Happy reading,, and until the next reading... 🎀🎀😘😘

Be pulled into an intriguing tale that starts with the heroine, Beth as she is attending a ball, with a chaperone she did not really know. Her sister and husband, who she was staying with, had been called away unexpected but insisted she attend.
When she is invited to dance with Marcus, she is enchanted. They exchange some wonderful banter back and forth and he request the supper dance so they can meet up again. Then she dances with Lord Ramsey, who seems so reserved, but as she is handed a missive that her sister has had an accident, he insist he will take her to them.
I adore Maggi's stories and this one took on a gothic feel as Beth is kidnapped and taken to an eerie house and she cannot figure out why! But danger lurks and she sees no way out...
Marcus realizes she is gone and figures out where she might be and frantically goes to search for her. Can he rescue her before something happens?
Really great story and I enjoyed every second.. Well done!

I am wary reading Regencies nowadays for although I am spoilt for choice, not all of them are 'authentic' in the sense of historical plausibility. Many are written by charlatans who do not even bother to research their chosen genre and timeline... specially the conversations or contemporary words and phrases that in all historical probability could not possibly remotely exist in Jane Austen's world. I am happy to say, that this author stayed True to her genre and timeline... and for that only, in my book, she gets 5 stars. Of course, the plot and writing was well~thought of and she made the story credible in that setting, so that for a while the reader was taken to a different world ~ the Mystique and Romance of the this particular English past.

Beth by Maggi Andersen is a charming story about a young woman who is set up by an unscrupulous man for his own ends. In a well-planned kidnap escapade, she is lured away in the middle of a ball and ends up in a ramshackle manor house with only her abductor and a shy, frightened maid. It is a lovely tale of rescue by a handsome hero and a maiden who can take care of herself. The plot is unlikely but well-planned and makes for an entertaining read. I recommend it.

I received a free ARC of Beth from Dragonblade in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions and interpretations contained herein are solely my own.

I usually enjoy this author and this was better than average. Yes, it is a short novella and everything must be resolved quickly.

I just didn't feel a connection to this couple. This is a clean story with some kisses. The character's were very likable and the h is a strong take charge women. I also liked the H but together they just didn't click for me.

We have a villain who is dark and clever. I could feel the coldness and eeriness of the house. The author did a wonderful job with the description.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, no romance and clean (ljb)

The season was in full swing and Beth would rather be in the country tending her sick and hurt animals. Attending the next Ball she met Marcus and was immediately taken with him. When she was abducted from the ball for revenge Marcus will be her knight in shining armor! This is such a sweet novella and I throughly enjoyed reading it. Looking for a quick sweet romance story definitely read!
