The Fall #1

Flawed Angel

Rate this book
When I fell, I fell hard.

After refusing to choose between good and evil, high or low, Heaven or Hell, I was exiled and fell from my pedestal and landed in a cesspit that was Earth. Stripped of my wings, and left with only two of the five gifts that I was gifted with from Him, I've been forced to live my immortal life amongst the humans.

Make no mistake, as much as a punishment for choosing neither side this was supposed to be, it's become my sanctuary, my haven. Although a disaster when I landed, Earth has become my home, a place where I can blend with the humans, live my endless life moving from one place to another.

That is until my home is invaded by four angels, all hell bent on making me to choose a side. They're in for a sure surprise when they realise my choice will forever and always be the same: humanity. A foreign concept to any angel. Well, any angel but me, it seems.

Yes, humanity have their flaws, but so do I. I'll choose my perfectly imperfect life, and there's not a damn thing any angel can do to change that.

So, yeah, I fell hard. But I fell for the flaws of being human even harder.

*This is a Reverse Harem novel! #whychoose
*Recommended 18+ due to mature language and situations.

DNF @ 61%
I’m so fickle lately but this could not keep my interest. And it’s about Angels, which might be a DNF first because they are my favourite supernatural.

Sigh

It wasn’t particularly bad it just wasn’t particularly interesting either. It was formulaic, and the MC who was supposedly thousands of years old had the maturely of a 15 year old, has no job or purpose and only eats cookies the entire time. She also looks nothing like the cover photo. She’s supposed to be a rock chic and have tattoos everywhere ...??

The relationships were instalovey without giving us any good reason why they would be. The thing that annoyed me the most was that specific type of narration where we get a blow by blow of every action taken. All preceded by the word “I”

I got out of bed. I didn’t bother with pants who needs that kind of restriction. I then went down the stairs and I was drooling at the smell of coffee. I got my favourite mug ... I ... I ... I

There are other ways to say “I” “I’ve” etc it may be descriptive but not in an engaging way.

Dnf at 6% because I've actively disliked several things so far without liking anything.

Honestly, the capitalization in the prologue put me in a horrible mood. One paragraph in, I was already annoyed. By chapter 1, the capitalization had calmed down, by the other writing mechanics were still rough, so I was ready to riot.

I also resent the idea that tattoos, piercings, colored hair, make up, and black clothing make a person demonic, and I hated the implication that goths don't read.

It seems as if the plot will focus on the MC's refusal to choose a side, but it seems to me as if she took Lucifer's side: She wanted more than what God had given the angels, even if she didn't want the exact things that he did.

The MC is also prone to annoyingly overdramatic answers that she's always sure to point out are overdramatic.

Honestly, I was considering a dnf at 3%, but I tried to keep going because I knew that the writing mechanics had put me in a bad mood and I was hoping I could move past them. I could not.

I loved this book so much. Luna has one of those personalities that makes it impossible not to feel everything with her. There are sinfully sexy angels, humor, sexy times, and just enough action to leave you begging for more. This is a fantastic debut novel from this new author!

I really liked the premise of this story from when I read the blurb. It screamed out at me as being something different. An Angel that didn't pick the side of either Heaven or Hell but instead decided to choose Earth, I was intrigued. And intrigued I stayed. I'm glad I picked it up to read as I enjoyed it, I liked the main character and her relationship with Mrs Frenchie. The guys are an interesting and varied mix for Luna and I'm looking forward to seeing how their relationship develops. I will be picking up the next book when it's released as I want to know what happens next.

Great story arc, poor editing

I loved the story arc. It’s what pulled me through to the end disputes there being some pretty bad linguistic and sentence structure mistakes, as well as incorrect word usage. It may be that the digital version of this book wasn’t edited in the same way that the manuscript was. Either way, it can do with a heavy handed revision by a solid editor. Despite that, I look forward to the next one and have every intention on reading the whole series.

Okay, this story is absolutely fantastic, firstly we have a heroine who is snarky and sweet at the same time, she is feisty and fierce but with a heart of gold, and she is pretty badass looking as well. We also have four sexy men who although are all different they gel really well, and they are not all friends to start with. Add in a great plot line, excitement, danger and drama galore along with some real humorous moments making it a great all round read, also I like the boys POVS scattered throughout. I need book two, I absolutely adored this one

What a great start to a new series. J.J. did an absolutely amazing job of creating a strong female lead in Luna. Likewise her guys are equally interesting. The chemistry is hot, and I always enjoy a good laugh. The writing itself is spot on, story flowed fast and constant. I really do need book two now please!!!

Funny and Exciting

This book has a lot of sarcastic quippy characters that brighten the mood. There is adventure and attacks and excitement and mystery; just what you’d expect from this particular genre of RH and Fantasy. The story is easy to understand and its not so complex that it will give you a headache.

This book is centered around a war between God and Lucifer, both of whom are painted in a bad light by pestering, attacking and attempting to force Luna to pick a side. The storyline takes place somewhere on earth (I didn’t catch where) and the scenes take place in 4 places. The RH is 4 guys. Luna is headstrong, stubborn and powerful.

The book lost a star due to lack of world building and background building. Yes, it is earth and we should understand it, but I would have liked to know more detail about this war. If the war has been raging for centuries, surely there would be more detail involved and how its affected the characters. Even the sides and what they believe in are vague.
Most importantly, none of the characters had backgrounds. Or those who did had very very weak ones - a general “i chose this side” of the war for no apparent reason other than a general “i want freedom”. Luna, who had been on Earth for centuries, has no background mentioned in the book expect for when she first landed (you’ll read that scene) and how she met her best friend 40 years prior to the book timeline. There are references to her never being hugged or having a friend.. So what has she been up to for the past few centuries??

Ridiculous

I didn't care for this book. I'm the beginning I was digging it, the more I read on the weirder it got. Her first gift was I but ridiculous, the way it's explained and the way she uses it are two totally different things, I'm actually not sure why the author went the route she went? But then again that can be said for lots of moments in this book. I found it annoying that the author kept having our main fmc keep reminding us she has lots of tattoos, example ( I put my tattooed hand on it) we get it, she has tattoos, you would have been better if the other characters mentioned them, not her herself. The men who seem to be her love interest seem to just fall in line with liking her, I didn't care for that much either. She knows exactly why these new angels are around but acts stunned when it's revealed that's exactly the reason? She then decides she wants to go for a walk after being attacked, they remind her it's not safe, she says ur right, goes to room, sits there for few mins then goes for walk alone anyways? Now we reached a fmc who has TSTL all the sudden. She goes to the cemetery where she's been where she sees this status again that looks like her, is informed that God made it for her when she fell? Scratching head. She fell a millennia ago, and has traveled all over, yet it's explained God made this as a way to bury her since she's like kinda dead to him? This makes zero sense? She fell a millennia ago!! Hello!!! Moving on, yeah so one guy follows and guess what, you guessed it, under attack! Who didn't see that coming? 64% I was done.

A story of a fallen angel. Good versus Evil. Love conquering all. All angels were given a choice and all chose. Except for Luna. But by not choosing, she chose Earth. Stripped of her wings and most of her powers, she's left to live among the humans. But war is coming, and with it the pressure to once again make a choice. One she refuses to make, no matter what they throw at her.

Luna is a spitfire. Dark and foul mouthed, full of sass. You can't help but instantly like her. Our angels are something else. I don't want to tell you too much about them b/c you need to figure out what side they stand on and who's who on your own.

I think this was a good start to this new series and it's going to be an interesting ride. I did receive an early copy and there were some editing issues. I can't say if they passed over to the finished copy or not. Even with the errors I did see, the story flowed nicely and kept my attention. I'm looking forward to the next book.

An okay read

I truly wanted to love this book. The potential to be great was there, but it just didn't hit its mark. The MC was meh and there were so many typos it was hard to finish, though I did. The guys were a plus seeing things from their point of view, but I just didn't get attached to any of the characters. They all lacked any real depth. Time was spent in the weirdest of ways talking about what they're wearing or walking through her usual day with them following. I was kind of bored to be honest. For someone who has been alive a millennia it feels like they knew or did next to nothing. Lol. You would have been nice to have a small snippet of the ages that she lived through other than just the time she Fell.
I did however like the MC's relationship with Francis. I liked her banter and witty humor and you just don't see a tattooed cursing angel everyday. Lol.

I couldn't finish it, I just couldn't. The grammar and sentences were so awful that I had to force myself to make it halfway through before finally conceding defeat. I wanted to love this book. The plot actually interests me, which is not an easy thing to do. However, the author used some words way too much ("whilst" being a favorite, apparently) and others in the wrong way. Too much time was spent describing the characters' clothing, saying the same thing over and over again, and just glossing over the important bits.

Honestly, I'm sure this writer will do better in the future. They have good ideas for a plot and character, they just need to polish things up, because right now, it's too rough to enjoy. I spent more of my time editing this book in my head than being sucked into the fantasy world it was creating.

I shouldn't have read it....
Not because it was bad... but because it kinda ends in a cliffhanger! I was hooked with RH when I read the first Four Pyscho books.. I mean, #whychoose right?!
I enjoyed this book very much, and every MC has their own personality, cute / angst etc. The FMC is quite capable of taking care of herself, but I wish sometimes she just stops and think for a little bit. I mean, maybe there's a past with them that she probably was made to forget, but I cannot see how she fell in love with one of the guys as quickly as love at first sight. I mean, yea, they ARE HOT AF, but come on... Need a little more history amongst the characters. I guess it's normal for all RH books to fall in love at first sight because of the looks lol I'm just complaining/ ranting

I'm trying to read this book but it just about got on my nerves.
At first the way the characters talked saying "Bro" and all that 'new' stuff when they apparently have lived for a millenia (and consequently would have picked other forms of talking) was a bit annoying but I told myself "it's a way to show that even if they are a millenia old they are able to incorporate into a era, that being old doesn't equal to stop in time".
But the home girl luna says and i quote "Saying that, no one has called me beautiful before either, other than Ms. Frenchie." ??? Really in a all ass millenia before you got all those tattoos (wivh i don't care) nobody ever told this apparently beautiful woman "you are beautiful"?
Really?
Really?? What dumbassery is this?

Loved it!

I don't usually pre-order from authors I don't know, but I was really intrigued by the blurb and decided to go for it and hit one-click. I'm so freaking glad I did, this book is fantastic!! Luna is one of funniest and most likeable female MCs I've read I awhile. She's the perfect mix of sassy and sweet/badass and vulnerable, and her guys are sexy and fun in their own ways (esp Asher, yummm). I love the idea of the different gifts each of them have and hope to see more of what they all can do. I think Luna and her men are going to be a force to reckon with in the next book and can't wait to find out what happens next!

It’s okay

If you’re looking for a nice and easy story this if for you. Personally I like the deeper plots and storylines that follow reality a little more. For example, she’s been on earth for over a thousand years but has no defense mechanisms or street smarts. It’s like she’s just floating along la tee da. No references to past experiences and seems surprised by people and life. Her lack of understanding and knowledge makes me think she’s only been on earth for a couple of decades. No mention of what she did during those years either. The story doesn’t fit together well. The men are great but we hardly hear anything from Noah. It’s like he’s an afterthought.

I did really like this book, although it is about Angels and Demons I felt like the storyline itself was pretty unique and I loved that the FMC's best friend was an older lady. They were honestly so cute, also the author has very good taste in music and the men were amazing and had vastly different personality types which I enjoyed. However, I did find myself struggling to focus near the end, I think this book was meant to be a build-up for the next one and perhaps that's why I found myself losing interest. I think it took a while for the story to start moving, but if you are in the mood for a good story that takes its time I would recommend this one.

Eagerly awaiting book 2

I went for 4 stars as I struggled with the first half of the book, i was looking forward to reading about the development of her relationship with the angels from gods side but it wasn't mostly about her relationship with hells angels, there was only one steamy scene which was slightly disappointing. However I wanted to cry when one rejected Lucifer and I could imagine the fear she felt at having lost her best friend. I laughed so much at lunas one liners and her talks with Francis had me laughing and smiling as I read. Looking forward to book 2.

DNF stopped reading at 10%. It’s super rare that I don’t read a book to completion. Out of the hundred books I’ve read I can count on one hand how many I haven’t finished. So it must be bad.

I couldn’t connect with the MC at all! A fallen angel who didn’t choose a side between good or evil both chooses both? Really? Then she’s drinking and cursing like crazy! Most fallen angels keep their self perseveration about themselves.

I also don’t like how the author can acknowledge Lucifer but refers to God as he and him. Smh I’m good on this book and any others that this author has to offer.

Great concept

I love the premise of this novel, and that’s what pushed me through the horrible grammar and typos. I’m hoping that the next has less errors. There is way too much time spent describing Luna’s clothes, and more random seeming cursing than feels natural. Again, I’m hoping this improves in the next book since the idea behind the story of a fallen angel that refuses to take sides is interesting.

Wow

I've always been a fan of mystical stories. Shifters, vampires, and fae I love them all. This story focuses on angels. War erupted in heaven, so which side do you choose? For Luna, as she's now known, there is no side instead she opts for humanity or as I like to call it free will. Now millennia later she's the chew toy in God and Lucifer's tug of war, as a new war threatens.

Solid 4.5 stars

I really enjoyed this book from a new author. I’ll admit it started a little slow for me, but once I got into it, the story sucked me in and kept me fully engaged. I like the quirkiness and smart mouth on the MC, and I love all the guys, but I think my absolute favorite relationship is Luna and Francis’ friendship! I just adore those two! I’ll definitely continue reading the series, I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Great premise but mediocre execution.

+
Reverse harem
Decent world building for a first book
Older less stereotypical character

-
The writing isn't great.
Instant love.
Little character development for the guys.
Boring character development for the girl : mundane (isn't she supposed to be millennia old ?), way too trusting of a pretty face, always does the same thing (drink coffee, read, eat cookies and talk to the bestfriend).
Too many powerful magical powers.

A new take on heaven and hell!

This book was such a great surprise! I fell in love with the story, characters and couldn't put it down. It has such a great new take on Angels, Demons and the man upstairs. Luna is crazy funny, sarcastic and her inner monologue will crack you up! Add in hot badass guys, you really can't go wrong reading it.
