. Losing his men and his career nearly destroyed him. But losing Brielle, the woman who holds his heart, will break him.

Rescuing her is his greatest mission.

Dee Stewart, you're killing me!

This book has more feels than any so far! There's a tormented Navy SEAL survivor, a prospective female SWAT team member, a plot to overthrow the government that could be taken right out of current headlines, brainwashing, kidnapping, and,of course, a heart-rending romance you'll never forget. Forget a box of tissues, you'll need to buy them by the gross! No book has affected me this much since Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux! Ms Stewart is a writer that will go down with the classics! And you can quote me on that!

Dee Steward has weaved an intricate and suspenseful storyline that will keep you turning the page to find out what happens next. Justice is a sexy Navy Seal that has just been made the Chief of Police in Laguna Beach. A consummate gentleman, he believes in getting to know a woman before jumping into bed with her. Brielle is a feisty, spitfire training to be SWAT that has Justice wishing he wasn't such an honorable guy. You won't find a pushover heroine here, and I loved that! Sparks fly between these two from the beginning. When they uncover a major illegal operation right in their own backyard, they must work together to find answers and take down terrorists before it's too late. This story has passion, suspense, and compelling character. The secondary storylines in this book were fantastic. I especially enjoyed the father/son dynamic between Franklin and Justice and the budding relationship between Franklin and Adrienne. An all-around great read I highly recommend.

What a great read! I love Justice and Brielle together. They were friends as much as lovers, and the way he supported her was so sweet. Their chemistry was hot, and the action kept me captivated.

I really enjoyed this book it was a little long with the story took awhile to get to storyline meaning what it was about. You go through 20 chapters of story telling and then the end I would love a book with Nash in it he would make a great book. The book went on and on I thought we might have a cliffhanger but didn't. HEA which was a good thing. Give us a book about Nash he really deserves i.Spoiler !!! After being programmed to do his dirty work he needs some Love in his life, maybe some Faith. Get it.

Brielle is an officer with the LAPD training for a spot on the SWAT team.  She is challenged in every way during this period. Most of the men training with her have given her a hard time and have been extra hard on her. She gives back as good as she gets. Justice is a Navy SEAL who suffered a traumatic brain injury during his last mission after being thrown from a vehicle when the bomb hit. Afterward, he was retired from the Navy with special commendations. Then the Secretary of State sent him to Laguna Beach to be the new Chief of Police. She is hoping he can figure out what kind of corruption is going on there and hoping to keep him from finding out the truth about his last mission. Justice and Brielle meet on the beach and the attraction is off the charts. When Justice finds a house to rent just down the beach from Brielle, he jumps on it. While getting to know each other, they stumble upon something sinister going on right on their beach. As they uncover bits and pieces of the crimes, the realize this plot goes pretty far up. Who can they trust and how far up does it go? Can the two find out what is really going on before someone gets hurt?

This book is an awesome read. It has a little bit of everything, suspense, intrigue, international smuggling, kidnapping, and romance. The characters are strong and well developed. I love Brielle's determination and grit. She is strong, intelligent, and independent. This book will have you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what is going on and who is involved. There on plenty of plot twists and turns to keep you guessing. Justice makes a great Chief. He doesn't hesitate to lead his men and work to get to the bottom of what is going on his beach. I'm looking forward to reading the next books in this series.

If you enjoy the work of Lori Ryan or Cynthia D'Alba then check this book out.

Has everything you want in a romance book!

Dee Stewart did a great job of starting this series off with tons of excitement and chemistry! She is a new to me author but I jumped right in and loved every minute of getting to know her amazing characters. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

Justice had a hard time after his whole seal team died on a mission gone wrong. Reading about his recovery made me ache for him. He deserves to find someone worth living for. Brielle is a tough compassionate Sargent for the LAPD who is training for the swat team. She knows how to handle herself in dangerous situations but ends up getting in over her head. Justice will do whatever he needs to do to bring her home. Dee keeps you on the edge of your seat with hopes that Brielle will make it back to Justice in one piece.

Susan Stoker fans will love seeing not only Tex and Wolf but Susan herself gets a shout out! Brielle's best friend is Faith Stoker, neice of Susan herself!

Great series opener!

This is a fantastic beginning to a new series! There were twists and turns I didn't see coming. And the chemistry between Justice and Brielle was off the charts hot! Dee Stewart also brings in a solid supporting cast. I can't wait to read everyone else's stories and return to Laguna Beach for more!

Brielle and Justice

Fighting for Brielle written by Dee Stewart is the first book in the Laguna Beach Cops series. A powerful story that had me intrigued from the start to the finish. The best things I liked about this book would give away the plot. Felt totally immersed with the characters as the story progressed. Did not like finishing the book, wanted more, much more. If you are expecting the normal kind of cop story or police procedural you are in for a delightful surprise. Lots of sweet moments alongside very tense sections of suspense. Well crafted, deserving of the 5 stars I have given. Looking forward to reading what happens to Dooley, Tawny, Martini, River and Hutch.

Absolutely amazing!!!
Justice and his team were ambushed and he was the only survivor. He wanted to give up until Tex told him his story. Now he has been offered the position as police chief of Laguna Beach.
Brielle is on the LAPD force and is trying out for SWAT. There are quite a few that want her to fail.
Justice and Brielle are working together to bring down arms dealers. They are sure that a man that has been missing for quite some time is behind it along with the mayor and the previous chief. Now to prove it.
Brielle has been taken. They are all working together to find her. Tex is there along with Brielle's family, Justice's dad, his team and hers. They will find her. They find out a lot more than they were expecting.

Action packed with plenty of intrigue. When Navy SEAL Justice is discharged from the military after suffering injuries after a mission gone wrong, he is offered a job as Chief of Police in Laguna Beach. Something isn’t right and he wonders why they would offer a job like this to someone with a brain injury. But when he meets Sergeant Brielle, he knows he will do what he has to do to make it work. Until, together they discover something very illegal, but the more they dig, the more danger is surfacing. They think they have it figured out but what they know doesn’t even touch the surface. This is the first book in the series and the first one I have read by this author. . I loved it and love the characters and how they interacted. I will definitely be reading more in this series

Good start to an new series.

Thus is the first story for me from this author. I have read a few others in the Operation Alpha Workd and have been disappointed most of the time. This is definitely one of the better ones I have read.

A little light on handling the impact of a TBI, but in fiction romance sometimes that happens. Generally well written - somemplaces needed a little more editing but still a good read.

She brought in interesting sub-characters that make me want to know more as well. Now folowing this author to see what else happens in Laguna Beach.

Justice believes his world ended when he lost his team on a mission and almost lost his life. His father is an Admiral and does his best until he recruits Wolf and Tex who are visiting wounded vets at the VA hospital. Brielle is a SWAT officer at Laguna Beach. She gets in over her head when she's undercover in a commune to take over the world. There is a lot of action, drama and HEA.

Good read

Justice first saw Brielle when she was harassed by some cops at the diner. Shortly after that he was looking for a house and saw her to into the neighbourhood house. That was the deciding factor he rented that house. He was now the Police Chief of Laguna Beach police force. Brielle was a Sergeant was the LAPD. But together they were just what the other needed.
