She’s more important than I first thought.I’m losing track of what I’m fighting for. With everything on the line, failure isn’t an option. And if I make the wrong choice, it will doom us all.---EXPERIMENTAL HEART (Complete Series)Destiny (#1)Pieces (#2)Secrets (#3)Exposed (#4)Surrendered (#5)Reborn (#6)--- Like all of Shannon Pemrick's work, the Experimental Heart series contains strong language, violence, substance use, love scenes, and difficult situations.
Shannon Pemrick is a full-time USA Today bestselling author of slow-burn romantic fantasy, fuller-time geek, and dragon obsessed. She also has too many novelty mugs, not enough chocolate, and a forbidden love-affair with all things shiny. When she's not burning her fingers across a keyboard handing out adventures and HEAs, she's rolling dice and getting lost in RPGs or searching for brides for her dragon overlords.
Okay so I'm more or less okay with how the book ended. (finally) My problem is the length of the books. It was five books at least 400 pages per book, for a whole lot of nothing to happen. Like we still have at least one more book coming and this one only took care of one or two plot points. The other frustrating thing was Shannon seemed to think it was great to have someone interrupt Rai and Laz every. single. time. they had some sort of almost breakthrough. Shannon seriously girl once or twice max in a book series this long. After the millionth time, I was just frustrated and angry about her writing. Like I liked the idea of the series but it's too full of fluff this could be about two or three books max if all the needless stuff, walking, and talking with no real movement to the plot, was cut. Rai was the only real character I liked, and the crap he put up with from Laz made me angry. She didn't, and still doesn't even with her growth, deserve him. He seemed to be the only character who had any character development and I liked that. Laz made me really want to spend a good majority of the series strangling her. Esp in book two when she just kept using the information from her vision to hurt Rai more. I'm not sure I'm buying her transformation but Rai seems to be happy so good? Eh I don't know.
There now we know what she is! Enjoyed all 5 so far except for 2 things. The endless errors in kindle , wrong words & tenses galore. Very annoying. And the excessively repetitive , overly long physical character descriptions. At this point I think we all get it, every one looks very very different. After book 1 I just kept skimming them. Makes the already long stories drag. Yes the author has great imagination and I suspect it wouldn’t be so tiresome if you were waiting for each book to be released, but back to back as I’ve read them, it is way too much.
Again with the grammatical errors, spelling issues, etc! At this point, honestly, I think the series could have been condensed into 3 books max. I hope the plotline moves better in the next one. Yes I'm going to read it because I'm enjoying the concept of the books, but I really wish she'd get an editor.
Shannon Pemrick’s Experimental Heart is a fabulous one that keeps on getting more and more exciting, more and more complicated and more and more fun. It’s got pretty much everything from actions d adventure to romance and that’s certainly true with the wonderful latest addition, Surrendered (Book 5). If you like great world-building, plots, overarching story arcs and characters then this series - and this book - is definitely the one for you. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
I have to admit this is the best book I have ever read! When I first started reading this series I was captivated on how the story played out and with this latest book I can’t wait for the next Book! Seriously, the Experimental Heart series is the best series I have read and I read a book a day so out of all the books I have read this is by far my number one favorite book.
Interesting plot twist, great characters where you could see their development. Humor, romance and fantasy twisted with a bit of sci-fi. Could benefit from more editing but good quality.
Although this isn’t THE end of the story it certainly pulls everything together for an epic conclusion. New recruits, gods and goddesses, stacked odds, traditions, secrets, and betrayal keep this story going.
A lot of more wonderful action in this book and some plot twists I saw coming as well as some I didn't. My favorite of the series so far and could have been a great ending but I look forward to the next one!
Loved this series! The twists, the turns, I need more! If you like fantasy meets sci-fi in a post-post-apocolyptic Earth type world, you will love this.
I really enjoyed this series and have anxiously been waiting for this last book to come out. I wouldn’t say that this is the best book in the series but I still enjoyed it. There were bits that I skipped through because they went on and on and bits that I wished were extended however the characters were as lovable as always and the story as capturing. It was a good conclusion to the series and I would recommend these books.
