"Mine," he said. "You are simply mine. And I am yours... always."
Ian Blake, Lord Dumbarton, is either being haunted or going mad. But when his aged, spinster cousin arrives at his ancestral home, Dubhmara, with a young and achingly beautiful companion in tow, he knows what she's about—matchmaking. No matter how tempting he finds the lovely and seemingly delicate Hyacinth Collier, the strange circumstances surrounding the disappearance and presumed death of his first wife have left him in a state of limbo. He is not free to marry, and she is not the sort to be a mistress. But then the darkness that surrounds him, that torments him nightly, sets its sights on Hyacinth, and Ian realizes he will face any foe, no matter how terrifying, to save the woman he loves.

Hyacinth has gone with her friend lady Arabella, to stay at Lord Dumbarton. Ian’s mother and cousin Arabella are trying to make a match between Hyacinth and Ian.
His late wife has gone missing presumably drowned.
From the first page it is clear that this isn’t your typical regency romance! For a start, Hyacinth barely survives the trip to Lord Dumberton’s home, having to be rescued in heart-pounding fashion.
Lord Dumbarton's wife has been missing for just over a year, presumed dead, but he keeps seeing her when she visits him at night. Hyacinth has worked it all out and now plans to catch the culprit. An interesting read for such a short story. Loved it! 5☆
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋💋 Ian is suspected of killing his wife, but denies it , his guilty feelings keeping him prisoner. He’s haunted by her ghost , her perfume and her memory. Then he meets Hyacinth, she is determined to show Ian they ghosts don’t exist and all his beliefs have a more interesting solution.

Their first meeting was unexpected to say the least. Ian, Lord Dumbarton had been coming upon the coach when he say her tossed out and going over the cliff! Luckily he was able to rescue her and get her to his home, Dubhmara, as the carriage pulled up. Hyacinth was travelling with Lady Arabella to see her cousin and spend time at there. Little did she know that a matchmaking scheme was being concocted to get her and Ian together. Ian knew it though and although he was attracted to Hyacinth, he was being haunted in his home. By his dead wife. He could smell her and he could only whisper "leave me be, I did not cause your death." But he felt the guilt. This story, with it's gothic feel, was exactly what I love! A haunted house, suspense, guilt, an attraction that hopefully cannot be denied and a mystery to be solved. Truly fantastic and not to be missed!!
Another enjoyable little read. I loved that hyacinth got her own well deserved HEA....and the appearance of another character mentioned in another Bowlin novel loosely related to this series was a rather pleasant surprise!
I just wish all the villains in these novels didn't end up dead. Id rather they come to some justifiable end that didn't included death given the pain they've inflicted on others.
Hyacinth by Chasity Bowlin is a thoroughly enjoyable story about Aunt Arabella dragging Hyacinth to Dubhmara but along the way the horses are startled just as she in climbing back into the coach and after racing a while she falls off, presumably to her death as they were at the rocky cliffs of the beach. As luck would have it, Ian Blake, Lord Dunbarton sees this all take place and rushes to her aid. He aunt and Lady Dunbarton could not have been more thrilled as it was their aim to have the two meet and fall in love. There were obstacles however. For one, he was married, sort of. For another, his presumably dead wife was haunting him, driving him mad. Hyacinth is far too sensible to believe in ghosts and so they set out, with her in the lead, to figure out what is happening. It was a clever plot with likable characters. Very worth your time.
I was given a free ARC of Hyacinth by Dragonblade in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions and interpretations contained herein are solely my own.
There is a mystic essence haunting the estate of Ian Blake, Lord Dumbarton. At least he is hoping he is not going mad. His aged spinster cousin has decided it is time for Ian to come back to reality. She arrives at the estate, with a young beautiful companion Hyacinth, hoping to do some matchmaking. But strange sightings, mystic aberrations seem to be a common occurrence that Hyacinth finds most upsetting. Are these sightings meant to scare her or are they appearing to harm the household? This is a real page turner, that I enjoyed reading.
This was a quick, fun, and mysterious historical romance. I really liked the spooky vibe of this with Ian being “haunted” by his dead wife after going missing a year ago. Then there was this mysterious element of trying to figure out what happened with the help of Hyacinth. It was very fast paced and very intrigued. As for the romance, I did like it, but it was very insta love/attraction, which I understand since this was a novel. I just need a tad more development on the romance side. Other than that I had a really fun time reading this one.

Who is haunting Ian Blake, Lord Dumbarton? Can Hyacinth help?
Hyacinth has accompanied Lady Arabella on a visit to her cousin Lord Blake and the younger pair are subjected to the matchmaking schemes of his mother and Arabella!
Unfortunately the mother and brother of Ian’s late wife are still in residence at the family home and are making wild accusations about what happened to her.
Strange sounds and appearances are occurring.
Matters are eventually resolved and Ian and Hyacinth get their HEA.
And love wins it all, Hyacinth and Ian are thrown together by matchmakers, but he fears he is going mad, and that is where the story turn, it is a shorter read so I don't want to give anything away. I really enjoyed this story but I am a huge fan of Christy Bowlin.
This wonderful Novella is an intense love story despite its short amount of pages. A murder mystery this novella is also, concerning Ian's wife; alot of people think he murdered her even though he is a Lord.
It is exciting, fast moving, romantic, mysterious, & just downright worth your time. Recommend
I initially thought to skip this one but I am so glad I didn’t. I actually read it out of order of the series. Heat - 2 with anticipation Suspense - 3.5 not really a mystery but very suspenseful! Anticipation of how the villains pulled it off and what was their motive? This was long enough but not too short. I really enjoyed this one. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I love a good mystery wrapped up in a romance. It wasn't difficult to guess the villains but the exact details were interesting. I could hardly put it down. Loved the interfering old lady and her persistence in the face of two stubborn subjects. I was routing for her all the way. Nice ending.
Not one of Chasity Bowlin's books has ever disappointed me. I have waited impatiently for the next book in each series! The exciting plots, love, mystery and strong characters are the best!
Well, this was a rollercoaster! I loved the whole gothic melodrama of the story - it felt like you were in a Mrs Radcliffe novel. Lovely to read Hyacinth's story as I was hoping she'd find her own happy ever after.
really good read. I don't usually like short books but noticed i had read all the others in this series and somehow missed this one. glad i went back and read it.
