Can love save them, or will the sins of the past destroy them?
USA TODAY bestselling author Scarlett Scott writes steamy Victorian and Regency historical romances with strong, intelligent heroines and sexy alpha heroes. She lives in Pennsylvania and Maryland with her Canadian husband, their adorable identical twins, a demanding diva dog, and one zany cat.
Even so, the most beautiful aspect of the story is forgiveness and rediscovering lost love. It will make readers believe that love conquers all even in the worst of betrayals!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋💋 A little bit spicier this one , but excellent reading .
Markham falls for Sarah when she attends a ball, but after one kiss they are separated. Sarah is astounded that he wants her , her sister is much prettier, nevertheless he begins to court Sarah , then something happens, he becomes engaged to her sister and Sarah’s life plunges into despair.

Scarlett has a wonderful gift and I love her books . This one is brilliant , Enjoy!
A short novella with a super sweet hero and very evil parents. Philip kissed and courted Sarah but got engaged with her sister after compromising her. Weeks later the sister died after a miscarriage. She wants her revenge with the hero, because she feels betrayed and she thinks it’s his fault if she’s dead. Philip always loved Sarah but her sister trapped him in a compromising situation and he had to propose. He thought her sister wanted a convenient husband but finds out she wanted a man who married her because she was pregnant. Sarah finds her sister’s letter to her lover, a footman who was dismissed after their father found out he had an affair with her, and she finds out that both her and her mother trapped Philip to cover her pregnancy, even if they knew Sarah was in love with him. Her father refuses her his consent to marry Philip but a friend will help them to make their dream come true. Super sweet story with a super sweet hero, a man who has been true to the heroine even after they parted. Philip is one of those heroes you can dream of. He was forced to propose because he was a honorable man, he only loved Sarah and was celibate during their two years separation. Parents and sister are evil and awful. Luckily the sister died. Pity it was so short.
"Promises, like hearts, were easily broken." Yes Sarah had learned that lesson harshly at the hands of Philip, the Earl of Markham. Now at his masked ball, she was seeking retribution and she had it all planned out. He had kissed her passionately over two years ago then compromised her beautiful sister and they had become engaged. She had been with child and then she had died. But he denied it all and said that Amelia had purposefully made it look like he had compromised him! Really? How could she believe him? She hated him.. Yes, she did. But doubts crept in as he looked like he was telling her the truth. A story of a deep betrayal, lies, heartbreak, yet joy that might bloom. Scarlett Scott brings us another lovely story...
🥰🥰 Happy reading,, and until the next reading... 🎀🎀😘😘
Sorry, but Sarah is an idiot, and her entire family sucks. The misunderstanding stretched too long for a novella and the plot required it to be a novel. Not your usual SS style, it felt like an after thought.
The author couldn't muster more than 100 pages for this couple. This shouldn't even be considered a standalone entry in the series. The MCs deserved better.
Lady Sarah Bolingbroke seeking revenge for her sister against the Phillip, the Earl of Markham who is responsible for her sister’s death. Phillip was courting Sarah compromised her sister. She loved, lost forever any trust she had in men. Phillips knows he has once chance to convince Sarah he did not kill her sister that she is the only woman he has ever loved. A captivating story love and betrayal from those we believe closest to us. I have voluntarily read and reviewed this amazing story.
Sarah, Book 3.5 (supposedly Book 4 according to Amazon. Whether or not it was meant to be, it definitely complements the series and should carry the rank of Book 3.5.) of the Sins and Scoundrels series, was about Lady Sarah Bolingbroke, second daughter to the Duke of Elsmere, and Philip, the Earl of Markham Having been in love with Philip, and believing he loved her in return, she was shocked to learn that he had become betrothed to her beautiful, older sister, Amelia, only three short weeks after Philip had started courting Sarah. However, Amelia died before the two could be wed and Sarah blamed her death on Philip. Two years passed with both Philip and Sarah hurting, separated by lies and betrayal. All the while, Sarah was plotting ways to bring about Philip's downfall. When she confronted Philip with what she believed had been the cause of her sister's death, accusing him of being the main reason, Philip emphatically denied the charges. The characters of this short novella were very well-developed and fleshed out. Both had the integrity and honor that many romantic heroes and heroines lack. There was also an honesty between the two that was most unusual for such romantic stories but was definitely welcome. This book was full of angst and drama from the opening words to the end. There was only a tiny bit of humor to ease tensions, but what was most astounding of all was how much betrayal filtered through the entire story, and the sources of the betrayals were even more heartwrenching. Though the book was a mere nine chapters long, it had everything a romance novel should. The intrigue was well played, keeping the reader glued to the pages until the very end. This book definitely deserved a five-star rating.
Sarah by Scarlett Scott is a truly lovely about a younger sister. Lady Sarah Bolingbroke had been a happy woman, newly in love, with her love reciprocated by the Earl of Markham, to whom she had given her first kiss and promised all the rest of her kisses. It had been bliss for several weeks until all of a sudden he was betrothed to her sister. Beautiful and desirable Amelia. Then amazingly a few weeks later her sister was dead. She had bled to death following a miscarriage, although it was put about that she had died of a lung ailment. Sarah's heart was truly broken. All she could think of was revenge against her sister's killer, her betrothed, the Earl of Markham. It had taken five years but the night had come for her to let him know of his impending fall from grace. What a wonderful story, filled with longs, hatred, and revenge. Sarah was a bundle of emotions with no outlet. Her mother and sister were dead, her love had betrayed her, and her father paid little attention to her. She played her part very well. Markham was the picture of a hero: good looking, wealthy, a member of the ton, and beautiful to behold. It was a terrific story with plenty of angst on all parts. I recommend it for the plotting alone.
I received a free ARC of Sarah from Dragonblade in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions and interpretations contained herein are solely my own.
Wow! I want more of Lady Sarah and Lord Philip ♥️. This storyline is so well written, it’s hard to believe it’s a novella. Lady Sarah is a beautiful blonde and her older sister Lady Amelia is a dark haired beauty. Lord Philip is an Earl and very handsome. He wants to court Sarah, then a chance encounter during a ball leads her unknowingly to him! She has always thought he was very handsome, so she is happily surprised to see him. He gives her her first kiss and makes her promise to save her kisses for him. I was so excited to know that they had such a deep attraction to each other! But as the story goes on, not everything goes as planned. And there is so much hurt, betrayal, lies and secrets! I really enjoyed this book, it has a wonderful storyline. Lot’s of attention to details and very passionate and emotional. While reading Chapter 7 I became so emotional, it’s a beautiful storyline and the feelings and emotions felt so realistic! So, this book has love at first sight, then betrayal, lies and a wonderful happily ever after, because after all, true love 💕 wins over!
It has been 2 years since Lady Sarah Bolingbroke was being courted by Philip, Earl of Markham. He & Sarah's older sister were caught in a compromising situation & he was forced to do the honorable & ask for her hand in marriage. Sarah was heartbroken at the betrayal by Philip & then her sister had a miscarriage & died. Now Sarah wants vengeance for her sister & for her own hurt & she will confront Philip at his own masquerade ball. She follows Philip to his study & gets her frustration out but Philip denies all that she is accusing him of & wants a chance to explain. Philip & Sarah have been lied to, betrayed, they both were pulled away from their love for one another but will everything that has happened in the past destroy any chance of forgiveness & happiness for them? Scarlett Scott has created a couple that you will love & her enthralling story grabs you & keeps you turning pages!
This story was more fanfiction than a professional historical romance. The plot was nonsensical with many holes and felt rushed. It’s felt like fanfiction because the main characters seemed so illogical. Philip, the male protagonist, is described as a reformed bad boy who falls instantly for Sarah. No problem so far, but after getting caught up in a scandal and losing Sarah’s love, he goes two years pining over her including never touching another woman. Then there is Sarah who waits two years to take her revenge. There’s no stated reason why she waited two years, especially if the misunderstanding resolves in less than a week. Luckily it was a fast and easy read.
I loved Sarah and Philips story. Philip had his eye on Sarah and when she accidentally came upon him in the library at a ball she couldn’t be more startled and happy. When Sarah walked through that door he was elated, he stalked her and she had her first kiss with him. He stated to court her but then he abruptly compromised her sister Amelia and was engaged to her. Then her sister abruptly died and she wanted nothing by revenge on him. But everything Sarah thought she knew apparently was a lie. How can two people who have been hurt and one by her whole family find each other again. A beautifully written story with a wonderful ending.
Lady Sarah Bolingbroke is determined to have revenge for herself and her sister from the man who destroyed them both. A masked ball seems like the perfect opportunity.
Phillip the Earl of Markham gave up on love a few years ago when he was tricked but had a lucky escape.
This is a lovely story that shows us that not everything we are told is true, and sometimes it's those closest to us that lie the most. Great characters that are easy to love, and a mischievous story line.
What a lovely little dramatic book. I really enjoyed the convoluted storyline. I rolled my eyes in the beginning at his self flagellation but he quickly grew on me. Very sweet romantic story short enough not to get tedious with the melodrama.
I really liked the other characters from previous books - and normally cameos annoy me even if I have read their book, but here they were a natural and lovely addition to the storyline - I'm definitely going to read their book now.
Phillip and Sarah were robbed of their first HEA by her sister and mother, they schemed to get him to compromise her. Her sister found herself in a delicate condition so she decided she wanted Phillip for her husband, didn't think of Sarah already in love with him, just thought she wanted him and what she wanted she got. After two years of hurting Sarah decided to confront Phillip and learned all the truths about her family conspiring against her. In the end they did get married. I recommend this book! 👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤
Are you kidding me? Fake news alert, this is not a scorching hot steamy story. It is tragic and somewhat romantic in their attraction to each other. It's also boring, features despicable parents, and is a good book to listen to while you are doing laundry or raking leaves. Otherwise, skip the book and move on to the next book in the series. 🌶️ You can flip to the end of the last chapter to find the smoldering section of the story.
Wonderful story filled with passion love, betrayal and heartache. A grieving sister who learns her whole family betrayed her and her innocent heart that had been crushed in the process. Sarah seeks vengeance but learns the cold truth, can the past be mended and she be reunited with the one she loves?
Sarah and Phillip’s story had a great deal of potential. I loved the concept and the way it all played out, but I felt that for their relationship to develop and progress naturally, the story would need to be longer. It left me wanting more character development as well, but that’s often the case with a novella. It was still a good entry in the series.
Sarah wants retribution for her sister from her former beau Markham at his masque ball, but what she learns and later discovers is the ultimate betrayal and by those she had trusted and causes her outlook to change. Loved this story with the twists and turns, passion, Monty, Freddie and Mr Kirkwood make appearances and this covers eventual happy ending

I finally got around to reading this story and it is a great addition to the Sins and Scoundrels’ series. Markham and Sarah are too cute and their story is heartbreaking. I like the angst and Scarlett delivered it in this novella. Misunderstandings will get you every single time and I tell you I was tense reading this story. Fortunately, lies were dispelled and love ruled in the end.
I’ve read all of Ms Scott’s book but this was my favorite. This book made all my emotions come out, happy, sad, angry (really wanted to throttle her family). A great read!
Sarah and Markham. Scarlett Scott is amazing at being able to develop characters and interesting storylines within a novella. I loved the chemistry between the characters. She thinking his actions killed his sister just to find out her sister was a hussy. Loved every second of this book.
So glad that Sarah ferreted out the duplicity of her parents and her sister and was able to accept the true love of the man who had wanted her from the start.
It was shocking short. The entire only took a couple of hours. The storyline was not bad and reeked of manipulation and deception. Again it showcased women as property of men which to a modern woman is disturbing.
This story of Sarah and Philip was a love story that was not going to happen and only through vengeance did they have a chance. This is a shorter story and sadness, loss and betrayal played a part. I enjoy this author and her characters.
This is an excellent love story with lots of twists and turns. All of the characters are very believable. Really enjoyed how the hero and the leading lady got together. Can hardly wait to read this author's next book. One problem, the story was not long enough.
