This story is inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's haunting poem, A Dream Within a Dream. My hero, William Croft, appeared as a character in an earlier story of mine called Pearls of Fire.
William Croft, Baron Whitpool, has recurring dreams of a young woman with long, black hair and smoke-gray eyes running amid the ruins of Tintagel Castle on the Cornwall coast. He calls her Aislin in his dreams, but who is she?
If she exists, how is she connected to the missing years of his life?
Meara Platt is happily married to her Russell Crowe look-alike husband, and they have two terrific children. She lives in one of the many great towns on Long Island, New York, and loves it, except for the traffic. She has traveled extensively, occasionally lectures and finds time to write. Her favorite place in all the world is England’s Lake District, which may not come as a surprise since many of her stories are set in that idyllic landscape, including her Romance Writers of America Golden Heart award winning story.
“Aislin” is a romantic, fast-paced novella. Some authors would find it hard to pack so much adventure into a few pages, but not Ms. Platt; she does it with ease.
❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋 The Beautiful Tintagel castle in Cornwall is the centre of this tale.
A Baron who’s lost his memory and now has dreams of the wondrous girl Aislin . When he searches for her he finds her surprisingly easily, but who is she , how does she know him , and why does everyone warn him to stay away from her.
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wonderful: 🥰🥰🥰🥰 Hot: 🔥🔥🔥 William Croft, Baron Whitpool e Miss Aislin .. 🥰🥰 William vai a Cornualha em busca de resposta e Aislin é essa resposta.. Quando ele a vê, percebe que tem mais nessa história, e aos poucos ele vai descobrindo a verdade... 🥰🥰 Lindo adoreii... Let's read... Happy reading, ans until the next reading.. 😘😘
William has lived as the pirate Lucifer for the last three years, with very little memory of what happened before. Now however he has been having dreams of a woman who is obviously special to him. So it's back to the place he hopes to find her for him.
Aislin is apparently a very dangerous woman to know. Her father holds a lot of power in the smuggling community, and if anyone threatens what is his they have a tendency to dissapear forever.
An action packed story with danger from all sides. Both our characters are strong and possibly a bit too brave. The mystery they have to solve while not knowing who is on which side gives us a lot of excitement and a few giggles.
This story was fab! It had a marvellous hero and his mate, Aislin, and a very HEA - and so much more. I could not put this down. It's a short story, but oh so good. 5☆ all the way!
This book felt more like an overview than a whole book. The characters didn't have much chemistry, and it felt like a lot of details were left out. It is too bad, because I really like her other books.
A novella seldom makes my to-read list since in the past I have found that either character development or plot suffers for the shorter text. These ten chapters pleasantly surprised me.
William Croft, Baron Whitpool, suffers haunting dreams of a dark Celtic beauty rushing from the Tintagel Castle ruins. As sole survivor of a pirate attack, William also suffers memory lapse and guilt over the loss of his brother in that attack. He journeys to Tintagel seeking answers.
Aislin Farnsworth, daughter of the pirate responsible for William's ills remembers all too vividly their time together three years previously. After all, what girl doesn't remember her first true kiss? But how does she protect this man of her dreams from harm by the man who has provided for and protected her from childhood?
This plot satisfies with sufficient suspense, intrigue and action. The depth of the primary characters achieved by the author in so few chapters delighted me, but I rather missed the more developed secondary characters that I associate with Meara Platt. Also, I missed the bit of humor that I seem to expect in her writing.
I recommend this novella to those who like a satisfying. quickly read historical romance spiced with spies and pirates. As a bedtime reader, I appreciate a good short read that does not keep me up all night!
Cornwall, England 1816 Amidst Tintagel Castle, the waves crashed against the walls of the cliff face and a raven spread it's wings the azure sky. The crumbling castle had many visitors, fascinated as William was to tread where kings and queens and the knight's of King Arthur's court where rumored to have been. Oh yes, Meara Platt paints a picture and I can see it in my mind. William, Baron Whitpool was searching for a dream. She called to him almost every night and he knew she could help him with his memories he had lost when almost drowning at sea. Aislin. Yes he knew that was her name. Can I just swoon right now? Because he did find her as she was making her way from the castle as he caught her. "Aislin," he said in a husky murmur, circling an arm around her waist while he cupped her face in his warm hand with the other. "My Aislin." I will leave you with that because it only gets better and the mystery continues. Meara certainly knows how to create sigh worthy scenes and characters that just wrap around your heart!!
Aislin by Meara Platt is a pirate story firmly entrenched in exploring a man's subconscious mind when his conscious one remembers nothing. William's ship sunk and he survived, although not everyone knew that fact. He did not survive without harm, however. He had lost much of his memory. It had taken a while for him to recover enough to function. Now he is on the coast of Cornwall searching for a woman of whom he dreams: Aislin. Unbelievably he finds her almost immediately but she is very mysterious and nearly everyone he mentions her to warns him away from her. But, she promises to return to him his thought-to-be-lost brother, Gideon.
Aislin is a bit of a spooky story. It takes a while before the reader has any grasp of what is happening, which makes it very intriguing. It is a gothic story what with the castle ruins and the waves crashing against the rocks. It is fun to read and 3exptremely enjoyable. I recommend it.
I received a free ARC of Aislin from Dragonblade in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions and interpretations contained herein are solely my own.
William Croft, Baron Whitpool, kept having the same dream every night. It was of a beautiful woman, named Aislin. He could see her as plain as if he were awake and not sleeping. Now she was haunting him in the daylight as well. Deciding to find her, hoping that she was not in his mind, he set off to discover what he could. The last three years were in a fog to him, as he could not remember clearly what had happened to him and his brother, Gideon. Aislin loved to explore the castle ruins, of Tintagel Castle, with its dragon caves beneath it. Located on the Cornwell coast, where the rumors of pirates and smuggling were normal and every night occurrence. I loved the story, the plot and the fact that it is loosely based on Edgar Allan Poe’s poem “A Dream Within a Dream.” Well done.
Aislin by Meara Platt’s, is a novella that was or I finally part of The Midnight Hour: All Hallow’s Brides anthology. It tells the story of William Croft, Baron Whirlpool, who returns to Cornwall in search of his memories and a girl named Aislin who haunts his dreams. This is a delightful stories that will answer many questions for William, and bring him the love he dreams about, if he can survive the danger that lurks in Cornwall, and cause his memory loss.
William Croft, Baron Whitpool-lost his memory of what happened 3 yrs ago when shipped wreck and loss of his brother, and now has haunting dreams of a dark Celtic beauty around the Tintagel Castle ruins that he calls his Aislin. Aislin -Her father holds a lot of power in the smuggling community, and is very particular on who likes his girl! I enjoyed reading this intriguing action pack novella where true love conquers. Their story has a loving hea!
I read this in an anthology book set- The Midnight Hour: All Hallows' Brides, October 2019 AMA
William has dreams of a beautiful woman at a castle ruins. When he finds her he is instantly besotted. But he is warned to avoid her. After all Aislin is the daughter of a notorious pirate. With his memory lost for the last three years he finds information that can change everything. He just has to keep himself and Aislin from getting killed.
Another wonderful story by this author. Aislin and William's story developed beautifully with an ending to match. Surprisingly the villains were the ones who died as the end.
I enjoyed this book and thought the characters were well written. I wish I'd read the book(s) that come before it first to have a clearer picture of what happened to William before the events of this book - it isn't part of a series, but it is connected to other works by Ms. Platt.
Wonderful book and connects in with The Brayden's series. William can't remember the last 3 years of hos life except for the image of this girl Aislin at the ruins of Tintagel Castle. He makes the journey as his dreams and thoughts of her continue and finds she is real and they are in danger.
A short story containing intrigue.mystery, excitement, and romance. William and Aislin were meant to be together from their first meeting even though the odds were against them. Loved this adventure!
He keeps having dreams of her. What does she mean to him? Is she real? I couldn't stop reading just to find out what happens next. What a great story! Just the right amount of action and mystery.
This was a beautiful story. I absolutely loved the characters and storyline so much. Aislin and William were perfect!! Gideon and he survived an awful attempted murder. Her father was a monster! Can’t wait to read the reunion story! On to Genalynn. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜
Previously published in The Midnight Hour anthology A Tintagel dream. A beautiful woman. Smuggling and murder. A lot is packed into this well written and action packed Cornish novella. Highly recommended. Read in Kindle Unlimited
