I have always enjoyed the Breeze character and his nomadic lifestyle combined with his/the author's extensive knowledge of seamanship and navigation. The character development has consistantly improved throughout the series. These factors have kept me coming back for more despite the somewhat weak plots and extreme overuse of dialogue tags ( "he said","i said",etc). I have even been able to overlook the unnecessary political diatribe throughout the series. However, the author chose to mangle this already weak plot by introducing several chapters of Covid pontification. It also appears (based on reviews) he continues his digressive Covid ramblings throughout the next several books. Im very disappointed and its a shame but, I'm finished with Ed Robinson books.
While the world bravest the pandemic news constantly, Breeze can barely stand five minutes of the coverage before wanting to check his rum supply back in Pelican Bay and be in his cove with a fishing rod, sun and the quiet life. His current lady and her mom are sheltered in place, having closed their small local restaurant/bar as ordered. As usual, there is more to life for him than lounging around and a fun adventure is added to his memories. A must read!
Days go by and solitude is really not too bad I talk to my Scotty who cannot hear my ramblings I have read all of this author's books and I am always spoil happy when Breeze shows up in my radar please keep up the great stories somebody have cried over some I cheered for breeze stay safe and God bless...ciao from costs Rica ....pura vida
I've been a fan of Ed and his character, Breeze since the first book. However, Ed does take liberties with credibly to make the story "work". To find the remains of a ship that tragically went down in the open ocean prior to the days of GPS with only the memory of the sole survivor to guide and sonar to locate is a real stretch. But, if you can get by that it makes for an "OK" Breeze read.
That was one of the worst times in American history. A total government power grab. Fauci should have been tarred and feathered. Did you know he was paid the highest government salary? What a legal crime that was. I think he's finally gone now. Aback Breeze is probably my favorite. Start at the beginning people. Read this series in order.
Again Mr. Robinson spins a tale that in believable while keeping the reader entertained and wanting more. To pass the afternoon with one of his books and a beverage of choice is a well spent use of time.
Found it most interesting because I have visited the Dry Tortugas! I could envision the action and his camping there. I enjoy adventures in and around the keys
If your reading this hopefully your still alive. We are going through some troubled times, just keep it in your mind "what would Breeze do" keep on keeping on. Rock on
